Hp Pavilion, need to get recovery disks.

Hi there,
I have been asked by my girlfriends aunt to fix her computer, which i've agreed to do. However on receiving the computer I have discovered that I appear to be in a long line of people who have tried to fix it. And sadly it looks as though i'm the only one who knows what i'm doing.
The problems i'm having is that whoever has tried fixing it in the past has done so by installing an illegal copy of vista onto the machine, thus stopping me from being able to create the recovery disks using the recovery disk creation program.
The hard disk is in such a mess with several copies of windows.old etc... that it needs to be completely erased, as there appear to be errors on the disk i'd like to lowlevel it.
The recovery partition is still in tact but is there any way that I can get the recovery dvd's from this as nothing else is working properly?
This is causing a few headaches I can tell you.
Cheers if anyone can help.
Mike

Hello 2kmike, Since you did not mention the Model Number of the system, it would be a little difficult to advise.
If it is a fairly new HP computer, you might try booting the system and when the HP Logo appears, start tapping the F-11 key and see if you can enter the HP Recovery Restore Utility. If so, select the destructive recovery method and the hard drive will be formated and wiped clean of all the previous data.
It should then proceed to install all the original software and reboot the system, just as it was when shipped from HP.
If you manage to get the system back as it was originally, you could then make the HP Recovery Restore Disk set for later use if you ever needed them, such as a hard drive replacement.

  • Equium A60-191 - Need a new recovery disk

Hi there. Does any one know where I can get a Toshiba Equium A60-191 recovery cd from - the one I have has been badly scratched and I need a new one - can I download one on line?
Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you
    Dee :-)

The recovery disk cant be downloaded.
If you need a new recovery disk you must ask your local ASP. They can order it.
On the Toshiba website you can search for an ASP:

  • I have a macbook 2009, the disk is bad. Need to get to Disk utilities.

I have a macbook 2009, the disk is bad. Need to get to Disk utilities but my 10.5 install disk will not get me booted. Says 10.5 can not be installed on this computer. I was on 10.6... Intel

You can't use the installation disc that shipped with another Mac model, or vintage of the same Mac.  Target Disk mode may appear to bypass this restriction, but that's because it treats the target machine as an external hard drive with no CPU, and the installer then assumes it is installing to a backup drive of the computer that is the host machine.  Unfortunately, once you boot the target machine, a kernel panic or an unbootable system may result. They must be either newer retail installation disc that came straight from the store as a purchased item separate from the computer, or the discs prebundled with the Mac in question.

  • Need to order recovery disks, how can I tell if I need 32 or 64 bit without an OS?

I'm trying to repair someones laptop.  It's a g60 and they dont have recovery disks.  The hard drive has crashed so I can't use windows to find out if i need a 32 or 64 bit version.  HP's website can't determine this by model number, serial or anything and is asking me what version i need when i try to order recovery disks.  It tells me I should use windows to figure this out.  (why would I need to order recovery disks, if windows was still working?????)  Anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Cannot get recovery disk to work on CQ58

    Model Compaq CQ58
    Product number is C2M29UA#ABA
    Purchased 11/22/2012
    Windows 8 preinstalled.
Turned laptop on and it came up with "No operating system found on HDD.
I inserted my recovery disc's and chose to install operating system and drivers image.
It will complete the reformat...but while it starts to copy the files needed to reinstall the files it wil get to 16% and then gives the error message "Destination Drive not connected"
I ran the hard drive diagnostic, chose the complete test as opposed to the quick test and it passed with o problems detected.
Need help as this laptop is not even 3 months old

Sorry about that. I should have caught it.
Did you happen to have virus or malware activity as the reason you want to use the recovery disks?
Download this utility from HP and run it. You will need a blank  recordable CD-R. It was meant for Windows 7,but it may work for Windows 8.
    it is meant to:
Resolves an issue where Recovery Discs sent from HP do not work on a new hard drive or one that has been fully cleaned or "wiped".
Enables the creation of a bootable CD that can be used with a set of Recovery Discs sent from HP to install software on a new or "wiped" hard drive.

  • Help!! I am in need of the recovery disks for a Satellite 2445-S305.

    Hi all,
I am needing the recovery disks for a Satellite 2445-S305.  I know this is an old one but still serves its purpose.  I just tried to reload back to factory with my disks but they are in bad shape and not working!  I hope someone can help me out.  I own the laptop and it has the COA for XP home and I have the original disks.  I can offer proof that I am not trying to scam and get the OS for free.  Reason for going back to factory is that when I load XP PRO the device manager show one "unknown device" and I can not solve this.  I have run across this before in the past and found a solution but I do not remember what it took to solve.  Thanks for any help!

