HP Pavilion "Invalid Password" During Login

So at the login screen of my computer, I'm certain that I'm typing in the correct password, yet it says "This password is invalid" and it's driving me CRAZY. Prior to this, I updated my computer to Windows 8.1, then restarted it, and it was right after that, that this occured. I tried clicking on "Reset Password" and it says to insert a USB, which I did, it then goes on to mention a password reset disk, which I don't have.
I was able to hit F11 during a reset and perform another system restore, which then informed me that "The System Restore could not be completed". When I attempt to hit F11 again, nothing happens. Also I don't have a CD drive, so I'm not sure what the next step should be...
I'm writing this from a different computer, as I can't access anything on the computer with this problem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hello chris_ess_416, welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an issue with an invalid logon password for Windows. I will try to assist you with this.
You've already started down the  only path available for this and unfortunately will need to obtain some recovery media.
This document will show the methods of how you may do so:
    Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive.
I hope this is able to help you out.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Invalid password during xi-installation

    Hi,
    it appears an error like unvalid password. the password you specified for user <sid>adm is wrong.
    I've checked: The password of the installation and the password of the windows user <sid>adm are similar.
    Can anybody help me, please.
    Thanks
    Stefan

    Hi,
    have a look at OSS message 721548.
    it explains how to change pwd in XI.
    Possibly you will find a solution when going through the procedure.
    here it is:
    Symptom
    You want to change the passwords of the XI service users in XI 3.0.
    Reason and Prerequisites
    The XI service users that are created during the installation of XI 3.0 are subsequently created in the R/3 system and added to the exchange profile with the passwords that were set during the installation. The users are maintained in various links and transactions during the Post Installation Steps.
    If you want to change the passwords, you have to change them everywhere in a consistent way.
    Solution
    You must change the passwords at the following locations:
    1. Transaction SU01 in the R/3 system:
                   You must change the passwords for the R/3 ABAP.
    1. Exchange profile - server settings:
                  Call the XI exchange profile using:
                  http://<xi host>:<j2ee port> /exchangeProfile
                   Select the 'Connection' link and adjust the password for the XILDUSER user.
    1. Exchange profile:
                  You must now change the passwords in all parameters of the exchange profile to declare them to the Java applications.
                   To do this, start the Exchange Profile as described in section 2, and adjust the changed passwords.
    1. SLDAPICUST
                   In transaction SLDAPICUST, adjust the password for the XIAPPLUSER user.
    1. Transaction SM59, INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI destination:
                   In transaction SM59, adjust the password for the XIISUSER user in the HTTP INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI destination.
    1. SLD bridge in the J2EE Administrator Tool:
                  Log on to the J2EE Administrator Tool. Under "Cluster --> Server --> Services --> SLD data supplier", change the password for the relevant user.
    1. PMI Store destination in the J2EE Administrator Tool:
                  Log on to the J2EE Administrator Tool. Under "Cluster --> Server --> Services --> Destinations", change the password for the XIRWBUSER user in the HTTP pmistore destination.
    1. Adapter Framework Messaging Fallback User
                  Log on to the J2EE Administrator Tool. Using Cluster --> Server --> Services --> Adapter Framework Messaging, change the password for the corresponding users in the following parameters:
    messaging.isconfig.password
    for the user in messaging.isconfig.username
    messaging.system.eventHandler.XI.isconfig.password
    for the user in messaging.system.eventHandler.XI.isconfig.username
                  These parameters no longer exist as of Support Package 04. In this case, you do not need to make any changes at this point.
    1. SM59 connections for end-to-end monitoring
                  In SM59, adjust the user password in all connections that start with PMI*. You must adapt the connections under 'R3 connections' and 'HTTP connections for external server'.
                  In addition, adapt the passwords in the systems to those that indicate the SM59 connection, if this is not the XI itself.
    1. SM59 connections for GRMG monitoring
                   In SM59, change the user password in all connections that start with XI_GRMG*. You must adapt the connections under 'HTTP connections to R/3 systems' and under 'HTTP connections to external server'.
                  In addition, adapt the passwords in the systems to those that indicate the SM59 connection, if this is not the XI itself.
    1. Restart the J2EE engine.
    2. Links with sending business systems:
                   In addition, you must check in all sending systems whether you are using one of the service users (for example, XIAPPLUSER) to log on to the XI system and change the passwords in the relevant systems.
                   For this purpose, check the relevant SM59 destinations and logon data in the sending adapters.
    You should also refer to the Post Installation Steps described in the XI 3.0 Installation Guide.
    Checking the service links
    After you have changed the passwords, perform the checks that are described in the Installation Guide under Post Installation Activities:
    a) Checking the installation - Part 1
    b) Checking the installation - Part 2
    c) Testing the Cache Refresh
    regards

