HP Pavilion dv7-6b03sg does no longer start

The laptop of my daughter does no longer start. It does not react at all. When connected to the power adapter the LED next to the power plug of the laptop is white, if the battery is not inserted and yellow, if the battery is inserted.
All other LEDs don´t react at all.
Hardware reset did not help.
Any idea about the reason?

Dead motherboard. Sorry.

  • There is no bluetooth device in the device manager on my pavilion dv7 - 4065ei, does it exist?

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4065ei on x64 Windows and I have never used the bluetooth device that is supposed to part of this laptop. I just know the specs from HP website say there is a BT device but I dont see it. I bought my laptop second hand so I dont know the original state.
I downloaded BT drivers on the official HP website (broadcom 2070) but I recieve an error during installation that sort of says there isn't any BT device on my laptop. There is no indication of any bluetooth device on this laptop even in the Device Manager.
I know there something I'm missing.
    Any help please?

Suggest that you download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion, which is the full featured version of AirPort Utility for Lion. This version was released at the same time as AirPort Utillity 6.0.....perhaps you missed this.
If you still don't see a NAT tab...that would indicate that the AIrPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode (NAT is turned off...so there is nothing to adjust) and that NAT is being handled by another device on your network.

  • KDE does no longer start - DBUS error - Awesome WM related problem

    Hi,
so I somehow managed to screw my KDE. I can no longer log in as my standard user, when I enter my username & password into the login-manager, the start process ends with a Window showing 'Could not start D-Bus. Can you call qdbus?'. When I press ok, I land back in the log-in screen.
The following is the content of ~/.xsession-errors:
/usr/bin/startkde: line 22: /usr/share/config/kdm/kde4-config: No such file or directory
    Agent pid 2157
    startkde: Starting up...
startkde: Could not start D-Bus. Can you call qdbus?
and at the end of the /var/log/kdm.log:
klauncher(2188) kdemain: No DBUS session-bus found. Check if you have started the DBUS server.
kdeinit4: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
kdmgreet(2182)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): KSystemTimeZones: ktimezoned initialize() D-Bus call failed: "Not connected to D-Bus server"
kdmgreet(2182)/kdecore (K*TimeZone*): No time zone information obtained from ktimezoned
Strange thing is, Dbus is running, so that should not be the problem.
So, I have asked around in the IRC channel, and was advised to move my .kde4 config, so that kde would create a new one. That did unfortunately nothing, the same problem persists. So then I created a new user for testing and voila, KDE starts under this user with the generated configs (even with the configs from the old user, though he wants to start everything as the old one and that causes problems).
Now my question is, what could be causing the problems? Dbus is surely running, as I can log in as the new testing-user, it also shows up in the process list, when I am logged in. Unfortunately it does not start up when I try to log in as the old user, and hence I can't start KDE. I was told, I could just delete the old user and create a new one to solve this issue, but I would like to avoid that.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
EDIT: Apparently the problem is related to awesome, after installing awesome, KDE seems to break after awesome is installed for every present user on the system. See also post #4.

What happens if you reboot after uninstalling awesome, instead of just log out/log in? Does kde work again then?
Nope, did that immediately after KDE broke. Rebooted actually several times without awesome installed and it didn't help.
berbae wrote:You didn't say how you launched awesome: from kdm or from console or other way?
    It is started from kdm.
berbae wrote:Say also if you have the systemd kdm.service enabled.
Cant tell you that right now, don't have the machine at work. Will check that later.
    berbae wrote:
Look what processes are running (especially the dbus-daemon and xorg related processes):
    before any WM/DE is launched,
when awesome is launched and running,
when you log out from awesome,
when you log in again, trying to launch kde
Use tty2 to check for the processes, when you don't have a command prompt (ctrl-alt-F2).
Only by searching you could find a clue for the possible cause of the problem; it will be the learning way.
As far as I remember it, dbus-daemon is launched when the system boots up. When I log in as a new user (hence with working KDE) it automatically starts another dbus process for kde as the new user. If i try that as the old (broken KDE) user, no dbus is started (and hence the problem).
berbae wrote:...Or take the easy way: just use a new user and don't install awesome again if you don't want to use it!
That was already suggested by some people in irc. I would like to avoid that because of two reasons:
first, I find this very unclean and ugly, I would like to fix the problem at its root
and second, I am afraid, that I might break the permissions in my whole home directory and nothing works anymore.
What I am currently suspecting is that when I install awesome (and probably also log in) it runs some script that configures dbus per-user and that breaks compatibility with KDE. Could you imagine something like that?

  • My pavilion dv7 doesn't start up

My pavilion dv7 Notebook PC doesn't start up. I removed battery and power and I reset hard. I started it up. Thats happened many times. Each time i shut it off I need to reset hard to start it up again. What is the problem and what is the solution for it?
Is out of warranty. Is there any HP repair center I can apply for repair?
    Product Number: XE274EA#ABU

    Hello @danaos947 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having issues starting up your dv7 notebook and have to do a hard reset to boot each time.
If you're only looking for service you can contact the HP Phone Support line. You can schedule a repair over the phone. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.
Can you tell me if you have the same issue when only using the AC adapter and no battery?
I would also suggest a startup repair. You can do this in the HP Recovery Manager by tapping F11 while the notebook boots up.
You can also try a system restore to before the issue started while in the Recovery manager if the repair does not work.
When the notebook doesn't boot are there any LED lights or sounds (Fan, HDD, etc...)? If not, it's power related and could be the battery motherboard or adapter depending on the source you're using. If there are sounds and appears to boot it might be the GPU or display. Try an external monitor in this case to rule out the display.
Here are some other documents you can go through:
Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps.
Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.
Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) or Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8).

HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx i have a HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx it will not start all the dash board lights light up no. & caps lock blink no certain pattern just blink 3 sec. blink, dvd drive makes a sound and 2 beeps can any one help, hp web help did not work

Well, it's good to know that something does work, since disabling it and enabling it helps. This leads me to believe that there is no hardware issue, which is good.
I think an uninstall and reinstall of the OS will help things.
First, you should backup your data. I will provide information on how to do that: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7)
Once this is done, it is safe to do the System Recovery. Here is some information on how to do this: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)

  • Hp pavilion dv7 notebook numeric keypad not working

The numeric keypad on my hp pavilion dv7 notebook does not work.  I can't get the num lock to work or any of the number keys to respond.

    Hi,
While this could be a hardware issue, it's always worth trying the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right click the entry 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and select Uninstall.
    Shutdown the notebook.
Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Note:  If the keyboard doesn't work when trying to access or navigate the Bios Menu, then this is probably a hardware fault.

  • HP Pavilion DV7-1428ca _ CAPS + NUM LOCK Continually Blinks + Will not Start up Black Screen

Would appreciate any suggestions on the issue I am encountering.
I have an HP Pavilion DV7-1428ca that was left powered on, so it went into Safe mode (screen goes blank). Once I came back to my Laptop hitting any key would take out of of the Safe mode however this time it did not. It remained with black screen irregardless of buttons pressed.
Had booted and can hear the fan and hdd go for the 2secs then it stops to a Black Screen with the "CAPS + NUM LOCK" Continually Blinking. Tried to Hard Boot several times but the same thing re-occurs.
It does not seem to be blinking in a series a code, just a steady blink (every sec) for both the CAPS + NUM Lock for as long as I leave it on. HP Site provides a chart from 1-6 series of blink codes which does not seem to apply to me.
Being out of Warranty I am hesitant in bringing it to a local repair shop without trying any alternate trouble shooting first.
    Thanks

    Hi,
First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter unplugged, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.  Plug in the AC Adapter ( leave the battery out ) and see if the notebook will start.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook starting with Blank White Screen--Help??

I've had an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook for a couple years now. Today I go to start it up (without the power cord plugged in), and a completely white screen appears. I'm thinking, maybe it's still starting up/working some kinks out. Then I hear the Windows 7 twinkling start up sound that usually happens when you get to your log in screen. So it seems the computer itself is working, but there is zero display on the screen. If anyone has any good advice/experience with this/knows how I can fix it or what I should do, PLEASE let me know! Computer problems are so distressing

I had this problem with my father's pavillion.
There was a broken pin in the screen socket on the motherboard so I guess it was always making poor contact until one day this pin must have broken off completely and the screen would only display completely white.
I inserted a fine solid wire (not multi-strand) into the plug at the right point so that it only just stuck out enough to make contact with what was left of the pin in the socket, whilst being fully inserted into the plug.
I then taped the plug/socket together to make sure it didn't loose contact by coming loose.
Seems to have solve the problem in the short term (but the socket should need replacing for a long-term fix).

  • Recovery Discs from HP won't start in my HP Pavilion Dv7

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 that I need to wipe clean due to spyware. I bought the System Recovery DVD's from HP and on them it states "to begin, insert the disc into the optical drive of your computer and follow the on-screen instructions." Unfortunately I insert the disc and I get the info from the disc to come up but no instructions. I have even tried to make the laptop run from the disc drive at start up. when I did that it wanted me to create system recovery discs. I do not need to make them, I have them from HP. Just frustrated on why the disc from HP are not doing as instructed.
Here is a picture of the screen I get when the disc are inserted:
I really do hope someone can help me I have been waiting to do this for weeks since I had to wait for the discs.
    Thank you,

    You're very welcome, KC.
If you can't boot from the DVD, it could indeed be a bad disk.
Also, make sure you have disk 1 in first to boot from.
And yes, you should get a very brief message to hit any key to boot from CD, so watch carefully for it.
If you miss it you have to start all over again and reboot the PC.

    Hi,
Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall HP Quick Launch Buttons - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

    Hp pavilion dv7

    Hi,
Turn on power, press F10 to enter BIOS mode, Go to Diagnostics and run Hard Drive Test if any test fails you need to replace the part.
The failure ID will either be a Smart or Disk Self Test failure - both would indicate that your Hard Drive is failing and will need to be replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-4087cl won't start-up

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion dv7-4087cl with Windows 7 Home Prem OA. There have been no installations or upgrades made. Everytime I turn on my computer it becomes a black screen then it says "Boot Device Not Found Please install an operating disk. Hard Disk (3FO)" I don't know what any of this means. It also allows me to view system diagnostics so I can run a start-up and run-in test. My memory is 100% fine but the start-up is a failure. Please help.

Sounds like the hard drive has died, not uncommon in laptops. You can replace it with a retail laptop hard drive, but will need Recovery Disks to install Windows-hope you burned your set? If not you can >> order from HP for a small fee.
If you need help selecting a new hard drive post back. Just be sure to purchase one of at least as large a capacity as you have now (640GB) in order to use Recovery Disks. Can be>> larger capacity, but not smaller. Your>> Service Manual has instructions for replacing hard drive.
