HP Pavilion p6320y - now comes up to BOOTMGR.EXE is missing - CTRL/ALT DEL
Looks like either a bad HD or need to run recovery - unfortunately never made the disks.
Any assistance would greatly be appreciated

You can check your hard drive using the SMART support diagnostic in the BIOS:
Turn on the computer. Immediately press the F10 key. You might need to press the key repeatedly, about once every second, until a BIOS Setup utility screen opens.
Use the arrow keys to select a hard drive in the list, and then press the Enter key.
Select SMART Support , and then press the Enter key.
Select one of the following hard drive device tests:
SMART Short Self-Test : Runs a short self-test on the hard drive.
SMART Extended Self-Test : Runs an extended self-test on the hard drive. This may take some time.
Press the Enter key to start the test.
The test begins and the test status displays.
Press the Esc key when the test is complete.
If you need to reinstall the operating system on a new or current disk, you can go to the drivers page for your product to see about ordering a set of recovery disks: Pavilion p6320y Drivers

Tried installing Windows Vista, cancelled install and now it won't boot from the OEM Vista DVD, all i get is BOOTMGR is missing error... Ctrl Alt Del to restart and when i turn the computer on i get a blank screen and pressing C is not working to boot....

My friend started a installation of Windows Vista, but pulled out after deleting all partitions...
So now i power it on, get a blank screen (seems a bit gray because of backlighting, should show the apple logo right?)...

I have a OEM Windows Vista DVD in the drive, and i know... Windows 7 is better... but i'm not that fond of stealing software from Microsoft and i have 10 licenses for Vista...
I have tried pressing C while booting up but it doesn't work...
Does anyone here have a magic soloution for me, and no i will not install MacOS on it !!!

Deleting Boot Camp partitions the conventional way will not work . You must use the Boot Camp Assistant to remove a Boot Camp partition. Here is a link to the guide.

The way to restart is to hold down the option/alt key during startup* and then selecting the Mac OS. If you have a valid Boot Camp install of Windows it would show up during this type of start up.
* hold down immediately after pressing the power button and until the OS choice screen appears.
To summarize.
1 Use the above method to boot into Mac OS.
2 Download the instructions and read them.
3 Use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition.
4 Pick your friends more carefully.

Bootcamp perfect - now need ctrl-alt-del key map

Hi Guys,
Installed bootcamp, XP SP2 on MBP works perfectly, joined local Windows domain - no worries - now on boot of course it wants the infamous cntl-alt-del key combo - I've tried just about everything but no luck.
In the end plugged in external PC usb keyboard, got in and turned off the requirement to enter ctrl-alt-del in windows as a work around.
Any ideas on how to map the MBP keyboard to work? Thanks all.

Ctrl Alt Del on Windows XP:
After installing,
1) go to Start>Run
2) Enter "remapkey" (witout quotes)
A nice GUI utility pops up to let you remap keys on your keyboard. You can use it to remap the delete key. I suggest using the Right Command key.
After saving, reboot and you'll be able to use Ctrl-Alt-(Right Command) to do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and logon to Windows domains and other useful things.

I downloaded the newest versus of firefox and now it will not open. I've ctrl-alt-delete and under processes ended the process and it still doesn't open.

I'm using Int. explore right now because firefox will not work. Every time I turn on my computer in the morning it will not work.

The message box will have an option [start new session] try clicking that.
If that fails you may need to delete sessionstore.js and its coppies and backups to get the sytem working again, but lets try the obvious solution first.

How tot get rid of missing bootmgr ctrl alt del to restart

I've got a MacBook pro and I tried installing windows through bootcamp but when I did I had to burn windows 7 to a DVD and when it was burning, it said burn fail verification fail. I ignored this and used that DVD to install but when I did it stopped installing and it stayed an 0% so I cancelled it and thought I can do it again but when I tried again it said bootmgr missing.
I searched on how to fix this and I found a person with a similar problem and I was told in that forum to put in my leopard dvd and hold down c at the start and so i did but my laptop came with snow leopard and I have installed lion on it so I don't know what to do.... It is still doing something after I put in the DVD and held down c.

Hi,
Although im new to answering questions, i had have had a similar problem myself to this. You should boot into the Recovery Snow Leopard DVD and try and access the build in Disk Utility, although i am not sure if it is present on the Snow Leopard it definetly is on the Lion DVD. Once you are on Disk Utility try to partition your hard drive, any amount however small and then partition back to the old partition. This in my experience should reset the boot files.

(You should always but the official Windows 7 disk and make a backup of your laptop regularly, and always make sure the disk is verified (dont touch your laptop while it burns)

DM1 Netbook - BootMGR then OS Missing - Windows Recovery Corrupted?

I have an HP Pavilion dm1-4010us Entertainment PC.
Last week after my wife turned it on she said that it went automatically into the windows recovery menu. The computer had some kind of error I suppose (sorry I dont have any more specifics) and so it went through some process.
When it finished the computer restarted and went to the log in screen. It was extremely slow in letting me type my password but when it did finally login it only showed a dark blue screen (not the blue screen of death) and "This copy of Windows is not genuine" in the bottom right had corner.
After I restarted several times and only got the same result I decided to try to restore the computer to factory settings. After this process the computer restarted and showed a black screen with "Boot MGR is missing Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart". I restarted a few times and got the same thing so I did another reset to factory settings and now it shows a black screen with "Operating System is missing"
I tried to call HP support yesterday but apparently I'm 2 days past the end of my warranty and they can't do anything (Really!? Come on, cut me a break). Should I be looking for recovery discs (I guess I'd have to load it through a flash drive since I have no disc drive) or a new hard drive? The guy at tech support said I couldn't download this particular version of windows and that I would have to buy a new harddrive from HP with it already loaded but is this really my only option? I should have called a few days earlier it seems.
Sorry for the long message, I'm hoping one of these details may help.