  • Pavilion G password invalid

    HP Pavilion 23 g010 running Windows 8.1, originally 8.
    Took out of box and first turned on the first week of Feb 2015 (One month ago).
    Have been updating and getting familiar with the machine during the last month.
    One Local account with admin capabilities, no other users. User is set to userid and password not required.
    Everything going ok until last week, when I attempted to turn on the machine it asked for a password kept getting invalid please try again. After about 10 to 12 repeated attempts the little circle of dots would go around with the word welcome for a few seconds until once again going back to invalid password.. I looked on the internet and found that this was reported to Microsoft in 2012. So I called them. After being in the Que (started at 86) for 5 hours finally worked with someone who needed to prove to herself that I could turn the blessed thing on and off. Anyway, she couldn't help me and suggested I contact the manufacture. I asked her if she really meant for me to call HP to fix a Microsoft problem. Don't think she was happy with me.
    Anyway, here we are in the HP forum. So I got a few ideas and went to the beast. Low and behold, F11 during a restart from power off was not recognized or did not do as advertised.  Machine will not go beyond asking for the password.  I have been able to Shift/Restart and get to troubleshooting, etc but every where I go is Microsoft and asks for a password.  Have been unable to get anywhere that even remotely a HP system reset or recovery.  Talk about security.
    WHAT NOW?????    Where do I send this????

  • "invalid password "on Iweb Test. and on SEO Tool, Login Failed Login Authentication Failed, ALL SETTING ARE CORRECT HELP

    I have been updating my site over the last week, using Iweb SEO TOOL, but suddenly 2 days ago I can no longer update when i go to publish it says "invalid password "on Iweb Test. and on SEO Tool, Login Failed Login Authentication Failed, the password and all settings are correct.
    I am 100% sure the all the setting are correct, as it has been working for the last 7 months and I have just been updating it, then suddenly it stopped, I have all the FTP settings wrote down, and even changed the passwords twice hoping that may work to no avail.

    Try the following:
    delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
    go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    Click to view full size
    launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue with:
    move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
    launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
    go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
    move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • PI2.1:invalid cli credentials for password only login devices

    Hi,
    We've got in trouble with a LMS to PI Migration maybe because the target devices are configured for Telnet
    with a password only Login in place of the the common username Password Login Dialog in this Network.
    LMS seams to can handle a Password only Login CLI Dialog with all of the devices but Prime Infrastructure claims "invalid cli credentials" for most devices but it seams to work with a lower part of the devices.
    What can we do that PI can handle CLI login with Password only Dialog for all devices? Customer dont want to reconfiger the Network devices for username Password Login.
    Steffen

    Hi Afroy,
    Thx for your reply. Its not a question of wrong credentials. I tested exevry thing from ade+ commandline. I used a converted csv-export from LMS (where all devices was working). The problem is PI only related:
    all devices in question are:
    - SNMP reachable, because green check mark in device work center, but name and type is empty despite SNMP discovered infos and OID + name is written into the discovery=>reachable log if I try to discover this devices
    - unmanaged, because claiming "wrong cli credential"
    - ifm_inventory.log has some following dissent for all this devices:
    postCollection() ... Cache status: false.
    Error logging - Device <ip> Updated Successfully
    delete and re-add this devices brings no improvement.

  • "Login keychain" password - invalid password. All messed up thanks.

    I think Leopard, or the most recent QT upgrade has really messed with my system:
    I restart and using my login password I've used for years:
    "ichat agent wants to use "login keychain"" - invalid password
    "Mail wants to use "login keychain"" - invalid password
    "PubSubAgent wants to use "login keychain"" - invalid password- and I can't cancel out of that one.
    System preferences wants to use "login keychain"" - invalid password. Then after a minute "keychain error. There was a problem saving to your keychain. Please try again or use keychain access to verify your keychain. Error -128
    Go to keychain access- Unlock my user keychain then spinning beach balls. Force quit etc
    (Can't login to iDisk iTunes or anything now...)
    Really unhappy now.

    I also have similar issues. And followed the advise below.
    1. Insert the Leopard install disk, restart holding the "C" key down
    2. Choose your language so you go to the first page view of install
    3. You can reset passwords in the menu above
    4. Select root and reset your password to what you like
    5. Quit and restart
    6. Choose "Other" as a login
    7. Choose system preferences
    8. Select users that you have registered on the computer
    9. Select option that users can be administrators
    10. Restart and login as the user of your choice.
    I did this and was able to login using the "other" account and changed the sys admin password. Gave my user admin priviledges.
    But now, I have a circular problem. I can't remove "invalid certificates" from my keychain access app.
    Help!!

