I get an error message saying
"Communication Failure
Download nd installation has been interupted by a lost connectio between the Autodesk website and this computer. The most likely causes are:
-The installation package was moved from the install location, which is not supported.
-The Autodesk download website was closed or manually refreshed before the installatin launched.
-A firewall has blocked the network posts. (note: I have deactivated all firewalls)""

For student use it should be fine. Do not think that it will build any large parts or assemblies, that is what a workstation is for. As for your install problem, I can only suggest doing it wired, not wireless. (I am a solidworks/catia user, if install happens with no network, it will finish but will hadle the network activation on the next connection.)

how connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • Acrobat reader hangs opening pdf created with autocad

    Hi all,
when I try to open a pdf file created with autocad, Acrobat Reader hangs and I can't do anything else then kill the process. Now I use Acrobat Reader 9.5.5. I've insatlled also Acrobat Reader XI, but the problem persists. It seems it is very slow to process the file. If file has few graphics after some minutes I can see it and zoom in, but if file is has a lot of graphics, acrobat hangs. Any suggestions?

    Hi Robert,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
I will recommend you to upgrade your Adobe reader to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your Samsung Note 3 mobile phone and then try to view the pdf files. You can download it for free from the Google app. store or you can refer to this link Acrobat Reader DC Learn & Support.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.

  • PLM Integration with AutoCAD

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to integrate PLM with AutoCAD. But problem is our client wants to use only SAP connectors for that and does not want any third-party connectors for the same. Do you know any SAP standard connectors are available for that ?
I have not found any documentation on the same. If any of you have any idea for the same, please share it.
    Thanks
    Sunny

Hello sunny may I know why your client wants to Re-Invent the Wheel? Though Cideon is a 3rd party tool it is certified by SAP. I f you want go the enterprise connector path, it would mean lot of development and re-engineering. I personally don't recommend the 2nd path.

  • Is there a way to work with AutoCAD files in Illustrator without saving the autoCAD file back to a 2

Is there a way to work with AutoCAD files in Illustrator without saving the autoCAD file back to a 2007 .dxf file format?

Different versions of Illustrator can import different versions of DXF.
Maybe there's a plugin by hotdoor that might enable you to import the latest version of the file format.

  • Slow startup- new pavilion with windows 8

Hi there, I have only recently purchased a hp pavilion with the product key being: F5B53EA#ABU
The first few times I turned it on it was incredibly fast and I was impressed. I have moved my document from my old laptop onto it (not very many, just mainly word documents and pictures) and I have already uninstalled unecessary programmes however the start up is very slow compared to what it was before, I have to leave my laptop for 5-7 mins and then come back to see if it has finally started. Any help would be very appreciated.

I understand you are having issues with your computer starting up slowly and are looking for assistance in getting it fixed. I have seen issues where certain Windows components are not re-initializing properly if the Fast Startup option is enabled. This is enabled, by default. Perform the following to disable it:
    Step 1. Open Control Panel.
Step 2. Choose Hardware and Sound / Power Options.
Step 3. Click on Choose what the power button does on the left side menu.
Step 4. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable at the top.
Step 5. Scroll down and Remove the check mark from the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option under Shutdown settings. Select the Save Changes button and exit Control Panel.
Step 6. Shut down (Not Restart) the computer, wait a few minutes and then start the computer.
As well I have seen this issue when people have an Anti-Virus installed with Windows 8. If the issue persists try disabling or uninstalling your Anti-Virus and see if that resolves your slow startup issue.
I believe this will resolve your slow start up issue in Windows 8. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Dual socket pc's benefits with AutoCAD, Adobe Suite & 3D rendering software

We run SSD as well although no pcie versions yet.  right now our 3610 dells have nvidia quardo k4200, or k5000 4gb graphics cards in them with the intel xeon E5-1650 v2 3.5ghz processors in them.
in the 3D world how does dual processors improve performance, as well as AutoCAD? does dual GPU or i saw on the precision 7910 they have quad gpu' options along with dual SLI configs, does that provide a huge performance jump?

I work at a architecture/design firm that uses the following software applications heavily currently:AutoCAD (Revit, Civil, Map)
Adobe Creative Suite package (photoshop, indesign, illustrator, acrobat)
    Sketckup, Rhino 3D, 3DS Max
office and a slew of other non-intensive applicationsNow we are looking to start replacing old workstations with new ones. i know AutoCAD is still a single threaded application so it doesn't take advantage of all the cores available on the newer processors (is there any roadmap with AutoCAD fixing this?!?!?!?) So we should be looking at the highest ghz processor we can afford to aide in faster processing times for AutoCAD. So my question is since CAD won't be taking advantage of the multiple cores on a socket, how does it handle multiple physical sockets aka dual processors? Will it be able to use one core/thread...

