HP Pavilion dv6000 I need a recovery disc. Help

Greetings,
I purchased a HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook about 7 or 8 years ago, and it recently crashed on me. Every time I turn it on it doesn't reach my sign window where I input my password, it only keeps on restarting itself. I seem to have lost my recovery and drivers disc and now, I need help acquiring another recovery disc.
The model of my notebook is:
HP Pavilion d6000
AMD Turion 64
Windows XP
s/n: {Removed for privacy}
p/n: RG253UA#ABA
I need a recovery disc with the OS and drivers for my notebook. I am aware I will probably have to pay for one. Any help out there? Thanks in advance forum!

Hi:
You have a HP Pavilion dv6105us Notebook PC.
You can try calling HP at one of these 2 numbers to see if you can get a set of recovery disks from them.
800-474-6836 or 888-999-4747.
If you can't get them from HP anymore, you can get them from this 3rd party vendor for $27 + shipping.

If not, you can install W7 following the guidance below if you can read the 25 character W7 product key on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn as ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • HP Pavilion - Do I need external Recovery option?

    Hi,
I have just bought a HP Pavilion 15.  Keep getting contractdictory advice.  Some say must have an external Recovery option; others say why, there is no need and it is a lot of hassle to create a set.  Need advice:
    1)  is it really necessary to have an external option when I have the recovery partition (D) on the hard drive?
    2)  If I need an external option (however hard that may be to create), am thinking about buying Panasonic DVD-RAM Disc Rewritable 9.4GB.  Is this appropriate media?  And, how do I work out how many discs I need to buy?
    3) absolute worse case secenario - if I needed to recover & didn't have an external recovery media, what would be my other options?
Unfortunately, know enough knowlegde/experince to worry but not enough to know what to do.  Can anyone help?

To the best of my knowledge, HP allows driver downloads regardless of warranty status..  About the only time you will ever have an issue is if you are trying to put an OS on a machine it's not designed for..  IE Win7 on a Win8 machine, etc etc..
Even then, there are always alternatives...
My philosophy has always been to NEVER put anything on a computer that you can't live without..
If Drivers are your concern, don't worry.  With VERY few exceptions, drivers are ALWAYS available..
The hassle of going out into the wild of the Interent to find them is really the only downside...

  • Need contact recovery/update help

I am trying to help my neighbor update her IPhone 3G from 4.0 to current ios6.0. She never did any of the updates.Verizon rep says to go home, hook up to ITunes and backup the data on the phone. We did this and also updated to the newest version of iTunes before backing up. All apps showed that they backed up but we could not tell if the contacts did. Rep says he has never seen anyone backup and lose their contacts. We were then to reset the phone and restore the files after this. We did this and all the apps restored but no contacts. The phone shows nubmbers in the favorites and all called and missed calls but no contact names or numbers. Is there a way to recover the contacts somewhere in ITunes? The phone will also go through the update system but will not update. if this phone now too old to accept an update because of never doing any updates? If so I would have assumed the sales rep would have known this, Any help would be appreciated.

Contacts should be in the Application used for such on the computer that is usually used for Syncing.

  • Need Win 7 recovery discs for new hard drive

I am not sure which Windows 7 Operating system my laptop had, but I need the recovery discs to put Windows 7 back on my HP dv6-6167cl notebook.
My original issue was that my notebook was unable to restore or anything on its own.  After calling HP support and performing a guided diagnostics test, it was determined that my hard drive was bad.  I purchased a new hard drive and replaced it, but need to get Windows 7 back on it.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Your notebook originally shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit - you can order a replacement set of Recovery Media from the link on your Product Page below.

  • Recovery Disc need for

Laptop has a Black screen 2 flashes at the caps key, tried all the suggestions on the forum nothing is working.
Sadly I dont have a recovery disc.
help needed please, where can I get one are they readily in stock?
    Thank you

    Hi there:
You can try Recovery using the built in Recovery partition present in HDD unless you've formatted or upgraded your laptop:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418
The only other option left is to CLEAN INSTALL Windows 7 if your laptop came with Windows 7 pre installed & you can CLEARLY & LEGIBLY read all the 25 characters of product activation key printed in COA sticker on the back of the laptop:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html
    http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/
    From your specs: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-G56-100-Notebook-PC-series/4247525/model/4315390/document/c02...
I could understand that it came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, so you can download the ISO from tutorial link given above and make bootable USB - which can be booted from and clean install done.
Additional drivers can be downloaded, copied to another usb and later on installed to system after clean install.

