HP Pavilion DV6 3036tx_When Idle in 70s
I'm currently on Google Chrome and check the temps on SpeedFan or GPU-Z which both show that I'm 74c.
I'm currently running AMDs 13.9 catalyst driver and have the latest (2011) bios for this model.
If there are any other details you wish me to get, please fire up a request.
Thanks!

Possible, Yes, but Do I recommend: NO.
I would not recommend you to changing the wireless card on the notebook as this will void the warranty.

Core i7 HP Pavilion DV6 6011tx heats up-to 57C when idle and rises up-to 90C when on load!
Hi... I have an HP Pavilion DV6 6011tx laptop.. (with a core i7 cpu and 6GB ram).. When im using the laptop for browing, the temperatures rise upto 55 to 60 C! (Even with a cooling pad)... Yesterday, i tried to render a video with adobe premier... Then, temperatures rose upto 98C! But the laptop kept working....
Yesterday when i asked the HP support, they said that the normal temperature of a laptop should be between 30 to 40C... They asked me to contact a technician... The technicians at the shop where i bought this machine told me that 50 to 60C is normal!
Now i just want to know who is correct? Am i in a danger? Does my laptop have a heating problem? Or is it normal? You have not specified if it is the CPU or GPU that these temperatures are reported for. In either case 98C is way too high for CPU or GPU. The machine may work ok but the heat stress may significantly reduce the life of your computer. What mode have you set HP Coolsense to? I would recommend 'Performance' to keep those temps down. If its your CPU thats heating up drastically then try unistalling programs that you don't need. If that does not help, you can type 'config.sys' in the Windows command prompt and make sure no unecessary processes are running by disabling them from running on startup. Please note that disabling important Windows services can crash your computer so only do this if you are familiar with the Windows environment. If its the GPU that heating then you can check the ATI graphics driver setting to make sure it is running in balanced mode as opposed to performance mode. My HP Dv6-3015tx was very tame that the temps for CPU were between 50-65C and GPU never exceeded 65C with a cooling pad. I would say those are good temperatures for a laptop. I was interested in picking up the DV6-6000 series as a replacement but changed my mind because the central cooling fan did not have a direct air intake at the bottom. With my old DV6-3015 I just placed the machine so that one of the cooling fans in the cooling pad was blowing right into the laptops cooling fan air intake located on the upper right side of the machine directly feeding air into the machines cooling system. This reduced the machines temps by 10C under stress so I could game on for hours without breaking a sweat. After looking at the new DV6-6000 series I changed my mind about getting it because there is no direct inlet to boost the built in cooling system. Thereby you are at the mercy of HP's coolsense. Hope this helps.

I bought a new HP Pavilion dv6-6005sa 15.6" Laptop - Linen White on 14/06/11 from Currys digital, Arndale Centre, Manchester. The laptop is less than 1 week old.
The screen is a frost blue colour from the second I turn it on to the second it is turned off. Weirdly I can see the entire screen, just that everything is blue!! Does anybody know how this can happen??? When I move the screen it flickers from normal to this blue thing. A loose connection maybe?
I am unhappy as I got to send it back to the shop for a under 21 days replacement involving an expensive airmail delivery :@ The alternative would be a 3 week investigation in the lab which I cant be bothered with!
Has anybody else experienced this phenomenon with a HP laptop screen? I also am beginning to experience memory problems and the usb prots are on the blink. I have looked after it very well, it has just been sat on a desk for 5 days! Can anybody explain me this phenomenon and if it is a comon problem with HP laptops?
Now for the next problem as if a faulty screen and memory cache wouldnt be enough! The battery:
The battery specs are as follows:
Lithium-Ion 6-cell battery
'upto 7.5 hours battery life'
The battery is advertised to perform 'upto 7.5 hours' however I get maximum 4.5 hours doing absolutely nothing on power saver mode with the laptop with it just sitting there idle on a desk. At the same time I also had wireless and bluetooth off; screen brightness set to 0%, maximum processing chip power reduced to 20%; battery saver mode active; all major applications closed).
I get maximum 2-3 hours doing basic tasks with it such as word processing. Gaming I get maximum 1.5 hours.
The battery checker displays the following:
Status: Ok (0)
warrenty type: 1 year
cycle count 0
manufacturer: 13-42
battery age 136 days

I have highlighted in bold the things I thing are suspicious. I feel the results are those of a malfunctioning battery. Could anybody tell me if I am correct withmy assumptions?
As I am no expert coes anybody reading this think these results are normal for a new battery and can you provide me some insight to wether my battery might be faulty or not?
Basically I think at least one of the 6 cells inside the battery are malfunctioning.

