HP Pavilion g6-2235us onboard keyboard not completely working

HP Pavilion g6-2235us. The top row function keys work. The rest of keyboard does not. Scanned for virus's and worms. None found. Did a go back.and  Reloaded drivers. Did not help.
Keyboard works in bios setup. Reset by  pulling battery and pwr. Hold down pwr button for (:30).  Hit escape while booting to get into set up.  Loaded default, and exit out. Keyboard works for a few minutes to a few hours  before needing to plug in a usb KB. Tried to contact HP, but they will not talk to me because the warranty expired a few 2 months ago.  This unit was been troublesome from purchase with wierd behavior that  HP blamed on Windoz 8. Not sure about this issue. My next laptop will be a Sony due to lack of support from HP!!!

My Windows 8 - 64 bit  laptop keyboard stopped working. I tried to uninstall and reinstall as explained in the support pages. but doesn't seem to work.  Is it dead?   what is the solution.  Please help
    Thank you

    Hi,
While this could be a hardware issue, it's always worth trying the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand Keyboards, right click the entry 'Standard PS/2 Keyboard' and select Uninstall.
    Shutdown the notebook.
Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Note:  If the keyboard doesn't work when trying to access or navigate the Bios Menu, then this is probably a hardware fault.

  • Logitech Quickcam Vision MP for Mac not completely working

    Hi,
I got a Logitech Quickcam Vision Mp for Mac from an Apple store, but it's not completely working.
It works fine for iChat and Skype. However i doesn't work at all for iMovie, it says there is no camera atached, and it kind of works for Photo Booth. The problem is that I also have an EyeTv Hybrid, and
when it is connected, Photo Booth doesn't recognize my web cam at all. I get a black screen. If
the EyeTv Hybrid is not connected, then Photo Booth recognizes the web cam, but if I try to record
I only get video and no sound. Any suggestions? Is there a web cam that works for all the applications: iMovie, iChat, Photo Booth? If I got one of those old external iSight cameras that Apple doesn't sell anymore, would it work with my new intel Mac running Leopard?
Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi,
I just purchased and connected my camera, also from the Apple store, and it works just find with Photo Booth and iChat. As for the sound issue, make sure that you've selected the "Logitech Camera" selection from within the Sound option under System Preference. Click the Input button to make your selection. I hope this resolved your issue.
    Good luck!!!

  • Cloning tool causes keyboard not to work.

Every time I use the cloning stamp tool to edit a file, sometimes I hear a piano-like sound and my keyboard won't work.  I have a Mac running Yosemite but even before the upgrade it did that.  I'm using Creative Cloud but had CS4 and it did it with those too.  Is it a glitch?  Is anyone else having this issue?
Under tags there seems to be a 'cloning stamp bug' choice.  Then I'm not crazy!  So, what's the solution?

  • I can't log onto my MacBook air, onboard keyboard not responding

I have not been able to log onto my Macbook air 2010, the keyboard will not type the top row of letters.
    No liquid spills involved...
I have resored from time machine and still no joy.
I also cannot exit OSX recovery after validating he HD is ok
Thank you for any help you may offer!

Check that the shift keys are working - it's not uncommon for one to get stuck (happens with other keys, too).
Try teasing the key upwards with the corners of a couple of credit cards or similar flexible, non-conducting tools.

    You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the drive controller setting to AHCI but that really should not have mattered since your notebook has an Intel Series 7 chipset which when you install the latest Intel RST software for your model allows for TRIM support for SSD's.
So, make sure you have installed this driver and software, and then see this related post below that.
There should have been no degradation in the performance of your SSD.

