Hp pavilion dv7t problem
Hello,
I have 2 questions.
Last summer I bough a laptop in America, but I live in Belgium.
A Pavilion dv7t quad ed/A3G47AV/H123068413
There is a problem with my laptop, it makes a loud noise. Could it be replaced in America or can I change it in Belgium?
If I can't replace it in Belgium can it be replaced in 1 week? Because I'm going in februari to America and I stay there 1 week.
Thank you
Hi,
It has to be repaired in United States only unless you had seperately bought the international warranty during the time of purchase..
Loud noise issues are usually fan related and most likley the fan needs to be replaced. If the system is still under warranty then you can call tech support for US at 1800-474-6836 but getting it repaired in 1 week is difficult..It'll take atleast 7-10 days to get it back.
You can also refer to this link and check if it helps..
Reducing Heat and Fan Noise
Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

timings, please resolve the problemHi,
Be sure that the battery is fully charge then try the following:
Hit the ESC key after power on to bring up the Start up Menu and then select System Diagnostics (F2). Now run the battery test.
If the battery is OK then try the below suggestion:
Go to the Control Panel ----> Power Options and then select the HP Power Manager on the left column. You can then select one of the power plans and see the effects on battery life.
Depending on the power plan selected and what applications your are running, you may not get more than one hour on battery.

HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Under Warranty and Support won't help
Hello,
I have my pavilion laptop suddenly have power outages. Verified that the product is under warranty and submitted a case. The helpful support responded. Closed my case. Then proceeded to tell me that I had to go to another site to submit. The link led me to exactly where they just closed the case and I could see my case I just opened marked as closed. Thanks for the help. In an email, this very helpful support person told me to navigate to chat and their directions didn't lead me to any chat. So I'm left with a product under warranty that HP has cleverly hidden all means of support and actually fulfilling the warranty.
========================================================================================
So throwing out the case notes and hoping anyone within HP or the community can lend guidance.
roduct: HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC
Problem description: Getting multiple eventid 41 associated with sudden shutdown of computer ("The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."). I initially thought it was disk crash so replaced the hard drives and problem continues. I checked the power supply cord which was facing a recall and that appeared fine (not covered by the recall). Seems this is under warranty and this is freezing me up from doing work.

Ran disk check, even after doing putting in new hard drive. No issues. Ran memory check. No issues. So memory and disk appear fine. Could be PSU based upon error code supplied. Odd w/ laptop. Forums suggested possible motherboard issue.

Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC hard disk failure imminent.
Lately this laptop has been running slow and hot. Just yesterday, I recieved an error message on my laptop (HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO), saying "SMART Hard Disk Error" followed by a message telling me that the SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. It told me to backup my files and then press F2 and run a hard disk test. The Quick Test Passed. The complete test gave this error.:"Hard Disk reporting failure 301 Disk Name: Toshiba MK7559GSXP Volume C:/D:/F:/)". I am sure I will have to replace the hard disk. Right now it is a Toshiba 750GB SATA hard disk drive, 5400 RPM, 2.5 inch small form factor (SFF). Can this hard drive be replaced with a Hybrid SSHD like the following:
Seagate Hybrid Drives ST1000LM014 1TB MLC/8GB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s NCQ 2.5" Laptop SSHD
or
TOSHIBA Hybrid Drives MQ01ABD100H 1TB+8GB(NAND Flash) 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" Laptop SSHD
If not, what would be the best replacement hard drive that you reccommend?Hi,
You can put the second HDD on the second bay, existing BIOS can handle this BUT you need more hardware namely a caddy set (caddy & cables). You can buy from:

HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC Hard Drive Replacement
Hello,
I have HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC and I had had hard drive issues from within warranty period. i.e. I purchase in 2010 and had a hard drive replaced in 2011 and again in 2012. Next time it failed in 2013 (almost 11 months apart on an average).
Last time when it failed, the warranty had expired so I thought of giving it a few try e.g. running thru bad sector fixing/writing-off softwares from seagate, Toshiba....this got me out of Smart Drive Error.
I have been using the HDD for sometime now but want to be prepared for the next round and I'm sure it'll be gone for good the next time.
Current HDD is 640GB, 7200 RPM Hardrive (replaced in 2012). HP Part# 621046-001.
When replacing, can I use ANY 640GB hard drive? Can I use a hard drive that is larger than 640 GB? Different RPM?
Any suggestions about hard drive?
The recovery discs I had received with the replacement drive did not work correctly. I had to use the first set I had created right after I purchased the laptop.
Thank you.

