Hi,
Unless you buy used equipment, you are not going to get a gaming quality graphics card with a matching power supply for $120.

  • HP Pavilion A6603W Graphics card upgrading help.

    Current Graphics card:
GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i (integrated into motherboard as a chip)
    Power supply#: ATX-250-12Z-REV-D7R  (250 Watts I believe?)
Computer Model: ( HP Pavilion A6603W)
Problem: Trying to figure out which is the best graphics card to upgrade with to keep up to date with the current games, such as : Battlefield, bad company 2, Just cause 2, Amnesia: Dark descent.
Now as for the power supply, I am sure Ill need to upgrade that as well. But I found a pretty reasonable one online at fry's electronics:
    http://www.frys.com/product/5503410
But as for the graphics card, I am completely lost here at what I kind I can buy and not buy. most of my games require to have at least DirectX10 or higher, which my graphics card only supports DirectX 9. I have also seen that some graphics cards require power slots? I am completely new to this and I would like to have support from users.
Oh and by the way, the minimum I can spend is 250$
    any suggestions?
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Salko, to play the games that you mention, you will need a good mid-level video card.  I like XFX, BFG, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  The main thing to check is the length of the card.  The newer cards that are 10" or longer may not fit in the space provided.  With a PSU that is at least 500W, you have allot of choices.
The Antec PSU should be fine.  However, I like OCZ and Corsair PSU's for superior clean, stable power.  They are both enthusiast/gamer PSU manufacturers.  Check Newegg for a PSU that has allot of reviews (read them) and is rated at least 4 eggs.  This is a good indicator of the quality of the product from those who are using it.

If the card did not work in another PC, especially if the other PC had a PSU >=500 Watts and both PCIe power connectors were connected, then the card itself is likely to have issues.

  • HP Pavilion Elite PC Graphics Card upgrading questions.

    Hi,
This is my computer http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/hp-pavilion-elite-e9220y/4505-3118_7-33777303.html, scroll down for the specs. Im a big pc gamer and the graphics card I currently have is good but im looking to push further and get a better one. Mainly looking to get a more powerful graphic card that is compatible with the processor I currently have. If anyone can list me better graphic cards that are compatible please list all of them intill I would need to upgrade my proccesor, Thank you.

Your PC is spec'd with a 300 watt power supply.  Unplug your PC and open it up.  Read the label on the power supply.  What is the total wattage and the 12+ volt amperage? Also, is the slot next to the video card (PCI-E x16 slot) open? The e9920y specifications and motherboard.
If your PC only has a 300 watt power supply, then depending on the 12+ volt amperage you have limited choices of video graphics cards without replacing the power supply.  You probably can get the NVIDIA Geforce 220 GT to work but nothing faster. For a gamer, the GT 220 is not the best choice but it's faster than your ATI Radeon HD 4350.  At this point, you will need to replace the power supply and install a new video card if your want something faster.
Review the ATI and NVIDIA performance specifications. Look at the memory bandwidth specifications and the DirectX level support.
How to replace a power supply.
How to replace a video card.
    So where are you headed?

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl Graphics Card Upgrade!!!

Hello is there a way i can replace and upgrade my HP Pavilion dv6-6c53cl's graphics card? I would like to play some of the newer games on the market but the graphics card seems to be holding me back. If there isn't a way I can replace it, is there a way to raise it without physically replacing the part?

    Hi,
No, you can't, the "Intel HD Graphics 3000" is soldered to the otherboard. Actually we can't change video card on nearly all laptops.

  • Graphics card upgrade help

Hello, last year i bought a Gigabyte R9 270X 2GB OC graphics card, and it did not work after alot of tries and it just stays on a black screen(GPU Fans running) , so i gave up and it's sitting here collecting dust, can someone check if my PC can actually support this card? if yes, how can i get it to work? , if not, then what card can i use for 1080p 60FPS gaming.
also i forgot to mention that i got a CORSAIR VS550 Power Supply for the graphics card.
    model: Hp Pavilion p6751is

    Hi,
Contact Gigabyte for a remendy.  The card may be defective or not compatible with your PC.  I see a lot of "fan running" situations with graphics cards and that doesn't mean the card is good or compatible with your PC.  Try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps.
Your statement about "60 FPS" is not technically qualified.  There are many faster PCs compared to your PC and many can't run some games at 60 FPS.

  • Video graphics card upgrade help needed

    Hello,
I have an HP elite h8 1010 and am looking to upgrade my video card, and, if i must, my psu also.   My budget for the graphics card is 150-250 and if i need the psu I'm not looking to spend more than $300(ish) for both.  Any suggestions?
I currently have a radeon 9600gt and a thermaltake 430wt model tt-8020a.    I'm being overwhelmed with the technical jargon that is discussed when buying the graphics card and meeting the system requirements for same including the minimum wattage of the psu to run the card, including the space required to fit the card.  I do have enough space for a dual slot card, but some of these cards are extra long and I'm not sure how to determine if they will fit inside this case.  I was interested in this card or something similar...
    EVGA GeForce GTX650Ti Boost SuperClocked 2GB GDDR5 192bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready Graphics Card
    Thanks.

