HP Pavilion DV7-3160US Fan issues

I woke up and turned on my HP Pavilion DV7-3160US which is less than 3 months old and it sounds as if the fan is loose and makes an awkward and annoying sound that stops after a few minutes but anytime I move the laptop the sound returns while in movement.
Any ideas or suggestions? Also how long does HP normally take to fix computers? I'd hate to be without my computer for a while.

HP Pavilion dv7-6025eo FAN ISSUE

How do I access the fan to a hp pavilion dv7-6025eo?? it makes sooo annoying noises, like some creep is attached to one of the blades and makes the fan instable... There are alot of guides on a dv-7 series notebook but none of them show on this model which has a different top cover... I just want to be able to see if there is something on the blades on the fan so I can remove it... did they really have to make it so difficult to access.........! thanks for advice

There ain't much left except the button board. If I recall, on that model the power button board is connected to the motherboard with a ribbon cable so there is no failsafe button on the motherboard. If the button board switch is bad there is no way to start it up.

DV7 3160us BIOS issue...HELP

I just bought a DV7 3160us laptop that I have had for 3 days now. I took it to my boyfriends house with me this weekend. I had it on for a few hours, then I shut it down and set it on the carpeted floor leaving the AC plugged in. I had done this the other nights that I had it, and everyone I know leaves the ac plugged into it all night so I didn't think it would be an issue. Well now when I turn it on the screen is black, and num & caps lock lights are blinking and I can hear fan noise. I don't get any error messages or anything, it just acts like it is in sleep mode but won't wake up. Picking it up the left side of it where the fan is very hot. I did google my situation and I found this page which scares me quite I bit, my laptop doesn't blink a certain number of times it just does so continuously so I don't know whats going on. I'm letting it cool down now, but I'm scared to death I fried something in it...I start college soon and my parents saved up money forever to be able to get me this and there is now way they or I could afford to buy another laptop even a cheap one at this point. Its only 3 days old
Edit: I turned it on again just to check and the blinking is twice for the num lock and caps lock then it stops for a few seconds and does another cycle of two. So acording to that chart it would be a BIOS corruption failure. How do I fix that? Btw: I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. Would this problem have been caused by what I mentioned before?

I assume you did all the testing HP support documents told you to do step by step?
It could be numourous things causing your laptop to do this.
If your boyfriend is quite savey at creating a bootable bios disk preferably using a floppy instead of a cd/r or cd/rw disk installing the bios then you can go to the HP support drivers site & install the older version bios file if you have alseady installed the current bios then have him perform that & incert the floopy from a external floppy drive & perform it in that manner.
This is as long as your usb ports are powering up when the exteranal floppy drive is plugged in.
You can also do it with a cd but use a cd/r cd/rw disk.
I use a cd/rw disk so I can delete the files after I perform my tasks & can use it over & over again.
Word of caution though!!! Never lay a laptop on carpet, big no!no!
Computers do not like static elect. buildup.
Can fry componants.
Hope you get it up & going before going back to college.

HP Pavilion dv7-6b32us Fan Buzzes when running fast

I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6b32us and within the past few months my laptop heats up pretty easy and whenever the fan starts running really fast it will buzz and it vibrates enough that I can feel it a bit in the top left area of the laptop, the only way it stops is if I tap that area pretty hard. I'm assuming this means the bearings or something on the fan are shot, and it needs to be replaced. I've tried to clean the fan area the best I can (though there's never a lot of dust inside) but if I remember from the last time I took it apart, I can't get to it very easily without removing the motherboard, so i have to clean the fan with the cover on. Is there a way to fix this or if not, where can I get a replacement fan?

I am receiving the following error when trying to add mp3 music to a visual tour program. Was told it is a computer issue with my audio driver

Used to work the suddenly quit working.... can anyone advise??

Pavilion Dv6-6146tx fan issues

Hi guys
Im having fan issues, where when i play games such as Saints Row 3 or Dirt 3, the fan will randomly cut out when the gpu temperature reaches about 75°C.
It is quiet hot where i live and room temperature is around 35°C
Is the fan cutting out due to the high ambient temperature, or is my fan just failing?
Any help would be great!

Intel core i7-2630qm @ 2.0ghz
AMD Radeon 6770m, 2GB GDDR5
8gb 1333mhz ram (2 x 4gb)
640gb HDD
Windows 7

Does the laptop shut down or the fan just cut off? We get a lot of posts here about hot dv6-6000 series. How old is the laptop? Opening it up and replacing the thermal compound might help. You can also go into power management and reduce the maximum cpu down a couple percent. For some reason that does not affect performance but lets it run a couple degrees cooler. As long as the fan spins at all the fan is not at fault.

Is there a motherboard problem in HP pavilion dv7-3160us?

i have a problem where when i play a game it freezes then i have to force shutdown by holding the powerbutton. Then when i try to start it up again it turns right back off, i have to do this about 5times. I check on websites and such to figure out the problem and i found something about a motherboard problem with some of Hp notebooks. What is a motherboard and is this problem possible to solve?

