Error entering administrator name & password to make System Prefs changes

I have been running Leopard with just fine but encountered this new problem today. I wanted to create a "Guest" account, but when I clicked on the lock in the System Preferences: Users screen to add that option, I typde in my administrator name & password and got this error:
"Sorry, you entered an invalid username or password. Please try again."
It accepts my password when logging in, for keychain access, etc... But I'm not able to unlock & make changes with the same username & password. I tried logging in to make the changes in System Preferences under another user who is also an admin, but I got the same error message using that user's name & password.
This is a new problem for me. I unlocked & added a user account for my kids with no problems just last week and haven't made any changes to my password or account name since then.
Any thoughts on how to fix this issue? Thanks in advance!

I'm having a similar problem, since the 10.5.1 upgrade (I downloaded the 110MB version, as Apple readily admits that there are problems when using Software Update for upgrades).
I ran Disk Utility to repair permissions on my boot drive, and it prompted me for my administrator password (something that I've only had to do since the upgrade to 10.5). This time, the user name was blank (usually it fills in the user name with the account name I'm logged in under). I entered the information, and got the error. Double checked everything, and still no luck. After a third attempt, I was told I had to wait a while before trying again.
I'm hoping there's some simple fix or something I can easily to type in. I don't want to wait a few more weeks for Apple to release another patch, and I don't want to have to step back to an even more unstable version so I can use Disk Utility.

When I've turned it on, it comes up with the bios screen message "Enter Administrator or Power on Password".
I tried a few incorrect attempts and after the third attempt, a message "System disabled - Key 75858185" has appeared.

Dnt remmeber Bios administrative password

                                       I am using HP ProBook 4510s with Bios Type (Compaq) Bios ID (68pzi Ver f.18) i dnt remmeber my Bios administrative password until when i try to update my bios. Is there any way to recover my administrative password or reset my Bios. Please give your valuable suggestion for this custmor. There is no service centre for Hp near to where i live and I dnt like to give my valuable laptop to other tech's. Hoping for the best and needful answer from Hp.

Turn on before it goes through the expected booting I got message "Enter Administrative Passworl or Power On Password". I do not have the password. guessed 3 times. Pavilion dm4 Asking for an administrator account and its password. What can I do? I

It keeps asking for an administrator account. It needs a password as well! It won't let me go beyond that screen and if I press cancel it will shut the computer. I cannot access my home screen!

Try entering a wrong password- or simply leaving it blank- and tap Enter key. After 3 times it should give you a disabled code. Post the code.

Audio output low using stereo mix under recording HP Pavilion Dv6 Win Prof Prod# A3E82AV

HP Pavilion Dv6 Win Prof Prod# A3E82AV with High Def Audio Codec
When I bought this I asked if it had "What you hear" under recording and was told it had "Stereo Mix" instead and it would do the same. I accepted that as my Gateway has this as well and it works great. However, using the same settings as for the Gateway and using either Audacity (Latest Version) or DAK7 Wav Editor it's like I can't get the recording signal high enough. Sound barely register on the wave chart with the recording level as high as I can get it both in the programs as well as under the Stereo Mix Property. Playing back what I record require the volume to be at max and the quality is very bad. Am I missing something?

I have had the same problem ever since I bought my laptop with "beats audio". In my former PC this worked perfectly with Realtek HD Audio. Someone please help!
