HP Pavilion DV6535ep power jack / USB module compatible part numbers

Hello,
My HP dv6535ep has recently started to turn off randomly. At the beginning I thought it was due to CPU/GPU temperature but then discovered that it was in fact the power jack that was getting very hot and that it melted partially. I fully disassembled the laptop and inspected the power jack / USB module and found no defects other than a carbonized soldering point corresponding to the +19V input line. I tested the power supply cable and the PCB board for short circuits, which there was any. I also tested the power supply which is working. Since the power supply cable tip significantly melted, I replaced it with a new cable and assembled the laptop again. However the problem persists, with the new power supply tip, the tip and connector gets instantaneously very hot once the laptop is turned on. The laptop does not even pass the BIOS POST, it shut downs right there. For the sake of completeness I must add that the power jack blue light is lit once I connect the power tip.
So in summary:
* After turning on the laptop, the DC power supply tip and jack connector get very very hot in a question of seconds (to the point of melting the tip if not disconnected immediately).
* The DC power jack light is lit after plugging the power in.
* The laptop often does not turn on at all and when it does, it shutdowns during BIOS POST.
* The power supply is working (I tested it) and the power supply cable and tip are working too (I replaced them with new parts).
So that led me to believe the power jack / USB board is defective and needs replacement and that is the reason I'm writing here in the first place. Would you be kind and provide the power jack / USB board part numbers which are compatible with my laptop? The part number of current (defective) power jack / USB board is
DDAT8APB3002907
I'm having trouble finding exact matches on surplus stores, where the best I got are DDAT8APB300XXXX, where the last four digits don't match. Are they compatible?
Hoping to hear from you,
Thank you,
- Angelo

  • Power jack damaged, drained battery for PAVILION DV7-1135NR

I've had countless problems with my HP PAVILION DV7 1135NR, but I've managed to fix most problems, but of course another one appeared.
I usually have to "jimmy" my power adapter around to get a charge, but in this case, I was too rough and completely ruined the power jack (where you plug power adapter into) , my battery never charges and stays at 0% therefore there's no way to power on the laptop without a power source. Will this be an easy fix that a "girl" can do by herself? What parts do I need to get my laptop powered on?

You need the power connector cable which is part of the "cable kit":
    480474-001
    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
Page 34 has a picture of it. Page 85 shows how to get the top cover off. The power connector cable can then be removed and replaced. It plugs into the motherboard. It is not a real easy fix but not as hard as a motherboard replacement. The part is dirt cheap.

  • Gnome power management -- easy way to unload usb modules?

I (thanks to the Thinkwiki and some experimentation) have discovered that suspend only works correctly if I first do modprobe -r uhci-hcd ehci-hcd to unload the USB modules. Then I can do suspend through the command line or through Gnome (via Fn-F4, etc.), but I have to reload the modules upon resume. Seeing as this *seems* to be a fairly common issue, is there any quirk I can implement to get Gnome to do this for me? I googled around but couldn't find anything. If I don't unload the USB modules first the computer wakes up from sleep immediately.

What is it possible to use for suspend? I genuinely have no idea, it just works. From the commandline, echo mem > /sys/power/state seems to work, and in Gnome, Fn-F4 works well. I DO have pm-utils installed, so that may indeed be what it is using, so I can give it a shot, but I never configured anything in particular.
I have hibernate-script installed and pm-utils installed, if that helps. Might be others installed if I better knew what to look for.
Edit: Adding that /etc/pm/config.d/config seemed to do the trick, thanks! Now I just have to work out all the kinks, like how *sometimes* the screen doesn't come back and I just have a white screen instead (but sometimes it DOES *shakes head*) and that when it reactivates the USB it finds my webcam and loads it and thus automatically loads the program Cheese every time I resume suspend. Little things like that. If anyone has any suggestions, I'll take them. I'm googling it right now. But at least suspend works right now. Thanks a bunch!

Could anyone please confirm for me if these spare parts below can be compatible with my HP pavilion notebook?

