Hp pavillion dv6 3127dx air circulation/fan direction

i've been using this labtop for quite a while now and it never occured to me until my friends brought it up. is the direction of the fans supposed to be blowing air out through the bottom of the laptop? (the air that comes out is cool/cold)
all of my other friends have their fans blowing air into the laptop from the bottom and then hot air comming out from the sides
This question was solved.

Makes no difference which way air is circulating, as long as air is moving through the laptop. Some draw air in through vents and blow out through fan.Others draw air in through fan  and blow out through vents.

  • Pavillion dv6, loud fan

I have a Pavillion dv6 and ive only had it a couple days, but when i run it plugged into the power, it runs really loudly. i was wondering if thats the laptop, or is something wrong? It dosent heat up easily, nor is the noise constant so it like fluctuates, so im not ssure what it is. any help would be very welcome. thankyou.

You will see from my many posts, that this is a bad design issue, that HP wont resolve!
    Ive tried everything!
So I try and always have music or the tv loud so I dont have to hear the annoying fan revving.
If it wasnt for the fan, my dv6 3158ca would be perfect, but My next laptop wont be a HP.
I wish laptops had noise ratings the way air con units do, as when in the store theres too much nosie so you cant hear the fan.
Maybe one day HP will fix this with a new bios, but Ive been waiting 7 months, and sure ill be waiting 7 more!

  • Pavillion dv6 fan replacement

Hi! I've found the manual for my computer but I'm not certain how to deturmine if it has discrete memory or UMA memory so as to order the part to replace the fan.
The fan's been acting up for some time, leading to overheating issues, and has now finally stopped working altogether
    I'm on a Pavillion dv6-6140us, running win 7

I saw your post regarding if your model has discrete or UMA memory. According to the Pavilion dv6-6140us Specifications it has AMD Radeon HD 6620G Discrete-Class Graphics.

  • What is the typical cost of replacing the cooling fan the laptop is HP Pavillion DV6 6165tx.

What is the typical cost of replacing the cooling fan in a
laptop computer ? (In India in Indian Rupees)?
The laptop is HP Pavillion DV6 6165tx. The cost means
    fan cost plus labour charges.

    Hi,
You should know this better than us. Normally part is around $40 (more or less) and labour can be $50 to $200. I would charge this for $400 (minimum) or free.

  • Pavillion DV6-7014 corrupting hard drives?

I'm trying to fix a Pavillion DV6-7014 laptop for a friend, and I'm having some issues.
The laptop keeps corrupting files on the hard drive, even after replacing the drive with a new one.
Heat is at times an issue, with the laptop getting so hot that it is painful to touch. cleaning the air vents and adjusting the power/fan settings help some, but don't fully resolve the issue. It has gotten so hot that it's even warped/damaged some of the surfaces it sits on when overheating (is this laptop a safety issue?)
The laptop is only 1 year and 8 months old. I don't know if the heat is causing the hard drives to fail, or if the heat has damaged the motherboard/sata controller, or if there is a power issue, etc.
What are my options for repairing this computer? It seems like the whole board might need to be replaced. Is there really only a 1 year warranty on this $1200 computer?

Yes it is a safety issue...certainly no longer a "laptop". I would say at this point the next course of action is to open it up and reseat the cooling fan/heatsink with new thermal compound. Post back if you want specific instructions. Does the fan spin and seem to work?

    laptop                       : HP Pavilion g6-1200TX

    operating system  : Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
    Sir
my laptop's air vents(fan) are not working properly and has become quite noisy.
this has resulted in very poor gaming performance.Earlier(6 or 7 mounths ago) while playing games (NFS THE RUN)the fan worked with a great speed and hence keeping the laptop cool and also giving quite good framerate between (18 -25).
But when i play it now the fan remains quite rotating with very less speed and also drastically heating up the laptop. As a result the framerate droped to (8-12).Even FULL HD videos run quite poorely.
I had spend loads of time updating all the componets (BIOS,grapics, chipset everything),but it didnt fix this issue.
i even restored my laptop and updated every thing, but still the issue remaines.
i thing i should have my fan cleaned up or replaced.
pls inform me of the cost for cleaning the fan and also replacing the fan.
    I bought my laptop on 25th october,2011. from Noida,Delhi,India.

