Hp pavilion g6-2231dx no speaker or headphones plugged in error

Since update to windows 8.1 the sound and audio has stopped working.  Voice recognition has stopped and the speaker on the bottom tray has an X.  The response on the X on the speakers indicates "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." When I plug in the headphones and USB speakers, but the problem is not resolved.  Downloaded the current audio software, which still does not resolve the issue.  Short of pulling the plastic off and checking for loose wires, is there a solution???

Hi:
it is probably the driver if the audio was working fine prior to installing W8.1
See if this W8.1 audio driver works...

  • Sounds still plays through speaker with headphones plugged in

I've recently been having problems with my sounds. I would plug headphones into one of headphone jacks on my HP dv6tse laptop and i would hear sounds through my headphones as well as my speakers. So basically I'm getting sounds from my headphones as well as my speakers at the same time when only my headphones should be getting the sound. Is this a hardware problem or some kind of settings problem? Please help!

    same issue, i have a hp pavilion dv6 6169sl

  • ANSWERED Pulseaudio doesn't recognize speaker until headphones plugged

Hi, first time poster here. Having this strange problem where, upon boot, my laptop can't play audio through the speakers until something is plugged into the headphones jack, and it then immediately recognizes the speakers. By default it always tries to play through the HDMI port; it there a way to change that? But that is secondary to actually figuring out what is going on here. I use pavucontrol to manage what is played where audiowise, and before plugging in headphones, the speakers are not listed anywhere in the program, but as soon as i plug something into the audio jack, speakers are found, and I can play through them immediately. This is very strange I think.
Everything is pretty much up to date on this system, and I'm running pulseaudio version 6.0 if that helps. Can add any information required.
Has anyone had this happen to them / know what is going on here? I would very much appreciate any help.
EDIT: nevermind, figured it out. Well, I edited the default.pa file and it fixed it, though I still don't understand why.

Well that is the problem, When I use pulseaudio (I just reinstalled it) It ignores the analog audio port completely and doesn't list it anywhere.

It's definitely not a hardware issue, The card is recognized and functioning when using alsa.

  • Dv7 "no speakers or headphones plugged in" error

i had upgraded from windows8 to 8.1 some months ago...but the sound still worked thereafter.
there have been further 8.1 updates that might have come into play.
my suspicion is some kind of a driver error/conflict.

anyone wanna help with this issue that only popped up IMMEDIATELY after my most recent HP update???

There is probably a red light on inside your headphone port, indicating that the analog/digital switch in there is stuck in the digital position. Insert a headphone plug and wigle it around, especially in the horizontal plane, as you insert and remove it several times. This will usually unstick the switch and restore normal operation. If it doesn't, the machine will need to be repaired.
This has been a fairly common problem, but in most cases it is easily cured as described above.

  • No sound from speaker or headphones

Speaker or headphones on my phone work fantastically until I make or answer a phone call. I Did a hard restore thru itunes, worked fine, went to sleep got up in the morning and its stopped working ... again.
I've cleaned out the headphone jack, yet the headphones work fine when listening to ipod and I can hear the clicks from typing in a passcode or typing an email or SMS. I've removed and reinstalled the sim card. I've done multiple hard restore/restarts with the sleep and home button pressed until the apple logo appears. I've inserted the headphones ten plus times on many occasions. I've also removed and reinstalled itunes more times than I can remember. The result is sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, when it does the phone rings, which I hear, I answer and neither I nor the caller can hear anything ... again.
Anyone have any clues or ideas? this is becoming a little tiresome.
    Everything else is still amazing.

Hi Anyone who might look at this chat,
Seems strange replying to myself, but hey.
Today for no apparent reason my phone started working again!
I had received calls early on, which again when I answered them, the same old familiar nothingness.
After 10 days or so of trying everything I can think of I was resigned to trekking up to the Apple store to vent my spleen, but before I set off I thought I'd just check there was an available slot at the genius bar. I was prompted to go through a series of questions checking the mute button etc. before I eventually had to put in my serial number.
It was acknowledged that my phone was registered but that I would have to pay for apple care, a one off payment or something else.
    I was now quite annoyed.
I went through the motions of how I would show the genius how my phone didn't work, and what do you know it worked!?!
The thing is I had done this many times before and it didn't work, so I have no idea what was different.
I turned on ipod, chose a song, it started to play, and whilst still playing I called my voicemail, so as not to annoy a friend if it didn't work, it worked. I called my girlfriend, it worked. I called my voicemail again it's still working.
I sincerely hope this helps some of you out there as I know how utterly infuriating it is to have your iPhone reduced to an iPod touch with no logical explanation.
I will post again if the problems resume, but fingers crossed.

  • Logic Pro X - How do I record my voice over existing tracks (via a mike and audio interface) without hearing those tracks on the speaker. I have headphones plugged into the interface but it doesn't stop in coming out of the speakers?

I'm new to Logic Pro X and can't work out how to record my voice over existing tracks without them playing over the speaker. I'm using a Sure mike through an audio interface and have headphones plugged into the interface?

