HP Pavilion dv6t- power cord in and charging but computer doesn't recognize it
Hello all,
Sometimes when I plug my laptop in, my laptop says it's still on battery power, the light on the outside of the ac outlet won't turn on and my battery bar tells me the battery is discharging, even though it is definitely charging, the charging light on the front of the laptop is on and the battery will go to 100%. I don't know how to tell if this is a software issue, an issue with the cord, or an issue with the computer's outlet. Usually when this happens, I unplug it and plug it back in multiple times until the little light comes on and the computer recognizes the ac. Any suggestions? I want to resolve this before my computer gets some kind of electrical shock.

called HP support and they won't even talk to me unless I pay them for support. This is bogus. Obviously, this is either a known issue or a normal indication that either the battery or the ac adaptor is malfuctioning.
So, as I understand it, these are my choices:
1. Give in to HP extortion and pay them just to talk, in hopes they actually have a relevant solution.
2. Pay $100 for a new battery and see if that is the problem.
3. Pay $75 for a new ac adaptor to see if that is the problem.
4. Live with the issue and pray that my laptop doesn't just stop working at the worst time possible (on a stage in front of hundreds of people).
Thanks HP, the only thing I know for sure is that I will not be buying another one of your products.

Put the hold switch to the OFF/White position. Now toggle it ON/orange then back off again. Then press and hold both the MENU and center buttons on the iPod and hold them for a good 15 seconds or so. Your iPod should reboot starting with the Apple Logo screen.
If it doesn't work the first time, give it a second or third go. Sometimes it takes a few/several tries.

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

I tried updating to iOS 5 and now my computer doesn't recognize my iPhone 4.
When I plug the phone in, my computer doesn't even see that there is something in the USB port. I know the port/cord are ok because I just synced last night (still using the old OS). Now my iPhone screen recognizes that it's plugged in but it shows the USB cord and an arrow telling me to plug into iTunes. IT IS!!! Please help. I have read through so many articles and nothing has worked so far.

Just installed iTunes 10.6.3 and now the computer doesn't recognize the CD-ROM drivers
I've had iTunes previously on Windows 7, but because I had it on my computer, the computer would not recognize my CD-ROM drivers, so I uninstalled it. I just downloaded iTunes again, and the same problem is happening again. Is there any way I can keep iTunes and get my drivers working?

Flash plugin is installed and enabled, but Firefox doesn't recognize content.

When I go to Adobe's test page, it recognizes the install and lists the correct version number, but the test animation at the top of the page fails to load properly. My power cord isn't charging my powerbook g4
Okay, so my problems started a couple of weeks ago. I have a Powerbook g4, 15 inch. It's not brand new, I bought it off of ebay, but it worked fine for the first week that I had it, no problems. Then one day when I was using it I heard a "pop", and I smelled smoke. I picked up my power adapter, and realized that the smell was coming from it, where the cord that connects to the computer enters the adapter. I unplugged the cord from the wall, and then moved the adapter. When I did this, I heard another "pop" and the smell of smoke got stronger. I unplugged the cord from the laptop, and it continued to work fine, but I didn't have any way to charge it.
I got another power cord, this one not Apple brand, and started using it. It seemed to charge the laptop when it was off, and supply power to it when it was on, although it didn't CHARGE when the computer was on, it just kept it from dying. After I had been using it for a while, though, the light behind the screen started to flash, and then it went out altogether. The screen didn't go completely dark, though, and I could still see what was on it if I strained my eyes. I managed to shut the computer down from the apple menu, and I left it alone for a little while. When I came back it started right up, but I had the same issue after I used the computer for a while. I showed my dad what was happening, and he pulled the power cord out of the computer when the screen started to flash. This stopped the flashing, but because this cord didn't charge the computer while the computer was on, the battery died within a few minutes of removing the power cord.
Since then he's managed to charge the battery from MY powerbook in HIS powerbook (we have the same computer), but we haven't been able to get the battery to charge in my computer. Also, when he plugs his charger (Apple brand) into my computer the indicator light turns green, then orange, then red, and then goes off completely, all within the space of one or two minutes. When we completely remove the battery from my computer the indicator light stays green, but when I try to turn the computer on it doesn't work. The only thing that happens is the fan starts running, but there's no start up chime, and nothing on the screen.
I don't know if I need to get a new battery, a new charger, or if something happened inside the computer when the old charger exploded, but I would really appreciate any insight! There's an Apple store nearby that I can take it to, but I'd like to be able to know what's important to tell them, and what's not, at the very least. Thanks!

After reading and resetting everything with Keyboard I still get blank white screen on 2nd? page of boot. The only way I can boot to Mavericks is unplug power cord, push and hold power button while plugging power cord in. Fans run at full speed, machine boots then runs normal except the dvdrw will not . The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:

Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro. It is plugged in and charging but will not switch on. I try pushing ctrl, shift, alt and power together then release and press power again. The laptop goes to a white screen but switches off straight away. Any ideas?
P.s. it is now going to apple logo on white screen then switches off

My iphone turned off and i can't turn it on. I tried to turn it on with plugging into charger but it doesn't help. the problem is that the power button doesn't work.
Well, that is going to make it difficult, since the first two steps of user troubleshooting require the use of the power button. I suggest you get that fixed.

IPOD charges when connected with USB cord, the computer doesn't recognize
I have an IPOD 4GB nano, when I connect the USB to the IPOD, it charges but the computer doesn't recognize it, itunes wont automatically start nor does it even show up on itunes. It's clear that the battery has got enough capacity to work correctly, so something happens with the MagSafe port or its charger. If you have another charger, try it, and if not, take the MacBook and the charger to an Apple Store or reseller. It's better to do this as we don't know if the problem is in the charger or in the MacBook Pro -