If my replacement unit works how it is designed too it will be a beasty machine! I just hope my mate who is taking it back to the shop for me checks it properly before sending it me back!
JoeGo to Power Options in the Control panel and select the Power Saver option. Do not choose balanced. Then run your battery capacity tests again. Hopefully the new setting will improve the time that you get.

Hp pavilion dv6-2170ee overheating !!!
the hp pavilion dv6-2170ee laptop is overheating (Excess heat) !!!!
why ??!!!Try this:
Hello,
I decided to sacrifice 1 percent (just) of performance for the sake of cool temperatures and silent fan. I have HP DV6, with AMD Turion RM-74 and HD4650.
So, Yes, You will loose up to 1 percent Your CPU power, but heyh, this processor is so fast that You will barelly notice the change. You will still watch HD content with 720p and everything else smoothly. Note, that gaming will be harder part but consider Your laptop not as a device created for heavy gaming.
However,
I rarely do play NBA 2K10 on my laptop. It is very cpu demanding. After I've done the above, my CPU temp never reached beyond 71 percent while gaming, GPU - 75 percent.
Without the above mentioned my CPU went over 100 and GPU over 90.
No more overheating.
So, how to reduce Your notebook temps:
(i) Power Options -> More power options,
(ii) Balanced plan -> Change settings,
(iii) Change advanced power settings
(iv) Processor power management -> Maximum processor state -> On Battery - 50 percent, Plugged in - 99 percent.
(vi) Save changes and close.
Now, mine temperatures are - idle 48, heavy load - 57, extremelly heavy load (HD 720p content) - 62-63. (At the moment my CPU cores are at 47 celsius).
And please note, that the notebooks coolers are just a joke and designed not to cool your laptops, but to take away your money. Their effieciency is minimum: -1/2 celcius.
Best regards.

HP Pavilion dv6-6b50sa notebook - Fan problems
Product: HP Pavilion DV6-6b50sa
Operating system: Windows 7 64bit
BIOS version: F.19 05-2012
The fan on my laptop failed earlier during the year and was replaced with a new unit. However since then the fan seems not to run fast enough in response to increased loads on the cpu and GPU. For instance previously when starting a video game the fan would instantly kick up to a higher speed and remain there, cooling the laptop sufficiently. Now the fan will often take a lot longer to get up to speed, and with some games simply refuses to go beyond normal idling speeds even as the temperature increases.
Any help with this? I'm not sure if its a hardware or software issue. When I am back home again I will be replacing the fan with another new one to see. Tried updating the BIOS, have also installed HP coolsense and cleaned out the fan to no avail.
Any help with this would be much appreciated, thanks

High CPU temprature in HP Pavilion DV6 3190
hi guys !
i have a problem with my new laptop ! this is HP Pavilion DV6 3190 with this config :
CPU : intel core i7 720 QM 6MB cache
RAM : 6 GB DDR3
HDD: 640 5400 rpm
LED 15.6" screen
VGA : ATI 5650 with Catalyst driver 11.3 installed
I installed and configed all of laptop tools from this wiki page :
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Laptop
also when I run sensors command in konsole I have this output :
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +67.0°C (high = +84.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
coretemp-isa-0001
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 1: +66.0°C (high = +84.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

i think 66 C for a laptop is too high ! also in this wiki page i can see fan rmp and other detais about cpu and fan but i have not this information in my output:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fan_Speed_Control
also I have fanspeed plasmoid in my KDE desktop but it doesn't detect my cpu fan
P.S: i have KDE 4.6.2 with Xorg 1.9.4 and catalyst 11.3 driver.
How can I fix my problem ?there are my outputs :

