Hp pavillion dv7-3065 laptop will not turn on - led light blinks, ac's light on?

HP Pavillion dv7-3065 with Windows 7.
I fell asleep two days ago, and when I woke up yesterday, my laptop was off. (The battery very well may have died while I was sleeping, or just shut off on its own. I don't know which.) I tried turning it on, but nothing happened... except for the lightning bolt (LED light) blinking three times. No noises inside, blank screen, nothing aside those three blinks.
For the record, I've already tried removing the battery. I've also tried removing the battery, removing the AC cord, and holding in the power button for 30+ seconds. It didn't work.
I've tried removing the battery and running off AC. This still doesn't work. However, the laptop recognizes that it's plugged in; the little light by it is consistantly on. I've also tested my laptop with another AC adapter just to be safe. Nothing.
My laptop has been tested without harddrive/etc, but I'm still at a blank. I don't know what else to do. My boyfriend, who's in school to be an IT, took it into his teacher, who messed around with it, and came up with a few conclusions.
He believes that because the lights are flashing, he's confidant that my motherboard is fine. He said to replace the battery, and if that doesn't work, solder the ...I forgot what exactly, but basically it's the charging connection. I forget what exactly. My apologies there.
However... I feel like replacing the battery would be a waste of money... Because regardless of battery, the laptop should still turn on with the AC cord. My boyfriend intends to bring this up and ask if he can just skip to the other thing anyway, but he doesn't have that class again for a week, and I'm at a loss of what else to do. Aside from that, his teacher says there's a limited number of other things that could be wrong...
I was hoping to get some more input...

This won't help you out, but I am experiencing the same problem... I am gonna look on this post to see if you get an answer!
I have the same problem! Except I did manage to get mine to turn on. After doing the hold the power down thing. Nothing happened. I did leave the lap top on cause I was irritated and walked away, about an hour later it came on. It let me turn it on and off a few times. Then stopped. Then leaving it sit on stopped working too

Could be bad ram or logic board. Take it to an Apple store or AASP.

  • My Laptop will NOT turn on!!! please help!

My Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5892 will not turn on. It has been this way for almost a month. I had left my computer on while going to the bathroom and when i came back it was turned off. I tried turning it on but it wouldn't. The battery light and the charger light were both green, and the power light is very dimly green. My sister has the same exact laptop as i do, so i tried exchanging the chargers, but it didn't help. I tried exchanging the batteries, which didn't help. I tried letting both batteries sit out for a while then put it back in, but it still wouldn't turn on. I have tried holding down the power button to turn it on, but no matter how hard or how long i hold it down it won't turn on. My dad thought it may be the battery connection but i have no idea, and it is currently just out of the 1 year warranty as it was bought black friday of last year. PLEASE HELP!! PLEASE!....thank you

Unplug the AC adaptor, remove the battery, then press and hold the power button down for a minimum of 30 seconds.  Now replace the battery and see if it powers up.  If not repreat the process but this time leave the battery out and only plug in the AC.  If it still doesn't power on repeat the process again and this time replace the battery and plug the AC back in.  If it still doesn't power up it's time to start checking the hardware.  Remove the ram and try it with only one stick.  You might need to try each one individually to see if either works.  If that doesn't help remove the hard drive and see if it will post to the Toshiba screen.  If that doesn't help you'll probably need to take it to a service center.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • My macbook will not turn on, the charger blinks between green and orange and the charge indicator on the side shows no light. HELP nothing happened just stopped working out of the blue

I don't know why but my computer will not turn on! Less than 6 months old!

If you have access to an Apple Store or other authorized Apple specialist with service department, you could take the computer in for diagnosis and repair under the AppleCare plan. Or the complementary coverage that comes with the computer if you did not buy the extended plan to add a few more years on the basic one. With the basic plan, you have 90-days support; if you bought the AppleCare extended plan, you have a total of three years support and service. Within the first year (from day of original purchase) you can buy the extended plan. Without it, a fee may be charged to test the computer. Or if there is an Apple Store with Genius bar, you could arrange to get an appointment there, and there should be no charge (in USA) to diagnose the problem.
You can get started online, by visiting Apple Support:
    http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
Not sure what is wrong with the computer, but an expert could tell.
Also if you have an Apple Store nearby (or within reasonable distance) you could call ahead to set an appointment to talk to a Genius, and have them look into the issue(s) the computer may have. One determined to need repair under AppleCare can be handed off, there.
Did you have a backup method in place to save your work off the computer, such as TimeMachine and external hard drive? I mention this because a computer going into the shop for possible repair may lose its content, and the hard drive or other parts may have failed, so your saved stuff in there could be lost.
Hopefully they can get the problem solved.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • New (refurbished) HP Pavillion DV7-6157cl battery will not charge

The laptop runs fine off of the ac adapter with or without the battery installed.  It will not run at all on just battery.  Initially attempted to charge it for 6 hours with the laptop off, but when powered up afterwards it indicated "0 % available, plugged in, charging" in system tray for a day or two after that.  Since then had brief indications of 1 % or 2 % available, but that's it.  When I connect to the online Support Assistant, it is in an endless loop reading my Product Name/Number.  What can I do ?