  • Need original software disc

So I have the 30GB ipod, white, 5th generation. It came with a disc to download the software to my desktop. I now would like to use my ipod on a different laptop but no longer have that original disc. I have downloaded the newest version of itunes but when I plug in my ipod, itunes doesn't detect it. I've gone to the device manager on windows and it shows the ipod there with an exclamation point. I follow the prompts to correct problem and it tells me that the necessary software isn't found and to enter the original disc. As I said before I no longer have the disc (lost it or got thrown away). Is there any way to get a new disc or can I download this software from somewhere? I can't update any software thru itunes because it isn't even recognizing my ipod in the first place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    >I need a recovery disc or the original software disc for XP but none of this was supplied with it.
I'm in doubt about it. According notebook specification Satellite M50-161 is delivered with follow medias:
    - Recovery Medias (CD-ROM or DVD)
    - Express Media Player
    - Additional Software CD
    - Microsoft Works Suite
All old notebook models are delivered with recovery CDs. I have old Satellite m70 and still have original Toshiba recovery installations DVD.
Anyway, you can try to contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help. To be honest I don't believe you will get it for this old notebook model. For OS installation you can also use Microsoft installations CD. All drivers, tools and utilities you can download from Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

  • Recovery Disc A665-SP6013M

Today I bought the A665-SP6013M, but they only had one "pre optimized..." the thing is that when the SO was loaded it didn't gave me the option for the recovery disc creation, I tried Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator and It doesn't work for this model, someone know how can I do it?
    Thanks.

Ok, the laptop is 100% new, but it was optimized by BestBuy personal and I don't know how to create the recovery disc for that reason I searched for solutions on google and I foud that several models uses the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator so I downloaded it (This model don't have anithing similar installed by default) but after the installation when I run it only apears the next msgbox "No HDD Recovery Area, The Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator can not be launched" then to check if the recovery area really exist in this model I selected the option windows explorer to show system files, but nothing similar was visible, then I posted this message, the thing is that I want to create a partition so I'll need the Recovery Disc or If you know a place to download the ISO of the Win 7 Home Premium (Compatible with the serial number for latinoamerica) it will be very useful..
    Thanks

  • Recovery disc(s) for Satellite A135-2266 - help? for laptop donation to kenya orphanage

    Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me here, or maybe tell me how to do this myself? I have a Satellite A135-2266 that needs to have the HD replaced. This computer, if I can get the recovery discs, will be donated to an orphanage in Kenya that our church supports.  I will replace the HD myself, but I need the recovery discs (this was my son's laptop - he's in the navy and it died on him after only 6 mos, but he was not able to get it to land in time for warranty - and now he cannot locate the recovery disc.  This is my plea for help. If anyone has recovery discs for this model, is there any chance they could copy them for me - I'd pay for the discs and shipping, so that I can fix it and get it to the orphanage?  HELP? if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.  I will be calling Toshiba to see if they can help me out, but I have faith in the users here to maybe be my salvation.
    Many thanks!

"DVD recovery media can be ordered from Toshiba Customer Service at 1-800-457-7777.  There is no charge for the software itself, and as of 11/30/09 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95." Quote from Jim.

  • I cant find my recovery disc, is there any way of downloading the information, I cant find my recovery disc, is there any way of downloading the information

Please help. I used Speed4mac to clean up my macbook pro. I dont know what i have done but my Mac is now running slow.
I have used Disk Utility first aid and it says i need my recovery disc. However, I can not find this!!
Is there any way round this?? ie a download??
    Look forward to some advice!!

Which operating system version were you running?  Lion (10.7) had no discs.
OSX: About Lion Recovery - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 > Lion Internet Recovery - using the Internet to start when recovery disk partition not available.
Snow Leopard an earlier came with discs. Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775 (telephone numbers for other countries - http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57). Provide the serial number and specifications of the Mac.  They may be able to provide a replacement set of discs for a fee.  These discs will be for whatever OS was installed on the computer originally, so if you have an upgraded version you will need to obtain the discs some other way.
It's kind of late to say so now but never use a "cleaning" or maintenance utility.
