HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6000 keyboard

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6000 and the "O" key quit working, is there a replacement keyboard available?  And how hard are they to replace?

Easy peasy as laptop repair work goes. ebay cost maybe $15 shipped to U.S.. Which exact model and what language of keyboard and I can link you to a Manual and the part on eBay.

  • Blue Screen of Death at HP Pavilion Entertainment tx2500

I am indeed upset with the laptop (HP Pavilion Entertainment tx2500) I bought in April 2009. A few weeks after I had bought it, the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) started to appear. Since then the computer has been crashing, but not following a regular pattern. Sometimes it does not crash for days, even more than one week. Then suddenly in one only day it may crash several times.
I should be already used to it and save my work frequentley. But I am distractful person and often I forget to do so. I have lost many hours of work due to the BSOD, and I do not know to whom I should complain: HP? WIndows?
SO is Windows Vista, and I have heard from other people that they also had problems. I think that either HP or Windows should bring the opportunity to replace Windows Vista by Windows 7 to those that had problems with Vista.
I had another HP Pavilion (older model) and never had to come through such a nasty experience as having a BSOD episode after having been working for a few hours  without remembering to save the work done.

Many things can cause a blue screen event... hardware, software, a faulty driver, etc.  If this has been happening since only a few weeks after you purchased the system, it would have been prudent to have addressed the situation at that time as this is obviously a serious problem.
It is unlikely that your problems would be resolved simply by installing a different operating system.

HP Pavilion Entertainment won't start just shows blue screen. Sometimes says missing operating system after changing boot order. I have seen error message 303. This happened after I couldn't stop coolncheap popups so I saved everything to another computer and did a complete restore. When I was in the process of getting it back to working order I allowed updates recommended and optional and then everything started.

Also pressing F11 won't take me to recovery

HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC - Keyboard not working
My Windows 8 - 64 bit  laptop keyboard stopped working. I tried to uninstall and reinstall as explained in the support pages. but doesn't seem to work.  Is it dead?   what is the solution.  Please help
    Thank you

    Hi,
While this could be a hardware issue, it's always worth trying the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right click the entry 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and select Uninstall.
    Shutdown the notebook.
Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Note:  If the keyboard doesn't work when trying to access or navigate the Bios Menu, then this is probably a hardware fault.

  • Broken graphics card affecting motherboard of HP Pavilion Entertainment PC SD*MS/Pro*MMC*XD

    Hi guys,
I need help with this: my laptop broke two weeks ago. After having a technician look at it I was told the problem could easily be fixed my HP.
Basically he said my graphics card broke and it affected the motherboard, he said this was something easy to fix and that I could send it to HP to be fixed.
When I switch the lap top on, the screen is blank and it beeps 3 times. Apparently there's nothing else wrong with it except for this. Prior to this happening my screen went funny for about 2 weeks until it 'died' one day.
The operating system installed is Windows XP.
No changes made to the system before this incident.
Full product name: HP Pavilion Entertainment PC SD*MS/Pro*MMC*XD
Please let me know where I can send it to and if this is free-of-charge since it's a recurring problem with some HP notebooks.
    Thank you for your help.

  • How do I restore a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC?

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC Notebook. When I had first purchased it, it ran on Windows Vista and I upgraded it to Windows 7. I want to restore it to factory settings but I am having difficulty. I tapped Escape and then pressed F11 and have this several times and it did nothing after each option I selected. I have also tapped Escape and then pressed F9 and tried all the selections from there and that has failed too. I do not have any of the original CDs except the Windows 7 upgrade installation and I have tried that to unistall Windows 7 but it won't do that either. I have basically tried everything, ran out of ideas, and I need help.

    Hi:
You will have to order a set of recovery disks for your PC by reading the info at the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07143&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
If you can read all 25 characters of the vista product key on the bottom of your notebook, you can make your own vista installation dvd.
    Here' s how:
If you're up to a slight but rewarding challenge you can make your own if you can read your 25 character Vista product key on the PC.
Just download the 3 files you need at the link below, and read all of the instructions to create a bootable DVD installation disk using imageburn.
Disregard the part of the text under the first screen shot about "extract the files to the Vista folder."
The files were already extracted to that folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screen shot.
The other thing I noticed is on the 4th screen shot, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in myself, and then the other codes automatically populated.
When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message that about a WIM file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.
I selected No, make the ISO file.
It was not that hard to do. I burned both the 64 bit disk and the 32 bit disk in case I ever need them.
I tested both of them an my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, they worked perfectly.
When you enter the product key, it knows what version of Vista you have.
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3317.2-3-microsoft-windows-v....
After you successfully install Vista, you can then install the drivers from your PC's support and driver page.

