i have a hp pavilion dv6-6c15nr laptop running on windows 7 64 bit.it is formatted and it is slow while using programms or games which used to run perfectly normal.i think the problem may be a faulty driver.im looking forward to your reply.thank you for helping.

HP Pavilion dv6-3050tx Overheating while Running Over Battery

I have an hp pavilion dv6-3050tx, Running Windows-7 64 bit. Few days back I had changed my battery as my earlier battery was not able to provide backup more than 5min. But after inserting the new battery I am facing a problem.
When I unplug the charger, after some time my pc get hibernated, and when I again turn it on it shows following massage
"The system bios has detected your notebook PC was placed in hibernation to avoid overheating.
The system is now operating normally and your data should remain intact.
Overheating may occur if the cooling vents are blocked or the operating temperature exceed the specification. The notebook PC should return to normal operation once the situation is resolved.
System Temperature (90D)"
I cleaned the fan and also applied thermal paste, but the problem is still there. And the main thing is, it happens only when the pc is running over battery, on Plug-in I have used my pc for 3-4 hours continuously and its running smoothly. But as soon as I unplugged the charger, the fan starts moving faster and soon after some time the pc automatically gets into hibernation due to overheating.
Again I am saying specifically that, this problem occurs only when the PC is running over battery. While Plug-in pc runs smoothly and properly.

HP Pavilion dv6 System Recovery disabled

I bought my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook (running Windows 7) about 2 and a half years back.
It worked beautifully for about an year and a half after which issues began to crop up. First, it was my battery that gave up (I operate it on direct power now with battery backup of around 5 minutes), then there were blue screen errors and the machine getting hot around the bottom left at times (mostly when I ran games). I still continued to use it without taking it to the techician. After a couple more months the DVD drive stopped working for no reason (it opens and closes but does not read the disks).
I had it last week when the machine's fan (I guess it's the fan) started making loud grinding noises. The noises get louder when I'm on the internet. The technician took it down and gave the fan a proper vacuum but the noise persists.
Also, the system has slowed down due to virus attacks (I suppose). There are weird advertisements on this laptop when I run sites like youtube and google. These ads that don't appear on my other laptop. Some sites take an awful lot longer to load (mostly on Google Chrome). The system also, at times, just stops responding and I have to directly switch it off without properly shutting it down.
Now, with some help from forums here I decided to run the 'System Recovery' but it displays the following message:
"Restore your computer to it's original factory condition (Disabled : Please use Recovery Media to recover your system)." I was given no disks for recovery at the time of purchase not that it would have been of any use as my DVD drive no longer works.
With some online help I also ran Hard drive and Memory tests. The Hard Drive test gives the error: "hard disk 1 quick (303)." I gather that means, my hard disk is dying a slow death now.
Now my system has ran down it's warranty and nothing seems to work. The machine seems to be in a tangle, what do I do?
I somehow would love to factory reset my laptop without an external drive. Is that Possible? What am I looking at?

Hdmi video and audio for hp pavilion dv6 1050us does not work

I'm trying to use my hp pavilion dv6 1050us notebook with a TV Philips model 40PFL8605D using a HDMI cable but nothing function: can't get the image displayed at computer on the TV display. The HDMI cable and the same TV were tested using a ASUS notebook and everything worked all rigth: video and sound. Then I concluded that the only possible source of problem is my HP pavilion dv6 1050us notebook.
Can I get some help?

I frequently play The Sims 3, I have all, but myabe 3, extensions. And I have a Pavilion dv6-6c15nr Entertainment PC. Now I was wondering, is this a bad idea? Occassionally, my games will freeze and even just completely glitch within the game, sometimes unallowing me to save. It's very frustrating, especially when you get so far. My question is would it be better to just get a gaming pc and leave this one to surfing the web and doing school work? Or is this one good, and can I download or buy something to help my computer maintain or improve its performance?

USB ports died after BIOS update on Pavilion dv6

I have a Pavilion dv6-03013cl running Windows 7 64-bit. Bought six months ago, and all was fine until this morning.
The HP support assist software told me to update the BIOS, which I did. And then all the USB ports stopped working. In Device Manager, it shows that all have a yellow triangle w/exclamation point. I've got two USB hubs, and into them are two printers, wireless mouse & keyboard, flash drives, and blue tooth adapter.
I just spent two hours on the phone with tech support in India, and he walked me through several possible fixes. System Restore does not work -- no matter what restore point I try, it hangs, taking hours (he said it should take no more than 10 minutes). Through all of this (and the following) all the USB hubs and devices were unplugged. Each step I would try just the flash drive (which works fine in the laptop on my other desk).
Tried uninstalling all the USB ports from Device Manager; that didn't help.
Tried Recovery Manager, but the USB was not on the list.
Tried rebooting hitting F8 to "last known good configuration", which didn't help.
Tried downloading BIOS from HP site, which didn't work.
Finally he told me the only solution is System Recovery, which will send me back to factory settings; meaning I'd need to reinstall all software and data files. I really do not want to do that.
Any suggestions for me would be much appreciated.

What is the maximum amount of RAM allowed for a HP Pavilion dv6-7010eo?