That states the hard drive is possibly dying. I would try these last 3 steps and if it still fails replace the drive.
Reseat the hard drive, which really means just removing and it and putting back in place to confirm a good connection. Here is the service manual that will show you how to access the hard drive, the steps are on page 55.
After that access the BIOS again, once there press F5 to load the default settings, and then press F10 to save and exit to attempt to boot. If the computer does not boot shut the computer down and load back into the BIOS menu, and run the test again and if it fails the drive needs to be replaced.

If the iPhoto Library is still 130 GB large, your photos are probably still inside; perhaps the library has a corruption.
Or the iPhoto Library is on drive, that is incompatible with iPhoto. Where is your iPhoto Library stored?
To check for a library corruption: Ctrl-click or right-click the iPhoto library and select "Show Package Contents". This will show the folders inside the library package.
Are there folders called "Masters" or "Old Masters"?
If there is a folder "Old Masters", you are having a problem with recent bug, that corrupts iPhoto Libraries when upgrading. In that case, it would be best to restore your iPhoto Library from a backup you made before you upgraded to Yosemite.
Or, if no backup is available, copy the "old Masters" folder to a folder on your Desktop and create a new iPhoto library and import the Old Masters folder.
If there is no folder "old Masters" try to rebuild your iPhoto Library with the First Aid tools :
Make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library, but don't overwrite any older backups.
To launch the "First Aid Tools" hold down the options-command keys ⌥⌘ while double clicking your iPhoto Library.
Keep the keys held down firmly until the First Aid panel appears.
Select "Rebuild Database".

Some SD popular TV shows now come in 5.1 surround sound!

I just realised that some Standard Definition (SD) popular TV shows like Prison Break and Heroes now come with 5.1 surround sound. Thanks to my sound equipment. Usually, I will see sound indicator displaying PCM. Was doing a preview of the two above mentioned shows and I noticed that the sound indicator switched to *Dolby Digital*. Went to my Mac and open the files with QuickTime and there a surround sound track in addition to the usual stereo track. Thought 5.1 surround sound was only for HD TV Shows. Cool!

Yes I agree, no matter how much fiddling in ITunes, Quicktime Pro, Audio MIDI Setup and Sound in Preferences, I cannot get the 5.1 sound directed to my sound system in the same way the DVD Player software that comes with Leopard does it.
Surely if it's an AC3 licensing issue, they've already licensed it for DVD Player, so iTunes on Mac should just work (like most Apple stuff does). Apple have had several years to fix this one, I can only assume it's marked as "Won't fix" for some unknown reason. I'm living in hope that they get it sorted for Snow Leopard (QuickTime X etc).

Sounds like something has been added into the Reader folder. I would recommend uninstalling, running http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, removing any left over parts of the Reader folder (this might have been the problem), reboot, and reinstall. Hopefully that solves the problem. For future question about Reader, you should consider asking in the Reader forum, this is not it.

If it won't boot from the Hard Drive or Optical Drive, you may well have a fault with the Sata Controller on the Motherboard - at the end of the day, by far your best option as your notebook is still under warranty, is to contact HP and arrange for it to be repaired.

I'm having trouble since i formatted my t61's primary hard drive, after i did that i thought i could recover the operating system simply by using the recovery DVD's but for my surprise when i turned on the laptop to begin the recovery process this message appeared on a black screen BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+delete to restart... even tho i put the 1rst recovery disc in the DVD drive. After that i tried the 2nd one which is the operating system recovery DVD and still got the same message. What can i do?? I do have an old yet functional thinkpad HDD that came with the computer with vista, R&R and the lenovo preloaded softwares in it, i don't use it anymore because i replaced it with an HD with more GB which now is (was) my primary HD but I don't have the original windows vista DVD just have the 4 recovery DVD's, one thing I'm concerned of is that if i install windows vista again from an original vista DVD then i wont be able to have all the lenovo preloaded software (productivity center, rescue and recovery and all that). PLEASE help! Thank you in advanced.

If you have an original Vista DVD you can try to repair the bootmanager of your laptop.MIcrosoft has 4 resolutions for this try them

Failure in Model Create Step: com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: Missing R3NAME=

I am running NW04sp10 and am trying to connect my WebDynPro to my R/3 backend app server - am running through the FlightChecking example using DevStudio 2.0.10.
Have successfully created my meta + app data JCo's, they test and ping OK from the Content Manager. SLD is fine, connecting happily to the NW and R/3 boxes. One is message server, one central instance.
When the 'create model' wizard tries to build the java proxies though, it comes back with this:
[Fatal]:     com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: Missing R3NAME=... or ASHOST=... in connect_param in RfcOpenEx
Can anyone help?

I'm using the tutorial 'Handling Transactions with BAPIs in Web Dynpro' [part of SAP Online Help].
The BAPI does work in se37, it's just a standard SAP delivered BAPI, and I've tried a few different ones to make sure it wasn't a BAPI specific problem.
In the content admin I've navigated through the local/FlightChecking/Applications/FlightCheckingComp and then used the wizard to add the 2 JCOs [I've kept the default names for now after your previous advice]
The data is like this:
