HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p189sa Downgrade to Window 7

Hi,
I have bought this laptop HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p189sa with window 8.1 64bit.
I didn't know about the poor performance and issues of Window 8.1 .
Although I have tried this OS , I want to downgrade to a reliable and better operation system.
Why I change ?
- The wifi network icone doesn't work property, when I change the network it disables by itsalf and it is impossible to renable it then I have to restart the laptop.
- The interface is orrible
- Sometimes the laptop takes hours before to turn off or I doesn't turn ever off
So these are the most reasons why I want to change this not usable and unfriendly OS .
The problem to downgrade is the drivers which are not available on the hp support website.
Can I use the wind8 drivers for wind7 ?
maybe a program can adapt the drivers for wind7 ?
I'm not able to develop by myself the drivers so what do you suggest ?
This question was solved.

Hi:
You should be able to use the W7 x64 drivers and software from the 15t-p000, except the BIOS and firmware files.
Make a note now of what model wireless card you have so you don't have to guess which one of the 12 network drivers you need to install.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p100dx downgrade to windows 7

Hi, Im Colt and I recently purchased a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p100dx and it came with windows 8.1  I have to use windows 7 at work and currently cannot install it from my flash drive due to the way the hard drive is partioned for 8.1 Will need drivers for windows 7 for this motherboard and chipset.  And need to know how to get to command propt from startup prior to going into windows from what I figure.  Can someone please help.  Thanks in advance!

    Hello,
I just bought this laptop and downgraded it to win7.
1st thing you need to do is boot to bios (f10)
In the bios you need to enable legacy then save (f10)
Boot menu (f9) at start up.
Selct boot device (usb or dvd)
Custom install and delete all partitions
    Then install win7
As far as drivers go, it took me a lot of looking to find all of them.
I now have a backup of all the drivers if you need them.
I am curently going through the process of doing all the windows updates.
I will post a link later when i get home for drivers
Win7 runs great on this laptop.

  • HP Pavilion G6-2244NR network, usb, wireless problems after downgrade to Windows 7

HP Pavilion G6-2244NR with networking issues.  Okay, so I have a G6-2244NR that I had to downgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64 (SP1), due to problems with software compatibility.  Install was originally done on UEFI GPT, wiped 8 and started from scratch with Legacy support MBR.  Install went perfectly fine.  However, I boot into 7 and I get the Network icon showing a red X.  I then go into  manager and note that there are no networking devices listed.  Instead I have 8 devices listed under "Other Devices" with yellow exclamations by each of them.  This includes the Bluetooth Controller, the Ethernet Controller, the Network Controller, a PCI device, the SM Bus Controller, two USB controllers, and an "Unknown Device".  Bluetooth ID is ven_1814&dev 3298, Ethernet ID PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136, and so on.  I have downloaded drivers out the wazoo.  I think I updated the chipset but not sure if right chipset updates (Catalyst 12.6).  Still no luck.  Every time I try and install what I think are correct drivers I get a "Device not working" error on the LAN card.  Can anyone help??

  • How Do I Downgrade From Windows Vista To XP On A 3000 N100 Series Notebook?

Hello. Here is the problem. I have Windows Vista Pre-loaded on my 3000 N100 Notebook, absolutely dislike this operating system and want to erase and load Windows XP. From reading other forum messages I have learned several things.
    1) The install disk On Windows XP Home & Professional will not recognize Sata Hard Drives, when it reaches the point of loading where it looks for the hard drive it "BOMBS OUT" with error messages.
    Several options are open .............
    1) Log into the BIOS, locate the SATA option, and change to compatibility mode.
    2) Have a USB external floppy connected with a Sata Driver on it and when installing Windows XP press the "F6" button when Windows asks for any external drivers you want to load.
Here is the problem with the 3000 N100 Notebook series..........
1)There is "NO SATA OPTION" in the BIOS of the 3000 N100 series notebooks to choose. In this model Lenovo stripped the BIOS down to the bare essentials.......and I Do Mean.... "BARE". The latest BIOS upgrade also has no Sata option. Why they did not offer at least this choice of downgrading to XP is beyond me. LENOVO..... I'm not impressed with your notebook.  As usual.... Microsoft has all vendors jumping to their tune..... Nothing but "VISTA" at this point in time. What if you hate it??????
    2) I have hunted all over the Lenovo Web Site for a "SATA DRIVER" that would work with a 3000 N100 Notebook, no such critter exists.  LENOVO..... Couldn't you have at least offered this????  I'M NOT IMPRESSED.
Has anyone been able to downgrade to Windows XP successfully on a 3000 N100 Series Notebook??? How Did You Do It?? Has Anyone Located A "SATA DRIVER" That Works???  IF So, Please Explain To Me Step-By-Step How I Can Get Rid of Vista and Load XP.
    Help........Help.......Help........Help......Help!!!!!!!!!!!
    Regards