  • Retrieve password for HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6700

I have forgotten the password for my HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6700. How can I retrieve the password or reset it?

    Hi,
Iff this is your Windows log-on password, try the following.
Using another PC, download the application on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.
    PC Login Now
When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder and double-click the installer - this will result in another file appearing which is the disc image ( .ISO ) that you need to burn to a blank CD.
You will now need to use an application such as ImgBurn to burn this ISO correctly to a blank CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.
When the disc has been created, shutdown the PC you can't log-in on, tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to access the Start-up Menu, insert the CD, select Boot Options ( usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and hit enter - you may also have to 'Press any key' to boot from the CD if asked.
Follow the instructions on the guide Here to remove the current password.

  • Cannot change boot sequence on a hp pavilion entertainment pc

cannot change boot sequence on a hp pavilion entertainment pc

Hey White_ Knight,  I'm sorry you're running into this issue. I need to know a little more about it, though, and what you've tried.  What are you trying to boot to? Have you tried changing it by pressing F9 at power on? F9 will bring up a simplified Boot Order Menu where you can select a device for a single time use only. It won't permanently change the boot order. You could also try going all the way into BIOS by pressing F10 at power on. Then arrow over to System Configuration and press Enter. Arrow down to Boot Options and press Enter. Arrow down to Boot Order and press Enter. Then user F5 or F6 to move the devices up or down in the order list.   If you've tried those things, does the menu show correctly? Is the device you're intending to boot from shown in the list? When you select it, do you get an error message of some sort?  Let me know a bit more, please and I'll be glad to help as much as I can

  • HP-Pavilion Entertainment PC DV9700 rebuilding

    I have a notebook HP-Pavilion Entertainment PC DV9700, - p / n --- FE695UA # ABA Service Tag DV9925 nr
    With Windows 7
He began presenting video failures to overheat, with an outdoor fan, the "cooling" and could keep running, then no longer lit more, take her to a local technician and made a repair that kept running for several months, then present total failure and has reignited, the technician tells me the video card that model came with a factory problem and it happened that, he responded with the warranty, my laptop while it is outside the warranty, I still want to fix it, if I have to pay for it, I'm in the Dominican Republic where temperatures are very high, that coupled with the failure origin motherboard, would ruin again, if you put the motherboard that originally brought the second solution is to replace the local technicians original MB AMD for one that fits and works most advanced INTEL brand.
1-Where I can get this motherboard?
2 - What is your reference  (INTEL)? is this HP-461068-001
3 - HP has some place where rebuildingthis Laptop, in Dominican Republic? ,
    3a-Where?
4-I have a small factory where I have several products mainly HP printers and multipurpose.
They have workshops in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for printers (multipurpose), HP Officejet Pro 8600?
    thanks

I think I understand most of your questions. The repair on this motherboard is called a "reflow" and I am assuming that is what your technician did before. He is correct that you cannot reliably do a second reflow on the same motherboard. Each additional one lasts shorter than the last. You need a new motherboard. There is a motherboard for the dv9700 series with an Intel processor and chipset. The one you refer to, the 461068-001 is an Intel processor with an nVidia video chip. Those still have issues. The one you want is 447984-001, which is an Intel processor, Intel graphics.
    Here it is on eBay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tested-and-Working-Hewlett-Packard-447984-001-Pavilion-DV9500-Motherboard-/2...
This model may need some case modifications to exactly fit in your chassis. It will not have the same graphics power as your old laptop. You will also need a processor and new heatsink.
By the time you get done with this project you will have invested enough to get a new laptop. Your call. If you want more help post back.

Since I don't see and add'l port I cant add anymore (or can I?)  What would happen if I replaced the 4GB with a 6 or 8 GB? Can my data be transferred over or would I lose it all?

    Hi:
Below is the link to the manuals page for your notebook.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01893242&lc=en&product=40432...
Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide states the maximum memory that can be installed in your model is 2 x 4 GB of PC2-6400 memory, for a total of 8GB.
Be prepared to pay around $100 dollars for a 4 GB PC2-6400 memory module.
There is conflicting information as well.
The product specs page states your model uses DDR3 memory, so before getting any kind of memory you will first need to confirm whether your notebook uses DDR2 memory or DDR3 memory.
DDR2 memory will not fit in a DDR3 memory slot and visa versa because they run on different voltages.
The product specs page also indicates that both memory slots are filled with 2 x 2 GB of memory.
