HP Pavilion dv6-3071tx bios freezes after bios flash

I updated my BIOs to http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55299.exe
Now it freezes at the BIOs on boot. I think it's due to a bad flash. I want to reflash it and I've followed the instructions where I place the BIOS file 01448F29.bin onto a usb stick named HP_TOOLS and held down Windows Key + B, however it just stays on a black screen.
How can I flash the BIOs again?

How to recover the BIOS

  • HP pavilion dv6 restoration incomplete after recovery

I recently try to facotry reset my Hp pavilion dv6 using the recovery usb I make with the HP program when I brought this laptop, but it said "restoration incomplete".
I have ran the hard drive check and mem test at the BIOS and there isnt any problem. I also did a full format on the hard drive and it works. So I dont think there are any bad sector on hard drive.
I did factory reset, miniimze windows install...all the option I can had on the recovery problem but It doesnt work.
Once It finish the installation and laptop is restart, it automatically boot into the HP recovery program and said "restoration incomplete".
I am wondering how can I find my license product key so I can install a windows 7 or any other solution?
    Thank you

Sorry no solution for you but I to have a DV6 that no longer allows the DVD drive, bluetooth, web cam, wi-di and probably a load of other things to work to work.  I've never been able to make back ups of my settings so like you want to start again. Please HP answer this question as I'd love to try Windows 7 also.  P.s. never had so much trouble with a laptop!!!!  Runs hot, can't system restore, can't use the simple things I'm used to on any other laptop!!

  • Bios freezes after jumping jbat1 (msi P41-C31)

In school we built a computer that has the following motherboard msi P41-C31, 500gb hdd, Pentium dual core 2.80 ghz (E5500), two 2gb ddr3 1066 ram, sparkle nvidia geforce 8400s 256 ddr 2. When we installed xp 32bit and vista 32 bit it only showed 2gb memory usable memory. We went in the bios and it says 2gb usable memory. So someone in the class jumped there jbat1 and got the 4gb of ram to work. I did that with mine and it worked. And today the teacher did some things to the computer. I fixed every thing she did to it. Now i don't have 4gb of ram I'm back down to 2gb. so i jumped the jbat1 again when i go into the bios to set the time and date when i save, it freezes. The power button wont shut it down so i had to turn it off with the power supply button on the back. Now it wont turn on so i have to jiggle the jbat while pressing the power button to turn it back on. Then i go into the bios to set the time and date it freezes i have to keep doing the same thing over and over again. I didn't tell the teacher yet any ideas?

This is just speculation in trying to help your situation: Maybe she set the CMOS jumper and didn't remember to set it back into its proper position??
she did not mess with it other then switching the voltage meter and one memory slot was not seeded correctly. Before fixing it she told us to power on to see which one of us  she messed with. So i did then i fixed it every thing was fine but that took me back down to 2gb so i jumped it.

  • BIOS freezes after enabling RAID

Even since I setup my RAID array, when I try to go into the BIOS, it is frozen.  I cant move the cursor at all.  I have tried waiting about 2 mins to see if it just needed some time to initilize the RAID but nothing.  If I clear the CMOS, I can get back into the BIOS fine, untill I enable the RAID again.
I have 2 IBM 60GB in a raid 0 array on IDE primary master and slave.  I have looked around and havent found anyone else with a similar issue.  My OS is installed on the RAID array, and I cant boot into windows fine and everyhting is stable, so I dont think it is a hardware issue.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • HP Pavilion P7-1225 Desktop Freezes After Startup. Frustrated!

    Hi,
My family's HP Pavilion P7-1225 desktop computer freezes a few moments after startup, most times. However, it will occasionally work just fine for hours and then suddenly lock up. Over the weekend a sort of clicking sound was heard followed immediately by the freeze. Restarted a few times, heard noise, got lock up. We're not hearing the noise now but it's still freezing up.
We have yet to talk to HP Support about it, but no other professional has been able to solve it (and we have had many try). Please help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Leo

    Hi Leo,
Many things could be causing your issue.  Intermittent freezes can be very difficult to solve.  Since so many professionals have already tried to solve your issue then it's probably time to contact HP Support.  As such, I am not going to suggest what has probably already been suggested and/or tested.
I don't know if you are using an UPS but transient changes in line voltage (too low or even too high) will often times cause a failover and clicking noises (relay closing and opening) with some UPSs will be heard.  I hear clicks from my UPS at times even though the lights don't flicker.  A poor or faulty UPS could cause issues like you are experiencing.  You might also having an electrican check the circuits in your house.  You might want to isolate your PC equipment off circuits that might have high current start up devices that might cause local voltage surges.