Thus, I had to look for 'TheHP-Compaq 665329-001 SATA Blu-ray BD-R/RE Drive, ' in ebay.com. But, zero results resulted in researching, although there are some other ones. I think that my search withTheHP-Compaq 665329-001 SATA Blu-ray BD-R/RE Drive is correct as long as that part number was sugggested by that HP agent.

  • Pavilion g6 headphone jack broken?

I have recently had the headphone port of my Pavilion g6 mess up and play only one side sometimes and one day I got really frustrated and broke the 3.5mm plug off in it but managed to get it out. It now only ditributes right side music or right channel. Is it broken or what? If so, where can I buy a replacement jack and get it installed or do I have to send it to HP to have them relplace it? Does this require the purchase of a new motherboard, or maybe even a new computer? Thanks ahead of time and any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hi WyredPg6, welcome to the HP Forums. It appears as though the headphone jack is actually part of the system board. To replace the jack, is to replace the entire system board.
I referred to page 18 on this : HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide
It shows the replaceable parts, and #10 is the system board, you will notice the connectors are not denoted with replacement parts.
It might be more inexpensive for you to purchase a USB Sound Card. You could disable the onboard sound, and use external headphones/speakers.
If that isn't an option for you, you can find compatible system board part numbers starting on Page 71. These can be used on: HP Part Surfer
    I hope this helps.

  • Use a mini jack-USB Converter to plug iRig Mic into the apple Camera Connection

My new recording studio is GarageBand on our NEW iPad -of course!   Ill be using the iRig Microphone but i wonder if it would be better to go thru the iPad's camera port as i would, the Apogee 'JAM'.  There are mini jack USB adaptors I could use for the iRig Mic ,as i have mentioned . Does it matter ? Would that be an un-needed expense?

Probably not. A 2011 software update significantly reduced the amount of power allocated to the USB, rendering many devices that used to plug in non-functional now. If there's no app then there's not likely to be a driver to allow the keyboard to work.
If your keyboard manufacturer has any sort of support board then you may want to look there and see if they have more info.

  • DC jacks; are they compatible with all 3000 series

I would like to know if all the DC power jacks are the same or compatible for all the lenovo 3000 series notebooks?
I have a lenovo 3000 C100 notebook, and the problem that I am experiencing is that the unit dose not power up when
the power button is press. here's the rundown of the problem; when I plug the power cord onto the laptop the indicator
ligth for the power is on, but when I press the power button to on, the power indicator turns off and the laptop does not
turn on at all, the only time the power indicator turns on is when I disconnect the power cord from the laptop and plug it
back on. I also try it with the battery without the AC cord, the indictor lights for both power and battery is on, but when the
the power button is pressed both indicator lights will flash (one at a time ) for at least 2 seconds and does not come back
on at all and the laptop still does not power up at all. I have also tested the unit with another different battery and AC power
cord from a same working 3000 C100, still the same issues. so I figure that it has to be the power DC jack, check lenovo
website, but found none for the C100. so I want to know if other DC jack from let's say the T4 or T60, Thinkpad can be use
as replacement part for my unit. my laptop is only a year and a half old. I would be very gratefull for any kind of help.
    Thanks

there are not many motherboard for Lenovo 3000 laptops on sale on the web, the only place where you can get it, is through Lenovo parts service... i would suggest you sell your laptop for parts and then get a new laptop, it would be probably be more economical that way then getting a new motherboard through Lenovo.

When I have to recharge my HPMini311, I have a terrible time keeping the power jack charging, and the small light will more often than not disappear until I find another position, usually standing my open tablet up on its side. Any solution other than having the power jack changed?

    Oldlyme.
    Does not look good.
You would have to remove keyboard, WIFI, palmrest then the motherboard.
The jack connector is on the underside of the motherboard.
Not easy but it can be done.