Wanting to upgrade the RAM in our Pavilion dv6-7010eo running Window 7 (64 bit).
Have read some conflicting information.. Some say that this model supports 16GB (2x8GB) whereas other say that it only supports 8GB (2x4GB)...
What is correct? 8GB or 16GB?

Every place I can find information about your actual laptop dv6-7010eo, not 7010us, it says 8 gb max.

Pavilion dv6 went dark

I have a Pavilion dv6 laptop running MS7pro. The screen recently went black. I am running it using an attached monitor. The backlight is working. I suspect it needs to be re-plugged ie unplugged and then plugged back in. Any suggestions?

This could be a hardware problem with the display screen itself if you are able to see it on an external monitor. AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In (HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa)

I have just booted up my HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa (running on Windows 7) laptop to find that the sound icon has a red cross next to it and it claims that 'No speakers or headphones are plugged in'. In the Control Panel it states that the AMD High Definition Audio Device is Not Plugged In. As far as I know, I've done nothing to cause this.I have already tried:System restore to yesterday at 10pm;Instalation of a TDI driver from the HP website, however I do not know how to edit/disable/delete the old driver. I'm completely clueless about these things. Please help, I'm at a complete loss.

This happened to me too. I own an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr (Windows Vista). The internal hard drive stopped working, I took it to a computer repair shop, they put in a new internal hard drive, asked Microsoft for a key code and jump started the laptop. I took it home with me yesterday, watched a few videos and wondered why the sound wasn't working. The volume light on the laptop base was indicated as red (which meant the volume was off, even when the volume on the laptop screen was on). The only way I was able to hear sounds from videos was when I put my ear phones on.
I read somebody say that this happened to them and they restarted/rebooted their computer. I did that and, expectedly, it didn't work. I came across this page, opened up "Device Manager," opened up "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right-clicked the "IDT Device" and then uninstalled it. My laptop then restarted and thankfully the sound was back up. I didn't need to download anything or right click the "IDT Installer" or "Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button" or any of that. It thankfully came back without me having to do any of that. I restarted/rebooted my computer to see if it was a fluke, and thankfully it worked again. Now I don't have to use my ear phones. My ears didn't like being pumped with sound, even when it was on low. My "Digital Display Audio" is still not checked green. It says that it's "not plugged in." But hopefully I won't run into this problem again in the future. Because if I'm a week or two or a month removed, the repair people I initially went to for my internal hard drive problem, will say that this was a separate issue caused by me and will charge me extra, when it was in fact caused by them (not maliciously of course, I guess this kind of thing happens when you replace a hard drive, as do a lot of other things which I'm not beginning to see). im having problems with my gaming headset mic not working and its because of the drivers, but the drivers from hp site are from 2011-05-06 there has to be a newer one but i cant find it can anyone help or have an other ideas that might work

Right click the audio options in the notifications area of your task bar.
Select "Recording Devices."
If you do not see your mic, right click the dialog box select "Show Disabled Devices."
If it shows up, right click on the device and select "Enable."

No sound from built in speakers but headphones ok, pavilion dv6

HI all,
Out of a sudden , after watching a youtube video, my speakers and headphone gave noise when I was RE playing the video that I watched seconds ago.
I restarted my lap, and then didn't hear a sound at all
checked my drivers and updated them
the headphone is working fine. but when I unplug it I hear no sound from my built in speakers. though the drivers are working fine.
took my lap for maintenance to get it cleaned up and checked, they told me the speakers are connected and the wires are all fine! but the problem still exists.
they wanted me to leave it with them to be checked ... but I just didn't trust them since they suggested the sound card is damaged! if it was dagamed I don't think I'll be getting any sounds ! right ?
please, can any one tell me what could be the problem ? and how to solve it ?

You can try installing this IDT High-Definition Audio driver, it is not for your model but it is a Windows 8.1 driver. There are no Windows 8.1 driver for your model. If installing that driver doesn't work then it is a most likely a hardware issue with the speakers and you should have either a local technician take a look at it or send it to HP for repairs. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

Super slow start up on Pavilion DV6

Hi,
I have a Pavilion DV6 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit OS. Until recently, it was working fine. Now, most often the computer just freezes at start up. After loding the start up programs, it goes into a busy state. nothing works. I dont remember making any major changes to the software or installing a new software before this slow start up. What should I do now? Will system restore to factory settings set things right? I also have data that I dont wish to loose in a secondary partition. So, if I restore it to factory settings, will I loose that partition?

How do i clean the air vents on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc?

Latelly, the fan on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC has been noiser than usual and it appears that my notebook becomes quite warm to the touch. The HP Support Assistant running on my notebook PC recommended that I can reduce the heat and fan noise by cleaning the air vents. How do I do this? Can I do this myself or do I have to have a professional do it?

You can clean the vents on your notebook.
Buy a can of compressed air. Essentially, you need to gently blow out the vents with the compressed air to clear out the dirt and dust. You need a can with a small straw like attachment for the nozzle so you can point it directly toward the vents.
Do take a look at this document first so you know which way to point the air and how to avoid damaging the fan inside the notebook.