  • Invalid Password even though it's valid

    Hi,
    Everybody, I've recently deployed an application in Websphere and HTTPServer and have Oracle on the DB back-end. I've followed deployment instructions and assigned libraries to ear and war files of an application, my EJB's seems to be targeted right path and JDBC connection Tests sucessfully. Before deploying application for Websphere I've configured my config files and xml files to meet right path, and then installed an instance from ear file which got uploaded to Websphere. My question is I'm getting to the login page from HTTPServer and unable to login with existing user in a DB for an application it throws me an "INVALID PASSWORD" message, once clicking on Forgot Password Link it throws me an Java exception for Authorizer, is it an application error message or configurations of an application were setup incorrently with a DB? There's an instance to it, I've had that application up and running with several internal bugs to it which were allocated in the middle of a user-session, but @ least at some point I was able to successfully login, now I'm not even getting threw after redeployment...Once more thing, my application server doesn't show any visuals that our application has on the login page whereas HTTPServer has all of them, how would I got about it, I've copied and pasted my webroot folder to a default application path directory... If anybody can get back to me with this problem I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you,
    Tim

    I've recently deployed an application in Websphere and HTTPServer and have Oracle on the DB back-end. Tim, apparently your login problem happens inside the Websphere. You will have a better chance to ask this question in IBM's forums.

    Using "@" in a password for a DB User is not supported at all (allthough it works).
    I did so myself once and I think it was possible to get a connection utilize quotes,
    but I do not remember which ones in what way.
    Could have been like
    sqlplus "sapsr3/admin@1234"
    but not very sure any more.
    My be toy around with this, but more easy is to use brtools and change the
    password to contain only valid oracle letters.
    The problem with "@" is, that it delimits the SQLNET Connect identifier.
    Volker
    Oh, and for executing brtools, do not provide a user at all or only "-u /"
    This should do a sysdba connect.

    that they plug lan cable , as they computer account is valid in active directory they are authorized and access the LAN .
    they bypass some group policy by this way,
    how can I force 802.1x wired client computer to plug lan cable during boot and login process in order to prevent bypass user login group policy  ?
    I want to force lan cable plugin during login process on 802.1x computer only weird client?

    Hello,
    you can disable CD/USB with GPO settings to prevent the use from it.
    And for the change from the local admin password you should consider that the CEO of the company should make clear policies so users can legally be punished if they don't work with the company rules.
    You can manage lot of settings with scripts etc. BUT there is a time where the CEO is responsible about rules.

    I've an oracle internet directory and I want export several users from an LDAP branch to another, using the ldifrite for exporting into a ldif file.
    But when i execute the command I get the message invalid password.

    and How can I retrieve the original password to use for run this tools
    It's very urgent.
    Thanks a lot.

    the password is the one you gave to ias_admin during installation. (assuming this is an OID you are using as part of an Oracle AS installation) The same password is being used for orcladmin as well.
    if you need to reset the password see "oidpasswd"

  • SSO authtication doesnt show "invalid password" message

    We have 2 SSO servers
    In once, if the user enters invalid password, then same page comes up with message "invalid username/password"
    This is the expected behaviour
    In other, same page comes up, but without any message
    This is misleading and the user keeps thinking why he is not able to proceed without realizing that the password was incorrect
    I am sure this is related to some settings
    But dont know what needs to be changed
    Or what shall I compare bteween the server where its working fine as against the server, where it doesnt show up the right message
    Please suggest