  • Roll up to initiatives not (completely) working

    Hi everyone,
    The context
We're running a PS module on one system and a PPM module (CPRXRPM 500_702) on another.
In PS, we have a bunch of PS Projects with lots of WBS, Networks and Activities, on which there are costs.
In PPM, we have one Item per PS Project (they're properly linked in rpm_obj_link), and these Items are related to some Initiatives and some Buckets, everything being related to a single Portfolio.
    What we're trying to do
We're using /RPM/FICO_INT_PLANNING to roll up costs from the PS Projects into the PPM Items, Buckets and Initiatives. We're using option "Integr., Planning and Rollup" of that program.
All the configuration to enable this has been done and double-checked, as per the official documentation.
    The issue
While roll up on Buckets and Items are OK, roll up on Initiatives is not. When looking into NWBC's financial views, we have zeroes everywhere, instead of the sum of the related items.
We noticed that the corresponding entry in financial view table V_INM_INIT_DB is missing, despite the data in the related tables being complete. It's as if we just need that one entry to be created for the NWBC to work.
The only way we managed to make it work is by changing the financial period breakdown on the Initiative (from annual to something else, then back to annual). Then if we run the roll up again it works. However, we have a lot of Initiatives to handle and will have more in the future, so a manual fix is not a good enough solution. Besides, this works only when done via NWBC (see below).
What we already tried to solve it
    - we triple-checked the configuration of both systems, everything is fine
    - we installed notes 2023535, 1996720, 2007537, 2057988 and 1909853 in hopes it would fix the roll up program, it didn't help our issue
    - we used  /RPM/PLAN_INT_PREP on both Items and Initiatives in hopes it would generate the Initiatives' views, it made no difference
    - we tried defining the period breakdown on both the Item and the Initiative upon their creation (instead of letting the system set the default)
    - we reproduced the period breakdown trick in code by using INM_INITIATIVE_MODIFY, but it does not "unblock" the Initiative like it does in NWBC
    - we tried to find where and when the financial view is created, but V_INM_INIT_DB is not used anywhere in the system apparently!?
    - searching online for infos on both V_INM_INIT_DB and /RPM/FICO_INT_PLANNING did not bring much information
    My questions to you
    - anybody met a similar issue previously? How did you solve it?
    - any ideas on where to look or what to try next? We're kind of out of ideas here, and running short on time, as we'll start the user testing soon.
I'm currently trying to trace and debug what's happening in both the roll up program and NWBC, to see if I can understand what's wrong. But this is a lengthy process, especially considering I don't even know what to look for. So any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Kind regards,
    Jonathan

  • TS3038 Keyboard not fully working in Windows 8.1 Enterprise Installation

I installed Windows 8.1 Enterprise on iMac with Boot Camp v.5.1.  I have a wired apple keyboard that has a ten key pad.  The ten key works when I boot up in Mac OS Mavericks, but it does not work when I boot up in Windows.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hey Tung, If your connect an external keyboard are you able to type? I would first give it a good cleaning to make sure there is nothing interfering with it. A can of compressed air usually works wonders or a air compressor if you have one handy.  If this does not work try a hard reset:  Disconnect all external devices firstRemove AC powerRemove the batteryPress and hold power button for at least 20 seconds Reinstall your batteryPlug in the PowerTurn on the computerLet me know if this helps! Sean

  • CVS Patch Not Completely Working?

Before installing the CVS patch for version 9.0.2.829, every CVS file was marked as out-of-sync. After installing it, most files are marked correctly, but there are some files that are tagged out-of-sync even though right-clicking and selecting "View Status" says the file is Up-To-Date. Does this patch fix all CVS issues?
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew.
Could I ask you to perform a clean checkout, and let us know
whether you're still seeing the problem on certain files?
If so, perhaps you could tell us the modification timestamps
for a file which has a correct status icon, and one which
doesn't. We're still investigating a problem relating to
    daylight savings.
    Thanks,

  • Pavilion 15-b142dx Some Keyboard keys not working

A friend gave me their Pavilion 15-b142dx  sleekbook, apparently AFTER they spilled some type of liquid in it. I was able to revive the computer, however, there is still a problem with the keyboard.  When the keyboard is installed in the laptop, several of the keys do not work. However, when I take it out (and suspend it with some plastic) it works fine.  I have disconnected the ribbon cable, and taken some alcohol to clean up the area. I have also been able to run the HP diagnostics on bootup, both short and extended versions, and they come back ok.  Additionally, I connected an external keyboard and it worked fine. I have searched the forum for this type of question and didn't see it. Has anyone else had this problem, or am I looking at replacing the keyboard?
I currently am running windows 8.1. I do not get any error messages, but I did notice HP does not include a keyboard key test in its diagnostics.