Dedicated Graphic Card Failure (ATI) - HP Pavilion DV6
Hey guys,
I have HP pavilion Dv6 which have AMD Radeon Graphics card(may be 69xx or 74xx radeon series 1Gb ddr3).
Currently i have installed Windows 7 & Ubuntu(Dual boot).
Problem:
I was playing NFS when the system froze,so i turned it off forcefully, after that laptop always get stuck at windows logo.I also tried to switch the (bios)dynamic option(graphic) to fixed,in this option i do get past the logo but i am presented with blank screen ,in short no luck.
However i have managed to get it to work with ubuntu with intel default video card , through advanced recovery option.
What can i do to use some how similar approach for windows 7 i.e disable dedicated video card?
Can Graphics card can be repaired/changed easily?
ThanksHave you checked the hard drive using Diagnostics in BIOS? Or F2 immediately after power on? (F2 may not work if you deleted the Diagnostic partition to install Ubuntu)

Pavilion dv6-3130tx Blue Screen (BSOD) on adding RAM to second slot
Hi there,
I own a HP Pavilion dv6-3130tx with total of 3gb of RAM, one 1GB chip and one 2 GB chip. Recently I have been getting a lot of system crashes/freezes and occasional Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with a variety of error messages. On contacting HP care in India they said to check the RAM chips and the slot for any problem. I have identified that the second slot is one creating the problem as the system crashes if use any one of the chips on that slot while both the RAMs work fine on the other slot.
Additionaly the RAM port/slot cannot be replaced as such, and since it is out of warranty getting the motherboard replaced isn't an alternative either.
So does anyone have any idea what might be the best way out of this problem?Did the 3GB of RAM come with the computer or did you upgrade it at some point?
What version of Windows are you using?

How do i clean the air vents on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc?
Latelly, the fan on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC has been noiser than usual and it appears that my notebook becomes quite warm to the touch. The HP Support Assistant running on my notebook PC recommended that I can reduce the heat and fan noise by cleaning the air vents. How do I do this? Can I do this myself or do I have to have a professional do it?
Hi Rosie,
You can clean the vents on your notebook.
Buy a can of compressed air. Essentially, you need to gently blow out the vents with the compressed air to clear out the dirt and dust. You need a can with a small straw like attachment for the nozzle so you can point it directly toward the vents.
Do take a look at this document first so you know which way to point the air and how to avoid damaging the fan inside the notebook.

Problem With Pavilion DV6 3052nr Recovery Manager!!!!!!!!
1. HP Pavilion DV6 3052nr
2.Windows Seven HomePre OA x64
3. On Recovery Manager : I Deleted all of my parttions on my hard disk. then when I used recovery disks to restore it to its factory set , after extracting the image files on disks to the hard drive , system restarted and boot to the Recovery manager with " Restore Incomplete " error. Just help me,pleaseeeeeeeeHi:
You may have to purchase a set of HP recovery disks or if you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the bottom of your notebook (DON'T POST IT), you can do this...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

Hdmi video and audio for hp pavilion dv6 1050us does not work
I'm trying to use my hp pavilion dv6 1050us notebook with a TV Philips model 40PFL8605D using a HDMI cable but nothing function: can't get the image displayed at computer on the TV display. The HDMI cable and the same TV were tested using a ASUS notebook and everything worked all rigth: video and sound. Then I concluded that the only possible source of problem is my HP pavilion dv6 1050us notebook.
Can I get some help?Hi (:
I frequently play The Sims 3, I have all, but myabe 3, extensions. And I have a Pavilion dv6-6c15nr Entertainment PC. Now I was wondering, is this a bad idea? Occassionally, my games will freeze and even just completely glitch within the game, sometimes unallowing me to save. It's very frustrating, especially when you get so far. My question is would it be better to just get a gaming pc and leave this one to surfing the web and doing school work? Or is this one good, and can I download or buy something to help my computer maintain or improve its performance? -

