HP Pavilion dv6-6121TX- UIA write failed 3 times.

Hi people...
I have HP Pavilion dv6-6121TX laptop with Windows 7 operating system.
Just a few days back I changed my HDD and then performed a System Recovery with the 3 discs given to me by HP.
After doing the same, when rebooting the laptop is showing "UIA WRITE FAILED 3
TIMES." with a log getting generated.
I performed both the "Primary Hard Disk Self Test" and "Memory Test" but my laptop is not booting with the aforesaid error being shown.
Would be extremely obliged for any help.
Thanks in anticipation.

Its solution is quite simple.
For solving this problem, you need a windows 7 or 8 dvd(or by a bootable pendrive with  win7,8).for complete restoration you have to follow the steps
Step1:insert win7/8 dvd and restart your pc.Enter the boot menu and select cd/dvd option to boot from dvd(for bootable pendrive, select that option).
Step2:After windows have loaded the windows files, click on install win7/8.
Step3:select custom installation
Step4:Now you will get a window with your harddisk partions.Click on Advanced option in the bottom of the table showing partition list.
Step5: Delete all partions for obtaining a single drive.
Step6:After deleting all drives, you will get a single drive showing your harddisk size.Click on that drive and then select 'new' from bottom options.
Step7:Then windows will show a warnig.Click on 'YES'.And dont make any change to partion size and proceed.
Step8:After doing this you will get a 100mb system reseved memory and rest of your harddisk size as a drive. Then close the installation window.Restart you pc with windows 7/8 recovery disk. And do the same procedure you done early. Then the installation will complete without any errors. And you can have the OS as per the installation media have..
good luck..

  • Fail to complete HP restoration. Error mess - "CTO Error Flg" + "[205] UIA Write Failed 3 Times!!!"

After failing to recover my system from the recovery software on the D-harddisk partition, I bought HP Recovery disks from HP support and installed the first disk as per instructions and turned on the PC . I also pressed ESC on powerup and then selected F9 to boot from DVD. After 5 minutes of accessing the HP recovery disks in the DVD drive, an error message resulted stating that "HP Restoration Incomplete". I looked at the details of the error and showed another error message stating "[205] UIA Write Failed 3 Times!!!". ANyway I try to make the PC recover either from the Recovery manager using the HP Recovery Manager & Recovery software on the D-Hard Disk partition or using the HP Recovery DVD s I get both ways the same "CTO Error flg" + "[205] UIA Write failed 3 times". ANy thing else that can be done, please?

Thank you for the response. Since I posted my problem description on this Forum, I was working directly with HP Support and ultimately found that I needed to push the F9 button immediately as the PC was poweringup. DOing this correctly then let the HP provided Recovery disks ( I bought them from HP) be actually read by the system and recovery correctly proceded.
But this shows there is some buggy issue with the HP hard disk test that i ran several times and each time showed a hard disk Fault message with result [305 ] and also [303] - which led me to almost placin an expensive purchase for a replacement HP 320 GB disk drive.
Thankfully the HP support people were so thorough with me and kep calling me back to follow up with me to check how I was doing that then I got my HP laptop back working. otherwise I would have made a mistake and installed third disk, the HP Driver disk - and its working great now and faster than ever.
    Thank you Hewlett Packard.
Actually I was aware of this type of support from HP since the 1970s when I was buying and installing HP A2100 servers, then HP 1000 servers, then HP 9000 server, and I met  and had presentations from HP's Engineering team and management in  California presenting to me and my boss the the next type of  systems that HP was developing for the future,  and then the HP-DEC ALpha machinea - All of this to have the best  computers with the best support to operate General Electric's (GE Americom at the time) critically important ground control systems that fly most of the commercial SATCOM satellites over the USA.  Even though I have left that job a while back, SES AMericom is still using HP computer to fly upwards of 20+ satellites over the USA and around the world.
Just shows why HP is the longest lived computer company and will continue to be!!!
My Support case number was 3013351909 so that whoever the HP support lady might get some credits for for her excellence and how well she persisted on her initiative to continually checkin with me and guide me and helped prevent me from buying a hard disk when I didn't need to.
Thank you HP and Regards to the long lived realtionship with me!

