Hp pavillion dv6 Notebook PC

PRODUCT NUMBER: XV699PA#ACJ SERIAL NUMBER: [edited] bought in Dec 2012
I have been facing many issues within 15days of purchase of this new laptop. I have been reporting issues through HP contact care center but no one seem to log the complaints correctly but simply create general case ids that do not mention the true nature of complaints with my laptop to refer to for future references. This being the case I called in when my system was under warranty and had reported many issues like system overheating and shutting down, speakers not working many error messages that pop up. Since there was no proper support the contact center I called Maha electronics-HP Chennai Anna Nagar on 15-02-2013 and the lady operator adviced that I visited their nungambakkam center. The technician there looked at my problem and said the problem can be solved by doing  system reinstallation this time using their pirated operating system even though I had my recovery discs. This was the 25th time I was adviced to reinstall this new system doing system recover. Doing system recovery did not resolve any issues but created new issues with errors displaying on windows boot manager 0xc000225 they simply blamed this new issue to have been created due to power fluctuations in the city and the only way to resolve this additional issue was by reinstalling the operating system using their pirated version of the windows operating system from a usb drive.
Totally frustating and most irritating organisation I have ever come across. With all this I have completely stopped contacting HP for any service supports.
OLD ISSUES IS still there not resolved till day.

  • Hp pavillion dv6 notebook - does not complete start up

I have an HP DV6 notebook that was recently infected with ransom ware. it has been removed and repeated checks by Norton and Malwarebytes indicate there is nothing on my system. now when I start up either it works fine OR the desktop opens, the icons populate and everything looks to be working. As soon as I click on any icon (desktop or otherwise) the circle "timing/working" icon comes on. At that point NOTHING else will work. cannot ctrl-alt-delete cannot do anything at all except power down 100%. The next time I turn the computer on either the same thing happens or the computer ends up working. No rhyme nor reason (as far as my simian non tech brain can determine).  Is there something on the startup process that isn't fully loading and thus the computer is getting stuck at that point? What the heck is going on? Help! My BA solutions (turn it off turn it back on) to BS problems (use your brain) are not working!!

Thanks again for the help. Please forgive the next few moments of "not doing what the nice man told you to do".
In checking the Norton options I found you could delay the startup of certain programs. So I removed an Adobe Air app and One Note from the Startup list, but did not remove anything else. Restarted once and had no issues and the startup was super quick. Restarted again.... lockup.  Restarted again, worked right away.
So then I decided to do what the nice man said and went to sevenforums. After reading the options, I went with CCleaner. The Adobe Air app  One Note and a kid's Leapfrog app showed up on the Tools/Startup menu so I disabled just those. The Startup list is below as listed by CCleaner. I am going to try the bachelor of arts solution and turn this thing on and off again a few times.
I'll be back if the problems persists but wanted to pick your brain on other possible "things" ( the scientific term is Gremlins) that might cause this startup issue. Thanks once more.

  • HP Pavillion dv6 notebook audio recording issue! (windows 7, 64bit)

Hello! This is my first post here, as this is my first issue with this computer. My microphones won't pick up any sound- this computer has two different ones, an integrated one and an outer one, and yet neither work. Troubleshooting only picks up whether they're enabled or not, and I've tried recording after enabling them and disabling them, restarting, etc. I've checked with Beats Audio and they're turned on there as well, and the drivers say they are up to date. Yet nothing is working, when I used to voice recognition test it wouldn't even pick up any outside audio.
I should note that the webcam doesn't work as well, because when I bought it, it would disconnect the internal camera often, and when trying to fix it, someone uninstalled the driver or something - though at the time, audio still recorded just fine and I didn't need the webcam.

If any other information is needed, please let me know! Thanks for everything.

Hello katrapezo.  I understand you're having some trouble recording audio.
Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder?
I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them.  Here are the steps.
Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.
Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."
    Reboot your computer.
    Verify whether the problem persists.
Also, what is your notebook's product number?  This document can show you where it is located.
    Have a wonderful day.
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Recovery after hard drive replacement - pavillion dv6 notebook

    Hi,
I am just about to replace a faulty hard drive on my pc but I am unsure how to proceed with the windows recovery process. I was wondering if I need to contact HP for a recovery set despite the fact I have a recovery (D: ) drive on my laptop. I am replacing the local hard disk (C: ) and was wondering if the recovery drive on my pc is sufficient to conduct the recovery process?
    Thanks for your help,
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Yes, if your HDD is failing, it's unlikely you would be able to create a viable set of Recovery Media.
Your options are either to purchase a set of Recovery Media from HP, or create a 'retail' Windows 7 installation disc and activate this from the key on your COA label as detailed previously.

  • Lost all sound on my HP Pavilion dv6 notebook

I have a HP Pavillion dv6 notebook with a Widows 7 operating system and have lost all sound. Any suggestions as this is a 6 month old notebook?

