HP Pavilion g6 notebook complete crash, no power, nothing working.

I have a 1yr old HP Pavilion g6-1a46ca notebook running Win7 Home Premium. Apparently it was doing a bios update and crashed during the update. Now there is nothing. no power, no battery charge, no light even when power adapter plugged in. power adapter is fine, tested it with another system. worst thing is the system crashed on a Saturday night, warranty expired on the monday morning at 12:01am and HP refuses to do anything.
From anything I've read it seems like I'm outta luck?

If you're loceated within the USA, contact a 3rd party BIOS repair facility like AQSTECH.com I believe they charge $99 for the repair.

  • I have a HP pavilion dv2117tx notebook and my display isn't working.

    Hi
I have a HP dv2117tx notebook and my display isn't working. The computer swithes on fine but the display isn't working at all. The display started experiencing problems a few months ago with intermitent lines on the screen. The frequency of the lines increased in the last month and now, the display isn't showing anything.
I would really appreciate any useful advice. Thank You

    Hey @abhijeet_gdr ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your display has stopped working on your dv2 notebook.
First we should figure out if the issue is with the display or the GPU. Connecting a VGA display would be the ideal way to do this. If the VGA display works, the notebook screen is the problem. If the VGA display doesn't work chances are the GPU has failed which means a motherboard replacement.
If the VGA display works you could try reconnecting the display and inverter cables. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the service guide to give you the exact steps to do this. This could be due to the age of the product or that a service guide was not issued.
You can try contacting HP Phone Support for service but the age of the notebook will have an effect on the available replacement parts. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here. Your best bet might be to take the notebook to a local shop who should have the ability to diagnose the display and give you a quote for repair.
    Hopefully this helps.

  • HP Palion dv7 Notebook PC will not power up when power button is pressed.

My HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC will not  power on when the power button is pressed. I have removed the battery, unplugged the AC adapter and pressed the power button for 15+ seconds then plugged in the AC adapter and pressed the power button for 15+ seconds. Then I release the power button and then press the power button again and the Notebook will power up and operate normally. I can reinstall the battery once it has powered up. What is causing this problem and how do I remedy the problem?

    Hello Griff83147,
Unfortunately there could be a number of different things that caused that issue from drivers, software, possibly hardware. I am glad you got it up and running but there isn’t a clear picture of what actually caused. If a technician got the chance to work on it then they could at least narrow it down.
Sorry I could not answer your question, but this is one of those questions that can have multiple answers.
If you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask.

  • Steps for removing KB for pavilion 15 notebook

Last night I spilled a glass of sugar free soda onto my keyboard on a Pavilion 15 notebook.  The upper keys are working but that is all.  The keys themselves are loose, none of them are sticky at all.  The keyboard is dry, yet still doesn't work. I am not sure if I have to remove the keyboard or whether there is a circuit board that shorted out.
I need instructions as to how to remove the keyboard so I can check for any shorted circuit cards, if one exists.
    Any help would be appreciated.

When I check the product number, it tells me you have HP Pavilion 15-n066us notebook.
When i search for the service manual it takes me to this one: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03883388.pdf
Keyboard removal instructions start on the page 57.
There is only one screw securing the keyboard on the bottom of the laptop.
    Hope it helps.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC unable to boot recovery disk

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC unable to boot recovery disk.  First when I power on my notebook it goes straight to the launch recovery or launch Windows normally screen.  When I choose start windows normally, it goes to the window screen and freeze.  When I try to launch the start-up with windows 7 start-up disk, the computer will not load the files.  When I tried to complete a hard drive test, it failed with a failure ID 9UXNXA-55E65V-XD003G-60XR03.
I'm looking for a solution, can someone help?

    Hi:
It sounds like you need to purchase a new hard drive for your notebook, and reinstall the operating system with your recovery disks.
When a HDD fails a diagnostic test, it normally means it is done for.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: restore system and drivers

Hi. Some days ago I faced a bad experience with my laptop HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. System crashed. At anytime I tried to switch it on, a message error appeared and system was blocked. Message was: FILE:\BOOT\BCD Status 0xc000000f, asking for running the Windows 7 System disk. But System disk didn't run at all. I checked situation and found the hard disk with 6 partitions instead of 2. I found a partition named BOOT (X that was a replica of C:.  When I tried to restore the system by the recovery disk, something got control of the recovery disk, so that C: could not be formatted; neither X: was. Also, I tried to cancel files in X: but disk was protected and didn't allow any changes. So I could only get my hard disk uninstalled and all the partitions were cleaned off. I got my hard disk perfectly cleaned, but my recovery disk could not be installed properly. Therefore, system was not restored yet. My question is: what should I do to get my laptop with restored system? any ideas?
    This question was solved.

