HP Pavilion DV3 ( Scroll & Caps Lock LED's blinking four times + Blank Screen )

Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion DV3-2157cl
When I press the power button, the screen remains blank. Also, the scroll & the Caps Lock buttons keep blinking four times.
Sometimes, the laptop works like nothing's wrong but Most of the time, it remains blank with the blinking lights!
Can anyone help me?

i had a problem with my dv3 (blank screen keeps flashing) and used this method to reflow the graphics card/chip (see link below). only try this method if you are at your wits end... and you are skilled with taking apart/putting together electronics. it will take you a minimum of 1 hour (but most likely, about 2). you will need a heat gun (about $10 - $20).

to prevent it from continually over heating, you can try the penny mod (google it). that's what i did. you basically take a penny and sand off both sides until it is the right thickness and solder it onto the heatsink. you'll need to remove the sticky blue foam that HP used instead.
i also noticed that a laptop cooler placed under your laptop works well for keeping it cool. it can be fixed again and again using the method above but it is time consuming. to prevent getting a cold connection which leads to this problem, don't move the laptop. yes, it sucks that you can't move it but that's the only option you have.

I see that you're having an issue with the notebook giving you a black screen. I also noticed you said only the NumLock and Caps lock is blinking.
Now, the BIOS update could have because this but we won't know until you let me know how many times the LED blinks.
Here is a chart which will tell us what's causing the issue.

Scroll/Num Lock and Caps Lock LED's blinking not starting

Hi, I have a problem with my Pavillion dv4-1222nr. It was fine last night and this morning when I turned it on the Scroll/Num Lock and Caps Lock lights started blinking. I turned it off and on several times and still a blank screen and blinking lights also the light that shows the hard drive is running is not on. I can hear the fan from the processor and the dvdr engaging oh, that light is blinking too. I pulled out the battery to see if it would reset but it didn't work. Can anyone please help

Hi, I have a HP Pavillon Dv4 1225 dx. Since a week when I turn it on I hear a noise that seems that it is going to start but it doesn´t. The scroll, num block and caps looks bottom are blinking all time and the screen remains as if it were off, even if I wait for an a half an hour. I tried changing the memories, connecting another monitor, checking the battery but it doesn´t work. I would be great if you could give me an advice about what can I do to solve the problem. Pavilion DV5 1111ea CAPS lock and NUM lock continuously blinking

I recently upgraded my dv5 pavilion 1111ea to windows 8.1
Due to an issue with the OS, it doesn't resume from Hibernation, as described here.
I held down the power button until the laptop swithched off.
Once I tried to put it on again, it couldn't get to the BIOS screen, the CAPS lock AND NUM/SCROLL lock LEDs were blinking continuously, once every 3 seconds.
No disk activity at all.
I checked HP Notebook PCs - Blank Screen LED Error Codes but non corresponded to continuous blinking.
I have a spare CPU which I removed from a discarded dv5, the CPU is exactly the same model with mine (AMD Turion x2 RM-72).
I've troubleshooted by removing both RAMs and testing each individually in different ports, yet no solution.
I'm suspecting the CPU because about a year after purchasing the PC, it began to overheat and hibernate automatically to prevent the CPU from burning. I had to underclock the CPU so, for over three and half year now, I've been running at 50% CPU speed. In total the laptop is 4.5 years old already.
Please I need suggestions as to what to do. I don't have the required tools to replace the cpu myself.

I took my PC to a repairer and he claimed to have replaced the CPU with an AMD Sempron from his collection of scrap laptop CPUs.
After about 3 months, the same problem has recurred.
I opened it up, only to find my former CPU model inside!
Whether the repairer had a spare Turion, or he only performed a trick to make my original CPU to work (and billed me for a replacement), I can't say for sure.
Now I've purchased another CPU from eBay.
Fixed it and...... got dissapointed again.
Still blinking the CPU error code.
From other posts I've come across here, I think HP/AMD combo is to blame for all these.

I would like you to start with this document: Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps. This will help to try to identify if the Notebook is providing an error code. If it is, it will also provide steps to attempt to resolve the issue.

Caps Lock LED don't turn off

Well, I got my notebook from repair today, and looks fine, but... The Caps Lock LED won't turn off, no matter what I do. I'm still downloading ALL the drivers, so, if I need a special driver for turning on and off the leds os Caps Lock, tell me. And the LED of the Wireless key is working perfectly, white when turned on and red when turned off.
And I getting some issues with the TouchPad, because it don't turn off too! I'm hoping when I finish downloading all the drivers some problems will go away, but, if you can, may you help me with that issues ?
My noteboo is a Pavilion DV7 6143-CL with Windows 7 Ultimate.

No display while caps lock LED blinks

Hi
Please could someone help me.
For about 2 weeks now my laptop has refused to display anything. When I turn it on, nothing displays on the screen but the caps lock LED blinks once every 2 seconds. Also the wireless button displays orange light but nothing on the screen.
It managed to display once in this 2 weeks and the error message I was able to see before it came on read something like:
HP Battery Alert
The system has detected the storage capacity of .....(did not see all the message on this line)
very low. For optimal performance, this battery .... (did not see all the message on this line also)

Caps Lock LED incorrect when changing modifier keys

Hello,
I remapped Caps Lock and Ctrl keys via keyboard settings (they're now flipped). Unfortunately the Caps Lock LED is still being activated by the "old" Caps Lock key (which is now the Ctrl key). This means that whenever I hit Ctrl (using the Caps Lock key) the Caps Lock LED changes its status.
This is rather annoying as it ends up being in random state and tells me nothing about the actual Caps Lock status. Is there a way to fix this?