This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi Pratik Patel
According to product manual:
Your system supports SATA 9.5mm or 12.5mm , 2.5" HDDs
supports upto 2 hard drives
supports SSD too.
Single hard drive configurations supported:
250GB, 320GB, 500GB @7200RPM @9.5mm
640GB @5400RPM @9.5mm
750GB, 1TB @5400RPM @12.5mm
160GB SSD
If you want dual hard drive configurations, please click following link (user manual):
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02666747.pdf
But, there is not hard fast rules that only 5400rpm can be used instead of 7200rpm, which was used to replace your earlier hdd.
hope this has helped you.
thanks

HP Pavilion dv7t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC motherboard replacement
Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion dv7t-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC with the black screen (of death) due to a known fault with the graphics chip. I have been trying to buy a replacement motherboard at an affordable price that does not have this problem. I have seen several HP Pavilion motherboards that look very similar to mine, but have a different part number. Can anyone tell me or recommend a replacement motherboard that is compatible with my laptop and hopefully does not have this known graphics chip problem. Thanks for your time and support.

We need the P/N to verify what board will fit in that laptop and also you can use that P/N from service manual to locate the part on eBay to find a match or call HP support to see what the board would cost.

Question - Need Advice Regarding Second Hard Drive On HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 Notebook PC
Hi,
I currently have a HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 Notebook PC, and my hard drive failed (luckily while still under warranty!). So I contacted HP support and they are in the process of sending me a replacement hard drive, so that I may install it. When I opened the back of the notebook, I realized that a second hard drive could be installed, if desired. I would be interested in doing this! My current primary drive was (and will be again) a Toshiba 1 TB Internal hard drive Serial ATA-300 2.5" 5400 rpm, model MK1059GSM. I understand (from reading a previous post) that for the second hard drive, I will need to purchase a "2nd HDD Caddy & Cable for HP dv7-4000, dv7-5000, dv7t SE" (the purchase link the tech in the other post referred to was http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=345); and now I need to decide on the size (and other stats) of the hard drive that I will buy to install and used as the secondary drive. The HP customer service rep I spoke with on the phone about my primary drive replacement said that it is usually recommended to not go any higher (in capacity) than the primary drive, for the second drive, to ensure a more "stable" system (but I am not sure about the level of"technical" knowledge he has about the inner workings of the notebooks). However, from my upgrading experiences with desktop PCs, I was usually able to go as high in capacity as I could/desired; as long as the physical size of the drive was the same, and it was compatible with my system. And I usually did choose to go with a larger capacity second drive, as this was where most of my data and media files were stored (with the primary being used for mostly operating system and system files). This is my first time "upgrading" a Notebook, so I wanted to check with the techs here on the board- would it be a problem for me to go with a secondary drive larger than my primary drive's 1TB capacity? Also, are there any other factors to consider and keep in mind when selecting a second hard drive? Any advice and replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help with this! -BrianYou should be able to go as high as 2TB.
I also own a,(Older), DV7 notebook which has dual drive capability.
I bought my caddy from the place recommended and got everything needed including screws !
I matched the capacity in mine with an exact same hard drive and have never had a problem.
Minor battery life noticable but that was it.
Your system BIOS is what will hold you back from say a 3TB drive.
You can go to HP site and check the specs on your model and find out for 100 % sure.
HP Support & Drivers | United States
I would recommend doing what I did and match the drive exactly.
Good day ! -
My Recovery Drive is Full, How do I clean it up? (HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO)
Hi, I'm not too comfortable with messing around with the inner workings of my computer, but the Recovery Hard Disk Drive has been slowly filling up for a while now. It is just about full and I was wondering if there was any way for me to clean it up/restore it without messing up my programs and files? I did it once before, but I can't remember how and I'm too scared to mess with it without some kind of instruction.
I have a USB hard drive for making back ups that I use now as a precaution if something goes wrong with cleaning the Recovery Disk.
My computer is a HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC running on Windows 7.
If someone could give me some advice, that would be wonderful.Hi,
See the HP document on the following link regarding this issue - although the document refers o Vista, it also applies to Windows 7.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t that has a broken hinge. It has slowly become a problem. First the screw fell out and we tried to replace it but it did not hold it tight enough. I have been very carefull with my laptop and I very rarely move it from its location in our house. Now I realize that my free support ended last week September 25th. I wish I had looked into the problem sooner because I have been dealing with it for months.
I have seen the other posts and seen where some have tried to get this fixed and others have been sent a new laptop. What are my options at this point? Will it cost me to call support and ask what they recommend I do?
I am very disappointed in HP because I have up to now had great trust in this company and it's products.Just got my Pavilion m6 back from HP, fixed hinges and screen at no cost to me. Laptop was out of warranty, but after a long phone conversation, HP finally decided to make it right. There are numerous people with this same issue. Let them know that. Good luck

