HP Pavilion Elite h8-1380t is a GTX970 Graphics Card Compatible?

I need a graphics card that will allow acceleration in adobe illustrator. I'm just not sure what is compatible with this PC but I am looking at a GTX970 . I am a freelance designer and illustrator hangs and large files take forever to export so I need to upgrade to a better video card and I am going to install 8 more gbs of ram. Hopefully this helps the illustrator lag. I'm not a computer harware guru lol. Here are my specs:  Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3820 CPU @ 3.60GHz Manufacturer Intel Speed 3.6 GHz Number of Cores 4 CPU ID BFEBFBFF000206D7 Family 06 Model 2D Stepping 7 Revision   Video Card AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series Manufacturer ATI Chipset AMD Radeon HD 7700 Series Dedicated Memory 2.0 GB Total Memory 4.0 GB Pixel Shader Version 5.0 Vertex Shader Version 5.0 Hardware T & L Yes Vendor ID 1002 Device ID 683D Plug and Play ID VEN_1002&DEV_683D&SUBSYS_6886103C&REV_00 Driver Version 15.200.1046.0 Memory 24 GB Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional Edition (build 9600), 64-bit Service Pack 0 Size 64 Bit Edition   Version 6.3.9600 Locale 0409 BIOS Ver: PIT_714.rom vPIT7.14 Version AMI 7.14 Manufacturer AMI

OK.
It is indeed upgradeable. Ensure that you check all prospective video card system requirements to see if they require that you upgrade the PSU. Check the specs for your PC to see how many Watts (RMS) the PSU delivers. I just checked. It has only 300 Watts. It would be better  to upgrade to one with a bit more grunt (@450 Watts or better) if your plan is to upgrade to a video card that has some real power.
Most lower end PC's do not have PSUs  that come equipped with PCIe six and eight pin power connectors. They are required for the mainstream and higher end graphics cards.
The video card you asked about:
Requirements
Minimum of a 350 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 18 Amps.)
Total Power Draw : 49 Watts
Some versions of the video card, depending on the installed vRAM require more power.

Hi,I've been searching for a even better Graphics Card than what I have in my computer right now.It seems that when I play the new updated Train Simulator 2015,my graphics can't keep up with the games graphics which they reccommend the Graphics Card 512MB with Pixel Shader 3.0 (AGP PCIe only) Iam trying to figure out which Card would be in the best to get and also be in mid price range or for a good deal.If anybody knows of a Graphics Card that I could upgrade from the current Nvidia Zotac GT 520 card that I have in my CPU already.I'd be greatful for anyone's opinion on this,Thank's!  :-)

I have some sad news for you. The m9040n is below the minimums required for gameplay of Trainz 2015.
Your system has a 2.4Ghz processor, min is 2.8Ghz, recommended is an I-5 at 3.4Ghz.
The Zotac GT520 1GB 64bit card is too weak, but no sense upgrading the card. You do not the CPU power.

  • Pavilion P6-2326s Power cycling with new graphics card

Hi, I just got a Pavilion P6-2326s from a friend that didn't want it anymore because it was broken. I know a little about PCs so I thought i could fix it and have a spare. It would fire up and run but no video. I figured onboard video was dead and ordered a new cheap video card(EVGA GT610 1GB). I installed it and and no go. the pc just cycles through starting for 3-4 seconds, stops, starts again for few seconds and goes again. It will keep doing this forever or until I hold in power button to shut down. I thought maybe vid card was drawing too much juice, so I removed power supply and put in a known good, 550 watt that I have. Same deal with the start, stop sequence. Tried removing, replcing battery to refresh CMOS in BIOS. Same result with start, stop sequence. Is it safe to assume that Motherboard is probable fried? One othe note, when I got the PC and opened it up, it was the dirtiest PC I have ever seen. It was really caked up with dust and webs. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance

You would definitely need to remove the add on video card in order to change the BIOS settings, but if you don't have any video with the video card removed, then you still can't see the BIOS settings, and you are pretty much out of luck.
You would probably be throwing good money after bad unless you can find the same motherboard on eBay in used but tested and working condition at a very reasonable price.
Here are listings of the motherboard your model uses.  They may be from different model PC's however that use the same motherboard and again, you may not be able to use W8 because if some of those motherboards came from models with W7, there won't be a W8 product key in the BIOS.
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XH-Joshua-H61-uATX+...
Then there might be a problem with getting Windows 8 reactivated since the motherboard was changed even if you do manage to find one that came from a PC with W8.
If it were me...This would be a case where I would strip it for parts, and toss the rest of it out.

