Hp Pavillion Entertainment PC Power

Hello, I have been holding onto my Hp Pavillion Entertainment PC for several years now. I had hoped I would figure out what to do with it. I bought 4 Hp laptops, the Entertainment was my own then I bought 3 Hp G60-127NR Notebooks for my oldest 3 children. We have had nothing but trouble out of all of them. First, Mine,
the power started going slowly, the battery just seemed to die quicker and quicker. I had only had it for maybe 5 months when this started. I contacted help through Hp, they told me to replace the battery, so I did. about 1 month later, my laptop was plugged in, turned on. I left it for about 20 minutes. I walked back into the room just as it powered off. I tried to turn it back on, nothing. I called HP, they said my warranty expired so they could not help me. This was my first computer, ever in my life. I have 6 children so I do not get to buy myself things often.
So I have been without a computer for the last several years until now, I bought a used HP from a pawn shop.
Anyway, one of my childrens teachers told me to contact HP becuase they are really good about taking care of their customers. I told her what happened with my experience and she said try again. So here I am.
I really did like my HP. I want to know if HP honors anyone that has purchased as many of their products as I have? My eldest son is having so much trouble with his, it overheats severely and he actually burnt his hand on his computer. My eldest daughter is frustrated because she is in college and her power does not last at all, she has lost many of her assignments because of this and it has affected her grades. She now refuses to even use it. I am considering buying her another laptop but I am just at a loss. I do not want to invest another dime into any at all. I have gotten no help from hP whatso ever. This is so discouraging. I cannot afford to buy myself another. Especially since I know have to find a way to purchase 6 more laptops of some sort for all of my children for their scholing.
Has anyone had any good experiences with HP? What should I do?

No audio / No sound following Vista SP2 install on HP DV4 (HP Pavillion Entertainment PC)

Solution: I struggled with this problem (no audio) for 4 days. After installing Vista SP2, all sound stopped coming from my HP DV4 laptop. (HP Pavillion Entertainment PC). I checked all settings, unloaded and reloaded SP2, reloaded all sound drivers (IDT) and tried the Microsoft "Fix It"... 50131. Nothing worked. Very frustrating. I happen to notice that the driver being loaded by the MS program was IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver 6.10.6209.0. I started to suspect this most recent driver was either loaded with SP2 or was incompatible with it. I noticed the HP Support web-site had a list of drivers specific to my machine. The sound driver was listed as IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Driver 6.10.6087.0, which appears to be an older version. I downloaded this driver, applied it, restarted the machine and voila!

This often occurs when you plug in an HDMI device, on my machine. Try manually setting the playback device:
Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
Select Playback Devices.
Right-click the audio device you want (i.e. Speakers)
Select Set as default device.
If this does not work, try logging in with an account that has administrative access. I discovered the wireless network can not be enabled by a non-administrative account, when it is disabled while logged in as an administrator. You have to go back to the admin account, enable wireless, and then log back to the other account.
Avoid updating your driver, unless the device no longer functions.

HP Pavillion DV4 1123us power adapter problem

Hi,
After using the HP Pavillion DV4 1123us for two years suddenly I noticed that the power adapter is not supplying power to the computer and it is making some not too loud repeatitive sound. I replaced the power adapter with HP 90W Smart Power Adapter which worked fine for a few weeks and then I noticed whenever I connect this to the wall outlet it makes some repeatitive chirping sound and this is also not suppying power to the computer anymore. It behaves like this even when it is not connected to the laptop which indicates that there is some problem with the adapter and not with the internal powers supply of the laptop. It is so surprising that the replacement power adapter stopped working so early.
In my home all the other laptops are working just fine and and found all of them are two pin - only these two are three pin. Not sure if this has gota anything to do with this fault.
Any help on this matter will be highly appreciated.

Where is enhance usb on Hp pavillion entertainment laptop

I have been trying to locate the enhanced usb port on my HP pavillion lap top. To charge my GPS faster, but I cant figure out which USB it is, does someone know the answer? Is there a way to tell by looking?

HP Pavilion dv6-1360us Entertainment PC power button broken, power button board removed for use.