Hello Himleung. Thank you for answering this message. Where did you find a "Sata Hard Drive Driver" that works?? Perhaps you could pass that along to this message forum in case someone else that has a 3000 N100 (may also work with the N200 series) Notebook wants to downgrade from Vista to Windows XP.
This is what baffles me to no end. The Lenovo web site has every driver you need to load Windows XP on the notebook.....**EXCEPT**..... the Sata HD Driver......**OR**...... the ability in BIOS to change to "compatability mode".  Duh!!!..... whats wrong with this story. I have never seen such a weak BIOS as the one in the 3000 N100. If I had known this I probably would have gone to another brand. They should have advertised this notebook as...... "Non-Geek Compatible".
Not knowing exactly how you could forward the driver to me I did the following....... I created a new Web email location that you could use to send the driver as an email attachment. The address is....... [email protected] This address will exist just long enough to obtain the driver..... and then......"Hasta-La-Vista" baby......end of story......as I do not want to be bombarded with ads, trash, or perhaps a virus of some sort..... although.....I'm SURE we have GREAT PEOPLE on this message center.
I'm not familiar with the "NLITE" program you mentioned. Again....perhaps you could mention where I can get it and what I need to do to set the program up to run the driver.
    Thanks again, Himleung.

  • Microphone not working on dv7 Pavilion Notebook (Windows 7)

The microphone on my dv7 Pavilion Notebook is not working.  I checked the sliding volume controls and have tried updating my drivers.  A few weeks ago, I “unchecked” a few startup items using msconfig.  Is it possible, I “unchecked” an item related to the microphone?  Please advise
In addition, I tried updating the CyberLink YouCam software, but I am unable to uninstall the existing software in order allow the updated software to properly install.  When uninstalling the program, I receive a “1628 Fail” notification.  Is there another way to force the  un-installation of CyberLink YouCam?
    Pavilion Notebook dv7
    Operating System:  Windows 7
    Product Number:  A1L75AV
    Serial Number: [Personal Information Removed]
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
First, regarding the microphone problem, try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again before cheecking if the microphone works.
Regarding being unable to uninstall Cyberlink Youcam, see if you can remove it using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues on machines running a 64bit OS.

  • Installing Windows XP on HP Pavilion Notebook with Free-DOS

Today I spent 7h in unsuccessful attempts to install WinXP on my new HP Pavilion notebook. The problem comes from the fact that there are no SATA drivers installed for the HDD and everytime I try to boot>install Win>... it fails. WinXP gives me 0x0000007b error. If anybody could help me I'd be really grateful. I tried Win7 as well, but it fails also. A friend of mine who is rather "into" the whole Software/Hardware business suggested that I try to make a new WinXP 7 with the program nlite and try to add the necessary drivers to it. The problem is I simply can't find which drivers I need. Anyways. I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you all in advance!
P.S.When I enter BIOS I can't change anything as the BIOS doesn't show any HDD device, no SATA, nothing.

    Hi:
There are thousands of models of HP notebooks all with different hardware.
If your model is a new model with an amd processor you can forget it.
If your model is a new model with an intel 4th generation core processor or pentium n or j processor you can forget it.
The only way you will get XP to install on a new notebook is if it has an Intel 3rd generation or older core processor or an Intel series 7 or older chipset.

  • Downgrading from Windows 7 to Windows Vista

    HI,
My older sis gave me her old Notebook which she upgraded to Windows 7, but as a result of upgrading the computer has became slow as well as the buttons on the side of the screen not working
My sister had to replace the hard drive due to water damage
She has also lost the Vista CD
So i am wondering if there is anyway to downgrade the software back to Vista
I do still have the Vista Product Key attached to the Notebook
PS. i don't mind if i lose any files

Yes Vista drivers will generally work on Windows 7. To install Vista or Windows 7 you will need a disk or some other media. With Windows 7 I can point you to a place to download a generic image of a disk you can burn into a DVD for installation but you need a legal key code for Windows 7. I need to know the version of Windows 7 you have (e.g. Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, 32 or 64 bit, etc.) and I can point you to a download location. You will need a computer with a working DVD burner and a program to make a DVD from a disk image (.iso) file.

