HP Pavillion DV2000 OS

RE: HP Pavillion DV2000 (RE277EA#ABN)
I have recently replaced the motherboard and reloaded the original Vista Home Edition OS sucessfully. During this process I was prompted to select a restore point and noticed that a Windows XP OS version was an optional recovery point.
Is this a viable option to replace the OS as I much prefer the Windows XP version?

I'm glad it is now worked out.  Based on initial research, the driver provided should have worked.  I wouldn't know if it worked or didn't work if a user doesn't return to report the result.
Thanks for updating the community with what worked for you.

  • Pavillion dv2000 with Windows 7 - Conexant hd audio

This HP Pavillion dv2000 did not come with Windows 7 when it was purchased, but was upgraded to Windows 7 two years ago.
Recently, Conexant hd audio on this laptop was accidentally deleted.
The downloadable Conexant hd audio on HP support page did not work because they only offer Vista and XP.
(No option to choose for Windows 7 because this laptop is quite a few years old.)
    How to fix the problem?

You should probably get a conexant driver update show in windows update.
Also the Vista driver works fine on Windows 7 or at least it has for me on many dv2000 & 6000 series Notebooks (using one now).
If you have any issues just google your notebook model & audio driver for Windows 7 & you should find loads of possible help/solutions.

    any ideas?

Usually the webcam can be setup for use in any messaging app such as Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, etc. There is also Cyberlink YouCam software which can be used to capture shots, etc from the webcam.

during boot up process in the first hungup press power button once
after that (at the second hung-up) press and keep pressed shift key till bootup's done.
I actually got rid of this "having to press the power button" problem by adding
    nolapic-timer
    to the kernel line.
At least this works on my HP pavillion dv6845eo laptop.

  • HP Pavillion DV2000

    Hello All!
I am having an issue with my HP Paillion DV2000 and when I turn it on the power light flashes, the screen doesn't come on and it makes 3 weird beeps. I do here the cd rom make some noise like it is searching then it stops.
Anyone tell me what to look for with this problem?
    Thanks,
    Hobbydad

I'm on the phone with them right now and they are telling me that is about 3 months outside of the Enhancement Program.
I think this is pretty crappy of them since it is a known issues!
Also the fact that this is registered for the warranty and they can't send a notice to the owners explaining problems they may experience. There is also a battery recall on these.
In the process of trying to talk to a manger now!
I was an HP/compaq customer but not anymore!
I know what is going to happen with this laptop, it's going to become a youtube video against HP!

  • 0x4001100200001005 error while running recovery in pavillion dv2000

here i m trying 2 completely  format the hard drive and while doing so it shows the error 0x4001100200001005 and tells to contact HP support if problem persists..... is it h/w problem????
    Looking for its quick solution......
    help me out...
    thanks.....

Errors will be obvious, if you get errors, you will need to check to see how many memory modules are installed, remove all but 1 memory module and re -run the test, if that module passes, take out that module and put in the other one, test it, this is how you find which module is bad if you have more than 1.
After you determine which module is bad, go to one of these sites and buy a replacement module
    www.crucial.com
    www.kingston.com
sometimes removing and reinserting memory modules from the socket can correct  modules that test bad but are not, they just had a bad electrical connection in the memory socket.

  • Replace hard drive on HP Pavillion dv2000

    Hi,
The HD needs to be replaced on my above laptop.  The old HD is a WD Scorpio 1600BEVS - 60RSTP with 160GB.  It is a serial ATA Hard Drive.  Do I need to stay with the same HD Specs OR can I replace with a faster performance HD?
I've purchased a Windows 7 Professional software to install after I get the HD.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

As long as it is a SATA drive it will work. You can even use an SSD. Here is the drive manual showing how to do the replacement. Be mindful of the little plastic connector piece that goes over the SATA ports on the hard drive and allows the hard drive to connect to the motherboard...you need to reuse it.
    Drive Manual
    Pages 6 and 7.
Here is a great drive at a good price:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178339
These hybrid drives perform much like an SSD at a fraction of the price.

  • DV2000 runnning really slow. Replace HDD?

