HP Pavilion DV7-6154nr incorrect sound driver?

Hello, i purchased this laptop a few years ago, and since then I've had to reformat and upgrade my windows install.
After the first time I did a hard-drive format, i noticed my audio quality was MUCH worse, and my lap was NOT using the intergrated Subwoofer(Beats Audio). I have audio, but its not the same quality.
I have been advised to install the IDT sound drivers for my model, but I still can't access the beats audio interface after, nor will the subwoofer or enhanced sound work.
After installing the recommended sound drivers, I go to Control Panel>Sound and attempt to find anything with a hint of the beats audio interface or settings, but all I see is "2-High Definition Audio Device" speakers, and Device manager lists 2 audio interfaces, "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and " High Definition Audio Device"
I'm pretty sure theres nothing wrong with my speakers, they just stopped using the enhanced sound and subwoofer after my reformat, right after in fact.

My pavilion dv7-1232nr dvd rw drive doesn't recognize some dvds how can I fix this problem? I am running Win 7 home premium 64 bit.

If these are new original DVD, you should bring your system in for alignment. If they are copied DVDs, the drive that made them may be out of alignment and your good drive can't read the bad copy.  There is also another issue you may be talking about. Many DVD movies are assigned a country code and will not run on a machine from another country.  This was intended to prevent piracy.

  • My brand new hp pavilion dv7 has no sound-seemed as if it did first day

new pavilion dv7-6c20us had a normal windows default beep 1st day-never tried anything with sound til last nite-tried to watch video for 1st time and no sound-did system restore still no sound. IT person at my job looked it over too and is lost as well. Windows 7 . I haven't used laptop at all except for dragging pictures from external hard drive onto it. I can play a movie with sound on tv with HDMI cable, and in sounds looks like its working but isn't audible. I can hear a click when I hit mute with headphones on.

If speakers are set as default and still no sound go to Device Manager and uninstall the IDT Audio device, choosing to also delete the driver. Retart the laptop and install the latest IDT driver from your models driver page. You may want to download and save it first in your Download folder.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 1464nr -No sound after updates

Yesterday I started doing the updates suggested in Health Check.  One of them said I had to have UAA Bus Driver installed before I did the update (for the IDT High Def Audio CODEC), so I downloaded & installed that 1st.  After that was downloaded & installed I didn't have any sound whatsoever.  I'm not a complete novice, so I right clicked on the Sound Icon down on the system tray, chose "Playback Devices" and made the "Speakers & Dual Headphones" the default.  Everything seemed to be working fine.  A few minutes later, no sound again.  So, I did a System Restore Point back to before I did all the updates.
I've got other updates waiting in the Health Check & I'm scared now to let them download & install.
Have you any thoughts on this?
    Thanks in advance,
    MaryEllen

  • HP Pavilion dv6815nr cant find sound driver.

I installed Windows XP on this laptop and was able to get most of the drivers except for the sound. I installed Win XP because my fried never made the recovery disc and I didnt feel like waiting for hp to send it to me. I just cant figure out what type of sound card is on here. name of the sound card or a straight up link to the driver would be nice if anyone can help out.(Windows xp not Vista)
    Thank you.

    Hi:
In order to install the audio on XP it takes a 2 step process.
    1. You have to first install the MS UAA driver
    2. Then you install the audio driver.
See the XP downgrade guide below and look at the info under Moderate Models for your notebook series.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and/General-XP-Downgrade-Guide-for-HP-Laptop...
You probably have the Conexant audio chip but if you want confirmation, click on the multimedia audio controller in the device manager.  Then click on the details tab.
Post the top string of characters you see there.
Those will iD the model audio chip you have, so you know what driver you need to install.
Note:  If we determine you do have the conexant audio, then install the MS UAA driver, and then install the driver that was modified by Silver on the downgrade guide and you should be all set.

  • Upgraded window from vista to 7 on pavilion DV7 sound not working

Pavilion DV7 1468NR upgraded windows from vista 64 to windows 7 64 sound not working

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45073.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

    Hi,
Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar ans select 'Playback Devices'.  Double click the 'Speakers and Headphones' entry and in the following window, click the Enhancements tab.  In the box containing these enhancements, make sure there is only a tick against 'Loudness Equalization' - remove any others.  Next click the Advanced tab and check that '16bit, 48000Hz ( DVD Quality )' is showing - if it isn't choose this selection from the dropdown box.  Click Apply and then click OK on all remaining open windows.

  • No Sound Speakers on computer not working, but head phones are for HP Pavilion Dv7

The speakers on my Hp Pavilion DV7-3164cl have stopped working. The only time sound works is when I use headphones or hook up the computer to my tv. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the IDT High Definition Audio Codec (Driver Version 6.1.6345.0) and the ATI High Definition Audio Device (Driver Version 5.0.7000.6) for my computer via device manager. I recently updated the HP Support program for my computer, but even when I tried to do a system restore it didn't fix the problem.  I'm begining to think it could be a faulty wiring issue, but I'm not sure how to fix that. Any ideas?
My operating system is Windows 7 Home Operating System

    Hi,
As a last try you can perform a recovery on the computer (Reset to factoy settings) by tapping F11 as soon as you turn it ON. Make sure to have your data backed up before doing recovery.
HP Notebook PCs - Recover Windows 7 Operating System Using HP Recovery c01895783
If recovery also doesnt help then it has to be speaker issue. To fix that you can call HP Technical Support to get it replaced if you still have a warranty on the notebook.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
