HP Pavilion m6 Notebook PC lid and left hinge cracking and separating from body

Im having problems with my laptop screen, it makes a cracking noise every time i open and close it, its really flimsy and Im not sure what to do to fix the problem and Im worried that its on the verge of breaking. I was just wondering what I should do to fix it? I've notice other people Ive talked to or seen post stuff online have had similar problems to what I have encountered.

When attempting to use Skype or other videochat programs, I receive an error messaage asking me to enable webcam/microphone.  I have gone into the control panel and checked that the integrated webcam and microphone are enabled.  Perhaps the programs/drivers behind the hardware have been removed? I am not very computer savvy, but I am sure the issue is not a virus. Any help appreiated.

  • HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC - Continuously turns on and off after new ram is inserted repetitively

I have just installed another 4 gb of ram making it 8 gb. It works fine the first time it has started up with the new ram but when it has been turned off with the new ram installed for at least 30 minutes it just refuses the ram and just turns on and off repetitively. I have to take out the new ram and turn on the computer on to get it running again. Once it has had a full start up without the new ram I can insert the new ram again but then this problem consists.

    Welcome to HP forum!
Thank you for you query, I will do my best to assist you.
I understand that you installed additional ram up to 8 GB and you have a startup issue.  Here is a  link to the HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide SUMMARY.  If you note on Page 3, under memory your system only support up to 6 GB of ram. • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Battery Adapter Message

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook  (product # A5F76AV) and recently every time I plug it in with the adapter that was provided with it, a message in a box appears on the bottom right hand corner of my screen saying that I need a higher power adapter, and this causes me to randomly drop in FPS when I play a video game. How do I solve this? Thanks.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hey iilykerice,
I see that you're still having an issue with the error message prompting you to get a higher power adapter.
Here is a couple of workarounds -
NON-OPTIMAL WORKAROUND I discovered that if you simply remove the battery while using the computer in AC mode. The messages stop. Apparently they appear whenever the computer switches between AC and battery power. It works vice-versa as well, when running on battery power only.
ANOTHER WORKAROUND As I was going through all of this, I discovered that changing the power configuration from "Power Saver" to "HP Recommended (Recommended)" the messages stopped. I did this however while the battery was removed, and it is possible that the battery should be out when you do this.
ALSO, The OEM adapter by the way is 65 watts -- people on other forums suggested that anything under 60 watts should be replaced no matter what. We had it plugged into a very old surge protector, which conceivably could have been robbing power. So we now have it directly in the wall. (Did this after stopping messages with the different power config, so I don't know if it would have worked -- but try it anyway).
Here is the document i got this from for you too take a look at- http://goo.gl/ynP1V
Also, If you're still in warranty please contact HP at 18004746836
It very well could be the ac adapter.

    Hi Sy,
First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53501-54000/sp53851.exe
Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
Now follow the directions under the sub-heading 'Adjust horizontal and vertical scrolling' in the document on the link below to configure the scroll options as you require.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: restore system and drivers

Hi. Some days ago I faced a bad experience with my laptop HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. System crashed. At anytime I tried to switch it on, a message error appeared and system was blocked. Message was: FILE:\BOOT\BCD Status 0xc000000f, asking for running the Windows 7 System disk. But System disk didn't run at all. I checked situation and found the hard disk with 6 partitions instead of 2. I found a partition named BOOT (X that was a replica of C:.  When I tried to restore the system by the recovery disk, something got control of the recovery disk, so that C: could not be formatted; neither X: was. Also, I tried to cancel files in X: but disk was protected and didn't allow any changes. So I could only get my hard disk uninstalled and all the partitions were cleaned off. I got my hard disk perfectly cleaned, but my recovery disk could not be installed properly. Therefore, system was not restored yet. My question is: what should I do to get my laptop with restored system? any ideas?
    This question was solved.

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and/or post it here for our review.
Depending on the age on your computer, it may have come from the factory with 5 or more partitons. This is common on newer computers that utilize UEFI and GPT partitions. The "Windows 7 System disk", the computer wass asking for is either a Windows 7 installation disc or a Windows 7 Repair Disc. Neither of these discs come with your HP computer and must be downloaded and/or created in Windows.
Start by using your HP Recovery Disc set (should be 3 or more DVDs). Insert disc #1 and reboot your computer to start the process. Insert the remaining discs as requested, until the recovery is finished.
If this doesn't work and you can read the 25-digit Microsoft Windows 7 product key on th Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download Windows 7 SP1, create the Windows installation DVD, and install Windows 7.  If you prefer to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive, please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash Drive. After installing Windows using this method , you will no longer have any HP customizations or software. You will also need to identify and download drivers for hardware devices that Windows 7 didn't already supply drivers for.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Hey Sam55555,
I see that you're having an issue with the webcam.
Could you provide me with a model and product number of your notebook.
So that I may look into this further to try and provide you with more helpful instructions.
Also, this Document should help you out. If it doesn't let me know the full model name and i will find a document for your notebook.

I grasp you did a system recovery back to factory and now you are missing the driver for the fingerprint reader.
You have a couple of options, you can download the driver from the HP website and install or use recovery manager to install original driver.
    AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Driver sp54850.exe
Cannot Logon to Windows with SimplePass Fingerprint Reader, please select resolve using recovery manager.

  • Speakers disjointed and lagged sound - HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook PC

Every now and then my laptop faults when playing videos/music. The laptop is a HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook PC with Intel Core i3-2330M @2.20GHz
Basically sometimes when playing a video/music the speaker is distorted and laggy. Usually when watching a video this is also laggy. The computer seems to run really slowly and trying to move the mouse or type it takes a few seconds for the letters to appear.

I would think that with 6GB of RAM you wouldn't be having lagging issues either...
Especially since it is under warranty, let HP look at it and see what they say.

  • Broken Screen and crazy display- HP Pavilion 15 Notebook

  • Win 7 and HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook PC help.

I keep getting an error message saying "No Audio Output Device Installed."
I just recently upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, and evidently my Audio Drivers got somehow deleted in the process.
I checked the HP Drivers page for my laptop, and i found the one for vista that I was using and I installed them again hoping they would work because they don't have drivers compatable with Windows 7 for my laptop.
But i still keep getting the same message.
Under properties on my audio card it says: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Anyone know what to do? I wish that HP could make a compatable audio driver for my notebook for Windows 7.
    Suggesstion?

HP provides support for each HP product based on the original operating system tested, pre-installed, and shipped with that product.  While HP worked closely with Microsoft during the development of the Windows 7 operating system, Microsoft will be providing Windows 7 operating system related support to those customers who purchased the Windows 7 operating system separately from their HP PC (i.e., not preinstalled by HP on their HP PC).   Please note that certain HP products (specific hardware and/or software) may not be compatible with the Windows 7 operating system.

  • How do i clean the air vents on my hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc?

Latelly, the fan on my HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC has been noiser than usual and it appears that my notebook becomes quite warm to the touch. The HP Support Assistant running on my notebook PC recommended that I can reduce the heat and fan noise  by cleaning the air vents. How do I do this? Can I do this myself or do I have to have a professional do it?

    Hi Rosie,
You can clean the vents on your notebook.
Buy a can of compressed air.  Essentially, you need to gently blow out the vents with the compressed air to clear out the dirt and dust.  You need a can with a small straw like attachment for the nozzle so you can point it directly toward the vents.
Do take a look at this document first so you know which way to point the air and how to avoid damaging the fan inside the notebook.