I had the same issue last night after an automatic BIOS update.  I read about 7 pages of posts that seem to deal with the same issue and found a combination of actions that seem to have restored my audio functions completely.  I posted the solution and it resolved the issue for at least one other user who commented back.  It it works for you, please also post that it worked for you.  I suspect there are alot of users out there that have or will be experiencing the same issue.  It would be nice if HP would post the appropriate solution, it seems to have been going on for awhile.
    1. Through 'Device Manager / Sound, video and game controller' I uninstalled my audio driver (IDT High Definition CODEC) and also deleted the driver software for the device.
    2. Through 'Programs and Features' I uninstalled the IDT Audio Software (vers 1.0.6418.0) that was installed with the BIOS update.
    --> This forced a reboot.
--> When my system rebooted it automatically searched and found the appropriate audio driver -- now I've got audio and Media Center works fine...
    Hope this helps you.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Notebook - Blank video screen

I was running the Skype Windows desktop client on an HP pavillion dv6 notebook. About a week ago the main video screen (the other caller) went black. It has been that way ever since. The people at the other end are having no problems and can be seen on other machines.
    Skype software version is 6.22.81.104
    I attach a dxdiags dump
    Thanks

With it connecting to an external monitor and working just fine, it would indicate an issue with either the lcd or the video cable. Usually, a completely black screen is the lcd panel itself. But you said you had it replaced...
Go ahead and boot up with the external monitor. Once you are booted up, press Win+P. That should bring up the shortcut for your projector screens. Select Laptop only. Could be a setting just didn't get back to normal.
If that doesn't work, I would take it back to whoever replaced it. Did they test it before giving it back to you? Did it work at all after having the screen replaced? I do this kind of work all the time and would lay 10 to 1 odds still that it is the lcd panel. If it hasn't worked at all, I would have them double check to make sure everything plugged back in correctly, done that a time or two... If they are positive the screen is good, change out the cable. In my experience, one of those has to be the issue.

  • Pavillion dv6-6002ev is beeping on start up continuously

    Hello,
I have a problem with my laptop which is the Pavillion dv6-6002ev i5, operating system: Windows 7, error message: continues beep code at the start up, issues occurred: water was spilled through the keyboard, product LL053EA.
Actually I am not very proud of it but by mistake I spilled water on it through the keyboard. I immediately turned it off and I used the blow drier to dry it as much as I could..I removed even the keyboard and the memory cover from the back in order to be sure that all the water has gone.
After that I turned it on and in the start up there is a beep code ( I don’t have LED code at all) that is continues. If I press enter or another button then after awhile this sound stops for a while then starts again and then I have to choose from the Boot manager Windows7 and then starts.
Firstly the touchbad didn’t work but everything else worked fine (sounds, video, battery, processor). After 20 hours of the incident the touchbad started also to work but the light of the touchbad still does not work.
So the main problem is the loud sound at the beginning that doesn’t stop unless I use the boot manager to start the Windows.
I searched on the internet from the beginning and I saw that this beep code can only indicate a hardware problem so until now I have tried everything available on the internet to make this sound to stop (taken from here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01732674&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc...)But nothing worked and everything seemed fine, memory tests passed and everything.
Also I used the DST tests that are available from this model (Hard drive, Memory, Battery) but all of them passed...
So really after doing everything and without being an expert on PCs I would like to ask is there anything more that I can do in order this sound to stop and before I have to take it to expert to fix it? And is it this sound really worrying?, can I use the laptop until I will get it fixed or its better to have it off?
Thank you in advance for your responses

    Hey ktassi !
Gosh I hate when that happens! I've been there myself and I know it's very frustrating.
The first thing I would recommend doing is turning the computer on and getting all of the personal files backed up. That would be my priority. If you already have everything saved externally, then there's no need to worry with that step. Now, there is back up software out there that you can use. However, I've found  that copying and pasting each folder individually over to an external hard drive/flashdrive or cloud service is a more reliable way of backing up your files.
Once you have everything backed up, you can troubleshoot. It would be helpful to know what the beep pattern is that you're hearing at power on. You did a great job finding that document. It has a key on it that will tell you what component is affected depending on the beep patter you hear. If all of the hardware components seem to be working OK, you could try reloading Windows. Although, I couldn't guarantee this would help since the beep code indicates a hardware problem, but it well worth a try.
Here are the steps to perform a System Recovery after you have backed up all of your files. From the blue links at the top, choose "Recovery from the startup screen (during system boot)". When the recovery is done, use your computer normally. Start it up and shut it down several times to see if it will detect any problems (which will cause it to emit a beep pattern again). If it does still beep after the recovery, there may be a minimal hardware issue. That malfunctioning hardware may need to be repaired/replaced before the notebook will stop beeping.
You could also try muting the PC Beep.
Right Click on the Speaker symbol in the system tray > Click Playback Devices > Right Click on 'Speakers'/'Speakers and Headphones' > Click Properties > Click the Levels Tab > Mute PC Beep.
This method should be used with caution though because if there ever were a serious hardware failure that would cause the computer to beep, you would be unaware of it, possibly until it was too late.
Let me know what the beep pattern is. Please let me know if you have any questions or if these suggestions help (this could help others with the same issues). I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

  • How to get Beats by Dre software on my Pavillion DV6-6170SD?

    Hello everyone,
I  recently installed Windows 8 (64 bit) on my HP Pavillion DV6-6170SD and most of the drivers were working right away. I used to have Beats by Dre audio software before I updated my Windows and now I can't find it on the website below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5141...
Can someone help me find the Beats by Dre software for my laptop?
It looked a bit like this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
    You're welcome
It may be worth trying to use the Windows 7 IDT Audio installer specifically for your notebook ( I've found this seems to work Ok on several machines ) - download it from the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the IDT Audio entry and select Uninstall - let the process complete and then restart the notebook.
Let Windows fully load, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
    Any improvement?