  • Is my laptop (HP Pavilion 17-e054ca) upgradable to a new graphics card??

The details about my laptop can be found here
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=5403386&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en
It has an inbuilt ati radeon 8670m graphics card...but it's not sufficient for my gaming needs. I was wondering if my laptop has the capability to be upgraded to a better nvidea graphics card. Can I install another graphics card at its place and still make the system perform normally. Would it have any compatability issues??
I want to know the details of how it could be done? Also suggest some good graphics card from nvidia.
    Thank YOu !!

    Hi:
Your notebook does not have a removable graphics "card."
The graphics processing units are soldered to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded or replaced.
Your model has the best graphics solution offered, so if it isn't going to meet your needs, you will have to consider selling or trading your notebook in for one with the graphics solution you want.

  • HP Pavilion G6 - Radeon graphics card issue

    Hi all!
I have a HP Pavilion G6-2240SH notebook, that has two graphics card. I'm using Windows 8.1 operating system
The motherboard's graphics card works correctly. But there's a hyper-super other card: Radeon HD 7600M
I tried to use the official driver from HP's site, and other drivers from the official Radeon's site, but it doesn't work.
The operation system tells me that "Windows has stopped this device becouse it has reported problem (Code 43)".
Do you have any idea what could be the problem with my video card?
    Thanks...

    Hi:
On the models with the AMD/Intel switchable graphics, you have to use the graphics driver on the support and driver page for your notebook.
    See if this works...
Download and run the driver again from your notebook's support page.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-113258-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
Go to the device manager and click on the problem amd graphics adapter.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the browse my computer for driver software method and browse t the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp59936.
Make sure the include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
If that doesn't work, see if this driver works instead...

  • HP Pavilion G4 1003-TX Graphic Card Problem

Hello... I have HP pavilion G4 1003TX laptop which cureently having graphic card problem. Technician at my place said that's caused by the solder connection on my Radeon graphic card.  He said it can be repaired, but the same problem will happen again soon unless i replaced my graphic card with new one.
In my laptop, i have Radeon and Intel graphic card which i can switch freely. My question is, if i change from my Radeon to my Intel graphic card, is my graphic card problem solved? Is my laptop still will not last long unless i buy new graphic card?
Please help me if you know the answer. Thanks

So my laptop will not start after i turned it on. The technician said it because some solder connection on the graphic card so it need to be resoldered. He warn me that the same problem will happen again soon since it's sign that my VGA card will dead. After he resoldered, my laptop can work normally for 3 months. Now, after 3 months, my laptop  can't start again just like before. The technician said it because of solder connection of my VGA card again.
So, since my laptop has Intel and Radeon VGA card that i can switch, is switching my VGA card form Radeon to Intel will solve my Radeon VGA card dead problem? Will my laptop can work normally if i switch my VGA card to Intel?

  • Pavilion Elite e9180f freezes, crashes, BSOD

I am one of the many unhappy customers who bought this piece of junk (Pavilion Elite e9180f) and waited too long to return it because in my naivete, I thought it was some kind of simple software issue.  Nope!  It's definitely something wrong with the hardware, because the freezes and crashes have been happening since day 1, right when I took the thing out of the box.
Yeah, the system is fast and runs Windows Vista great, when it's actually WORKING, which is usually only guaranteed for about the first 5 minutes after you power the system on and boot windows.  After that, it's just buying time before it crashes again.  Forget trying to get anything done on this computer.  Forget about asking this PC to play a video or music file without the files "stuttering" during playback.  Even my 7 year old Sony Vaio which is running XP can handle playing an MP3 file without stuttering and crashing!
Like everyone else, the freezes and crashes happen either one of two ways:
    1) The machine begins to "stutter", stutter more, then freeze/crash.  When I say stutter, I mean I move the mouse, the pointer graphic will hesitate on the screen and lag behind.  If you start to play a video or music file, this manifests in an audible "stutter".  The stuttering gets worse and worse as minutes pass until eventually it freezes for good, blasting that 1/50th second moment of audio into infinity.  You have to reboot immediately if you don't want to go deaf or be driven mad.
    2)  I will be doing nothing at the time (example, I close all programs out and leave Windows sitting on the main desktop screen), I'll walk out of the room for a minute, then come back and find I can't move the mouse. This system will often lock-up without any warning!
Sometimes I'll get a BSOD or error screen, sometimes I won't (in which case your only option is to do a cold re-boot.)  When I do get the BSOD, the error is ALWAYS the "did not get a response from the secondary processor" yada yada.  I wish HP would just admit they shipped this model out with a bad processor/motherboard/whatever and do an official recall.  I have owned PCs for the last 13 years and this is the worst and most consistently disappointing experience I have ever had.
What is the hardware issue?  Which part is the lemon part?  The motherboard?  The processor?  The BSODs seem to indicate a bad processor.  I do have the Pegatron Truckee version 1.03 motherboard.  Is that the problem?
P.S.  I have contacted HP on many occasions about this, literally stayed on the phone for hours with "customer support" (according to one HP rep, 80% of their customer service reps are based outside of the United States...good luck getting any "technical" help from them) to no avail.  I did talk to one nice tech support guy in Canada who said "it sounds like your unit has a bad processor", so he had HP send me a box to ship my unit to their repair center so they can replace the processor.  However, I have also had HP reps tell me it could be anything from the memory to the hard drive.  Multiple HP reps claimed to me that they have "received no complaints" about this system.  One guy told me he "thought he got an email last week" regarding "something" about the system, but couldn't remember what it was and he put me on hold while he searched for the email.  He never found it.  What a joke.
EDIT:  Just to clarify, the crashing issue has been happening since day one, but initially I thought it was an issue with Vista.  I had never owned or used Vista before, so I thought maybe Vista was just unstable.  Nope.  I know several people who own Vista and have never experienced these issues.  I have downloaded every update from Microsoft/Windows Update.  I have upgraded to Vista SP2 with all the latest drivers and software for all of my hardware.  No luck.  It is definitely a hardware issue.  Thank god HP's warranty is good for 1 year (I bought my Elite in July).
Message Edited by Doonyman on 09-24-2009 02:58 AM

