HP pavilion dv6 restoration incomplete after recovery

I recently try to facotry reset my Hp pavilion dv6 using the recovery usb I make with the HP program when I brought this laptop, but it said "restoration incomplete".
I have ran the hard drive check and mem test at the BIOS and there isnt any problem. I also did a full format on the hard drive and it works. So I dont think there are any bad sector on hard drive.
I did factory reset, miniimze windows install...all the option I can had on the recovery problem but It doesnt work.
Once It finish the installation and laptop is restart, it automatically boot into the HP recovery program and said "restoration incomplete".
I am wondering how can I find my license product key so I can install a windows 7 or any other solution?
Thank you

Sorry no solution for you but I to have a DV6 that no longer allows the DVD drive, bluetooth, web cam, wi-di and probably a load of other things to work to work.  I've never been able to make back ups of my settings so like you want to start again. Please HP answer this question as I'd love to try Windows 7 also.  P.s. never had so much trouble with a laptop!!!!  Runs hot, can't system restore, can't use the simple things I'm used to on any other laptop!!

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer, inside the battery compartment, or on the BIOS setup screen. Please DO NOT include your serial number. Enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and post it here for our review.
If you installed a generic copy of Windows 7 on your computer prior to creating your personal HP Recovery Discs, you may no longer be able to do so. If the "HP Recovery" partiton still exists on the hard drive and hasn't been damaged, please use the Windows Disk Management Console to mark or set the HP Recovery partition as active and reboot your computer. Please see HP - Partitioning and Naming Hard Drives (Windows 7) for information about using the Windows Disk Management Console. Upon rebooting, the computer should start the HP Recovery process. After recovering the computer to a factory like state, you should be able to create your personal HP Recovery Discs.
If this doesn't work, please contact official HP support in your region / country via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer.

  • Hp pavilion g7- 1338dx notebook pc after recovery bootmgr is missing when i started it

i have a refurbished hp pavilion g7-1338dx notebook pc with #a6z27uar#aba with windows7 home premium 64 bit. i did a factory recovery from a disc that i bought on hp because i  whenever i rcover it from my harddrive i got error thats why i bought a recovery disc.anyway after recovery when i turn it on i got bsod memory management so i had to shut it down , i tried turning it on again but now its says bootmgr is missing  press ctrl+alt+delete to restart , i did same thing . i tried using repair disc, memory test passed, hardware test passed. everytime i turn it on its says boot mgr ,need help

    Hello @pac-man ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand after running a system recovery from the recovery media you are unable to boot the PC, and get a BOOTMGR missing error.
Take a look through this guide for BOOTMGR troubleshooting: How To Fix BOOTMGR is Missing Errors. The guide contains all of the steps to take and describes how to do each of them in a manner that any level user can understand.
If none of that works, you will need to obtain a copy of the Windows installation and run your installer. Once installed it will add a new BOOTMGR and allow you to re-run the recovery to restore your pre-installed software. The only other option would be to contact HP Phone Support for service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Sleep Mode Issue After Windows 10 Upgrade (Goes To Sleep After 2 Min Of Inactivity)

I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The upgrade went smooth and everything appears to be running fine except for one anoying glitch. After approx. 2 min of inactivity my laptop atuomatically goes into sleep mode and logs me out. I have checked all my power settings/sleep settings/screen saver settings...etc and I have completed all the windows updates. I don't see any timers anywhere that require adjustment. Any help would be appreciated. Note: The laptop wakes up fine with no issues.

Hello Konacha, Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!I have read your thread regarding the computer entering sleep mode, upon Administrative prompts or a restart. There isn't a lot that could be done, but by the end of it, the issue should be resolved  Hopefully, the simple fix is creating a new power plan. Your current power plan may be incorrectly configured. This Microsoft website can help with all the details of this task: Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme)  If that doesn't help, then personally, I would reinstall the operating system. This will fix it, as it will address any software conflict or virus that could be causing this. First, you should backup your data. I will provide information on how to do that: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7) Once this is done, it is safe to do the System Recovery. Here is some information on how to do this: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7) Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again for posting, and have a great day! Mario

  • Pavilion dv6-1230us Black Screen after installing Windows 7...Please Help

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 and everything was working fine until my computer went into hibernation.   Before this, I installed all the drivers and software from the HP website for my computer for Windows 32 bit setup.  After my computer went into hibernation, my computer will not start up in normal mode; rather, it starts in safe mode only.  When its starts in normal mode, the screen just turns black and nothing happens.  The login screen comes up perfectly fine but after I login at startup, the screen just turns black.  Please help, I don't know what else to do whether it is a driver or software issue from the software from the HP site.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

