Hp pavilion dv5000 won't start up anymore

My notebook pavilion dv5000 with windows xp is not starting up. The battery has been dead for a while now but itwalkways worked fine with the power plug in. After a while, the computer would unexpectantly shut down after a few minutes. Now, I can not get the computer to completely turn on. I am prompted with the black screen informing me that "windows has not started successfully due to a recent software or hardware change.". It gives me the options to start with safe mode or windows normally. I have tried every option multiple times. The closest I can get is choosing to start windows normally. Theblack windows xp screen loads and then the computer dies again andTatars the entire process again. What can I do?

Try using this document to perform a hard reset on the notebook: http://goo.gl/C9BLD
If that does not work for you, just let me know and i'll see what else I can find for you.

HP Pavilion Entertainment won't start just shows blue screen. Sometimes says missing operating system after changing boot order. I have seen error message 303. This happened after I couldn't stop coolncheap popups so I saved everything to another computer and did a complete restore. When I was in the process of getting it back to working order I allowed updates recommended and optional and then everything started.

Also pressing F11 won't take me to recovery

Reset SMU and am in the process of restarting G5 at this moment. Fan is going crazy right now with blue screen just now opening. At least I am getting the blue screen. Before I was finally getting desktop but nothing else but machine wanting to search for Bluetooth mouse and such but never consistent. Sometimes start up would take forever but never finished. • Help! - my G5 won't start up anymore

When I woke my G5 1.8DP on 10.4.11 (Jan 05) this morning from sleep it froze and the fans went really loud.
I had to restart it with the power button, but it doesn't start up anymore now. The fans go on and turn really loud after about 2 minutes and the screen stays black (in sleep mode - lights pulsing). I can hear some of the usual whirring start-up noise. The light on the front doesn't go on, only when I press the power button to turn it off again it lights up. I did that a few time, disconnected it from the power supply, but no change. No start up sound, but I turned my computer on mute anyway.
When I opened it up I noticed that it was really dusty inside. I cleaned it all up (carefully) but no change.
It won't react to anything, so I can't reset the PRAM, insert the startup disc or do anything else.
No external backup (I know...) I could start from either.
I didn't do anything unusual and it has been working well even after he last update a few weeks ago. Just did lots of different, high memory things with it since last shutting it down.
Any ideas what I can do?
I have deadlines tomorrow and tons of work on at the moment... AAArghhh
    Many thanks in advance!

Brought an iMac back home from work so that I can do stuff here as well. And keep checking for any feedback.
Just had a look - my computer was bought in March 2004 - so it's one of the older versions, which are not directly addresses in the topic.
I just tried the previous suggestions again, but no change.
I managed to get the start-up disc in, bit it won't mount from it (it does move the disc around though - can hear it). It seems more and more that, although there is some power, there's no power to the hard drives as nothing comes up at all
    Anybody else has another idea?
    Battery? Power cable?
Might bring it to the shop tomorrow.

  • Pavilion dv6700 won't start

I'm having a problem with my laptop that I've never had before. As it says in the title, I have an HP Pavilion dv6700. I was using it today, for nothing different than I usually do (an MMO, internet, and msn), and it randomly turned off. I blinked and tried to turn it back on. All the lights turned on, then it shut off again. So I thought it might have overheated and took out the battery, and waited until it was cooled off to turn it back on. For a bit it stayed on, told me to scan during startup, which I agreed to. In the middle of scan it shut off again. Now it won't even get that far, it just turns on for a split second and then turns off.
I looked at the help section, but it didn't seem to help me. It referred to lights blinking, and none of my lights are blinking at all. They all light up as if it's going to start, then all die at once. No deviation from that. Is there anything I can possibly do?

  • Premiere elements 11 program won't start/open anymore.

I was using at 7am no problem and my computer died (it has done that numerous times before and i've never expeirneced this problem, just died because the power chord is loose) and then i go to finish editing around 4p and now the program won't open. everythingelse (google, files, media, other programs) run and open fine but not premiere. I am not tech savvy and don't really understand what other forums are saying, i'm definitely consumer level. please please help, i don't want to lose my work.
    I have windows 7 (I think)
If you need specs i need a walk through how to check. Its a dell computer that can run world of warcraft just fine so i don't think its the driver or graphic card, and again premiere was working just this morning.
Its a dell i've had for 3 years.

Typically I start with lots and lots of questions to define the situation.
In view of the circumstances that you describe, I am going to start with a suggestion rather than questions. Then, if the suggestion does not work, then I will send a lot of questions your way.
Delete the Premiere Elements 11 settings file, named Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs. In Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, the path to it is:
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 11.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks.

  • Help. iMac won't start up anymore...

And it's making a weird 3 beep sound. I've checked Apple's web site and according to them it's a memory problem, but I haven't added any since I bought this computer 3 years ago. I tried resetting my PRAM and PMU and still get a 3 beep and no start up.
I'm running Panther, but not sure which version and can't find my start up disk...
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks.

Thanks guys. I broke down and took it into the shop...it's way past my expertise and since we've moved we have no idea where the disks are.
Hopefully it won't be too expensive...

  • HELP!! My 15" Macbook Pro Won't Start Up Anymore!!!