  • Help Needed: Returning Back to Windows 8 after downgrading to Windows 7

Hi guys, im just new here.
I have a MSI GE40 gaming laptop which I bought 2 months back.
Within those 2 months of usage, I always encounter my laptop to be very slow in shutting down. It always take, maybe up to 10 minutes to fully shut down. The screen goes black but the power button stays on orange color, & as I said, it takes a long time  for the power button to be completely unlit. But for start up, its blazing fast.
Thinking that windows 8 itself is the culprit of super slow shutting down, I searched the net on how to downgrade to windows 7.
Of course I did make a back up first on a 16gb usb flash drive using the pre-installed recovery software from MSI which was completed successfully.
Then I made some tweaks on the bios (ie select legacy & disable secure boot) & boot using windows 7 installation DVD, deleted all partitions (since the notebook comes with GPT partition) to be able to install windows 7. I installed all the drivers which I downloaded from MSI website specific to my notebook.
But the problem is not solved, it is still very slow in shutting down, & now even boot up becomes very slow too.
So I downloaded & execute the firmware & bios for windows 7 from msi website (again, specific to my model). But still the same, the notebook is still very slow both in shutting down & start up.
So I decided to go back again to windows 8, I tried to boot from the flash drive (I adjusted from the bios & make the flash drive to be the first priority) but it did not boot from it. I tried F11 on start up & selected to boot from usb flash drive but again, to no avail.
So the last one I did was downloaded windows 8, make a bootable flash drive out of it, boot from it and luckily, I succeed - I have now again a windows 8 msi ge40 laptop.
But I wanted my laptop to be reinstated to factory setting, i.e, all preinstalled softwares are there, the bios is default for windows 8. So I tried to update the bios to the one for windows 8 again (since I downgraded the bios to the one for windows 7 when I downgraded the OS to windows 7). But I could not update the bios, the laptop is not booting from usb flash drive containing the bios.
I tried also to recover using F3 on start up but the system does not recognize the flash drive (with system back up). I tried also on PC settings but to no avail.
Now guys, I need your help.
How can I return back my laptop to default factory settings?
    Thank you.
(sorry for my not so good English)

    Hello:
I think it's not only about the OS version, you need to return this back to your shop to repair with the slow shot down issue, because the OS should be shot down in 30 seconds, far from your GE40 times.

  • USB Ports work Intermittantly on Pavilion Notebook

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-2270us Entertainment Notebook PC that is running Windows 7. The USB ports seem to work intermittantly. There are two regular USB ports on the left hand side and one on the right. I have an iPhone, Adidas miCoach, and wireless mouse that I usually have plugged in, and lately nothing is recognized.
Sometimes I get an error that the USB device is not recognized, sometimes I get nothing at all as though the ports aren't even there.
I have tried taking out the battery, replacing and rebooting. I have also tried uninstalling the USB Root Hub, and then the Root Hub plus controllers. When I did this it seemed like it worked - I plugged my mouse in and it worked! I plugged my iPhone in and now nothing works again.
I have Norton 360 Installed (in case that is an issue), and I also have some old Sony Ericksson software that I've recently uninstalled because someone told me that it wreaked havoc on their machine in terms of their device drivers.
The laptop is just out of warranty (Dec 2010) so this is a relatively new machine. But I love all my gadgets and need to be able to use them all!

Right Click on all devices which are recognized as unknown and Choose Uninstall one by one.
Please ensure you also do this for any and every item under Universal serial bus controllers as well. After this restart your computer and you should be good to go.

Why 32 bit? I do not recommend that but here is a past thread dealing with your exact question:

The "downgrade" will not be free. You will have to buy Windows7 or have a real licensed copy available.

Maybe some links to where I can find drivers to help me? Windows update cannot find and automatically install replacement drivers.

    Hi:
Looking at the hardware specs for your model you should be able to use all of the W7 x64 drivers and software from the HP Probook 450 G2 on your model except the BIOS and firmware files.
Your model uses the Intel HD graphics driver and the Realtek RTL8188EE wireless card driver.

How can I solve my problem?
    Thanks for the help.

While I don't work for HP, here is how I tell whether or not a notebook is supported for different operating systems.
Go to the support page and click on the W8.1 driver page, and take a look at all the drivers listed.
Now, go back and take a look at the W7 driver page.
You now see significantly less drivers listed there.
I don't know why they bother even listing the W7 operating system, because it is missing many of the essential drivers.
I wish I could help you get W7 installed, but I am not an expert with AMD hardware, and I have seen many, many folks in your situation with AMD notebooks that just can't get W7 to install.
Those are the only drivers I know of that you can use to install the drive controller from, unless you want to try the RAID drivers on that AMD download page.  But why your notebook's drive controller would be set to RAID, I would have no idea, unless you have one of those hybrid drives with a SSD cache.
And the specs for your model just state it has a regular 500 GB hard drive.

Windows 8.1 update is free, if you have Windows 8 installed on your system.
If you want run software which is compatible with Windows 7, follow the below mentioned steps to run the software on
    Windows 8 using compatible mode:
    To change compatibility settings manually:
To change compatibility settings manually for a program, right-click the program icon, click Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab. Under Compatibility mode, select the option "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 7 under it. Click Apply and click ok.