Unfortunatley yes... I have the very same exact issue with my friends dv7 and after some research online it is a bad system board. Actually a bad intergrated power supply that is in the board.. My friends machine is only 15 months old and now its a 1300 paper weight unless he send it in and spends a addidtional 300 for the board. I basically laughed at the on duty supervisor and stated how much of a poor product this is.. This should be a manufactures defect and HP refuses to acknowledge that it is.. I am in the IT industry and see this sort of thing all the time. The supervisor had the nerve to say to me "You do understand the concept of a warrenty?" From that point after I reliazed that I was going to go nowhere with these clowns I stated to him that I will never ever buy a HP product nor refer one to anyone else...

Pavilion dv7-2270us Performance issues?

I recently bought a dv7-2270us laptop for christmas. When I first got it, it was running very quickly. Now, it's running slower. Is this inevitable when adding more software to your computer? Or is there something wrong with my computer? What could be causing it to run slower?
The main issues I have are when it's first starting up. It takes longer than it did at first. Again, is this just going to happen no matter what as long as I download more things on to my computer?
I still have over half of my C: Drive free- Not sure if that's significant or not.

Please note that some softwares use background processes to work, what it means is when you install certain softwares no matter if you are using them or not they might run few services in background when your system starts and the more you install the more services need to run at startup and hence more time in loading.
In some cases even after uninstalling the software some services still may run for no reason, after all humans make these software and they make mistakes and leave bugs.
What you need to do is choose softwares carefully and only from trusted companies/sources/websites.
One more thing...i do something that i dont think mostof uses follow but its working fine for me.....
If you want to try a lot of softwares which you might not use and uninstall then i suggest you make a restore point in your system. If you dont like the software and feel to unstall it..then unstall it and restore your system to the previous restore point you created..In this way you will get rid oif anything that software might have left for your system to slow down.

Hp pavilion dv7 hard drive issues

I have an HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook PC(product number: XG834UA#ABA) that is currently displaying an "imminent failure" warning in the form of a SMART hard disk error (Hard Disk 301).
I ran a Primary Hard Disk Self Test where it passed both Quick and Full test but failed the SMART check (again at Hard Disk 1 SMART 301).
It isn't making any particularly strange noises (clicking etc.) and I guess it is also important to say that I am no longer under warranty.
I have already backed up (and removed) my documents onto an external drive for safe measure.
I am completely new to this type of thing so some words of advice as to what to do would be greatly appreciated. I live only 30 minutes away from the Atlanta HP Support Center but I'm not sure they will repair a laptop not under warranty, even if I have to pay a fee.
Where would I begin fixing it? As a college student with online portions of class, I'm afraid of how this will affect my schooling and registration.
The hard drive is a SAMSUNG HM641JI.

I would replace the hard drive. That is a 640 gig 5400 rpm drive and you can get a bigger faster drive for a reasonable price.

If the computer is still working well enough to boot into Windows you can do a complete system backup and recover all your data, settings, programs, etc onto the new drive or we can help you do a disk clone of the old drive to the new.
Since your laptop will actually hold two hard drives simultaneously you could even put the old drive in the secondary bay so you have a copy of all your old stuff right at hand.

HP Pavilion dv7-4190us grounding issue

Hi,
My laptop regularly grounds me. I reckon it is because of its metal chassis. Whenever I accidentally bump the chassis, 50% of the time, I feel a light current. This is also noticeable on the laptop cover/monitor area. Any ideas regarding this? Thank you.

DV7-7025dx bought in 2012. Today, on boot, horizontal lines right from the moment I turn it on. Lines are so bad I can barely see anything. Booted into windows - lines still there. After a few minutes they cleared up. Powered down, removed battery, reset bios, rebooted. Still there. Is the display/adapter going bad?

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook and issues with the screen flickers and going pink and green. Here is a link to a document that will help you troubleshoot the image on screen flickers, has lines or distorted colors. Have you connected a monitor to the Notebook to check if it happens there as well? Here is a link on how to clean the fans as this could be an issue. If this does not display on the Monitor it could be a connection issue with the LCD screen or the inverter cable. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

Pavilion dv7 mic problems

Have had the unit for about a year, have very poor sound when trying to use Skype etc. microphone on the laptop has a very bad echo, sounds as though I am "at the bottom of a barrel". Have rechecked settings, using the internal mic, etc. What do I need to adjust so this unit works as well as my husband's considerably less expensive Toshiba?
The speakers work fine but the sound from my computer is so bad can't use it for VOIP ????

System Fan (90B) Error / HP Pavilion dv7-4060us

Hi. I have a Pavilion dv7-4060us notebook, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I had an overheating problem not too long ago that caused my notebook to shut down on it's own. I bought a cooling pad to help with the overheating, which helped. But now, everytime I start up, it gives me a black screen reading "Operating System has found that a cooling fan has stopped working" or something similar. The error code was "System Fan (90B)." This PreBoot Diagnostics that is indicating there is an issue with system fan. It would be a case of System Fan not running or running at slower speed than it should...
I would suggest, try doing power drain, by disconecting AC adapter, removing battery and pressing the power button for few secs... if that always you to boot to the OS, that Update the BIOS if not than I would suggest contacting HP Tech Support for getting your unit serviced...
