  • Green light, network recognized, still no internet access

    Hi all,
After a day of tinkering with my new AEBS 802.11n, I finally got the network up and running, after reinstalling the Airport Utility software and configuring the AEBS settings manually. Yay. But still, I can't get on line. There the AEBS sits, with its glowing green light taunting me, and my MacBook tells me I'm connected to my network, yet zip, nada, no internet access. I've tried unplugging and recycling the modem and the AEBS, separately and together, to no avail.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks! Kate

hi kate - oh, i had similar experiences (maybe have a look at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1087373&tstart=0). so for me it looks like a tcp/ip address missmatch. do maybe the following:
check the modem/routers ip adress on the private side (not the public address on the dsl side). some hints to get this address if not available from the modem/routers manufacturer:
    - connect the modem/router using an ethernet cable (mine is yellow) directly to your computer
    - open safari and enter the address 192.168.1.1 (if you have a netopia modem or 192.168.0.1 if you have a netgear modem or the address of your specific modem/router .... ... right, that's the address you should look for )
    - if you have found the right address the a message will follow that you should enter the modem/routers userid and password mostly "admin" and "1234"
    - you will get the modem/routers menue where you can select somewhere "status" and you can verify the address. and ensure the modem/router is set to "DHCP" and look for both DNS address entries. these addresses you should set in your airport extreme
    - disconnect the yellow cable. and a good idea is to fully restart your computer afterthat
but the main stuff from this story is, that you have to get somehow the ip adresse from your modem/router for your private network side. assuming now it's 192.168.0.1. so open airport utility, doubleclick on the airport extreme icon and select the internet icon.
    - then set the addressing mode from dhcp to manual
    - set the ip adress of the airport to 192.168.0.255 (this address is out of the DHCP-range)
    - set the network mask to 255.255.255.0
    - set the routers address to 192.168.0.1
    - set the dns-entries to the addresses you have found in the modem status
    - i m not sure if it's really necessary, but i have also set the ip address range for its distribution to 192.168.0.10 - 200 (the airport extreme should not make address distribution, because the modem/router is doing that ... but anyway)
    - reconfigure and restart the airport
    - open in the systems menue from your computer (i don't know the english name of the main mac configuration tool ...), open network, go the tcp/ip and renew the DCHP-lease (also your computer must get a new valid ip adress)
    - open safari and then you should come to the internet ...
    hope this helps

  • Network Diagnostics gives green lights, but machine still won't connect

I am using a AE(N) base station and wireless network, and as far as I know, no settings have changed. My mac mini has an IP address can send and receive mail, but neither Firefox nor Safari can load any webpages and apps that try to connect like software update don't recognize a working connection. Network Diagnostics give me green lights all the way through "Server" and multiple other machines still work on the same network. I have removed the network login info from the mac mini and erased the mini's connection access from the base station and started over. Mini has no change, and the other machines are still fine. I tried creating a guest network and connecting to that, but it didn't help. I'm running out of ideas to trouble-shoot the problem. Any advice is appreciated.

In the Network panel of System Preferences, if you click on the "Advanced" button for your AirPort connection, then on the "DNS" tab, what do you see for "DNS Servers"? How does that computer with the same settings for the computers that are working?
What do you mean by the statement that "I have removed the network login info from the mac mini and erased the mini's connection access from the base station"?

  • Blackberry Notebook -- Red light STEADY, Green light BLINKS 5 TIMES, wont come on

Ive charged my Playbook for 30 minutes via computer. I tried cutting on the tablet and the red light came on STEADY, then the GREEN LIGHT BLINKED 5 times. It would not power on. I also tried cutting it on while plugged in and the same thing occured. I have tried resetting it by holding the + and - sign for 20 secs and no success. I bought the playbook from Radio Shack NEW in February.  Any suggestions?

You can Try this and let us know wich solution works...
If your battery is dead or near dead, you have a problem. If you follow these instructions you may be able to make a recovery but it will take some time.
The charger is controlled by software. The software will not run because the battery voltage is too low. When the battery is too low and you turn on the PB, It will only run for about 4 minutes and then shut down again. During this 4 minutes, the charger will begin charging but since the battery voltage is still too low, the unit will shut down again and the charger will shut off.
To get the voltage up sufficiently for the PB To continue, you have to have the charger plugged in and every 5 minutes or so, you have to hold the power button on until the red light flashes then release it.It will once again recharge for 4 minutes. You may have to repeat these steps at least 10 times. Once the voltage gets up a bit, the charger should stay on but it will takes 6 hours to fully recharge the battery. When your charger is charging, it will feel warm to the touch so check it often to see if it is in fact charging.

  • My Macbook Pro laptop won't power up and the green light is on at the power cord source

I haven't started up my laptop for 2 days and this morning I went to tunr it on and it would not start up. The battery is fully charged and I only purchased a new battery last year so it should be OK. I have tried all the options as suggested in the forum including restting the SMC. Any ideas what could be the problem?

    jenmesser,
please list all of the options which you have tried so far, so that we don’t suggest anything which you’ve already tried.

Went through this step-by-step, but alas it did not solve the problem. For some reason I can download mail on my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but no my iMac. Connection Doctor shows all green lights. This started today when I was prompted to re-enter incoming mail server passwords. I re-entered passowrds yet again to make sure they were correct. Rebuilt the inBox. Connection Doctor continues to show all green lights, but am still unable to download mail to the inbox. Has anyone else ever run into this problem?

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro 13, green light on magsafe, but not charging, not powering on

Hi there, I have a Macbook Pro 13 early 2011 i5, and it's stoped working, when it's on the charger the green light comes on, when i pres battery indicator on the side of mbp there is only one green light flashing. when i press power button nothing hapends, mbp wont turn on, i have tried to do the reset, did not helped. Maby someone had, the same problem and knows how to fix it, or knows if its completle dead, and not worth to fix. Thanks

Take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on it. They will give you a quote on how much it would cost to fix your machine. Then you can decide if it's worth repairing or if its just time to replace it.
I'm assuming that you didn't buy the extended AppleCare warranty? Too bad - if you had the machine would likely be repaired free of charge...

I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%.  How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?

The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%.  This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
    Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month.  Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it.  Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
A green light means that your battery is full or that it can't be detected. If you can't start up the Mac, probably your logic board or battery aren't working.
Take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller to get your battery or logic board replaced. If the MacBook is in warranty, this repair will be free

I have a Airport Extreme that is dropping the wireless signal alot (several times a day) The green light will go amber, but the internet service is still ok if your using an ethernet cable directly plugged in. When the light goes amber all devices that is using wireless will lose there wireless icon. The only way to get the green light back is to unplug the Airport device and replug it back in. I tried the reset on the back but still no luck. What is the fix?

Let's see if I can get this straight.
You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...
    Correct?
    See this Apple document:

The wireless unit on the right of the diagram can be either of the newer Apple base stations.
    Extreme, Express, Time Capsule

Is there a way to use activity monitor to identify and kill the process controlling the isight? My apologies in advance if this sounds windows (task manager) like.
    Thanks

com/kb/HT2411: Your camera can be used by only one application at a time.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