Unfortunately I have to add my disastrous encounter with HP's E9180F a true lemon HP is selling. I must take some responsibility for not carefully researching this model before I purchased, but I trusted the HP name and got stung- big time.
    The scoundrel  :
HP and its Pavilion Elite e9180f
    Windows 7 64bit
motherboard - Pegatron  Truckee ver 1.03
    BIOS ver  5.22Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
    Memory 9206 MB Ram
As so many others have reported my HP E9180f started locking up and going to BSOD right out of the box. My first freeze-up came when I was doing the Windows update process. At first I didn't think much about it but I started getting random freezes a couple time a day. At that point I went online to see if others had experienced the same problem and perhaps had a fix. What I found was very troubling;  I found extensive documentation describing my exact problems and what was really horrifying was the reports of how ridiculous HP's help services were treating people with the problem. At first I didn't totally believe what I was reading on HP's own customer forum; I do now.
    ·         I've went through the total recovery process three times now, HP techs have spent hours remotely running my computer, (yes it did lock up on them to)
    ·         I had to upgraded the BIOS. (HP tech tried, said he had, but he hadn't)
    ·         I was directed to clear the BIOS (luckily for me I had the tools
    ·         Updated all drivers again and again.
    ·         Next I was asked to remove the video card, memory, and motherboard power cable and reseat them. I declined because I didn't want to give HP any reason to void my HP 2 year House Call Care Pack which covers this unit. When I invited HP to send a service tech out to perform these tasks, they said that house call only covers part replacement, we weren't replacing a part. I couldn't believe what I was told. Are you feeling my frustration?
Keep in mind that each time HP requests that I make changes, they then ask me to test the system, which I did and each time with the same result, BSOD
I'm heading into my fifth week of working with HP to fix this problem. and I still haven't even been able to get my case moved up to a senior case manager, what a joke HP's help process is.
     One conversation I loved was;
HP tech: "I'll have a senior case manager call you within 24 hours."
Skeptical me: "What should I do if I don't get a call?"
    Silence, no response.
Me again: "What should I do if I don't get a call?"
    HP tech: "That's an impossibility."
Guess what? The impossibility became reality (I bet you guessed) .
HP's last stall tactic was to have me fax them my proof of purchase and invoice and call back in 24 hours. Where have I heard that before? Apparently nothing can go forward until they receive it. So I faxed them the stuff within 10 minutes, and when I called back 24 hours later, guess what, you're right it wasn't on their system yet. I asked couldn't I be escalated to a senior case manager  (it's apparent that only a senior case manager can do anything). "No," was the tech's reply, "call back again later".
Please if anyone out there knows the secrete to getting a senior case manager, or an HP tech support number here in the U.S. so I can get this thing fixed I'd love to know it.
    Fast becoming HP never again.