  • Installing a 32gb mssd hard drive accelearation on HP Pavilion dv6-3127dx

Re:  HP Pavillion dv6 Notebook, #XG756UA#ABA, Windows 7
Hello, I have the above laptop, purchased on 12-2010.  Because I dropped it by mistake, it cracked the the left bottom shell and the screen hingue is lose so I have a white screen view now, but other than that the laptop works.  It does not warrant the expense to repair this issue,  so I have decided to buy a new laptop and keep this one as a desktop use.  I have it connected to an old CRT monitor right now and it working great and doing the job (I will eventually look into getting an HP monitor to have a more modern montior).  I am actually very happy that there is still life in this notebook, the view is much better on this old CRT monitor and other than the stupid mistake of actually throwing my book bag without realizing that the laptop was in it (a lape of memory), this laptop has been well cared for - only issue is that it gets very hot at times, not sure why since I do not really play games on it, but I understand this model has had this issue anyway.
To improve boosting I am wondering if I can install a 32gb mssd hard drive acceleration cache.  I want to know if this process is simple enough for me to do on my own.  Is this a card that I just buy and plug in a peripheral slot or is this something that has to go inside the laptop; where a technician has to do it?  Also, how about installing a better graphics card while I am at it?  It currently has an integrated.
Any help is appreciated, so thanks in advance.

Graphics on notebooks are typically soldered to the motherboard.  Notebooks, when it comes to critical components, are typically locked into that configuration.  Some components, like the processor, may be possible but it is not an easy task.
This guide by erico, one of the community experts, answers a lot of questions about upgrading the hardware in a notebook.  This may be worth reading if upgrading the hardware is something you are interested in.
Unlike desktops, notebooks aren't really designed to be upgraded.  This is largely due to how the notebook is designed with cooling in mind.  More powerful components will generate more heat and the initial cooling design (fans, heatsinks, and airflow) may not be adequate to handle the additional heat being generated.
It really sounds like this notebook doesn't quite meet what you are looking for.  The graphics card is something that is generally not upgradeable/addable and it does not appear this unit has the necessary architecture to support the cache drive option.  Just to add some clarity, the cache drive architecture typically relies on a RAID configuration to accomplish that task. Since the RAID driver (Intel RST) is missing from the download page, it appears this unit does not have RAID capabilities.
If boot speed is something you are looking for, upgrading the HDD as a whole to a standard SSD may be the best option for your needs.  However, looking  at a new notebook may be the best option if you also want improved hardware such as the graphics card.
This notebook comes stock with a 32GB mSSD cache drive.  It looks like the ultrabooks include a cache drive as I looked at four different ones and each had a cache drive included.  They didn't list it in the specs of the notebook, but it was listed when I selected the customize option.  However, the ultrabooks more than likely won't have the video card you are looking for due to the compact size the ultrabooks are designed for.  The Envy line typically has the most options for video cards.

  • Pavillion dv6-3216us win7 clone hard drive worked only with HDClone 4.1

Pavillion dv6-3216us win7 64bit clone hard drive worked only with HDClone 4.1 tried many others that seemed to work but not boot.
cloned to WD 750 GB took about 2.5 hours

The originals were over 3 yrs old low end consumer models and 'due' for retirement to less frequent backup duties.
The Black or Blue Caviar 640GB costs slightly more but also 10-15% faster.
I wouldn't worry about temps, but I would monitor them, and if necessary boost the fans 200-300 rpm to help out.
Make sure everything is SL versions now (DW 4.2).
Normally I zero a drive and reformat more than others, and definitely with new OS.

I understand you have deleted your recovery partition. Did you  create your recovery CDs?  If so you should be able to do a recovery from them.  Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
If not, you will need to contact HP support and inquire about a recovery kit.

  • Pavillion DV6 2020sa bios corrupt, wont take recovery. please help.

hi, thanks to anyone that has any input on this problem its much appriciated,
I am looking at my brothers laptop, pavillion DV6 2020sa he had a virus lock the screen, he held the power button to switch it off, upon reboot he gets the blank screen and flashing leds (2 flashes) upon lookin up it says bios corrupt, i have downloaded the bios from HP tis 3635.bin and have put in on a USB drive, the sticker under the battery also says 3635, so im confident i have the right one.
I then hold the win + B button and then power, it starts, and shortly after the USB stick light up and flashes, then stops, then flashes again, at that point i get 6 beeps, then silence, then i get 5 slow beeps, i have read this is meant to happen, but then its meant to resart, and this is the bit that dont happen, it dont do anything, when i restart it, it just does the same flashing lights.
am i doing something wrong, or something im missing.
    Thanks again for any help.
    Jamie.