    Hi.
I have a Pavillion DV2000 laptop (p/n EQ883AV).  It's running really slow lately.  Everything from IE to Office applications take a really long time to load, and to respond.  I know the computer is getting old so it's probably time to replace it soon, but I'm trying to get it to last just a little bit longer.
Would replacing the hard drive help speed things up?  I'm assuming the current hard drive is 5400rpm, so if I upgraded to 7200rpm (assuming this model can accept that) would that noticeably affect performance?  If so, would any 2.5" SATA hard drive work in this model?
Also, this model has 1GB RAM, so I'm  also wondering if going to 2GB would boost the performance as well.  If so, what would the right type of RAM be for this model?
    Thanks for any help.

Do you run any anti spyware utilities on a regular basis to purge unwanted things lurking in your system that can slow it down?  Two of the ones I run several times a month are Spybot S&D and SUPERAntiSpyware.  Both are free downloads.  Whenever my mom calls and says that her PC is running slow I go over there and run those two utilities plus Windows Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter at the end and it speeds things up again.

  • Excel 2007 will not print

Hi - I have an HP Pavillion dv2000 running 32 bit Vista and an HP Photosmart C4280 Al-in-One. The two get along quite well except for Excel 2007.  The printer will print Word and .pdf documents but when I try to print Excel I get a message saying there are no printers installed.  This problem started about 6 months to a year ago.  Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi - Since you can print from other apps, here are a couple of suggestions.
    - Try installing the printer driver that comes with Vista.  Go into Control Panel/Printers, choose Add Printer, HP and select your printer model (I believe Vista comes with a specific choice for your printer).  If you don't see your printer in there, you might re-install the printer driver that came with the printer.
    - For whatever reason, Excel is not reading the printers installed in Windows, so I'd recommend re-installing Excel.  Excel should be looking to Windows for a list of installed printers.
    Hope that helps.

okay. you'd almost certainly know about it if you had one installed.
okay, let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
first, head to your Add/Remove programs and try to uninstall QuickTime.
if it goes, good. if Add/Remove doesn't let you uninstall, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
secondly, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • I HAVE DOWNLOADED AND ACTIVATED THE SMART PRINT BUT CAN NOT FIND THE ICON TO BRING UP THE PROGRAM

    HP PAVILLION DV2000 LAPTOP
    WINDOWS VISTA

I will need a little more information in order to help out. What version of Internet Explorer did you down load it to? Smart print is compatible with IE and the versions that is compatible with are 6-9.  Depending on the version, you might see at the top in the toll bar on the very right side a icon that look like this: >>,  click on that and sometimes you will find the smart print Icon located there. Right click in that bar and go to Customize> Add or remove commands, and then it will allow you to rearrange the icons and then click Reset.

  • Mini 210 screen is popped out from the cover.

As the subject indicates, I noticed a clicking noise when I closed the netbook.  When I opened the netbook, I discovered that the clicking is coming from the screen popping out of the botton of the cover - just below the HP logo.  It does not seem to causing any performance issues, but I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I have had the same thing happened to my HP Pavillion Dv2000
I think my warranty has expired but is there anyway to get HP to cover this? When I put the screen at certain angles the separation between the screen and the plastic covering is almost half an inch apart. I feel like it is going to snap at some point. Ridiculous.

  • 3 loud beeps, dead power supply?

    Hello,
My boyfriend has a HP Pavillion Dv2000, when he tries to turn it on, the lights come on, it beeps loudly 3 times then nothing happens. I'm thinking either the Power supply is broken or his hard drive has had it.
I've done alot of hardware support for PC's but never laptops so I'd really appreciate is someone could help me work out what is wrong with it.
    Thanks <3

Please identify your notebook/pc with more than the series number. Look at the base/rear/side of the notebook/pc at the barcoded sticker. Post items numbered 1 and 2 on the following image.
Post the installed operating system version ( and whether it is 32 or 64-bit)
    Try a hard reset:
Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
    press the power button
    Best regards,
    erico

What is your Product Number? Maybe someone can look to see if there are the right drivers for it that works in Windows 7. Otherwise if there isn't any Vista drivers for the matching O/S will also work.