    Hi there @MrKen99
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that some of your keys are not working, after some liquid decided to pay an unwanted visit to the board. I am happy to assist you with this.
In my sordid past I have seen some really messed up keyboards, due to similar things, coffee, cola, water, whatever. My most memorable was someone who brought me a computer that was used in a kitchen and was close to a deep fat fryer, and the keyboard was not only coated with oil and grease but a build up of fuzzy dust all throughout the keyboard. In that case I recommended a replacement as the cost to clean it was more expensive than a new one.
Anyway, it sounds as if you have already tried to clean it, but if you did not pop off the offending/non-working keys, the contacts could be "tacky". Make note of the keys that are having the problem and treat them individually. This document shows how to remove and replace keys from a standard notebook keyboard.
    Notebook Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows 8)
If you do not have any success doing that then, I would look at either replacing the keyboard, or using an external keyboard. If you choose a replacement you can look at the service manual for it, and it will list the supported parts.

  • HP Pavilion X2 detachable PC keyboard is not working

I just turned on my new X2 and the keyboard doesn't work. It's a detachable keyboard. I tried pressing esc several times when I restarted it and it still doesn't work. Any tips?

Hey  , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand the keyboard dock for your Pavilion x2 is not working. Let's see if this is a hardware or software related issue. While turning on the notebook with the base attached, immediately start tapping F2 after pressing the power button. This should open up the UEFI hardware diagnostics if the keyboard is detected. If this does not launch leave the notebook on without the adapter connected and let the battery fully drain. Once drained to the point where it will not turn on, charge the notebook to 100% and see if the issue persists. If it does, please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the following link to get the support number for your region: Phone Assist Worldwide. If the F2 diagnostics do launch the hardware should be alright. Shut down the notebook and repeat the process but tap F11 this time. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced > System Restore. Try restoring to an earlier point when the keyboard worked if a restore point is available. Thanks!

  • Replacing keyboard on Pavilion DV7-7012NR--Backlit or not?

I spilled water on my HP laptop and now the keyboard doesn't work. Everything else seems fine, and it works fine when a USB keyboard is connected.
So, I'm looking to replace the keyboard. I've had a hard time finding a good match, but...HP Part Surfer says my laptop has part #681981-001 or 698782-001, "Island style Keyboard Paint black backlit." I've found that item on ebay and elsewhere.
BUT, my original keyboard was not backlit. However, I'm pretty sure there is a connecter for the backlit ribbon. See photo (finger pointing to it).
    Any feedback?

Here are the original factory specs for your HP Pavilion dv7-7012nr Entertainment Notebook Computer. According to the specs, this model shipped from the factory with a "Full-size island-style backlit keyboard with numeric keypad" installed.
    From the HP Partsurfer;
681981-001  Keyboard ISK PT BL BLK US (ISK = island style keyboard, PT = paint, BL = backlit, BLK = black)
698782-001  Island style Keyboard Paint black backlit Win8 - US
    From the MSG for this model;
681981-001  Keyboard ISK PT BL BLK US (ISK = island style keyboard, PT = paint, BL = backlit, BLK = black)
Part # 681981-001 is the correct keyboard and this should match with the part number on the existing keyboard. This was the original keyboard shipped with Windows 7. The 698782-001 keyboard isn't listed in the MSG and most likely was shipped later, when Windows 8 was introduced.

  • HP Pavilion G6 - Keyboard Not Working

I am having a problem with the mothers laptop, it was working fine yesterday but when turned on today some of the keys have stopped working! Its the top row of letters, Q to P with the exception of T & Y and also the up and left arrows are not working, just wondering if anyone has experienced this in the past? I have removed the keyboard and cleaned it, made sure it was connected properly and it was. I have removed the battery, held down the power button for 30 seconds and then reinserted the battery. I have loaded the default settings in the BIOS. I have uninstalled the keyboard and the restarted the laptop. None of these have worked and I am now stumped! So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6-2044so Notebook and issues with the keyboard not working. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices including the USB keyboard, as they can cause issues. I hope this helps.
    Thanks.