You will need an eeprom programmer to reprogram a new BIOS chip with a fresh BIOS file. It takes a special hot air tool to successsfully remove and replace a notebook BIOS chip. This is not just normal soldering. This is what real electronics technicians and workers at an electronics R&D lab and workers on the assembly line at manufacturer do. Unless you just happen to be an electronics enthusiast or engineer, and I am guessing you are not since you asked these questions, this may be out of your league. If you feel adventurous and have  your brother's permission to use his notebook as a guinea pig...go for it! It is not as easy as the guy in the video made it look. He is a trained technician and  does it for a living.

  • Pavillion dv6 3107et

I have a hp pavillion dv6 3107et notebook for three years and ever since i bought it, i have a heating problem (it burns my hand and melts the base), for the third time i sent it to hp service to fix it, for the third time it came back with a new base and a new fan, it has been one or two months since then and again the base started to melt from heat, against my efforts to clean the fan or not to put the laptop on a surface without using my external fan (which i also believe i shouldn't be have to). I had to extend my guarantee for three more years now, but i don't think my laptop will survive that long. Also i think hp    service is not paying attention to solve the problem but change only the deformed parts and send it back to me. So if you have any solutions i would be more than glad to hear it. How can i fix this?

    Hello again,
I would like to tell you that i am still struggling about the problem i mentioned before, after my first post, hp service in my area reached me to help, but yet again after when i told them about the overheat and send my laptop, they changed the deformed parts( the base and the fan) and they send it back. So, it will be the fifth time now if i call them for this problem and before i do that, i would like to ask you if there is an alternative solution for this. Because this laptop can only be used for six months or a year max, with this condition, from the minute its bought and started to be used. Is that the lifetime hp offers for its laptops? It looks like the hardware of this series has a permenant problem, i need a solid solution about it this time, because i am sure that when i will call the service, they will take my laptop and change the melted and deformed parts with new ones to be the same in a matter of time, and the sad part is i am doing nothing wrong, nothing an average customer, an average computer user wouldn' t do. So, i am asking for your attention to the subject if you please.

    Hi:
I would back up my files as soon as possible, if I were you.
Also, if you have not created a set of recovery disks using the HP Recovery Manager, I would do this ASAP.
You may also want to create a system image using the backup tool in windows 7 and create a repair CD.
Then plan on getting a new hard drive in the very near future.  Use the recovery disks or system image to load your OS back on the new hard drive.

  • Pavillion dv6-Had screen replaced on August 22, 2012 because it went black and would not come back o

Have a Pavillion dv6 for my teenage daughter.  We got it late December of 2011, so it's less than a year old.  On August 22, 2012, I just got it back from being repaired because the screen went black and would not come back on no matter what we did.  It came back with a teeny, tiny little black line way down at the bottom of the screen, didn't seem like a big enough problem to worry about so we kept it and she used it.  Last night when she went to bed it was working fine, today when she turned it on after getting home from school, the whole screen is a disaster---it looks like a big diagonal crack is running up the screen and it's a solid strip of color on one side and then lines and then the crack then you can see where the sign on logo is trying to run---kind of---rolling up the tiny part of the screen it is showing on.  Called customer support, which was a complete nightmare!  I used the first number that came up for hpsupport on google and it was iyogi-----could barely understand the woman on the other end, she kept having me tell her the problem over and over and over and over and telling her my name and phone number and email address and the serial number and the product number, over and over and over and over and over and over-----this went on forever---then she had me try pressing the f10 key and the power button and it gave 13 beeps and would go off, she had me put the phone up so she could hear that happen 6 times.  Then finally she says it;s a hardware problem and she will transfer me over to harware support after trying to sell me software protection that I don't want.  She transfers me, I get an automated system and damned if I don't get rolled right back to the same Indian woman and she starts me from scratch like she hadn't just talked to me 4 minutes before that-----I was furious!  I told her I had already been on the phone with her and told her all this information and she still had me give it to her 3 more times then said she would put me through to hardware support.  I spent 1 hour and 25 minutes on the phone total and almost all of it was with this woman that had no clue and barely spoke English.  Why?  I live in the USA, I bought the product in the USA, why can't I speak to customer support in the USA?  Why do I always have to talk to someone that I have a language barrier with?  Why do they always make me do the same thing over and over and over and keep me on the phone over an hour?  It was the same way in August when it needed repaired, I was on the phone that night 1 hour and 10 minutes.   Is the goal to get you to just forget it and go buy a new one?

iYogi is not part of HP. I would recommend calling 1-800-474-6836 or visiting http://goo.gl/Pru5A for all of your support needs with HP products.