  • Working with autocad and windows on mac

    greetings guys,
i have a new imac on which i plan to run autocad on the windows 7 platform through boot camp. preferably windows 7 home premium model (which costs less). because the program is processor intensive, i have 8 gb of ram. i want to run windows 7 in the 64 bit mode - i think... my question is: what is the speed of my imac? is it correct to use the 64 bit version of windows 7 or the 32 bit version? i'm kind of nervous getting started with autocad on my intel dual mac.
    any assistance will be appreciated!
    thanks,

I hope this will be in time to save you from the hassle I've just been through. Two months ago, after running Autocad 2010 on Window XP on the most current Leopard OS X 5.8 and Bootcamp 2.x version with no problems, I decided it was time to upgrade to Windows 7. This turned out to be a huge mistake. To do it you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard OS 6.0 and Bootcamp 3.0. After two days of a clean install process including Snow Leopard, Bootcamp, and all my Windows applications, the machine started crashing (screen would go black with no warning, the machine would freeze, and a forced reboot was the only way to recover) at random when I was using Autocad. I will spare you most of the details, but two months later I had finally narrowed the cause down to a software conflict between Autocad and the Snow Leopard drivers (I believe it is the ATI video driver). It was a painful and time consuming process of elimination to come to this conclusion, including an overnight stress test of the hardware, a role back to Windows XP without also rolling back to the Leopard drivers, and finally a role back to Windows XP and to Leopard drivers, but it was an unavoidable conclusion once I found stability again once I had roled back to my original operating point. In the end senior level tech support personnel agreed that the evidence available appeared to point to a Snow Leopard driver that was conflicting with Autocad itself. In retrospect it was fool hardy of me to upgrade to Windows 7 before Apple engineers had time to work out the inevitable bugs in the Snow Leopard Bootcamp drivers. Don't make the same mistake.

  • TS1362 I am running windows xp with all the updates. I have an HP Pavilion with an AMD athlon xp-m processor.  I have the most RAM I can install on this PC (1 gig). I also have plenty of disc space(over 60 gig). Why can't I play my .MOV files correctly.

I cannot get the .mov files I recorded on my I-phone 4 to play correctly( i.e. no audio, video jerky at best), on my HP Pavilion laptop with an AMD athlon xp-m, OS=XP, 1 gig ram, plenty of hard drive space >50 gig. Just not enough RAM or am I missing something? I have updated all I can(Quicktime, I-tunes etal). Any ideas?

My first thought when reading your post ( video jerky) is that the CPU doesn't have enough horse power? What is the GHz of the AMD athlon? 1.8 GHz would be right on the edge with video. And where the computer will max out at 1 Ghz of RAM indicates the laptop is older and the CPU probably as well. 1 GHz of RAM maybe low on today's computers but would not be an issue if the CPU was perhaps 2.8 GHz. The audio is less demanding by far on CPU's than video, so that could be a codec?

  • How to open a DWG file with AutoCAD options (AppleScript)?

    Hi,
I'm looking for help specifying the AutoCAD options when opening DWG files.  I have DWG files of floor plans that I always want to open at the same scale.
I can successfully open a DWG file with the default options using:
open POSIX file "/Users/crmckinnon/Desktop/cabin_floor_plan.dwg" as alias without dialogs
But I don't want the default options, so if I try to specify them:
open POSIX file "/Users/crmckinnon/Desktop/cabin_floor_plan.dwg" as alias with options {class:AutoCAD options, scale unit:"autocad inches"} without dialogs
I get a "Can't find alias" error.  How do I specify the AutoCAD options?  I'm sure this is due to my lack of understanding of AppleScript.  Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Chris

I'll answer my own question.  Here's how I specified the options:
open POSIX file filePath as alias with options {pGSO:original size, pASU:inches, pASR:12.0 / 0.1875} without dialogs
I had to look in the Apple Script dictionary to get the "codes" to use.  The variable names didn't work.  I think that's because some have "global" in the name which is a keyword in Apple Script.  Here's what the codes translate to:
    pGSO = "global scale options"
    pASU = "scale unit"
    pASR = "scale ratio"
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • PDFMaker not compatible with AutoCAD Mech 2014

First time purchaser/user of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
Attempted to add PDFMaker to Autocad Mech 2014.  In AutoCAD Tools/Load Application/Look in (browse to ADOBE program files to find PDFMaCAD.arx). The file would not load.  A message appeared that said it was not compatible with this version of AutoCAD.
    Questions:
When is the PDFMaker feature going to be available for loading into AutoCAD Mech 2104?  How will I know when that feature is available?  Will I need to reinstall XI Pro?  What if the feature is not available until XII Pro?
Auocad has an PDF writer already, however, I cannot get that printer driver customized such that the default save file location is the source file.  Does PDFMaker have that feature?
Does the PDFMaker include options, like various PDF printer drivers, of printing the Display, Window, or Extents?
    sazetts

    Features aren't pre announced.
Support might not be available until A12.
You can read the system requirements page in the release notes. You likely should navigate to here: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html. I do not know if that page is up to date
The other answers I don't know, and so I move the post to this forum.

  • Creating PDF's with AutoCAD

I was wondering if it is at all possible to have for instance a single autocad dwg file containing 2 separate titleblocks in the same model space, and create a single PDF of both at the same time without actually having to combine them after (I would like each one to be like it was separate, but in the same file, just like combing them after they are created individually). Is there a way to get around this without making 2 separate PDF's and then combining them after?
I know I can use the 'publish' function in AutoCAD and create a PDF of each appropriate layout tab (paperspace) all at once, but I still have to combine them after. Is there a way to 'publish' all the layouts at once into a single PDF?

I don't know if there is anything specific about the AS400 version of Central Pro that would prevent you from doing that. The Windows version comes with a task "JFPVMRG" that demonstrates how to create a PDF. Of course, the forms have to include the PDF "Presentation Target" before this will work. There is also a "JFEMSEND" task/agent for firing up the "messaging agent" that would do the emailing. I have no idea if you can require a password before opening an attachment.