  • Portege 3440: Where to get Recovery disk & drivers

    Firstly hello to everyone,
This is my first post and i'm afraid it concerns a bit of an oldey.
I have come into the possetion of a Portege 3440 netbook with the external fdd and cd drives.
The problem is the cd drive works via the network card port ( i think it's pcmia?)
I'm a silver surfer so not to sure.
Does anyone know where i can get the system disk for this machine and how to go about installing relevant drivers etc,
I am hoping to get it up and running using win2k but would revert to win98se if nescessary.
Sorry this is so long winded but hope you can help me.
Grateful thanks in advance to all.

    Hi mate
This is very old notebook machine and Im afraid you would not be able to order the recovery disk for this notebook.
You will need to install the Windows OS using a Microsoft disk.
On the Toshiba European driver page you will be able to find drivers and software for this notebook.
You need to choose Archive in Product Type because the old drivers are placed in Archive.
There you will find USB-FDD Driver. When connecting the USB floppy drive to the notebook there will either be prompted for a TEAC driver (mainly Europe) or a YE-data driver (mainly Asia). Please check which of the two drivers you require by connecting the floppy drive to the notebook in order to download the right driver.
You will also find Companion Diskette. The Companion diskette contains programs to configure Toshiba computers with setup information and to test the hardware. It also contains files and utilities that allow you to get the most from your Toshiba computer.

  • I need a windows recovery disk for my presario CQ71-203EF

I purchased in Reunion Island (French Territory) but now live in Palau (US Territory).  I had a shop upgrade from Vista to 7 but I didn't know they installed non-genuine version 7.  I functions poorly and I just want to restore.  I no longer live in country where the pirate copy was installed, so can't go back to get fixed (if possible).  I believe the recovery in the machine is no longer available as overwritten by pirate version 7.  I think I need recovery disk.  I tried to buy on French HP site where model is recognised but they only send to France.  Model is not recognised on US site.  Can anyone tell me where I can get a recovery disk sent to Palau (IUS zip 96940)?  S/N is {Removed for privacy} and P/N NZ943EA

If you have the product key from the CA sticker on the bottom of the notebook, you can download a legal copy of a windows 7 install disc, this will get windows installed, but not the HP drivers and software. Drivers and some software can be found on the HP website.

  • How to restore the Satellite L25 - where to get Recovery disk

    Hi..
I wanted to format my hard drive on my L25 laptop which currently has Win XP, but am not sure if I ever got a recovery CD/DVD from the person I bought it from.
Does anyone know if this laptop (L25-s1192) would contain an image of the recovery disk or if I can get a recovery disk from somewhere or any other way to format the disk and reinstall the original contents of the laptop?
Would greatly appreciate if you could reply back.
    Thanks.. Amare

    Hi
Usually the older Toshiba series were equipped with the recovery disk and the Toshiba image is placed on the recovery cd.
If you have a recover disk then you will have to boot from such disk to start the recovery procedure.
If you dont have a recovery disk then you can use a clean Microsoft Windows XP CD to reinstall the OS and the necessary drivers could be downloaded from the Toshiba US driver page.
This is a US notebook and you have to search on US page for drivers.
    Greats

  • Getting Recovery Disk for nw9440

I was able to get to a screen to download drivers for this laptop with Windows XP, but I can't find where to order a recovery disk.  Is there a recovery disk available for this laptop?
Also, would a recovery disk even be of assistance if I get the blue screen of death every time?  Sometimes it makes it into windows but dies shortly after, so I won't be able to actually RUN anything off the disk.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi clevelandjon,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I see that you are looking for a Windows XP recovery disk. It should help with the blue screen of death if the issue is software based. If it is hardware error then you might still experience it afterward. To order recovery discs from HP as Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP. You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or start here if you live outside of North America.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Model: 3307sz Recovery Disk Missing

    Hi
My notebook recovery disks are missing. How can i download the recovery disk?
    Awaiting For Solution
    Praveen

    Uh....
Sorry but your model doesn't have reocvery disk to order yet.
What you could do is to use a backup software or the preinstalled microsoft backup tool to do a partition like C drive backup.
When your system fails, you could restore it without starting over with factory defult and all that stuff.
Sorry because of different timezone I might not be able to help/reply you right away.IF that happens I deeply apologize!
