HP Pavilion g6-2320tx Notebook PC - Recovery

I purchased a HP Pavilion g6-2320tx Notebook PC two weeks back. I was not able to make a recovery discs. On closer look I was surprised to know that it had six primary partitions, including two recovery drives. While making recovery discs, it (Hard Disk) crashed. My Hard Disk is replaced within 15 days of purchase. Now I am waiting for Operating Softwares Disc from HP. I just wanted to know that can I get a Recovery Drive as we get it at the time of purchase (Factory Reset). Please help.

HP Pavilion g6-2320tx Notebook PC keypad do not work.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to see if this will launch the Start-up Menu - if it does, select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

  • HP Pavilion DM3 1039wm Notebook System Recovery Issue

HP Pavilion Dm3 currently running on Windows 7 Home Premium
About a month ago I purchased a recovery dvd from the website and a external usb cd drive. When I recieved the external usb drive in the mail and the disk I realized that I had purchased the wrong one so for days I went searching on the internet looking for an alternative way to put my netbook back to factory setting.I end up findig a solution and installed windows 7 using a downloaded iso file from the internet. After a few days the computer started acting up and so I decided to buy the right external usb dvd and cd drive.Once I got it in the mail I inserted disk 1 and it loaded up the factory image preperation so I started it and for severl hours it stayed on the same percent so I put the other disc in and made sure that my BIOS was set to run the cd drive and when I cut the computer on it says loading files and then a gray screen with constant commands keeps loading and then the computer restarts and it just keeps doing the same thing until the computer just shuts itself off.I have tried changing the BIOS back but that doesnt work either.PLEASE HELP ME

Try Cyberlink Utility cd. Download and Save the file. Once download is complete, put a blank cd in your drive and double click the file to create a boot cd. Boot with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicating hdd is ready. Remove the cd , insert first Recovery Disk and restart the laptop.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2101tu Notebook PC ,After BOIS update, Is HP Recovery Manager option available?

    Hi,
I have recently installed BIOS and other drivers update through HP support assistent for the first time. During the installation a drive partition has been created with the name "HP_TOOL drive:f ".
I need your guidance for the recovery of system in the future and want to know about such partition which has been created automatically during update.
Eariler i have once recovered my system using tool which was provided by HP RECOVERY MANAGER through "esc + f11" keys. Hp recommands that we should not make any partition of drive in order to recover your system. if we make partition, we may lose system recovery through HP RECOVERY MANAGER.
I had 2 partition (Drive :c and Drive :d)of the drive by default from the begining when i have purchase my notebook but Now I have 3 (Drive: c,d,f).
Drive; c has system file while Drive: d has recovery and Drive: f contains HP_tool files.
"Please note thatI have not manually created any aprtition of drive till now."
    My problems are as follows--
    1. Is drive: f is a real partition of drive ?
    2. Can i able to recover my system using my BIOS setting i.e esc + f11 key through HP RECOVERY MANAGER?
    3. If i recover my system using HP RECOVERY MANAGER in future, i will have to download BIOS and drivers update again or what?
4:  suggest me what should i do after BIOS update and with Drive:f to recover my system in the future?
My System details are as follows--
     HP Pavilion g6-2101tu Notebook PC,
    Product no. B6U26PA#ACJ
    RAM - 2GB
Hard disk drive - 500 GB
Opreating System - Windows 7- 64 Bit Home Basic
    Partition Drive :d - recovery.
Please give me a best response.,,,,,,,,,, Thanks

Yes, before Windows logo. At the first screen after powering on the machine tap Esc to bring up the Menu- same screen where you use Esc + F11 for Recovery.
Diagnostics is helpful many times in troubleshooting issues-such as testing memory or Hard drive.

    Hi:
The only graphics driver you should install for your model is the AMD graphics driver which will install both the AMD and Intel GPU's.
If you installed the Intel graphics driver from your PC's support and driver page, that could be preventing the correct AMD driver from installing.