Call them on the phone. Are you in the US? You have a bad battery that needs to be replaced. Set aside at least a couple hours for the call. The only thing you can try before that is to go into the device manager and look for the battery. Uninstall it as a device and reboot, letting the drivers reload. It cannot hurt and may help.

    Hi there @ashirm98
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that your notebook will not power up. I am happy to help you with this.
You mentioned  that it would start with three flashes of the LEDs, assuming that it was a repeating pattern the following page has some informatin about that error message.
HP Notebook PCs - Computer does not start and the LEDs blink or the computer beeps
    LEDs blink 3 times
    Memory
    Module error not functional
If that is the case then follow the instructions for faulty memory modules. However as it also sounds as if power is also a concern.
Check the power adapter, and make sure the connections are good.
Then if you are not getting a charge light, try plugging directly into a different power outlet.
Also depending on what you find in the first page these may help:
Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter
Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista)
Let me know how it goes for you.

  • Laptop WILL NOT turn on no matter what I try.

Hi! Listen, I have tried everything. My laptop was working excellent last night, but as soon as I get up and come back, it won't even turn on. My AC adapter is still charging it as the Orange light/White light is still on. I try to boot it up but the Orange light (Not the charging one, this one:)It just turns on then back off. Screen does nothing. D:   I have tried removing the battery.Hard resetTaking out the battery but leaving in the AC adapter Please help, I do everything on this laptop. I have a TouchSmart (HP) Notebook - 15-r137wmHere is a screenshot

Hi , Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP TouchSmart Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Here is a link to computer won't start for Windows 8. Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

  • My hp pavilion dv7 entertainment notebook will not turn on

When i plug in the ac  adaptor all that happens is the 3 lights on the lower left blink. i belive they are the power, charge, and disk lights.
If i take out the battery, nothing happens.
I am using a charger for an hp pavilion dv4, it did previously turn on while using the same charger.
i have let it sit to see if it needed to charge, but it kept blinking.

    @britay49
Depending on what lights are flashing, that would be a pattern of 1 flash repeating, which would suggest a cpu problem.
If it is the power lights, and such as you suggested, then I would trouble shoot the power itself.
Using and Testing the AC Power Adapter
Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP)
AC Adapter Battery Charging Indicator LED Does Not Display Immediately When Plugged In
Improving Battery Performance (Windows 8, 7, Vista)
Take a look through those, and also try different power outlets and a different power adapter if you have one that is compatible. If none of that helps then you may wish to  call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • My g5 imac will not turn on and has a flashing white light

    Could somebody please advise me?
I tried to install RAM in my imac g5.
Unfortunately I purchased the wrong RAM so when I opened the bottom I took out the original RAM to compare the two and put the original (512mb) back in, closed the compartment and sealed the bottom with the two screws again.
When I tried to turn the imac back on the screen was blank and the white light in the bottom right hand corner was repeatedly flashing.
    Help...

I had the same issue.  Found another post that you need to push with surprising force with two thumbs.  I did so, felt a slight click; started it and we're golden.  Pulling the old RAM out though, I realized it has little tolerance for torque without jamming.  So save the force for when you are certain you are in straight.

  • Equiuim L300 - Will not turn on, seem to be no power

    Hello,
The laptop will not turn on and it seems to be no power going to the laptop at all. I belive that the power supply has come lose as when the charger is put into the port and pulled out their is a fair amount of movement. Is this and easy fix or shall i leave it to the professionals?

Im no way shape or form any good at computers but am willing to give this a try so would you recomend trying it or just not even risking it? I was just going to use the youtube to try and guide me though. The reason im so up for trying to fix it myself is due to the laptop not being mine. It was leant to me to use in a remote part of france to keep me sane so i want to fix it before i head back so i pretty much dont get my arsed kicked

  • I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 1100D which will not turn on.

I have a Canon EOS Rebel T3 1100D which will not turn on. Battery charger shows green light , but when installed camera will not turn on. Place battery back into charger and it shows yellow light and takes awhile to charge and show green light. I thought must need new battery but it does same thing. This camera has been trouble free from start, it is a few years old but didn't think i would have internal issuses already. Am i missing something? Ordered ac adapter to plug in direct and see if it works then. Any ideas would be helpful Thank you.

    Hi GP!
    Welcome to the Canon Forum.
If the camera still does not power on after using a new battery or after you try an AC adapter, the camera will need repair.  To start the repair process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.
Alternatively, you may participate in the Canon Loyalty Program.  This option allows you to replace your current camera for a discounted fee.  The original non-functioning camera would then be returned to Canon USA for recycling using a prepaid shipping label that would be provided.  If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (800) OK CANON (800-652-2666) seven days a week, 8am to Midnight.  Let them know you have been working with online technical support and the Canon Loyalty Program was offered.  Be sure to have your serial number for your camera at the time of your call.