Hi Kevin, what kind of audio interface do you have?

  • Audio playback through iPhone 4S speaker & attached headphones

    Hi!
I might have a problem and I definitely need help, please!
When I first got my iPhone 4S, I remember seeing an option... I was able to switch between the earphones and the speaker while listening to music (while headphones still attached, of course) and this was amazing since I listen to music all day but I don't want to keep attaching/removing the headphones over and over again. I remember playing with my iPhone and seeing an option to turn this amazing feature off (I did this while playing with multitasking), and I remember that I did change it to "earphones" or something, just out of curiosity, thinking that I could always change the settings to the way it was but now, I can't get it back!
I've read manuals, guides, reviews and I've only found information about this feature but no information about how to actually do it (again)
This has nothing to do with AirPlay, Bluetooth and/or Wireless speakers (nor Siri and Voice Control, I think)
So, I was able to switch between earphones and speakers while my earphones still attached but now that on-screen option is gone, I don't see that anymore. It was something similar to this, actually...

Well, I called the Apple support line and explained the whole thing but since I used the image as an example and I mentioned speakers, the guy helping me focused on wifi speakers and didn't really understand my problem; he thought it was something else.
Since then I've done some research and I've even reseted my iPhone twice but still not able to make it work again. I am not lying and I am not crazy (well, that's a different topic ) ... I remember seeing an image just like the one I linked on this post. This whole thing happened on a 64 GB iPhone 4S... no jailbreak or whatever, I don't even understand that thing so, yes, brand new, 100% original iPhone, untouched
Ok, so... I was listening to music, I had the headphones plugged in and I remember pressing a small square-like button, then 2 options showed on-screen; headphones and speaker, and I was able to select one and then go back to the other, switch between both headphones and the built-in speaker, while the headphones were still plugged in, of course.
The problem presented when I double clicked the home button (while multitasking) and then selected an option (right where the volume controls are located) and it was something like "always use headphone", "always use speaker" or something similar and then I selected headphones while I was playing music via the speaker and that was it, I haven't been able to "swap" since I changed that... so yes, I know it was possible because I've done it
Honestly, I am starting to think that my iPhone was not 100% configured or something and that's why I was able to do so.... and then pressed something by mistake which "corrected" that malfunction.
Anyway, thank you for the help Josephack, I appreciate it!

  • Speaker and headphones stop working on mac book pro?

Why does my speaker and headphones randomly stop working on my mac book pro? It wont work again until I restart my computer.

What model identifier is your MacBook Pro? To see this, hold the Option key and choose "System Information" from the Apple menu, and then click "Hardware" (this should be selected by defualt) followed by noting the Model Identifier which should be something like "MacBookPro6,2."
Does the system properly wake from sleep if you boot it to Safe Mode (hold the Shift key at startup to do this)?

  • On my iPhone 4 I can play music through the speaker or headphones, but I can not get audio in phone mode, I can't hear anything nor can anyone hear me! Help. Please.

On my iPhone 4 I can play music through the speaker or headphones, but I can not get audio in phone mode! I can hear anything through the ear piece or via a headphone. Nor can people hear me when I call. I must be doing something wrong, but what?

    Hello Angela,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with sound on your iPhone.  I recommend the following steps for an issue like this:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, followthese troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • I've updated my ipad to iso7 now the sound is distorted through the speaker and headphones, it is unusable! Is anyone else having this problem?

I've updated my ipad to iso7 now the sound is distorted through the speaker and headphones, it is unusable! I wouldn't dare to update my iphone. Is anyone else having this problem? Can't seem to find any fixes online?

    A reset should fix it:
Double click the Home button. Slide up with one finger on ALL your apps to close them.
Then, Press the Sleep/Wake button + Home button and hold 15 seconds or until you see the Apple logo.
This will reset your device without erasing data, apps or settings.

  • My new iPhone 4S has hearing problem.speaker and headphone works very good. However using handset to make and receive calls I cannot hear anything?I did restore the phone and removed the plastic. Is there any solution to this problem please?

I am having heraing problem with iPhone 4S.Speaker and headphone works well.No echo. When I use handset to receive or make calls,I can't hear anything?I restore the phone and removed the plastic as well.Is there anyway to fix this problem?

I personally haven't experienced much of the "reverberation/feedback" when using a headset on the i4S...
Yes, I have near-perfect hearing too (for scope, squeaky brakes hurt my ears) I come from many conversations on many phones and types and first off, CDMA technology is great for coverage, terrible for voice quality. HD Voice in Europe made for some of the best phone conversations I've ever had.
Back on track, feedback is most noticable (similar to the landline phone) when using the iPhone without a headset, but for me it's not an absolute criticality mainly because I use VoIP apps alot, so maybe it has desensitized me some over the past year.
But whenever I'm on a call, and the other person has me on speakerphone, I have alot of trouble talking because of the feedback loop caused. So the less of my voice I hear the better I can talk.
Have you tried a bluetooth headset yet?
