HP Pavillion 500 PC series (model no : 500-119ea) - no sound

My PC is running on Windows 8 and I have bought it recently. My PC is a HP Pavillion 500 PC series (model no : 500-119ea). I have no sound whatsoever coming from my computer. The speaker icon at the bottom of my desktop is not on mute. I seem to have an IDT high definition audio CODEC on my hardware and sound settings. In the device manager, this is enabled. However when I test this, no sound is coming. Do I need a HDMI cable connecting my CPU and monitor. Both are HP.
Please let me know how I can get this fixed?

Your HP Pavilion 500-119ea Desktop Computer doesn't have internal speaker and therefore must be connected to external speakers to produce sound. This model supports;
2 - Optical S/PDIF-out            12 - Audio: Line Out port (lime)
Additionally, ports 8, 9, an 10 can be used for multi-channel audio setups. Also provide the model number of your monitor, so we can determine if it has speakers and what connections are needed, if any.

  • Enable both DVI ports on HP Pavillion 500-319na

    I have just bought an HP Pavillion 500-319na which was described as having 1 x HDMI, 2 x DVI video interfaces.
    The nvidia GeForce GT 705 Graphics card has 1 x HDMI, 1 x DVI sockets
    The motherboard also has 1 x DVI socket which was blanked off with a small piece of plastic with "Do Not Remove" on it.
    After advice from PC World I removed the plastic and tried the motherboard DVI socket which didnt work.
    Is there a way to enable the motherboard DVI socket to work in parallel with Graphics card sockets.
    Ultimately I would like to simultaneously run two monitors from the DVI sockets and have the HDMI socket enabled.
    This is my first ever Post anywhere so apologies if there is insufficient information,

    Please provide the complete brand and model information for the two monitors you are attempting to connect to your computer.
    Based on the specs of your HP Pavilion 500-319na Desktop Computer, this model has one integrated VGA (analog only) port and one integrated DVI-D (digital only) port as shown below (PLEASE NOTE: Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed);
    #4 - VGA (analog only)              #5 - DVI-D (digital only)
    Please replace the plastic cover you previously removed. There is no way to enable the integrated video ports while a discrete video card is installed.
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 705
    DVI (dual-link) resolution: 2560 x 1600 x 32bpp at 60Hz
    HDMI resolution: 1920 x 1080
    Analog VGA resolution (via dongle): 2048 x 1536 x 32bpp at 60Hz
    Supports up to two displays at the same time.
    There are a few ways to connect the monitors to your computer, however you can only use the two ports on the NVIDIA GeForce GT 705. The discrete card supports DVI-D (and VGA via dongle) and HDMI. HDMI signaling is the same as DVI-D in this case.
    BEST (Recommended)
    Computer --> DVI-D cable --> Monitor #1
    Computer --> HDMI to DVI-D cable --> Monitor #2

  • HDMI & Pavillion 500-242ea

    I have just bought a pavillion 500-242ea with an amd radeon hd7560d graphics . There is an hdmi port which I have connected to my tv but the tv says there is no signal. I have no trouble connecting a differnt desktop and my laptop to the tv. Could anyone say why this desktop will not connect to the tv please?

    Hi Erico,
    I apologise - I did read your email but have obviously misunderstood. I have just bought this computer. I made it clear at the store that I wanted to plug it into the TV so that I can stream video to the tv. They assured me that I could using the hdmi connector. That part is true. They did not include the fact that you could not use integrated video and the video card at the same time. Perhaps you did not ask the right question.
    It is not clear to me what you mean by saying that the graphics on the motherboard is disabled if there is a graphics card. You said: An installed video card disables the motherboard's onboard video ports. The ports do not seem to be disabled as my monitor, which is plugged into one of those ports, is working. What I stated is a direct quote from the specifications.
    Are you saying that the mere fact of having the video card in the computer  should mean that the vga output that is coming from the motherboard is disabled - that does not appear to be happening. The are to portson the graphics card, hdmi and dvi. Neither og them output at all. The only port which works is the vga one on the motherboard. That would indicate either a bad PCIe-x16 slot, a failed video card or a bad motherboard. You need to contact HP or the store where you purchased it so you can resolve this issue under warranty. I suggest removing the connection to the integrated video and testing the connections at the video card again.

    The following information on the image is from HP's Products specification on the support portal for your desktop PC. Your desktop PC has a different video card if I read  what you said correctly. BTW..no apology required. It happens to everyone.

    Just had to ask, do you know the difference between hard drive and CD/DVD drive?  Don't get angry, read this.
    You said " I know the old drive .......... is working as i can put discs in and they load up.When i click on the old drive-F drive- in file explorer 'Please insert disc' message pops up.'
    All that implies a CD/DVD drive. You can not put a disc into a hard drive.

    As you computer has the following connections;
    3 - VGA           4 - DVI-D          12 - Audio: Line Out port (lime)
    I would suggest using an HDMI-to-DVI cable and a 1/8" mini-stereo cable to connect your computer to the HDTV. Alternatively, you can use a VGA cable but theoretically the image will be of poorer quality.
    Please see these examples from Amazon.com (RadioShack.com wouldn't work);

  • The pavillion 500-319na only has a180 w power supply is this enough

    I am thinking of buying a HP Pavillion 500-319na desktop PC, like the spec but my main worry is that its only has a 180 watt power supply, is this enough.

    Dear wb2001 & banhien and anyone else willing to contribute,
    Please disregard the PSU form factor list at:
    HP 500-319na
    In actual fact, the Psu is an internal unit. It seems there has been an error when listing the specs.
    It is a 180W internal PSU.
    The question remains for anyone willing to help us understand.
    How is it possible to run this system with these components with just a 180w PSU at moderate to full load/system resource capacity.
    Every single Wattage calculator I've used online (mainstream manufacturers and industry accepted benchmarks) show that this setup needs at least a 220w to 300w psu to run at full load. Have there been comprimises made in some shape or form?
    I'd really appreciate any input that the community can provide.
    Please help fill in the gaps!