    HI Bigst79.
I will be pleased to assist you with some information on graphic cards. I totally understand that all the technical jargon, can be overwhelming, and hard to comprehend.
Rest assured I am here to help!!
After viewing the specifications you provided you will  notice the interface on yours is different then on the card you are looking at.  When you look at your specification, click on graphics. You will notice that it does not  lists PCLR 3.0 but rather PCI Express x16.  You can purchase a PCL 2,0 card and it should be backwards compatible.
I am also including the specifications for the card you were looking at purchasing  click here. If you will notice under the requirements it does tell you the minimum power supply is 400 watt.
I hope this helps to explain what you need to consider when purchasing the card.,
Please let me know what you decide as I would very much like to know.

  • HP Pavilion 500-141ea Graphics Card Upgrade

Hey I've treid searching everywhere but I've not found anything on how to improve the graphics card for this computer, can someone tell me or help me find what cards this computer supports? The one that it currently has is fairly bad so I'd be happy to hear most if not all suggestions. (first post btw).

It's cheap because it is old. That is the "4" series with DDR3 memory 512 megs. In the day it was a very good card and will perform as you wish. It does need a 6 pin power supply lead so you need a new power supply. It also awfully long to fit in the space you have to hold it.

  • MSI GX620 notebook graphics card upgrade (HELP)

    Hello
first time sorry for my bad english.
     I have a MSI GX620 laptop with a nv 9600th
I thought to myself that I have a ati hd4670 of replacements.
but unfortunately not boot the notebook with the video card.
the notebook starts, but only up to the hardware id consultation.
Give it a possibility to modify the bios that the card is detected?
ie the white list table expand.

There is no whitelist for the MSI gx620. This model supports many many graphics card.
There may be a problem with your 4670 card. You may want to update the laptop BIOS however to that of the gt627 or possibly gx623.
I recommend you return the graphics card to the seller you got it from. You can get a new heatsink for better Nvidia cards like this http://cgi.ebay.com/NVIDIA-quadro-FX-2700M-512MB-NB9E-GLM2-MXM-III-/270729976730?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f08c39b9a which is like the 9700m GTS (good if not better) http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-Nvidia-Quadro-FX-3600M-MXM-512MB-Graphic-Card-/170612917606?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item27b9528566#ht_4888wt_1139 (like 9800m GTS, very good) http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-nVidia-Quadro-FX-3700M-1-GB-Video-Card-NEW-NB9E-GLM3-/370504497087?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item5643c9f7bf (the best, but will run HOT)
Or if you like ATI http://cgi.ebay.com/Alienware-M17-M15X-512MB-ATI-HD-3870-Master-Video-Card-/180661996018?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item2a104b49f2
The heatsink may be hard to get. I think I could get one for you tho, PM me if you're interested.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1207c graphics card upgrade question

Hi, I currently own a HP Pavilion p7-1207c and I play NBA 2K15 on low settings at 1600x900 and average only about 25 maybe 30 if I get lucky. The card I plan on upgrading to is either the GT 630 or the GT 730. My question is if my motherboard would support either of these cards and will I see a increase of framerates in 2K15? I have tried finding a BIOS update on my computer HP's page, couldn't find any. I was just wondering if the GT 730 would be compatible with my PC.
    Thanks!

    GarrickLee, welcome to the forum.
There is no BIOS update for the computer.  HP doesn't develop them after the computer is over a year old.
Yes, the GT 730 is compatible with your motherboard.  However, I can't tell you for certain if it will provide more FPS.

  • I am looking for a new graphics card to help with my 1.5GB files in InDesign.

I am getting "Out of memory " indications as my files gets to the maximum number of pages in my magazine. I am guessing that I need a larger capacity graphics card to help during the construction of the magazine. Any thoughts?

I have a Lenovo desktop with win8 and 16GB memory. I have an upgraded graphics card with 2GB memory. I am using CS6. My free drive space is in the 300GB range. I keep all data off line on a 1TB Buffalo drive. I am producing a 52 page color magazine that is filled with graphics and ads (40%). I rarely import graphics files and normally always link them. As I am moving around my file sometimes processing is slow. I have turned off the pre-flight and only use it when I am ready to go to the printer. That helps. I wopuld like to get back to sub-second response time and thought a better performing graphics card would help.
    Mike.

  • Slimline s5-1010 - HDMI graphics card upgrade, what graphics cards will work in slimline box?

Slimline s5-1010 - HDMI graphics card upgrade, what graphics cards will work in slimline box?  Cheap will do, under 100.  Has 1 PCI Express x16, but the slot on back of pc looks about 2" too short for this?

    Hi-
I think you will find there are more users of the ATI Radeon 9800 that DON'T have a 300w PSU, than those that do. It would leave out the majority of the G4 line if it were absolutely necessary. As I see it, it isn't absolutely necessary, and, it is also the ONLY higher end upgrade graphics card commercially produced for 2x, 4x AGP systems, most of which, DON'T have a 300w PSU.
My Sawtooth has a 237w PSU, and the 9800, and my processor upgrade, and 2 internal drives, all work just fine!
As for the piggyback connection, that is how you connect the power to the 9800. A splitter molex cable is used to split power from the superdrive connection, between the superdrive and the 9800.