    Hello @pac-man ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand after running a system recovery from the recovery media you are unable to boot the PC, and get a BOOTMGR missing error.
Take a look through this guide for BOOTMGR troubleshooting: How To Fix BOOTMGR is Missing Errors. The guide contains all of the steps to take and describes how to do each of them in a manner that any level user can understand.
If none of that works, you will need to obtain a copy of the Windows installation and run your installer. Once installed it will add a new BOOTMGR and allow you to re-run the recovery to restore your pre-installed software. The only other option would be to contact HP Phone Support for service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I have an HP Pavilion g7-1070us notebook computer. Recovery software included with the computer gav

I have an HP Pavilion g7-1070us notebook computer with Windows 7 as the operating system.  The computer is a year and a half old and has never had problems.  The recovery manager software included with the computer gave me an option to delete the recovery partition on the computer.  I used to recovery manager software to delete the recovery partition from the computerr.  Immediately after the recovery partition was deleted, all sorts of problems developed with the computer and Windows eventually crashed.  I have attempted to reinstall Windows with the recovery discs I created with the recovery manager software on the computer.  When I attempt to reinstall Windows with the recovery discs, I get the following error message screen.
"Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  To fix the problem:
    1) Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2) Choose your language settings and then click next.
    3) Click repair your computer.
If you do not have this disc contact your system administrator or manufacturer for assistance.
    Windows Boot Manager
    File:\Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc0000225
Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
I have no system administrator as this is a single home computer.  This computer is not connected to any computer network.  No hardware or software changes were made to this computer for months prior to this problem occuring.  No other indication of any other problems were observed prior to the use of the recovery manager software on the computer to delete the recovery partition.  I sincerely regret using the recovery manager software to delete the recovery partition from my computer now.

    Hi,
Assuming this is just a problem with the recovery media, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the exact same version that originally came with your notebook - if your not certain, your notebook is listed as coming with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

    Hi @irishwomderful
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are getting no sound at all from your new notebook, either from the speakers or using headphones. I am happy to assist.
Were you getting any sound at all when you first powered on the notebook, or was there never any sound?
If you did get some sound originally, then it is possible that something was installed or changed while installing other applications, that affected the sound. If so, then you can try either a system restore, to a point before the problem began, or a system recovery to the factory defaults. Before choosing the recovery option, be sure to back up any important data to an external source.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 8)
If neither of those help, then as it is new, I would recommend giving a call to our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • HP Pavilion dv6500 Entertainment Notebook PC series Operating system not found

Hello to all how are you doing guys doing today I'm having a problem and need the help from the tech world. So i have a Hp Pavilion dv6500 cto notebook. I started it up and got a black screen stating "Operating System Not Found". I couldnt get into safe mode to recover back to a safe point, i was able to get into the bios system to do a memory and Hard drive test, my memory test came back as a Pass but my Hard drive came back as a fail and stated "Replace Hard Drive".
Now i went out bought a new WD 500GB 5400rpm hard drive for the laptop, i installed it and did a Hard Drive test to make sure it was good and the test came back as a Pass.  Now i had this laptop for years since 2007 and it broke just a few months ago, i just got the new hard drive yestarday and was playing doctor last night. When i got the laptop as a gift i was only given a recovery disk which did boot up and gave me the install now option and repair computer option. I chose the install now option and it was starting to install but then got this error message "Windows cannot open the required file D:\Sources\Install.wim. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002." I read that you cant install windows from a recovery disk so now im back to square one.
So current status is I got a new hard drive that pass the bios test, memory test was a pass. I have no windows disk other then the windows vista recovery disk i tried but failed to install windows. I also tried a windows 7 disk from work but the disk wouldnt boot up came back with a message stating that disk couldnt be read there may be problem with the cd dvd drive or hard drive, but when i put in the windows vista recovery disk that boot up no problem. i just cant install window with it. So Im stuck with a black screen stating no operating system is not found. Note that i havent change the boot up line up back to hard drive to see if it would boot up the new hard drive but i dought it would change anything since its a brand new hard drive with nothing on it.
If someone could help me with step by step like how to get an operating system on my new hard drive. My wife has a laptop but with no cd drive so i would need instruction to boot get it on the usb. Hope i was helpful with my problem.

You have only tried questionable disks. You could order a recovery disk from HP but I am not even sure they still have Vista recovery disks. You could also buy a Windows 7 OEM disk and try that. it will cost you a bit but will be legal. What version of Vista is it? You can also try to find a Vista install disk and use the Key Code on the bottom of the laptop if it is still legible. Here is a link to downloadable .iso files you can use to make a Vista install disk that will activate with your Key Code:

  • Creation of Recovry Media is incomplete, Please HELP! (HP Pavilion g6 -210tu Notebook)