    hi nikola1970,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Do a hard shutdown by holding the power button for 10secs.
    2. Press the OneKey Recovery button and see if you get the Novo Button Menu where you can access the BIOS or even perform a factory restore via System Recovery.
       - Link to picture
    3. If accessing the BIOS works but you're not able to restore Windows, you can try the following:
    Option A:
      a. Contact lenovo and request for a recovery disc and/or to reflash the BIOS (you may need to send the unit in this case).
        - Support phone list
    Option B:
      b. Check this guide on how to obtain a Windows 8.1 ISO (see Option One)
      c. When finished, follow this guide to make a bootable UEFI Win8.1 installer via DVD or USB flashdrive and use it to install Windows (the installation should be able to detect the Windows 8.1 product key in the UEFI firmware that will let you activate Windows).
      d. If successful, obtain the drivers from the lenovo drivers page .

  • Pavilion dv6-1230us Black Screen after installing Windows 7...Please Help

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 and everything was working fine until my computer went into hibernation.   Before this, I installed all the drivers and software from the HP website for my computer for Windows 32 bit setup.  After my computer went into hibernation, my computer will not start up in normal mode; rather, it starts in safe mode only.  When its starts in normal mode, the screen just turns black and nothing happens.  The login screen comes up perfectly fine but after I login at startup, the screen just turns black.  Please help, I don't know what else to do whether it is a driver or software issue from the software from the HP site.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Sleep Mode Issue After Windows 10 Upgrade (Goes To Sleep After 2 Min Of Inactivity)

I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The upgrade went smooth and everything appears to be running fine except for one anoying glitch. After approx. 2 min of inactivity my laptop atuomatically goes into sleep mode and logs me out. I have checked all my power settings/sleep settings/screen saver settings...etc and I have completed all the windows updates. I don't see any timers anywhere that require adjustment. Any help would be appreciated. Note: The laptop wakes up fine with no issues.

Hello Konacha, Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!I have read your thread regarding the computer entering sleep mode, upon Administrative prompts or a restart. There isn't a lot that could be done, but by the end of it, the issue should be resolved  Hopefully, the simple fix is creating a new power plan. Your current power plan may be incorrectly configured. This Microsoft website can help with all the details of this task: Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme)  If that doesn't help, then personally, I would reinstall the operating system. This will fix it, as it will address any software conflict or virus that could be causing this. First, you should backup your data. I will provide information on how to do that: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7) Once this is done, it is safe to do the System Recovery. Here is some information on how to do this: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7) Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for posting, and have a great day! Mario

  • Pavilion dv6, speaker buzzing starts after a minute or so when using Skype. This is a new computer

communications thru Skype are fine for about a minute and then buzzing/humming starts coming from speakers and becomes unusable. Using headset does not help. I have installed all updates and computer passes all self tests.

    Hi mowall4704,
Please post your Product number (please don’t post your serial number).
What happens when you play music out of the speakers - does the same thing happen (buzzing/humming sounds come from the speakers)?
You say using headset does not help. What happens when you use the headset?
    Thanks,

  • System freeze after prolonged Flash usage

    Hello,
I stumbled across this thread as i am having exactly the same problems as Fossil, although he has been quiet so i guess disabling hardware acceleration worked for him. However this is not working for me, I have sent two graphics cards back on the strength of this issue and im still getting it on my third card! Firstly my system:
    Intel Core I7-3930K 3.20GHz Socket 2011 12MB Cache
    32GB RAM Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 2000MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.65V
    Asus P9X79 PRO S2011 Intel X79 DDR3 ATX Motherboard
    Corsair 120GB SSD
    Samsung Synch Master MD230x3 Monitors
    Windows 7 Pro (64bit)
Now because im using eyefinity monitors i bought this card:
    PowerColor HD 6870 2GB GDDR5
First one failed instantly when i played any sort of flash video, on advice from retailer i sent it back (they said it was a known issue with some AMD 6870 cards, Second one came back and was slightly better which was odd but the same problem, i formatted the drive and started from scratch only installing the latest drivers from Powercolor rather than using the supplied disk and then upgrading.
After opening multiple websites using flash such as you tube, bbc news videos etc system just freezes forcing a reboot. I used core temp plus the video card supplied performance monitor, i saw no increase in system temps, fan speeds or power being supplied. Supplier would only refund my money as the card went out of stock which is a pain because this is one of the few that support 6 monitors via mini dp port at a reasonable price So I ordered the following card:
    PowerColor HD 7870 PCS+ 2GB GDDR5
Only supports 4 monitors but as my board is pci 3.0 i thought i would try a card that supports it to see if this solves the problem.
Well it didn’t! After about an hour of usage with flash websites i get a system freeze. If i uninstall flash, i dont get any problems at all.
Adobe, i need some help here guys because this is not normal and if there is a problem with the latest hardware architectures then I need a fix.
    Regards