  • Power Jack replacement

    Here's the problem I have...
The tip of the 1/8" mini power connector broke off inside my powerbook G4 power jack.
The laptop doesn't charge anymore because of this so not only do I need to replace my power adapter/converter but I need to somehow get the broken off tip out of my computer jack or replace it all together.
Question is, does anyone know if it's easy to replace that jack inside the laptop and where I can get one compatible with my machine?
    Thanks!

Is the piece of the connector still inside the jack?  Sometimes very delicate surgery can extract the broken piece with a needle nose pliers, but you need to use one hand, and make sure there are no magnetic qualities to the pliers.  Magnetism and electrical parts don't work well together!  Short of that, the actual replacement of the jack is complicated, but http://www.ifixit.com/ or http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ may have the necessary instructions and part info.

You need to pull the mainboard from the machine so that you can hold the mainboard in your hand all by itself. That is going to require following all the steps in sequence.

  • Pavilion DV5 Power Cord

    Hi,
I want to replace and resolder just the male metal and plastic plug that goes into the computer. If they're not sold alone, 2nd choice is the plug attached to a cord with stripped wires at the end. Can anyone tell me where to go and what inside and outside diameter and length to order? • Is this power adapter (12W) really compatible with iPod shuffle?

    Hello,
I'm just wondering if the 12W power adapter is really compatible with the iPod shuffle 4th generation.
It says it is compatible, but it doesn't make sense to me. Because iPod shuffle is so tiny, I fear that it would burn out if I plug it into a 12W. I understand that the 5W version is compatible but 12W seems interesting.
What do you think? Do you use 12W for the iPod shuffle, too?

It works fine and will not damage the Shuffle. The Shuffle will draw only the power it requires.

G5 dual 2ghz.  Been unplugged for a while. Powers up but no video or power to usb keyboard.  Boots up fine in safe mode, restart into normal mode ok. After shutdown, back to same issue.  What's happening?

I keep seeing people ask and the advice to replace if it has been unplugged, but really have nothing to confirm that from my experiences.
My experience is that a weak or dead battery can cause much more than date and time issues.
I have seen it time and time again.
Deal with used machines and you will quickly learn....
I'll give no "recipe" or set list of symptoms, but the range of irregularities that can occur make it a quick and easy first line of troubleshooting, especially when the machine has been off the mains for a few months.
Why fight mysterious maladies and troubleshoot with the knowledge that the PRAM battery is beyond it's useful life.
    Maybe they recharge?
Not likely. They are chemically nasty, disposable, one way discharge batteries.
    They aren't Lithium-ion batteries

  • Hp mini 1035nr dc power jack issue

HP Mini 1035NR DC power jack is no longer making a connection to the power tip. Voltage is consistent on the tip itself. Did not help that my wife has been using this for some time by wiggling the power plug into the DC jack on the side of the netbook and it would "eventually" make a connection. It had been steadily deteriorating over the recent months, and now I can't get a connection at all, the battery has been replaced months ago and it will hold a charge for 2-3 hours easily. But now I'm certain it's the DC power jack within the base of the unit. The power light immediately next to the DC jack no longer lights, that is what we would use as an indicator to know we "jiggled" the tip enough to make a connection.
So my question is has anyone here popped open the unit to replace the power jack? If I pop it open will I have the ability to maybe access the connectors inside the jack to attempt bending them back into place? Must the whole jack be replaced? Is it soldered in place or possibly just a wire connector that I can easily plug/unplug? I did try looking into the jack from the outside with a strong lens and could see the metal tab for the negative voltage (external part of the power tip) connection within the DC jack but could not seem to bend it upwards when I delicately tried with a thin tweezer tip.
Don't want to risk popping this open if when I get inside it's not easily replaced. I'm OK plugging/unplugging, but taking a soldering iron to the board is pushing the envelope. Or has anyone found a slightly fatter power tip that works in this unit from some other power brick that might get a better connection?

It will need to be soldered if you do decide to replace it yourself. My suggestion would be to take it to a computer repair shop or contact HP support to see how much their out-of-warranty repair would be. The number if you are inside the US is 1-800-474-6836.