Hi,
I purchased a Pavilion dv7t and have had it for just over a week. Yesterday morning and this morning it has shutdown on its own once. The Event Viewer doesn't help and shows the following:

HP Pavilion dv7t-5000 CTO drivers
The support page for driver downloads for my HP Pavilion dv7t-5000 CTO laptop has all dead links. I cannot download any drivers for any hardware. Have the files been moved or are they no longer offered? I bought this laptop about 5 months ago from Costco.
Hi,
Do you have Antivirus which blocks exe files on your machine ? Or may be firewall ? I can download them all (one by one) by clicking this:

HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC - Upgrade Processor
Hello,
Any help would be appreciated.
I have an HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC. Because of a new job I need to update my processor from the current 2.30 GHz (see exact specs below, please) to at least 3.0 GHz.
Is there a 3.0GHz processor out there that is compatible with this particular computer? I've called technical support and was told they don't know. I really don't know who else to ask.
This computer was just purchased a few months ago (before I got the new job). I would really like to avoid purchasing a new computer, if at all possible, if I can upgrade the processor in this one.
Here are the specs of the current processor:
Intel Core i7 3610QM
Code Name Ivy Bridge
Package Socket 988B rPGA
Technology 22nm
Specification Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
Thanks in advance.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Well, there appears to be just one (that I've found) 3.0 GHz processor that Intel makes for my chipset (HM77 Express Chipset) and it's the i7-3940XM Extreme edition (http://ark.intel.com/products/71096/)
At a retail price of $1,000+ it looks like I'm going shopping for a new computer.
Not sure if anyone from HP read the peer forums, however, I will not be purchasing another HP product.
This machine has had issues outside of me needing to upgrade the processor for my own personal reasons. Your support is grossly lacking in all areas Your techscannot even pull up the model number with the serial number.

2nd hard drive for HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Notebook - What do I need?
Hi, I have the HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook (Product # WV703AV). It has room for two harddrives but only came with one. What would I need in order to install the second hard drive? Would I need just a connecting cable or do I also need caddy or kit?
Also, could I get a solid state? Would my notebook support that or does it only use regular ones?
Currently, I'm running Windows 7 64bit. I've got a 500GB hd (which came partitioned with hp tools/recovery).
Any help with what I would need for a traditional hdd or ssd would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look through other people's posts first, but couldn't find anything specific to my model. Thanks for your time!
This question was solved.
View Solution.Hi:
The only place I know of where you can get a 2nd hard drive kit is from this vendor.
http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=345
Your notebook should be able to work with a SSD but I cannot guarantee it.
I really don't see any point in adding a SSD unless you make it the primary hard drive, and in order to do that, you would need to get a SSD the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery disks to reinstall the operating system.
Most folks get smaller SSD's and they use the W7 product key to activate a plain installation of W7.
If you can read all 25 characters of your windows 7 product key you can make your own installation media and use that to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

Updating my Pavilion DV7t-1000
I had this machine downgraded to XP pro when I got it. Which was a real nightmare. Ready to upgrade to win 7 Prof 64 bit. Have new copy of windows for this.
Updating the memory to 8gig which should work
Want to add larger hd 1TB and possibly SSD for primary.
Pn is FH60TAV
SN is CND9020Q35
T5800 2GHZ
Want to do a clean format and install.
Assume I can download all the drivers and have them available on a chip. What about the BIOS upgrade? Can I do it with XP? or what would be the sequence. I am not much of a windows guy so could use a little advise on pulling this off. ThanksHi Orgtec,
I understand you are looking for BIOS upgrade. Here is a document on HP Pavilion dv7t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.