Can i change graphic settings on a "HP Pavilion dv6-3161eo Entertainment notebook pc"?
Hi
I have a "HP Pavilion dv6-3161eo Entertainment notebook pc" and I run Windows 7 64-bit. Lately I bought a lot of games, and I was hoping to play them without any problems. I have been able to before, so nothing should get in my way for doing it now. But it seems that my graphic settings keep changing from time to time, since when I play, I get a lot of lagg, both online and offline. Sometimes I can play the games without any lagg, but the most times the games lagg when I play them. The times when I can play without any problems, I can also watch HD movies online, which I can't when i can't play the games without lagg. To make an example, I bought a game called "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim". When the game starts up, it automatically "Detect your video hardware and set video options accordingly". The most times when I start up the game, it sets the video quality to "low quality", but sometimes it sets the video quality to "high quality". Those times, I can also play the other games without lagg. I am almost sure, it is because my graphic settings on the pc are being changed, but I dont know how, or how to do it manually. So is it possible to solve this problem and/or change the graphic settings manually? You might have too many things running on the pc, such as browsers, music players, downloaders as you load the game which would explain the erratic behavior of the game checking your available settings.
PS, Skyrim Rocks, as does MW3

HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Notebook - Internal Hard Drive Options
Greetings,
I just purchased an HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Entertainment Notebook PC (at Costco), and so far it's been a great deal. Everything seems to be working just fine.
Because I do a lot of development work in Virtual Images, I have been running a number of external Hard Drivers from the notebook over the couple of weeks since I've owned it (including an external SSD). All that seems to work fine.
But, I was wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to install a second Hard Drive or SSD in this Notebook Model. I saw on the HP site that some Notebooks allow the installation of a second Hard Drive, but I couldn't find any information on this model that would suggest it can handle such a configuration.
My primary objective for doing this would be to retain the original 1TB Hard Drive that came with the Notebook, but have a secondary SSD Drive to perhaps run the Paging activity from, when such functionality is needed upon running some of my larger Virtual Images.
Any assistance with clarifying if this is an option with the HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Wayne

HP Pavilion DV6; Black Screen & Atikmpag.sys BSOD with external Monitor
Hello Guys.
I have HP Pavilion DV6 Core i7 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Graphics Card. Two weeks ago, I started getting continous Atikmpag, sys BSODs. The operating system also started giving me warnings about the hardrive. After a few days, the BSODs got more frequent. Then one day, I was doing normal stuff on my PC and the Display Driver crashed. Instead of recovering, the PC froze. I forced restart my PC but it got worse. The display of my laptop went black. I connected the laptop to external monitor which detected the display. When I tried to load the windows, it started giving me the Atikmpag.sys BSOD on the start up. Now the operating system works fine in the Safe Mode but with nothing on the laptop's screen. The soultions I have tried so far are.
-Reinstalled the windows thrice
-Removed the drivers and installed the updated ones a bunch of times.
-Rolled back the bios to an earlier version
-Removed the hardrive and tried to load it from an operating system installed on external flash drive
-Tried loading the PC with linux on external flash drive
-Opened the laptop and cleaned it thoroughly
-Removed all the components and plugged them one by one.
-Removed the old Atikmpag.sys in system32 folder and expanded it with the latest ones.
-Installed every thing fresh from HP website
None of these tricks have given me any luck yet. The only way, I could use the operating system in normal mode, is to delete the atikmpag.sys file in safe mode and then log on back in normal mode. I also analysed the minidump file through window debugger and it says that atikmpag.sys is causing this crash with the TDR message. I did all these with an external monitor as the display of the laptop is black since that day.
Below are the detailed specs of my laptop.
OS Name: Microsoft Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium
Version: 6.1.7601
System Model: HP Pavilion Dv6 Notebook PC
Processor: Intel Core i7 Q 721 @ 1.60 GHz
Bios Version/Date: Hewlett- Packard F.29, 11/7/2011
Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 6GB
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB
I have tried almost every solution available on these forums but still have not gotten any where. I am wondering how could the display, graphics card and hard drive stop working at the same time .
I would really appreciate if someone colud help me through this problem.
Thank you
