HP Pavilion dv7-6c23cl Entertainment Notebook PC usb 3.0 not working

I had a hard drive failure and replaced with new drive. Did a clean install of Windows Home Premium x64 and have since had several items listed in the device manager as unknown/no drivers found.
One of the noted effects is the 3.0 USB ports on the left do not function properly. They provide power but will not read any devices. The standard ports on the right function fine.
I have done several rounds of windows updates and have downloaded and installed all the related drivers from this page: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5218...
The Other Devices listed in the device manager with (!) warnings are:
BCM20702A0
SM Bus Controller
Universal Series Bus (USB) Controller (listed 2x)
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:
Please install the AMD chipset driver and reboot. You want the first file listed on the webpage.
That should install the smbus and usb 3 controllers.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows 7 - 64
The other device is the BCM bluetooth radio that needs a driver.

  • Bluetooth on HP Pavilion dv7-2173cl Entertainment Notebook PC

I can't seem to make this work with my Droid Razr Maxx or bluetooth wireless speaker even though there are icons in Devices and Printers dialog box with little yellow triangles on them.  Ever since I have owned this laptop, I have not been able to use bluetooth.   I have a 2009 HP Pavilion dv7-2173cl Entertainment Notebook PC that is running windows 7 all updated. Device manager shows that there is a bluetooth module to which I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times. I'm beginning to think that the module is defective.
    This question was solved.

It appears that the device is an HP branded bluetooth module.  However, the information I can locate says it is powered by a Broadcom driver.
Did this notebook originally come with Windows 8?
Try this driver and let me know if it has an effect on your issue.

  • Hello ,my dvd rw driver (f:) in my hp pavilion dv7-3186cl entertainment notebook can not read cd's o

Hello ,My DVD RW Driver (F, in my HP Pavilion dv7-3186cl Entertainment Notebook PC / Operating System 64-bit, after installing new hardware ( printer ) can not read CD’s or DVD’s is not working ,How can I fix it?

    Hi,
First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the relevant link below.
    Windows 7
    Vista
Check if the drive is now working.
If it still doesn't work, click the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager.  Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives.  Right click the drive and select uninstall.  Do not delete drivers if asked.  When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ).  Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.

  • HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC_Keyboard and Touchpad Suddenly Stops Working

    Hi there,
I have an HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC (QG411PA) running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit for more than a couple of years already. During those times up until now, whenever my laptop is on standby for an hour or so, its keyboard and touchpad suddenly stops working, regardless if its running on battery or on AC power.
I always ensure that I have an external mouse in order for me to navigate properly and pull up the on-screen keyboard in order to type once that issue arises.
All appears to be updated in terms of Windows Updates and I even reformatted it, but issue still persists.
Is this particular issue that I am experiencing a harware issue? Perhaps a software issue? Or maybe a defective model itself?
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Led

  • HP Pavilion dm3-1035dx entertainment notebook/PC's touchpad no longer works?

    Hello.
I have a HP Pavilion dm3-1035dx entertainment notebook/PC that hasn't been used for over an year or so. I finally used it again today, but its touchpad no longer works. I researched on the web and found out that others have this problem, but with its sleep mode. Obviously, mine was one was off and not asleep. I also read there is a BIOS update to fix it. I tried that and it didn't fix the problem.
The button between the space bar and touchpad always show white color. Pressing it doesn't seem to do anything (color doesn't change and no changes). I also noticed the preinstalled 64-bit W7 HPE's Device Manager does not seem to show this touchpad. I also tried a Windows 7 PE boot CD and its mouse didn't work either. Both installed OS and the boot CD used to work with its touchpad.
Is this touchpad dead? Is there anything else to check?
    Thank you in advance.

I guess battery might have gone bad and needs to be replaced. Download and Install HP Support Assistant from here and follow instructions from below link to run a test on your battery

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b10tx two of the usb ports are not working

I have recently bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6b10tx....and had it fixed by hp for a problem with the beeping noise.
After sending my laptop for repairs( replacing the system board), I received my laptop but two of my usb ports are not functioning...
I did a bios update and did the hp update to see if it actually fix anything but not luck.  So I went device manager and found a exclamation mark on the renesas electronics usb 3.0 host controller with a device status 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'.  What do i do??

The question is why is the port not working?  Is something in the port that you can see?  If not, then there isn't much you can do but take the computer in to the genius bar and have the techs see if it is a circuit problem that can be fixed.

  • HP 15-d041tu Notebook Some USB Stuff is not working?

I have bought this Notebook computer which is model HP 15-D041TU which has a Celeron N2810 / 2GB / 500GB HDD and having trouble with it ever since i bought it. First there were issues with finding correct drivers for the sytem which took me nearly 3 days to solve. The drivers that was provided in the website didn't work with the system plus automatic drivers detection software does not detect the system. Now i got everything installed and running perfectly well with windows 7 64BIT Version. Another problem arises,
My iPhone doesn't work, it tries to connects but breaks in the middle with blimb blimb sound coming repetitiously until USB Device gives a error
Next problem is i use to have Virus mouse ( Some cheap chinese bran Je-Way or something ). It works perfectly with all computers except for this one, driver doesn't install on this.
What's happening with this computer? is there something i don't know about USB 3.0 and windows 7? some old devices doesn't work? my iPhone works perfectly with all other computers with same cable and same itunes and same windows 7 64.

Hello nofacemonster, welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an issue with a mouse and iPhone connect them to the usb 3.0 port on your notebook. I will try to help you with this.
The first thing I'd like to provide you is this document: Troubleshooting USB Connections (Windows 8).
The issue you may be having, is with backwards compatibility. The document may be able to help you with that. Some older device just may not work with usb 3.0 though. It does depend on the device.
In regards to the iPhone, this post on the Apple Forums should answer your questions: Re: Simple. Does the iPhone 5s have usb 3?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.
    Flash Player Uninstaller.
When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next ( unless you alrady have it ), download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.  Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.
Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.
Launch Firefox and see if Youtube videos now play Ok in this browser - if they do, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart Internet Explorer.