Okay, I'm in a horrible situation here.. My dear Macbook Pro suddenly refuses to startup at the time I need it the most; testweek.
I really need it to work as soon as possible, so if anyone could help me I will be grateful forever.. It would really mean a lot to me!
    So here's what happened...
Today when I installed my software updates, I noticed the tiger 10.9-update had a red exclamation sign before it. I didn't pay much atention to it, and decided to shut down my macbook pro as usual. When I tried to turn it back on however, it got stuck in the gray screen with the apple logo and the little loading sign. I've shut it down and started it up a few times since, but the same thing kept on happening.
I've already tried holding a few combinations at startup (commandcontrolshutdown-button, optioncommand+PR) but nothing has changed.
Please help me out if you've had the same problem, or if you have any idea on how to solve it... Anything would be great!

The same thing happend to my macbook pro while installing the updates....the continuous gray screen with the spinning gear. I didn't know what to do, but I did take it to a Genious Bar. This whole thing started with a kernal panic then installing several updates at once including itunes, quicktime, airport updater, and a couple others. The last update on the list was OS X 10.4.9, neglegently installing them all at once. Upon installing the OS X 10.4.9 update I too got the error message with the red exclaimation point. Then when I rebooted.....nothing but the gray screen. The genious told me it was because I installed OS X with all the other updates. I needed to update OS X seperate. He suggested doing an archive and install when I got home, because there was nothing he could do for me at the store. So I did an archive and install with the two system disks that came with the computer. It took me an hour and a half to do but this worked saving all of my files and settings. I inserted the disks during the gray screen and when it accepted them I forced the computer to shut down. Upon reboot, I held down "c" for at least 20 seconds and when I released the install disk started working. There is something going on cause I even tried updating OS X 10.4.9 by itself, and again, bootup failure!!! I did the whole install again, and curently sticking with 10.4.8. I'm going back to the Genius Bar tomorrow to find out what the **** is going on here. Good luck.

  • MacBook Pro won't start up anymore

    Dear Community,
What a day for me, I was about to setup OS Mavericks on two of my Macs, and both are "dead" or in a deep "coma" (Mac mini : https://discussions.apple.com/message/23555153#23555153)
I did exactly the same thing I did on my Mac Mini before installing Mavericks (Onyx cache clean up) and restarted.
After restart, the Mac display was black and that white let below the keyboard was glowing. I don't even know what do for this one as it seems like the Mac is "dead" for some reason...

  • HP Pavilion p6774y won't start, 1 short beep 1 long beep

My  HP Pavilion p6774y now makes one short beep followed by one long beep repeatedly when I turn the power on. Nothing comes up on the screen. I've taken the RAM out, switched them around, cleaned out all of the fans including the one in the power supply, taken the video card out, unhooked all extra things like monitor, mouse etc, no luck..

According to this guide, the BIOS Beep Code that you are receiving is for a Memory problem.  You can test your memory by removing all of the modules and replacing them one at a time and booting.  Place the single module in the slot closest to the processor.

  • InDesign won't start up anymore

I have the Adobe Creative Suite CS6 Design Standard, on a PC with Windows 7. The Suite was working great until the other day, when I couldn't get InDesign to start up. I get the error message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000006). Click OK to close the application." Both Illustrator and Photoshop still work fine.
I tried uninstalling the latest Windows updates, since they were installed about the time InDesign quit working, but I still have the same problem.
If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it!

How do you feel about opening the case and fiddling? Do not attempt this at home unless you are comfortable and understand the risk involved.
How much RAM? How many sticks? If you have at least two sticks, you should be able to pull one, or a pair if you have four leaving memory in Bank 1 (make sure you are static-safe -- a ground strap is the recommended method, but if the machine is plugged in and turned off you can touch the case to discharge before you pull the RAM -- and handle the memory carefully only be the edges). Restart the machine and test If it doesn't boot, odds are the remaining memory is in the wrong bank). If you get the same error, swap the memory you left in with what you took out and try again. If it's bad memory, this should let the program start.
I'd also recommend you run a CheckDisk cycle on the hard drive.

  • HP Pavilion Desktop: Won't Start/Tower Lights Up

I have an HP Pavilion p6130yv running Windows Vista.
For several weeks, occasionally while working, my monitor would suddenly turn white, preventing me from interacting at all with the interface (no mouse arrow, no response from Ctrl+Alt+Delete, no auditory response whatsoever). Sometimes, before it went white as described, my screen would flick every half minute or so. I could easily get rid of the white screen by restarting the computer. No problems for several days until it happened again. Rinse and repeat.
I left my apartment for two weeks to visit my family, and I return to find that now the computer will not boot. The light on the tower comes on, there's the familiar whir and click, but the monitor does not show any activity, just a blank screen. Most of the time... I find that, if I leave it off for awhile, the monitor will display the startup screen and begin to boot when I turn on the computer, but then it goes blank again, always after reaching the Microsoft loading bar (see the image at bottom of this post).
It does this before I can enter startup repair or safe mode as well.  Also, when this happens, the tower will usually light up and power down several times before actually showing anything on screen.
That's the breadth and depth of it. Thank-you very much in advance.
P.S. There was a power outage several weeks ago, but I do have it connected to a surge protector. Could it be a virus?