    So, I assume then that your login page is ok. You tried it and it was there, but you are not being redirected to this page. Can you try re-registering your site using the SSO registration tool. For example:
    e.g. for unix:
    $ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin/ssoreg.sh \
    -site_name application.oracle.com \
    -host ukp16016.uk.oracle.com -port 1521 -sid iasdb \
    -success_url http://application.oracle.com:7779/osso_login_success \
    -cancel_url http://application.oracle.com:7779 \
    -logout_url http://application.oracle.com:7779/osso_logout_success \
    -home_url http://application.oracle.com:7779 \
    -config_mod_osso TRUE \
    -oracle_home_path $ORACLE_HOME \
    -u root \
    -sso_server_version v1.2 \
    -verbose TRUE
    e.g. for Windows (with no line breaks):
    %ORACLE_HOME%\sso\bin\ssoreg.bat
    -site_name application.oracle.com
    -host ukp16016.uk.oracle.com -port 1521 -sid iasdb
    -success_url http://application.oracle.com:7779/osso_login_success
    -cancel_url http://application.oracle.com:7779
    -logout_url http://application.oracle.com:7779/osso_logout_success
    -home_url http://applicationk.oracle.com:7779
    -config_mod_osso TRUE
    -oracle_home_path %ORACLE_HOME%
    -u system
    -sso_server_version v1.2
    -verbose TRUE
    2. If this OHS should protect any URLs in addition to /oiddas edit the mod_osso.conf file at this point.
    3. Then update the DCM repository for the appropriate Apache server:
    Unix:
    $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct OHS -v
    Windows:
    %ORACLE_HOME%\dcm\bin\dcmctl updateconfig -ct OHS -v
    4. Now restart the instance:
    Unix:
    $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl stop -v
    $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/bin/dcmctl start -v
    Windows:
    %ORACLE_HOME%\dcm\bin\dcmctl stop -v
    %ORACLE_HOME%\dcm\bin\dcmctl start -v
    If you have metalink access, this is covered in Note:249408.1

  • MBP 2006, Crash during login, black screen, fans running high speed.

    Hello.
    I'm having problem with my MacBook Pro 2006 model. OSX 10.6.8.
    When I boot into OSX and log in then the computer crashes with black screen and fan start running on high speed. It usually happends when I'm typing my password but sometimes I can log in but then it crashes usually soon.
    I can boot into Safe mode and Single user mode and everything is normal there.
    If I boot from OSX install CD same happens. Its crashes. Same with from Install USB stick and from Disk warrior disk. Safemode and sigleuser mode is no problem.
    It started one year ago when I puted the computer to sleep and woke it up. Then it crashed. So I just stopped puting it to sleep. Then after few months it started doing this during login but after one or two restarts then it worked. And now she does it every time.
    Nothing in logs that gets my attention. I've tryed resetting SMC and everything else I can reset.
    Anyone had this problem ?
    Best Regards.
    Sverrir

    I've been having this same frustrating problem, with the same machine (A1150, 1.83Ghz) although mine does it with both the AC and the battery. I was hoping it was the battery and just replaced it (the old one was almost dead), to no avail.
    I thought it was working okay in Windows under Bootcamp until one day it decided to show off the same black-out/wild spinning fans symptoms. Grrr.
    I've since run the following repeatedly, all of which have come up with nothing: AHT, Memtest, Hardware Monitor, iStat. I've been furiously monitoring the logs and not seeing anything jump out. I also cleaned the caches with Leopard Cache Cleaner and OnyX, and did an archive & install of the OS a couple of times. Lastly, I created a new user to see if there were problems with my start-up. Problems persisted.
    Right now the only time I can keep it running is if I'm in Safe Mode. Not helpful, particularly WRT making a backup (i.e., I won't be able to use Firewire ).
    Any more ideas/advice on this would be very appreciated. I'm ready to hurl my puter out the window.

  • Pass form input parameters during login

    I would like to add an additional parameter during login as a flag and capture the value as a session variable. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this? The code for the login form is below, and I understand that NQUser and NQPassword are passed as system session variables. Is there any way for me to add an additional input named NQTest and capture NQTest as a session variable?
    <form name="logonForm" method="post" action="saw.dll?Dashboard" onsubmit="return SAWLogonWait()" target="_self">
    <input type="hidden" name="saveLangPref" value="true">
    <input type="hidden" name="icharset" value="us-ascii">
    <input type="textbox" name="NQUser" size="25" value="">
    <input type="password" name="NQPassword" size="25" value="">
    <input type="submit" value="Log In">
    </form>
    I'd prefer not to pass my variable through the URL due to security concerns: http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/07/30/customizing-obi-ee-%E2%80%93-go-url-parameters/
    Edited by: EricPSU on Oct 23, 2009 9:36 AM

    My solution is as follows. In the OBIEE Login form, I put a new INPUT parameter called "TEST":
    <input type="hidden" id="TEST" name="TEST" value="This is the test value">
    Then in instanceconfig.xml within the <ServerInstance> tags, I added the following code to capture the value:
    <Auth>
         <UserIdPassword="true">
              <ParamList>
                   <Param name="TEST" source="url" nameInSource="TEST">
              </ParamList>
         </UserIdPassword>
    </Auth>
    Now in the admin tool I can reference my variable value with VALUEOF(NQSESSION.TEST)