  • After partitioning hd of my hp pavilion dv6-6017tx my basic drives converted into dynamic

recently i ordered recovery discs from hp support for my hp pavilion dv6-6017tx notebook. After getting them i recovered my laptop to factory setting. there were four partitions namely  C, RECOVERY, HP TOOLS and SYSTEM.I wanted to partition hd so  I partitioned c drive after shrinking it in disk management. all my basic drives got converted into dynamic. [i wasnt aware of the terms basic and dynamic drives]. Now my query is whether it poses  risk to my laptop. is there any procedure of converting back to basic.

    Hi stat10,
I see you have some concerns regarding the Basic as opposed to the Dynamic drives. I am sending you this document for Basic and Dynamic Disks that explains what the difference is between Basic and Dynamic. To answer your concerns about this posing a risk to your computer, the answer is no, it will not hurt anything.
In short, Basic keeps your files altogether in one section of blocks to create a partition and Dynamic allows you to spread files over multiple blocks to create a partition.
The only suggestion I have, is before creating partitions you should always defrag your computer first so that your files would be compressed in one section of blocks and not spread out over multiple blocks.
I hope this information is useful, please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Take care and have a great day!

    Hi @Premlez
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I am happy to help you with your data. Assuming that your hard drive is both functional and readable, then there are a few ways that you can get you information copied.
Here is a page from wikiHow that shows several ways you can do that. Do not let the title worry you, it is just as applicable to your current situation. You want to do a recovery to repair your notebook before the repair which is the smart thing to do. If the computer will not start properly, then for now this is how you would try to backup the data.

Since you will need to take the drive out of the notebook for these methods , here is the service and maintenance manual to show you how.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from Recovery Manager.

I got my son's older HP Laptop, and decided to restore it before using it for myself.  Previously it was working OK.  An HP Pavilion dv6-6b47dx gets "Restoration Incomplete" from the Recovery Manager.  I have tried running the recovery manager from both the HD partion and the DVD media I created.  The HD and Memory pass.  The wireless f12 key is off, and can not be turned back on from the keyboard.  Some previous post have suggested the wireless being off could be a problem.   Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

    Hi
No that Recovery media won't work in your laptop.
ISO file can be used to clean install. You'll have to get all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop to be clearly & legibly readable for activation of ISO after install.
    Tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
For additional drivers you can get them here:

    http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064
Download, save them to a USB and install them from there during/after Win 7 installation.
You have to first install chipset, restart system - then audio driver-restart, graphic driver- restart, ethernet controller(LAN), network controller(WLAN & Bluetooth), card reader, touchpad , Protect smart hard drive protection driver, quick launch software in order.
I could see that your model came with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) pre installed.
    Here is the ISO file:

  • Pavilion dv6 wont start after factory recovery.

    Hello,
I made factory reset using HP recovery manager ( try both: clean copy or factory default copy with software), and the process finish ok. But after restart windows cant start and stuck on windows logo, if I try safe mode, it stops at message: "You cannot finish the instalation in safe mode restart the PC and finish the installation" . It seems that the "first time use" installation process is corrupted. The HDD and memory tests  finish without error. Also tried the Hard reset (Unplug the AC remove the battery and hold power on for 30 sec.) but did not help.
    Thanks for help.

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 1334us with 32bit-windows 7. The computer did automatic updates and when it started up said there was another one avaliable through WIndows Updater. I installed the update and it said the computer needed to restart for the update to take effect. I choose to restart and the computer wouldn't boot back up, it boots to the 'Windows Error Recovery' screen where my options are 'Launch Startup Repair (recommended)' and 'Start Windows Normally'. When I select the repair, it says it loads windows files, then goes back to the error recovery screen. 1. HP Pavilion DV6 3052nr
    2.Windows Seven HomePre OA x64
    3. On Recovery Manager : I Deleted all of my parttions on my hard disk. then when I used recovery disks to restore it to its factory set , after extracting the image files on disks to the hard drive , system restarted and boot to the Recovery manager with " Restore Incomplete " error. Just help me,pleaseeeeeeee

    Hi:
You may have to purchase a set of HP recovery disks or if you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the bottom of your notebook (DON'T POST IT), you can do this...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.
