HP Pavilion tx 2000 broken hinge

My screen's been a little wobbly for a few months, but it was tolerable until this morning when it started to just flat out fall over when I lifted it up. The screen's flickering a little bit, too, and the fan seems to be working way overtime.
I've had it for almost two years and my warranty's long since expired, so I can't just take it back and get a new one like I did last time I had a problem.
Is there anyway I can repair this myself at home or is she on her way out and I should just get a new laptop?
And if it seems like it's just about to go, is there anyway I can do a quick fix to hold it for a while until I can get a new one?

You could repair it using replacement hinges.

bought my notebook and few months later the plastic part that covers the hinges were making it hard to close the notebook so i would start closing the notebook more careful but then something inside cracked the screen and so i was forced to get my screen fixed Then the plastic around the screen was started to come off a little as well. So now being even more careful with the notebook the plastic hinges cracked off eventally, and then screws started to come off and craked my screen in the corner again. all these plastic parts were braking and unable to find the parts or know exacally what part i need. I understand your computer is suffering from a broken hinge and a broken screen, is that correct? I will try to help you.
It sounds like the hinges might be too tight making it difficult to close. When that happens the pressure is then put on the screen and can make it crack a lot easier.
Are you looking for the necessary parts to do the repair on your own, or needing it to be repaired by HP?

HP Pavilion dv7t broken hinge

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t that has a broken hinge. It has slowly become a problem. First the screw fell out and we tried to replace it but it did not hold it tight enough. I have been very carefull with my laptop and I very rarely move it from its location in our house. Now I realize that my free support ended last week September 25th. I wish I had looked into the problem sooner because I have been dealing with it for months.
I have seen the other posts and seen where some have tried to get this fixed and others have been sent a new laptop. What are my options at this point? Will it cost me to call support and ask what they recommend I do?
I am very disappointed in HP because I have up to now had great trust in this company and it's products.

Just got my Pavilion m6 back from HP, fixed hinges and screen at no cost to me. Laptop was out of warranty, but after a long phone conversation, HP finally decided to make it right. There are numerous people with this same issue. Let them know that. Good luck

HP Pavilion g6t-2000 recall

Is there any HP Pavilion g6t-2000 recall. I bought new laptop from HP online store last year, but the product quality was not good. From day one it has the issue with it's hings( very loss and kind of broken on left end). Within few months it started issues with battery, Fan heat . Now the laptop got dead within 14 month. It's mother board got broke. I only used this for my home purpose to check my emails . I want to know if there is any recall for this low quality product. It's very diappointing that the HP products made products with such a low quality material. I don't have extended warranty on it, It's warranty got expire in August,2014.

Broken Hinges on DM4 2180US

Recently my daughters laptop started experiencing they symptoms of broken hinges. While the computer is a 2011 purchase, this apparently is a regular design flaw as I have read on this forum. I am hoping that someone will be able to help me understand the cost associated with this repair. I spent almost an hour on the phone with India today before asking to be transferred to a US based call center. Apparently, this is not an option but they promised to have someone call me back. If this is in fact a design flaw, even though the laptop is out of warranty has anyone experienced HP covering this flaw past the Warranty period?

I dropped my Tibook. Broken hinges.

Unfortunately the other day, I dropped my flawless 4 year old Titanium Powerbook, while the display was up. The outcome was 2 broken hinges, exposing the wires. The computer still works fine, but the display needs to be leaning against something to stay upright. Also the picture sometimes cuts in and out. It doesn't look like any of the wires have been cut, but a plastic tube holding the wires seems to have been slit.
What are my options? Can this be fixed for a reasonable price? I took it to the Apple Store and they quoted me $950!!!
Is it time to just surrender and buy a Macbook Pro. Is it enough of an upgrade to spend $2000?

The display is the Powerbook's most costly part by far, and the display assembly, which includes the extremely delicate display cables, is not meant to be disassembled: it's all held together with glue, not screws. When a cable, hinge, backlight, or the LCD itself goes bad, replacing the whole assembly is the remedy — and it's very expensive. Tibooks don't bounce when you drop them, so you're in for a hefty repair bill even if you buy a used display and install it yourself. You'll be very lucky to get out for less than $500-600.

