HP Pavilion dv6-7173er (Bootloader recovery)

Greetings!
I happened a problem with the recovery partition (F11 at startup click and nothing happens) .
So, restored backup (Partition Recovery) created in Nero BackItUp, when you press the F11 recovery system booted from C:\Windows.
Recovered from the boot loader, but not that which is necessary !
Now when you press F11 on the target operating system launches .
How to recover a record store(MBR) BCD and BOOTMGR?
Another problem with the HP Recovery Manager (writes recovery disk removed and roll back to the original system is no longer available).
But this has been changed ! Section Recovery and HP_TOOLS active and created.
Translated using Google translator since I Russian .

Hi Agregat,
I can certainly understand how frustrating this must be for you.
Alright, let's tackle this another way. Follow the steps in this document for Create a system repair disc and see if we can create this disc.
Once you have the disc created, then follow the steps in this document for Use Bootrec.exe in the Windows RE to troubleshoot startup issues to fix your Master Boot Record.
I truly hope this works for you, I will be waiting for your reply.
Good luck,

Does disk management show the HDD as basic or dynamic? (Start>Right-click Computer>Manage>disk management on the left).
If it has been switched to dynamic (Windows does this automatically when more than 4 partitions are present on the disk), then the F11 recovery partition won't function until it is restored to basic, but I would like to confirm that is the scenario before providing those steps.
The Disk management shows that my HDD as Dynamic, what should i do then if this is the case and the possible solution to my problem?

If you have more than 4 partitions you will need to delete the extra partition/partitions, then convert the hdd back to Basic.

  • SOLVED: HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Windows 7 Recovery Partition Failed, Windows Partition Formatted

Hello everyone. I just joined the community, so I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong place or if I do not supply all the needed information about my computer and problem in this first post.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Entertainment Notebook PC, which came with Windows 7 Home Edition, and an HP Recovery Partition. Today, I decided I wanted to start from scratch, as the system was getting pretty slow, and the User folders were becoming very unorganized. So I followed the instructions found at the HP website and used the program HP Recovery Manager. However, after the Recovery Partition formatted the Windows Partition, and had three minutes left to copy the files into the new partition, a message popped up declaring the recovery failed, and the computer had to be rebooted. So now I have a computer with no operating system on it at all, and the Recovery Partition continues to fail. I have used the Recovery Partition before, and this has never happened.
Has anyone encountered or know of a similar issue? Does anyone know a solution? Am I out of luck, or is there someway to ask HP for a copy of the installation media?
    Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Never mind. I found a forum post with my answer. Sorry to anyone who spent the time to read this post.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 - problem with HP recovery - error 1005

I'm trying to format the computer and reinstall windows.
The laptop does not have a hard disk partition for the recovery. I'm using the DVD's that where made when I got the computer.
I can open the HP recovery system and get about 36% in, before i get the message: "error 1005"
I have tried several options that i could find on google like: cleaning the disc's, setting the BIOS to default, checking the disc's are DVD+R.
Someone suggested that Wireless has to be turned on when using the recovery. Mine is turned off. I can't turn on the computer and switch it on, and the keyboard button (touch button) don't respond.
Any suggestion on how to turn Wireless on, or how to fix the recovery?

    Hi,
There may be a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.
If you have access to this, use the retail disc to perform the installation, enter the activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this is fully supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software normally bundled with OEM installations.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1030 recovery

I bought a recovery disc set 1 and 2 for a HP Pavilion dv6-1030us. After recovery, my windows vista keeps asking me to enter the product code and a message that says that my copy of windows is not genuine.

The recovery set checks the PC for various hardware that was supposed to be part of that model.  If it finds something different than the preassigned configuration, it will not finish.  If the PC is really a dv6-1030us, you could use the product key from the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

On Recovery Manager : I Deleted all of my parttions on my hard disk. then when I used recovery disks to restore it to its factory set , after extracting the image files on disks to the hard drive , system restarted and boot to the Recovery manager with " Restore Incomplete " error. Just help me,pleaseeeeeeee

    Hi:
You may have to purchase a set of HP recovery disks or if you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the bottom of your notebook (DON'T POST IT), you can do this...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

I do not have recovery disks for this computer.  I tried to order them but them seem to not be available.  This is my daughter's computer.  She says she started to have trouble after downloading Frost Wire (music share) and then she removed it.  We tried going back to an earlier time and that didn't help and then the blue screen with error message appeared. What do I do now?

    Hi,
Assuming your in the US, recovery discs are available to order for that model here.  That may be the best option.
You should also be able to do a recovery without the discs as well.  Take a look at this document: Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery, and look for the section Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible.  This should allow you to recover the PC.

  • Hp pavilion dv6 6180 help me for this error when I am using my recovery disk

hp pavilion dv6 6180 help me for this error when I am using my recovery disk
The destination drive is not connected

Hello Mohammadshamlou.  I understand that you're having some issues using your Recovery Disc.  It is giving you the error that the drive is not connected.  Is this correct?  How long have you had the notebook?
What issue originally led you to want to try a recovery?
The error seems to imply that it is not detecting the hard drive as this would be the most logical destination drive.  So, I feel the best thing to try first is verify that the hard drive is in proper working order.  Follow these steps and please post the result.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1334us won't start after windows update, stuck in Error Recovery

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 1334us with 32bit-windows 7. The computer did automatic updates and when it started up said there was another one avaliable through WIndows Updater. I installed the update and it said the computer needed to restart for the update to take effect. I choose to restart and the computer wouldn't boot back up, it boots to the 'Windows Error Recovery' screen where my options are 'Launch Startup Repair (recommended)' and 'Start Windows Normally'. When I select the repair, it says it loads windows files, then goes back to the error recovery screen. When I choose to start normally, it freezes the second it trys to start, flashes a blue screen and then returns to the Error Recovery page again.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from Recovery Manager.

I got my son's older HP Laptop, and decided to restore it before using it for myself.  Previously it was working OK.  An HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from the Recovery Manager.  I have tried running the recovery manager from both the HD partion and the DVD media I created.  The HD and Memory pass.  The wireless f12 key is off, and can not be turned back on from the keyboard.  Some previous post have suggested the wireless being off could be a problem.   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Hi
No that Recovery media won't work in your laptop.
ISO file can be used to clean install. You'll have to get all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop to be clearly & legibly readable for activation of ISO after install.

Download, save them to a USB and install them from there during/after Win 7 installation.
You have to first install chipset, restart system - then audio driver-restart, graphic driver- restart, ethernet controller(LAN), network controller(WLAN & Bluetooth), card reader, touchpad , Protect smart hard drive protection driver, quick launch software in order.
I could see that your model came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) pre installed.
    Here is the ISO file:

Download , save it to another PC, then make a bootable DVD/USB by mounting this ISO on to it by using software like Imgburn (choose lowest speed while burning to DVD).

Please mark the HP Recovery partition "Active" by selecting "Mark Partition as Active" using the Windows Disk Management Console. See HP - Partitioning and Naming Hard Drives (Windows 7) for information about using the Windows Disk Management Console.
If the above instructions didn't work and you didn't create your HP Recovery Media when you first setup your computer, please contact official HP support in your region / country, via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer.
Alternatively, if you can still read the 25-digit Windows product key on the Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, you can install Windows 7 Home Premium using this key. Please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" for instructions on how to download Windows 7, create the installation media, and install Windows 7 using the 25-digit product key from the Microsoft COA on your computer. This method will not install any HP customizations or value-added software and you will have to manually install all needed drivers from the HP Pavilion dv6-6c65sx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers page.