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and/or post it here for our review.
Depending on the age on your computer, it may have come from the factory with 5 or more partitons. This is common on newer computers that utilize UEFI and GPT partitions. The "Windows 7 System disk", the computer wass asking for is either a Windows 7 installation disc or a Windows 7 Repair Disc. Neither of these discs come with your HP computer and must be downloaded and/or created in Windows.
Start by using your HP Recovery Disc set (should be 3 or more DVDs). Insert disc #1 and reboot your computer to start the process. Insert the remaining discs as requested, until the recovery is finished.
If this doesn't work and you can read the 25-digit Microsoft Windows 7 product key on th Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download Windows 7 SP1, create the Windows installation DVD, and install Windows 7.  If you prefer to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive, please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash Drive. After installing Windows using this method , you will no longer have any HP customizations or software. You will also need to identify and download drivers for hardware devices that Windows 7 didn't already supply drivers for.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook starting with Blank White Screen--Help??

I've had an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook for a couple years now. Today I go to start it up (without the power cord plugged in), and a completely white screen appears. I'm thinking, maybe it's still starting up/working some kinks out. Then I hear the Windows 7 twinkling start up sound that usually happens when you get to your log in screen. So it seems the computer itself is working, but there is zero display on the screen. If anyone has any good advice/experience with this/knows how I can fix it or what I should do, PLEASE let me know! Computer problems are so distressing

I had this problem with my father's pavillion.
There was a broken pin in the screen socket on the motherboard so I guess it was always making poor contact until one day this pin must have broken off completely and the screen would only display completely white.
I inserted a fine solid wire (not multi-strand) into the plug at the right point so that it only just stuck out enough to make contact with what was left of the pin in the socket, whilst being fully inserted into the plug.
I then taped the plug/socket together to make sure it didn't loose contact by coming loose.
Seems to have solve the problem in the short term (but the socket should need replacing for a long-term fix).

  • HP Pavilion x2 10inch windows crashed (recovery not work and make windows crashed)

I'm just used this HP Pavilion x2 10 inch tablet only 4 DAYS then came out this problem. Now its windows crashed even i've done the recovery. I can't reinstall windows 8.1 pro on it due to can't boot from usb drive even though i've change the UEFI setting and disable the secure boot. This tablet really waste my time and money. Totally disappointed on this product.

    Hey @XavierZK ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing issues with your Pavilion x2 notebook.
If your tablet does not start and you cannot run a recovery service is needed. The age of the product should be factored into the type of warranty service you are offered.  Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • N82 Completely Crash, Please HELP!!

    Hi everyone,
My N82 is completely crash and I do not know how to fix.
I never dropped this phone and never used messily. Because I love this phone since I got it.
I tried all possibility to fix.
To take out SIM and SD. To reinstall the firmware.
I guess it started after I installed new firmware v20.
    Here are my problem
    1. while calling, the phone suddenly freeze and cut a communication. It also happens many times when I hang up the phone call. After a moment it turns off.
    2. When I turn on the phone, it just show black screen and keep turn on a backlight.
3.When I remove the SD, sometimes it turns on correctly but few hours later, it shows black screen and backlight.
4.When I charge the phone, it also shows black screen and backlight.
I hope this is software problem because I am using it in Japan and Japanese customer center doesn't support this model.
    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

Try a hard reset, but backup everything you want to keep. Also remove the memory card before you do it and try it without the card to see if it works. If it does work you may need to format the memory card to avoid any slowdown.
    Hard reset:
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
    3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
    4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.

  • Lost all sound on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook

I have a HP Pavillion dv6 notebook with a Widows 7 operating system and have lost all sound. Any suggestions as this is a 6 month old notebook?

I had the same issue last night after an automatic BIOS update.  I read about 7 pages of posts that seem to deal with the same issue and found a combination of actions that seem to have restored my audio functions completely.  I posted the solution and it resolved the issue for at least one other user who commented back.  It it works for you, please also post that it worked for you.  I suspect there are alot of users out there that have or will be experiencing the same issue.  It would be nice if HP would post the appropriate solution, it seems to have been going on for awhile.
    1. Through 'Device Manager / Sound, video and game controller' I uninstalled my audio driver (IDT High Definition CODEC) and also deleted the driver software for the device.
    2. Through 'Programs and Features' I uninstalled the IDT Audio Software (vers 1.0.6418.0) that was installed with the BIOS update.
    --> This forced a reboot.
--> When my system rebooted it automatically searched and found the appropriate audio driver -- now I've got audio and Media Center works fine...
    Hope this helps you.

  • HP Pavilion dv9825nr Notebook PC not working

    Hi..Please help!!!!!!!!!
I have an HP Pavilion dv9825nr Notebook PC, with Windows Vista,  in dire need of help.  My computer stopped working a couple of days ago.  I keep getting an error message on blue screen that says a problem has been detected and Windows have been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the 1st time that you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.  If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.  If this is a new installation ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Start Up options, and then select safe mode.
Btw, my battery went dead so I replaced it an new one by a company named Anker.  It's a 14.4V. It's identical to the one that HP provided so I thought.  At any rate, I just inserted the new battery after one day in my computer and the next day I received the message above.
Can someone please help me fix my computer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Karen