Trouble with hp pavilion dv 2000

I have a HP Pavilion dv 2000 (S/N 2CE71620R9, P/N RV325UA#ABA) that when I turn it on the hard drive does not function and the monitor remains dark (does not function),even when I press F4 many times. Also, when I put a CD or DVD in the DVD player the hard drive starts, the hard drive ligth turns on and the DVD player turns on for a short time (1-3 seconds) and the computer shuts dowm.
I tried starting it with AC and DC power With the same results. To make things worst, I did not make any recovery discs and I lost the Windows DVD (Vista).
How can I start the computer and get it to work.

Broken hinge

BROKEN HINGE/SCREEN!!! My last HP was two years old when the right hinge started acting funny, I babied it but to no avail it broke. It broke on the inside as well as the outside, like came unattached inside. I chauled it up to being used heavily and bought a new HP (because I love them). Fast forward almost one year to the day of the new one purchase date and boom, broken again. What is funny if that my warranty was up 3 days ago and now it breaks. Seems like the hinge cover is fine, it is actually inside where it is broken. I opened the screen today and it almost came completely apart. What is the deal?

I too am suffering Toshiba`s broken hinge problem. When I called they said that they do not have a problem and never have known one break(what liars they are) when I called them up with a broken left hinge same as you. They wanted £200 to fix it and £80 just to send back to me, as they had sent it to Germany from the UK to see if there was a problem??? I have asked my Bank to refund my money that I bought the laptop (Toshiba Satellite) under the "goods not of merchantable quality" law in the UK as I had bought it on my credit card. Toshiba certainly do have a manufacturing problem with their laptops and should recognise this fact instead of employing people to deliberately tell people that they do not have any recorded problem with their hinges. I will never buy another Toshiba product ever again as the so called Guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on....

Broken hinge on a Macbook Air - how to fix it?

I have a Macbook Air which has worked perfectly all this time, but a few days back one of the hinges broke. The system still works fine, but opening the lid seems to strain the body structure. Upon opening the bottom cover, I noticed that a wire is running through the broken hinge, which seems to be getting strained when opening and closing. I'm presently in India and I took it to an authorized service store, but they said that it requires a screen replacement and I think they're just trying to "upgrade" the repair to a more expensive option!
Has anyone faced this problem before or can recommend what parts should actually be replaced? I don't want to do it myself, but I want to go into a better service center armed with details on what they have to do!

Recovery to factory setting on Pavilion g6-2000 does not work

Would like to restore to factory settings so I can return it. Only two weeks old. Crappy Ralink wireless network card. Now I can't get it to do the Recovery from the Hard Drive, the Recovery Discs I created, or using F11. All result in the Blue Screen of Death. Error message is No_Exception_Handling_Support. Stop code: 0x0000000B.
Tells me to disable cacheing and shadowing in the BIOS Memory section, but I don't see how to get to that.
I used the earliest restore point I could find. No improvement.
Changed upgraded bios ver F.24 to the previous F.22 and used the previous Ralink wireless driver (these were changes made per HP instructions trying to resolve the lousy performance of the Ralink wireless adapter.)
I can't figure out how to get by the Blue Screen of Death.
Appreciate help and/or suggestions.
My Pavilion g6-2000 is running Windows 7 Professional.

I see that you are having issue with running a recovery on your HP computer. I would like to help with this issue but I need some information.
Can you provide the product number of the computer? Here is a link showing how to find that information.
I would suggest testing the hardware. You can do that by following these steps:
Turn the computer on
Immediately tap the "Esc" key
Select the option "System Diagnostic"
Run all the hardware tests
Let me know what happens.

Hi does anyone know where I can get hold of a disassembly guide to replace my broken hinge? I have the part but want to make sure I strip it down correctly. Any help gratefully received.

I would also not recommend removing and opening the notebook by yourself if you have no enough experience. You could damage some parts instead of repairing ;)
Every notebook technician could do this job for some bucks. so asks someone in your area.
By the way; I found an interesting website how replacing Satellite 2435 LCD screen. This notebook is similar to Sat 2450.