    Hi,
My problem is that during creation of recovery media, i have successfully created 1st and 2nd DVD-R but Hp Recovery Creation Media fails to create 3rd DVD and consequently it is unable to create 4th and 5th DVD for recovery.
During creation of 3rd DVD-R, Hp Recovery Creation Media successfully reads blank DVD and prepares files to be burn but it fails to burn these files on 3rd DVD.
Further, DVD autometically is ejected with massage "We are experiencing errors in Recovery Media Creation. please try again."
Please Help me! how to fix this problem.
I have also tried the following as per guidlines on HP support Website--
    1. disabled User Control Account.
    2. temporary disabled my antivirus.
    3. i have manually run chkdisk for Partition drive D which is my recovery drive.
    4. i have also change and tried different DVD to burn but i faced same issue.
Please note that I have never modified or encrypted my partition drive of recovery but i have recently Updated BIOS and Drivers form HP.
My system details are as follows--
OS- windows 7 home basic (64 bits)
MODEL- HP Pavilion g6 -210tu Notebook PC
    PRODUCT NO.- B6U26PA#ACJ
    Processor- Intel i3 CPU@ 2.40GHZ,
    RAM - 2 GB
    SMBIOS Version      2.7
    BIOS Version   - /Date Insyde F.25, 29-05-2013
    Boot Device      -\Device\HarddiskVolume1
Please help me and let me know what should i do to create subsequent DVD.

    Hi,
Once again thank you for your valuable feedback and support!
The product name and model no. i have mentioned in the post are correct. i have also try to locate them behind battery of my notebook. If you think it may be wrong, you can check for this model no. on HP support website here
I have also tried esc+ F2 and run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics but i did not find option "Component Test" and therefore unable to locate optical drive option.
I have understood your statement regarding benefit of USB tumbdrive over DVDs and much appreciated.
    thanks you for that.
I personally want to say that i was unaware about the fact for these non branded DVDs. The shopkeeper (notebook showroom) told me that these DVDs are good to create Recovery Images because they also use these DVDs to create Recovery Images.
I have purchased non branded DVDs but it does not mean i wanted cheapest solution for Recovery. simply i wanted to Recover my system using best DVDs.
Well, now let me know how can i undo the creation of media which i have created in those two DVDs successfully in order to create Recovery Images on USB Thumbdrive ?
How can i locate Opticle Drive Test?
I am waiting for you response.......

  • My HP Pavilion zv6000 will not boot/recovery

My HP Pavilion zv6000 will not boot/recovery need help

Disconnect the AC Adapter and Battery from the unit. Hold the Power button down for about 15 seconds. Then without the battery being connected, plug in only the AC Adapter on the unit and check if this powers on the unit. You can also try to reseat the RAM on the unit. You can find the removal procedures on the Service and Maintance guide on www.hp.com for your model notebook. In case the notebook does not work after these steps, it could possibly be a hardware issue on the unit.

  • What kind of hard drive do I need for my HP Pavilion dx6650us entertainment notebook PC?

I have a HP Pavilion dx6650us entertainment notebook PC that has the BSOD. Even when I run it in SafeMode I have absolutly NO desktop. I've tried EVERYTHING. I have lost hope. So im just going to buy a new hard drive. Does anybody have ANY idea what type of hard drive I need and aprox. how much it might cost? Please let me know(: Thank you.

It is a standard laptop 2.5 inch wide SATA hard drive like shown in this picture:
Look at Page 9 of this Manual:
    Drive Manual
This will show how to replace it. Do you have the recovery disks that you could have made when the laptop was new? If not you are going to have to get a Windows disk or some HP recovery disks.
Here is a drive that would work for you.
    160 gig 7200 rpm drive for $45
This drive will be faster than what you had and is a bit larger. A very good deal for the price. You perhaps already have a second hard drive in the system. See the manual on page 9 for the location of both hard drive bays. You could move the secondary drive (if there is one) over into the primary position without spending a nickel. In fact, that is a great idea. If you do that and still get the BSOD, then it might well be something else going on other than the hard drive. The hard drive is a likely issue but it could also be the memory and other things, too. However, I think the second drive is only found in the dx9000 models so do not be shocked if you do not have a secondary hard drive bay in your machine. I have never seen a dx6000 series but am pretty sure it is a lot like the dv6000 series of which I have seen more than my share. They have a lot of issues and I am concerned you will be spending money on a new hard drive that will not fix anything.
Feel free to post back with issues or questions.

    Hello IgorChornyak,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you are looking for an AMD driver supported for Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, this computer has no Windows 8.1 drivers, supported by HP: HP Pavilion g6-1262er Notebook PC Drivers
I would recommend returning the computer to Windows 7 or 8 to get a fully functional AMD driver.

Open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update, select 'View update history' in the left hand pane and then select 'Installed updates' link in the following window.
Locate update KB2962407, right click it and select Uninstall.  When done, restart the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Windows Update and select 'Check for updates'.  You'll see the update you just uninstalled being offered again - right click and select 'Hide Update'.