  • HP Pavillion dv7-6b56nr "[205] UIA Write FAILed 3 times !!!"

My mother's Laptop starting running "slow".
She didn't tell me and start running it in Safe Mode with Networking all the time to get it online.
Then it would not boot into Windows at all.
    She brings it to me.
HDD tests come back 100% no errors.
I use Recovery Manager to reinstall from the Recovery partition.
Everything seems to be fine until I press continue to reboot into Windows to install after recovery has built the partition (AFAIK that is what is happening at that point).
After Windows loads up, the Recovery Manager pops up right away and states "Restoration Incomplete".
Clicking on Details brings up a CTOERROR.flg document that states: "[205] UIA Write FAILed 3 times !!!".
At this point I am confused. The recovery software is malfunctioning, the HDD is bad, or maybe a combination of both. I have looked for the Recovery disks on the HP Software and Driver Support site and after entering all the information asked for I get nowhere with no option to dowload OR purchase (which I would happily do). I am going to try a clean install with an old Windows 7 disk/key and see if that works.  Any additional support would be great.

Answer the questions from the previous post before you ask questions beyond the original one. If you don't answer then  I will move on to a thread where someone whom needs help will cooperate in trubleshooting an issue.
If you have anything plugged into a usb port remove it. Do not touch any keys while performing a system recovery.
Why did you ask the questions about the partition types? Did you modify or change the partition types? If you modified the recovery partition to dynamic then a recovery will not work.
Did you make a recovery disk set or a usb recovery media flash disk?

  • HP Pavilion Dv6 3125ej needs "hard reset" every time when turning on

I have an issue that each time after the compuer shuts down, the first startup stucks on black screen. I have to do hard reset and only after the windows comes up.any ideas how to solve it? I've already checked my BIOS version and it's the latest one (F.29)

You need to do a clean install of Windows on it. The hdd has drivers for completely different hardware. Too bad you didn't make your Recovery disc set. It would restore the hdd to HP with all drivers/software installed. That would depend on if the hdd is at least the same capacity or larger than the original. Recovery Discs balk at a smaller capacity hdd. You can order Recovery Medai for about $16: https://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/mediaOrder?cc=us&lc=en&productOid=5173064&softwareitem=656000-002 ================================== If you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7 license key, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD or USB flash drive. The version  must match version that came installed on your PC as  listed on the Microsoft COA sticker attached to bottom of laptop. Such as Windows Home Premium. Link to the Windows 7 ISO file downloads: http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/page/9/  You can use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to convert the ISO file you download. I have been down now since last Thurday and today is Tuesday. i am using my son's laptop for help.
Also, I purchased this second hand and there is not any software discs for windows or drivers. I have purchased a new flash drive to put windows and drivers onto for the restore and it says there is not enough room. I am so lost. I thought i could maybe download the software from HP through my son's computer onto the flashdrive and then load to my computer that way to get my systems started . Anyone have an idea where i went wrong?

Is the (twenty five characters) complete product key visible on the Windows certtificate of authenticity? You will neeed it to perform a clean install of Windows 7.
have you tested the hard disk?

  • Hp pavilion dv6 recovery fails

hey everyone first post on the forum
i have an hp pavilion dv6 that came with 64 bit windows 7 home premium installed. i tried to dual boot Ubuntu with it and ended up overwriting windows. lots more story but i ended up calling hp and ordering recovery discs for my laptop. i then zeroed my hard drive and ran the 3 recovery discs. it prompted my supplemental disc which I inserted. all went well until the "setting up for first use"screen appeared. hp software began installing stuff the during the drivers part it comes up with recovery failed. i ran without the supplemental disc and it did the same thing. someone please help

    Hi,
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 character Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
Assuming that this is just a problem with the Recovery process, there is a straight forward work around.
Create a retail installation disc yourself - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the exact same as the version you currently have )  from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers you may need can be found starting Here.

