HP Pavillion A6500f- Product KQ495AA-ABA- BIOHD 3 error-DVD and HDD seen as SATA 3 & 4

BIOHD 3 error when diags are run.  Bios sees DVD/HDD as Sata 4/3.  DED/HDD plugged into Sata 2/1. Only 4 Sata ports but bios sees Sata 1-6.  If I plug DVD/HDD into Sata 4/3, then Bios sees them as Sata 6/5.  Cannot get Sata 1/2 to see any drives.  Replaced Cmos battery and tried clearing Cmos.  No help.  Suspect original Hdd is good but new hdd has same no boot problem.  Setup disk for hdd wont boot on DVD so new hdd cannot be set up.  Can select hdd or dvd in boot path but still will not boot to dvd or hdd.  Any ideas???

Sata 3/4 are correct.  Sata 1/2 are reserved for IDE devices.  A bad DVD drive caused the problem.  It apparently was hanging the bus and preventing the system from recognizing bootable devices.  A new SATA DVD allowed it to boot and thus reload the OS.

  • Hp pavillion a6500f product#KQ495AA-ABA windows vista - home premium 64 bit Won't boot

Hi - I cannot boot my desktop hp pavillion.  error message says put in an installation disk - don't have.  and also says file 32/boot missing or corrupt.  tried recovery group of three disks but doesn't do a thing????  Don't want to loose data what is best route to take?  thanks

    Hi xbill,
What is the exact message you have?
So far I understand you have a corrupted windows vista with an error message mentioning a missing or corrupted somthing32 file.
Your data should not be impacted at the moment (based on what you wrote).
What you may want to do at the moment is get a windows vista home premium 64 as it may be used to recover the missing/corrupted file(s).
An external hard drive to backup your files and finally a bootable CD to allow you to start your machine to backup your files.
But the first thing we need before we go any further is the exact error message.

  • Pavillion zv5000 laptop wont boot from cd after mobo and hdd replace

So I inherited a dead zv5000 laptop with no hdd.  I replaced the motherboard and CPU, and it powered up and booted from the cd drive with no hdd installed.  I was able to run memtek and the original hp os recovery discs, with no hdd installed.
Then I put in an empty hdd.  The bios sees the hdd ok, but I suddenly can't boot from the cd drive.  The bios settings are correct, and the discs spin in the cd drive, but it wont boot with the recovery discs, memtek, or an original xp install disc.
When I remove the hdd, it still wont boot from the cd drive.
So I google and I read stuff about hp tattoos on hdds and motheboards and dmi, and no passwords for the average person to do the tattoo.
So what do I need to do ?  I don't understand why it was good with the new motherboard, but as soon as I plugged in an hdd it wont do anyting.  I cant update bios because I cant boot past the bios, and not sure how that would help anyway.

If you have an open firmware password, delete it. It will not boot off anything but HD with OF password. Or at least thats what it was for me.

  • Internal Battery Error HP Pavillion dv6 Prod# VM222UA#ABA

I have an HP Pavillion dv6, Product # VM222UA#ABA, it am getting an internal error notice with regularity.  How do I go about replacing the battery, how do i find the battery to replace.  As well I need to replace the external battery.  Where do i get the batteries and what type?

    Hi,
First thing to check: the label of the battery which shows many information including part number. You can use part # to order from HP, from your local computer shops or from online stores. Yoy can also use the following chart to find the right battery:

  • Product #: H5Q13AA#ABA, bad driver for hp DVD A DS8A9SH SATA CdRom Device

Hello, my HP Pavilion 23 (Product #: H5Q13AA#ABA) suddenly had its DVD/CD Rom stop working.
It is an hp DVD A DS8A9SH SATA CdRom Device.  I have tried uninstalling the driver and using the HP Troubleshooting tool.  Nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?  The drive is acting normally, aside from the computer not recognizing it (the disc spins when you put it in, etc).
I'm running Windows 8.1 with everything up to date.
When I try to update the driver, Windows says it is up to date.  It is giving me this error message in device manager:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
    Thanks in advance!

What does the bios look like on a G61-336NR? Product: VU181UA#ABA and is it removable?

    Hi Juicy9097,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP G61-336NR Notebook and BIOS concerns. The BIOS is responsible for loading the operating system. Without it your computer will not work as it checks the hardware and then loads the operating system. Here is a link From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia explaining the BIOS.
    Hope this explains things.
    Thanks.

    Btheone, welcome to the forum.
You are correct that the hard drive failed.  The maximum hard drive supported by Win 7 is 2 GB.  Yes, you need the Recovery Discs provided by HP.
Here is a guide to help you Recover the system after you replace the hard drive.  Read it carefully before buying the new hard drive.

  • M8350f failure to boot, BioHD-4 error

hello everyone, I've been looking through these forums for the past couple days looking for relevant information, seems like plenty of people have similar problems, yet to see one with my problem..I have a HP  M8350f for the most part its ran fine for the 4 years I've had it, heres a quick list of the info before i go on,
Computer: HP Pavilion Media Center M8350f
    OS: Windows Vista 64-bit
    Error Code: BIOHD-4
Error Message: uninitialized/corrupt boot structure detected.
as far as computer changes, nothing was changed close to the time i first had this issue, however i have upgraded my RAM and my Video Card
now as it stands i cannot boot into windows, it starts to load but will just end up loading windows forever, and i mean forever left it on one day when i left for work, 12 hours later windows was still trying to load.  I took it into a computer tech and he looked at it, told me my windows had crashed and i should need new startup disks because i did not have mine.  well i got the disks, and tried to follow the directions to recover my PC... and i got stuck at step 6: a window may open, prompting you to choose between running system recovery from your disks or your HD.  I never get said window, i cannot even open up system recovery on my BIOS ( all other options seem to work, just not f11)  so i called into HP tech support and their first answer was for me to pay them $350 for an extended warranty, "jack" then went on to tell me that if i chose to do this my computer would probably break again in a few months so i should just buy this shiny new computer from him and not worry anymore.  What a salesman, "our products are unreliable, here buy more."  Needless to say "Jack" was of no help.  so i started searching the forums for answers, I've tried running my SMART self tests in the bios and the results were as follows.
    SMART status:  OK
SMART short self-test: passed, Value: 0 completed without error
SMART extended self-test: inconclusive, my monitor seems to lose its connection to my PC around 10% completion of the test (goes black and blinks, switching between analog and digital modes, as it does if i were to turn it on not connected to anything.  This did used to happen outside of the test and when my computer was working normally, but it would happen at random, ive ran this test about 4 times now and its cut off everytime around the same point roughly 10 minutes into the test.)
I also saw some posts about SATA info, my SATA is set to enabled, which was the default
Also i saw many posts about Seagate Barracuda drives with faulty firmware or whatnot, but i have a Hitachi HD
This whole thing is rather frustrating and this will be the last HP product i purchase but as a poor college student i just want my computer to work again and not have to spend ridiculous amount of money.  Any information or help is greatly appreciated.

In the past 1/2 hour have you done any searches for your probelm? I'd hope so.
They all end up with the same solution: Trash this, repair that, Final Cut Rescue, blah blah blah.
And when all that fails try the re-install.

As far as i know I'm using Adobe Java 7. None of my CS5 suite works anymore............and i really dont want to upgrade to a monthly cloud service fee as i hate this policy with a passion.

This goes for Dreamweaver CC on Mavericks!!!!! THANK YOU!
I couldn't launch Dreamweaver CC. An error told me to install "java se 6 runtime". But when I clicked  OK I got another error telling me there is a network problem! I found this forum post on CS6 products, so I tried the download link, installed java 6 and presto, it worked! Thanks!