I suggest you call Applecare with a warranty issue. The KB has a one year Apple warranty. I would not waste any more time trying additional things. You have already tried everything I would suggest.

Caps lock LED not working consistantly --SOLVED

Not so much a question as an answer. I searched earlier for an answer to why my caps lock LED would not light up. Still no clue, but I found a quick fix. Press and hold power button for wireless keyboard until it disconnects from the computer. Wait 20 seconds and turn back on. This should solve it completely.

In a post a while back had this to say. He makes a suggestion that the keyboard might need to be replaced, then the person with the question tried something else. You might take a look and see if there's something there that will help.

SOLVED: Annoying icon of num/scroll/caps lock still on screen

Hello everybody!
I can't get rid of the Lenovo icon of num/scroll/caps lock whic appears when you press one of these keys. The problem shows up when I join to my other bigger monitor so the screen resolution gets bigger and the icon gets stucked in the bottom-right corner where was originally the end of previous smaller resolution (as you can see here on the screenshot):
I'm desperate because I've already tried most of the tips which I could find on google. Like modifying the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\General\KeyIndication, disabling BTTray.exe etc.
I have Lenovo Ideapad B560. I would rly appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
Edit: Problem solved. It wasn't any Lenovo utility but Genius Keyboard. So I have just unistalled the ioCenter software and icon finally disappeared.

Make sure you've got the latest HP system BIOS installed.

Compaq C700. I have changed fan, but now I have no caps lock led did I forget to connect a cable?

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone that hasn't been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store).
If you have jailbroken the phone, and jailbroke the last phone as well, that is certainly the cause of the problem. Restore the phone to factory condition, without restoring any backups, to remove the jailbreak, and any potential malware you might have become infected with.
If you have not jailbroken the phone, it's not malware, it's probably a hardware issue. If you have had the same problem on two different phones that were not jailbroken, you need to evaluate what environmental factors might be at play causing damage to your phones. It could be anything from a bad USB port/charger that you're connecting it to, an overly-humid environment, a tendency to drop phones or any number of other things.

Laptop Won't Boot. Caps Lock Button Light Blinking

I just bought a HP Pavilion DM4-2015dx laptop a few days ago. Turning it on this morning, it won't boot and the Caps Lock light is blinking. I have searched the HP site and Google for a solution to the problem and have found nothing to tell me what the blinking light means or why it won't boot up. Does anyone have an idea of what the blinking light on the Caps Button means?

My laptop HP pavilion Dv6 - 7132TX had a problem of blank screen and caps lock key blinking. I bought the laptop on 28th Apr 2012 and just before completing a year, I was facing a problem of computer inadvertently not booting. On checking in the above link, found that 2 blinks meant the problem was BIOS corruption failure. LEDs blink 2 times BIOSBIOS corruption failure(as found in the table in the above link) So I went on and found another link to find the BIOS upgrade on the same page , where it read, Step 3: Find and download BIOS updates Then followed to the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?swlinkmsg=100&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c00042629&lc=en&product=4057208 to download the driver. Downloaded the BIOS latest driver and installed it. It gave the same problem while restarting the laptop which was required to complete the bios installation. After that voila.. Problem gone Hopefully it stays that way. Now next task on my mind is to fix the sleeping problem of my PC and the noise problem of the speakers. 1.Laptop does not sleep and goes into freeze mode with LEDS glowing and screen black.2.While the laptop speakers are on, they constantly make some background noise as if the speakers have a loose connection. However I got a clue that the problem is not with the connections but with the frequencies mismatch. Inherent problem of laptop architecture I suppose. However still wish to hear sounds clearly on my laptop. Had a good experience with HP with my earlier laptop from HP. However now things are changing I guess. Feel good that I could at least troubleshoot and save money. [Even gas is Rs. 84 per litre.] and more importantly time since I was working when I saw this problem and did not want to keep laptop powered on All the time just to avoid restart .

Laptop won't start quickly but power wifi and caps lock light keeps blinking

Hi, it has happened before too but rarely but nowadays it happens on daily purposes.
When I switch on my laptop after leaving it for 8-9 hrs, it won't start up but instead power, wifi and caps lock light keep blinking. I tried removing battery and pressing power button for few minutes but nothing happens. Then i left it like that with lights blinking and after 15 20 minutes it booted. I did same yesterday too. I left it like that it booted after 20 minutes..so My question is "why is this happening? Is it a motherboard issue or is it because of cold moisturous weather here and laptop takes time to get warm up?" Should I show it to HP Service center?

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are having a problem getting your notebook to boot up normally. As for what is causing the problem the blinking Caps Lock should tell us what is causing the problem as it should be blinking in a pattern. This HP document Computer Does Not Start and LEDs blink has a chart that will tell you what the blink codes mean.

Caps Lock LED not working in X unless I hold shift

Hi, I recently installed Arch, installed X and configured it as the wiki says, installed awesome and now I switched the language toggle to Caps Lock instead of Alt+Shift.
I hoped the LED would tell me what language I'm typing in. But I noticed the LED wasn't working (Num Lock LED does work however).
I looked on the forum and it said to use
kbd_mode -u
to switch the keyboard to UTF-8 and it'll be fine.
Now Scroll Lock works too (it didn't before), but Caps Lock does something weird, it lights up for a split second then immediately turns back off. That unless I hold shift when I press Caps Lock, then it works fine, but I don't want to hold shift...
So how can I make it work?
EDIT: In the tty Caps Lock works fine.

Standard troubleshooting procedures in order are power the iPhone off and on, Reset, Restore and if no change after and or all in order, call AppleCare (800) 694-7466 or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.
Although others may have experienced the same, this does not mean the majority have.