  • Copy File Fails during Recovery on Pavilion DV6 Windows 7

I need help!  I have a Pavilion DV6 with Windows 7, my hard drive died so I bought a new one, it is just like the one that died.  I ordered the recovery discs from HP  When it gets to 98% on the 2nd disc I get the following message
    Copy File Fails
    From: D:\PRELOAD\BASE8.SWM
    To: C:\RM\Image\BASE8.SWM
    Press OK to retry
I have done this several times but it just comes back.  I tried turning it off and starting over with disc 1 but it just does the same thing again.
    Can anyone help me please?

If you can read the 25 character Microsoft Windows 7 license key attached to bottom of laptop , you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD for the version that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker.
Link to the Windows 7 ISO file downloads:
    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/
Get ImgBurn to burn the iso image to DVD using slow burn speed.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to convert the ISO file to a Windows installation on DVD or USB flash drive.

  • SOLVED: HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Windows 7 Recovery Partition Failed, Windows Partition Formatted

Hello everyone. I just joined the community, so I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong place or if I do not supply all the needed information about my computer and problem in this first post.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Entertainment Notebook PC, which came with Windows 7 Home Edition, and an HP Recovery Partition. Today, I decided I wanted to start from scratch, as the system was getting pretty slow, and the User folders were becoming very unorganized. So I followed the instructions found at the HP website and used the program HP Recovery Manager. However, after the Recovery Partition formatted the Windows Partition, and had three minutes left to copy the files into the new partition, a message popped up declaring the recovery failed, and the computer had to be rebooted. So now I have a computer with no operating system on it at all, and the Recovery Partition continues to fail. I have used the Recovery Partition before, and this has never happened.
Has anyone encountered or know of a similar issue? Does anyone know a solution? Am I out of luck, or is there someway to ask HP for a copy of the installation media?
    Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Never mind. I found a forum post with my answer. Sorry to anyone who spent the time to read this post.

  • URGENT QUESTION concerning Pavilion DV6 laptop charger

    Hey I have a question: I have two HP laptops; one is the Pavilion dv6 and has a charger with the series number PPP009L-E, with input 1.6A and 65W;
The other laptop is the Pavilion dv6-3236NR, with the charger having the series number PPP009D, with input 1.7A and 65W.
My question is, can I use the second charger for the first charger's laptop? My first Pavilion dv6 won't charge at all! Could someone PLEASE help me ASAP and tell me if it's the charger's problem, battery problem, or both, and whether I could use the second charger on the laptop!

    Hi Sekhar,
Well the error code would certainly indicate that the drive has started to fail, but just in case, you could try wiping the entire Hard Drive first and then reinstalling the Operating System as described below.
Download and install Killdisk on the link below - ( this application will write zeros to the entire drive ).
    http://software.lsoft.net/KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup.exe
Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.
    http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html
Go to the Kill Disk application you have installed in All Programs, open the main folder, then select Bootable Disk creators and from that select Bootable DOS CD Creator which will burn the bootable ISO to a blank CD.
During the next process do not worry about any warnings as your Windows 7 installation disc will reformat the HDD.
Insert this CD in to your PC that is unable to load Operating System properly. Shut the notebook down, then start it again to boot from the Killdisk CD and follow the on screen instructions for Kill Disk.
A brief description of the process is here Killdisk.
Use this to wipe the whole of the Hard Drive, highlight (80h) and press f10 ( you will also have to type a confirmation and hit enter ) - ( this will make sure you include all partitions and then start the process - this may take a couple of hours! ).
When the process is complete, remove the Killdisk CD and try installing Windows 7 again.
If it still fails, I think your only option is to replace the HDD.