Yeah i was not sure about creating a new thread as the original problem had not been solved but thanks for the update Fossil, glad you got it working on an older version however i dont think thats a satisfactory solution from Adobe, we cant all stay on older versions of flash as some websites will not funtion without the latest player.
    Chris,
    Thanks for your prompt response
I am following your advice and yes i have done just about everything apart from the bug report thing and this interesting step:
In addition to updating your video drivers and disabling Flash Player hardware acceleration, please try the following steps:
    Windows:
    Close all browsers
    Open an explorer window
Navigate to the following folders and delete the contents
    %appdata%\adobe\Flash Player\
    %appdata%\macromedia\
Finally, restart your browser and try again
I have no idea why that step should have any impact on this issue, however I have been running flash websites with HA turned off (this is one of the first things i tried on the previous graphics cards and i still experience the failure) for about an hour now (10 open at the same time + 3 or 4 flash youtube videos playing) and all looks good so far.
Note, i had performed some archiving last night which caused high disk i/o + cpu usage over a period of about 14 hours and i did not experience a system crash.
I will update you later today or as soon as i experience the failure.
    Regards
    Regan

  • Speedlite 600EX-RT connected to Hama 6977 "freezes" after first flash

For microphotography, I use two 600EX-RT flashes. I don't really care how, but I want to fire them at the same time using second curtain sync. Second curtain sync is crucial for me. Canon does not support this sync type when there is radio or optical communication either between two flashes or between the radio transmitter and one or mor flashes.
Therefore, I have connected one flash using a hotshoe extension cable and the other is connected either via the hotshoe or via a PC sync cable to a Hama 6977 slave unit. Immediately after the first flash is fired, the flash connected to the Hama slave unit completely freezes and it does not respond to any buttons whatsoever. The only way to "fix" it is by either detaching and reattaching the Hama slave unit or by switching the flash off and on again. I experience this with the second flash in "normal", slave or master mode, but I need some mode where I can manually adjust the flash output (which is not possible in slave mode).
What am I doing wrong here and how can I solve this issue? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!
    Niels

  • Computer freezes after installimg flash player

i am using windows 7 and trying to install the latest version of flash but when i so my system starts to freeze so i have to do a system restore to fix problem any known fixes for this problem? sorry i am not very computer literate so plz keep that in mind when replying to my question
    thanks

A freezing PC suggests a serious hardware and/or software problem. As it works on another PC obviously the Micro isn't directly at fault, although it could be a USB incompatibility with this PC. USB incompatibilities are always a pain to diagnose, so if you don't mind spending a little extra money you might find a PCI USB card a quick solution. Make sure to get a known good card i.e. Belkin or Adaptec.
Failing this, and if you don't want to get a PCI USB card just yet, there's lots of connection troubleshooting advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

  • After partitioning hd of my hp pavilion dv6-6017tx my basic drives converted into dynamic

recently i ordered recovery discs from hp support for my hp pavilion dv6-6017tx notebook. After getting them i recovered my laptop to factory setting. there were four partitions namely  C, RECOVERY, HP TOOLS and SYSTEM.I wanted to partition hd so  I partitioned c drive after shrinking it in disk management. all my basic drives got converted into dynamic. [i wasnt aware of the terms basic and dynamic drives]. Now my query is whether it poses  risk to my laptop. is there any procedure of converting back to basic.

    Hi stat10,
I see you have some concerns regarding the Basic as opposed to the Dynamic drives. I am sending you this document for Basic and Dynamic Disks that explains what the difference is between Basic and Dynamic. To answer your concerns about this posing a risk to your computer, the answer is no, it will not hurt anything.
In short, Basic keeps your files altogether in one section of blocks to create a partition and Dynamic allows you to spread files over multiple blocks to create a partition.
The only suggestion I have, is before creating partitions you should always defrag your computer first so that your files would be compressed in one section of blocks and not spread out over multiple blocks.
I hope this information is useful, please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Take care and have a great day!