My computer will now lock-up and crash whenever I attempt to stream anything, be that music, video, etc. I can still occasionally play video games, assuming that I am doing nothing else, and that my computer cooperates with me (not locking up), but this only happens about 1/3 of the time.
My main confusion is that sending my computer in was supposed to fix my problem, not make it worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion Elite HPE-480t computer and an HP bd 340i 12x blu-ray writer

I purchased HP 12x Blu-Ray writer model bd340i in the middle of last year. When I purchased my desk top from HP in December of 2010 model HP Pavilion Elite HPE-480t I installed the burner and every thing was working fine. Today I tried to burn a blu-ray disc and it came back with can not read media, that was on imgBurn. So I tried the same on the systems burner and it came back as no disc in tray. I also tried CyberLink burning software and the same thing no disc.
I then tried to play both store bought and home made blu-ray disc and it could not read the media. I was ready to blame it on a bad burner but I then tried a regular DVD both store bought and home made and it played fine. I then tried to burn a dvd single and dual-layer with all three burning softwares I have and again it was fine, no problems. Its just the blu-ray media that can not be read or writen. The only blu-ray media I used from day one has been Kodak and never had a problem. Thats what baffles me.
I at this point dont know if its a hardware or software problem with the computer or blu-ray burner or both. 3 different burning programs works fine on DVD's but not blu-ray, Plays DVD's fine but can not play or burn blu-ray discs.
Could it be the blu-ray laser crapped out and the dvd reading and writing laser is still working ?  Does a blu ray burner even have to lasers for the two medias [DVD and Blu Ray]???
Everything else with the computer works fine. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and its the same, I tried to update the drivers and firmware on your site and still did not work. Please some help.

I then tried to burn a dvd single and dual-layer with all three burning softwares I have and again it was fine, no problems. Its just the blu-ray media that can not be read or writen. The only blu-ray media I used from day one has been Kodak and never had a problem. Thats what baffles me.
Please provide previous troubleshooting steps, or information that can help HP assist you.:  I at this point dont know if its a hardware or software problem with the computer or blu-ray burner or both. 3 different burning programs works fine on DVD's but not blu-ray, Plays DVD's fine but can not play blu-ray.
Has anything changed since the unit functioned properly (installation of SW, settings, cabling, etc.):  Everything else with the computer works fine. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling and its the same, I tried to update the drivers and firmware on your site and still did not work. Please some help.

    Arcticwolf, welcome to the forum.
Let's try another burner to see if that helps solve your problem.  I have used CDBurnerXP for years.  It has burned CD/DVD's when no other burner would work.
Please let us know if this solves your problem or not.

    Joey, welcome to the forum.
Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome?  Sometimes a glitch will occur during the original install.  This can cause the problem that you are experiencing.
Also, you may want to try Internet Explorer or Firefox to see if you receive the same error message.  This will tell you if it is a problem with Chrome or a system problem.

  • Unable to use Recovery Manager on HP Pavilion Elite HPE-112y PC Windows 7

    HP Pavilion Elite HPE-112y PC.
    Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium - 64-bit.
I'm having problems with my Recovery Manager. A few days ago it was working fine. The other day when I tried to access either the "Software Program Reinstallation" or the "Hardware Driver Reinstallation" to check something out, both my DVD and BD drives opened and a message popped up saying:
This system does not have a recovery partition. The recovery process needs to use the set of recovery discs you created previously. Please insert disc #1 now.
I did not create any such recovery discs. I don't know how this happened. When I looked at the "I'd like to take precautions" section of the Recovery Manager, the "Recovery Disc Creation" and the "Remove Recovery Partition" are grayed out, but the "View Recovery Report" is still active and there is some kind of report in it. I don't know what the report means.
I did ask for advice somewhere else and was asked to post a screenshot of my Disk Management from the Computer Management. After seeing the screenshot, I was told that my recovery partition is there and in good health and there is a possibility that something is preventing the recovery process from seeing it.
I'm asking around for advice before I try anything. I want to be very cautious before I do anything drastic.
Is there a chance that I can find my Recovery Partition and restore it? Or will I have to do a full System Recovery to get it restored?
    ===============
I'm not trying to make any changes yet, but I thought I would take a look at the System Recovery in the Recovery Manager. When I click the System Recovery button this is what I see.
Restore your computer to its original factory condition.
Your computer does not have a Recovery partition.
If you want to continue the restoration process, make sure you have inserted disc #1 and then click "Yes" to continue, or click "No" to exit.
Is this going to be a problem if I need to restore my system?

    Hi,
Even though the Recovery Manager software is unable to launch a system recovery, the f11 option may still work as it uses an entry in the BCD ( boot configuration data ) to launch via the f11 method at start-up.  Saying that, I would definitely recommend getting a set of Recovery discs in case it does launch correctly, just to be on the safe side.
    Regards,
    DP-K