    Two months ago I bought a Pavillion 500-467C from COSTCO.  My family and I have had 20 -25 computers in the last 20yrs.This one, by far, has the words sound quality  I have ever heard coming out of any computer. I would like to bypass the built-in sound and add a sound card. Is there an open slot for a new sound card and what's involved in disabling the existing sound.  if the comuter will accept an add on sound card ... do you have any sound card suggestions? Thanks in advance.Lwgiering

    Hi
    You have a couple of options as I see it.
    Go to device manager and uninstall the driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
    Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
    Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Sound & Bios.
    Last step is to run a recovery on the unit before these please back up your data.
    If still does not work speaker on the unit have gone bad needs to be replaced.
    If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the speaker replaced.
    Let us know how it goes!

    sl500 series model 2746-AD9
    I want to increase the memory as well as speed. What is the maximum memory I can install?
    Can I install SODIMM DDR2 800mhz? or 667mhz?
    what is the maximum size and frequency of memory supported by this motherboard?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    PSREF says 2 RAM modules totalling 4GB max. I suspect that's because in those days 4GB modules weren't available. I've got 8GB running on an older X61s so that should also work on the SL500 series.
    As for type, PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 is the minimum speed. If you get 800MHz it will work but it won't go any faster.
    Also if you go beyond 3GB to 4GB you'll need a 64-bit OS to utilize it.

    Hi vineetjk76,
    Thank you for considering Sony Community!
    There are some parts of the laptop that we do not recommend upgrades. Hard disk drive and memory (RAM) are the parts that we recommend. Aside from that, your Vaio SVT11125CNS is not a U.S. model. We have limited information about the specification and other parts and accessories that are compatible with your computer.

  • HP Pavillion 500 PC Series 327-ng: Installing Windows 7?

    Hello I could need your help I'm really at the end of my knownledge and really desperate.
    So I have bought this PC today, I didn't have anything against Windows 8.1 per se, but I wanted to use my internet and my software (T-Online 6.0) wouldn't work on Windows 8.
    So I decided to install my Windows 7. Stupid as I was I of course deleted the recovery partitions while I was installing.
    As soon as I had W7 installed I noticed my internet wasn't working, while one the other hand internet on the laptop was working.
    Turns out some drivers were missing. So I got the drivers mentioned in this thread http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Desktop-PC-Questions/pavilion-500-ethernet-controller-driver/td-p...
    After that my internet was working at least partially. Partially means that my downloads kept failing at different time periods. That includes downloading the newest driver from Nvidia, Adobe Flash and Windows Updates. I first thought it could have to do with the firewall, but the only firewall active was Windows Firewall and deactivating didn't help much either.
    So may it be, that the Ethernet driver I took from Realtek isn't the right one for me?
    I'm back on my old PC now and everything is working fine, could I move my Network Card from one PC to the other, would that help?
    Or might I maybe have a virus? Cause I several times got the message Side-by-Side configuration failed when starting a program, I got the same message on my laptop, from which I got my drivers across to the new PC.
    I never seen that message before and today several times... it always came when I wanted to start installation programs...
    Also the internet sites load even slower than on my old PC (and I sometimes get messages: Content Encoding Error) and Flash is not working despite installing it.
    I wonder why I was so stupid to try and install Win 7 to begin with... I feel really bad now since I don't know what else to do with my PC D:... makes me cry...
    It was the first thing I ever bought with money I earned myself
    I bet there is no way getting it back to it's original state, after I deleted the recovery partitions, right?

  • Will a HP Pavillion 500-569 support a gtx 750ti or gtx 970 mini

    Hello. Will this computer(HP Pavilion 500-569) support a geforce gtx 750ti or a geforce gtx 970 mini if they fit into the case? If so will I need to do anything additional(other then put a new power supply with reccommened wattage etc) before/after I install it? I have read about some issues with UEFI and other factors on other graphics cards on HP and other computers not supporting certain cards and I want to be 100% sure. Thank you so much
    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-ca/product/hewlett-packard-hp-pavilion-500-intel-core-i5-4590-1tb-hdd-8g...

    Hi,
    The HP Pavilion 500-569 only has a 300 watt power supply. The NVIDIA 750ti should work if it's not a model that requires an auxiliary six (6) PCI-E power connector.
    The NVIDIA GTX 970 will require that a bigger power supply be installed in your PC.  The Corsair CX600 would be a very good choice for a power supply.
    Open up your PC and do some measuring in parallel with the PCI-E x16 slot to see how long of a video card will fit. The slot adjacent to the PCI-E x16 slot needs to be vacant. Look carefully at the motherboard and makes sure that components on the motherboard don't interfere with the installation of the video card.  Review this posted article.

  • How to clear the BIOS on a HP Pavillion 500-214ed

    Hi all,
    in a flash of unprecedented genius  I accidentally disabled all the USB ports on my Pavilion 500-214ed. Which now leaves me with a useless system, since both USB keyboard and mouse don't work. So I need to reset the BIOS to factory settings.
    I've located the ROM_RECOVERY jumper (E16) on the motherboard, which I assume is the one I need to clear the BIOS, but I can't find a manual or something to let me know which jumper settings I need.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hi, Steve:
    Normally you can find that info on the motherboard specs page but it isn't there.
    Did you try unplugging the PC, and carefully removing the cmos coin cell battery, and pressing the power button to remove any residual power to the motherboard?
    Hopefully, removing the cmos battery will also clear the BIOS settings.
    But if you first look at the motherboard, are there any jumpers labeled CMOS and password?