After working on my wife's laptop for the last week and not being able to find &amp;quot;the&amp;quot; solution online, let alone a pic of the power button board. I thought I'd try to share my shortcut with anyone that can benefit from it and hopefully avoid unnecessary repairs and costs. Of course we don't want even more money going to HP for no reason.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The problem:&lt;br&gt;My wife was messing with our dog and a little pop splashed on and under the left front of the laptop. This was near the power button and underneath near the ram cover and vents. We unplugged the laptop and removed the battery as soon as I'd learned what happened. We dried it as best we could and after awhile started it back up. It started for shorter and shorter periods of time until it wouldn't start at all. I spent the next couple days trying all the forum solutions like holding the power button down, removing and inserting the battery and power supply ...blah, blah , blah. Eventually I came across somebody talking about the power button board. At this point the laptop with the battery only did nothing and had no lights, noise ...nothing. If the power supply was plugged in we had a light next to the plug and a front left panel light on. If the battery was removed and it was only the power supply we had only the light next to the power supply input. Everything i found said it was the motherboard or GPU. I feared the worst lol. I took it part for the 4th time and looked at the power button board and noticed the side of the power button itself had cracked all the way through. I decided i would try and start it without the power button board or cable connected instead of the shorting out process blogs were talking about.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The solution:&lt;br&gt;I removed the DVD drive, hard drive, ram, keyboard, bezel and hard drive then 1 by 1 added the DVD drive, ram, hard drive ...etc. and each time used the remote control to power on the laptop. It worked!!! Eventually I had everything back together with the power button board and cable completely removed and the laptop was up and running. I put some superglue on the cracked power button and plan to order a new power button board and cable along with a new bezel and power button if necessary but for now we've got everything working and all the important files she was working on at the time have been recovered. I did pull the hard drive the first day and put it in a portable USB shell and copy all the files to our backup drive. Anyway if the same kind of things are happening to yours at least you won't have to go thru everything i did. Good luck and i probably won't be back very often if at all to reply to any questions or to be told how i could've done it easier/more efficiently.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Power2dapeeps! lol

Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
IDT Audio Driver - Windows 7.
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again and check if the mute led now changes colour correctly.

Loss of Sound HP Pavillion Entertainment Laptop DV6820ea

Hi,
Operating System:  Windows Vista
Sound Driver :         Conextant High Definition Smart Audio 221 (SPDIF INTERFACE)
Other Programmes: I Tunes
Problem :     Sudden loss of sound, I have tried the obvious such as is the touch sensitive mute switched off and the volumes switched on . I did briefly have my i-touch connected via USB but don't remember doing anything other than connecting and disconnecting the USB cable. Then there was no sound. I have also tried via control panel testing the devices and the speaker test works correctly but other than this I am unable to get any sound from the laptop. I did find, although I can't remember where, next to a I-tunes file name yellow triangles but was unabe to delete. This will probably be a very obvious and simple solution! but I would greatly appreciate any help!    many thanks

Dv6928us HP Pavillion Entertainment Laptop - Windows 7 Compatibility?

With Windows 7 reaching RTM, I wanted to know whether anyone had seen driver issues that may prevent a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro (32bit) from functioning correctly.
Is anyone here aware of any hardware conflicts, or hardware that would not work correctly?
I plan on backing up everything before I make the attempt of course, but wanted to get a heads up as to issues.
For instance, does Windows 7 include drivers for the WebCam that is part of the system?
The aim of starting fresh is so that I can install only the software I require, without the additional support options provided by HP.
I already have the latest BIOS updates.

That only issues I have heard of are the webcam possibly not working and the QuickLaunch buttons above the keyboard.

No sound HP Pavillion Entertainment PC Laptop Vista 64 bit

I can't unmute it! My laptop has a mute button and volume control on the top edge of the key board just under the monitor. I have updated the audio driver. Twice! But I can't unmute the sound. I can access the settings. When the dialog box first comes up it shows three functions muted. I can play with the settings and mouse click on the mute buttons in the dialog box and slide the volume control bars up. But it has no actual effect. When I look at other settings tabs the sliders and buttons return to muted settings.

I have Vista 32 bit operating system and my notebook is a DV6-1107AX.
I have already unstalled and reinstalled the IDT driver and it's still not working.

I understand your audio does not work correctly after a Microsoft update. Here is a document on undoing the update. You can restore it to a previous time when it was working correctly.

Hello, didnt really know hwere to post this guess it more belong under like "computers" generally,
but! For a while...
(-THE LONGER VERSION) :
No whait!, let me start where it all began, 2009, a december (erhh.. iii think? Hwatever!) litlle me hwere nearly Totally blank to the computer world. And suddenly it stood there on the table, a shining (it was shining back there) new "hp pavillion entertainment pc" with its smell of fresh plastic mixed hwith the strong smell from the cardboardbox, remember it as if it were yesterday
... Since then.... I have today a good solid pc knowing! (at more advance level cmd,bott menu, recovery, blah, blah... NERD!) here at the last awhile, ive prommised to make a lot! A lot of video projects!
(okay 2, but some big ones!) avchd multilayer 2 hours!!!!
So the poor hp laptop -dual core i2 4gb ram, has been begged to it knees! And simply cant handle it of course! and it have just trough time benn loaded with lots of crap, and is extremly noisy, heat, slow, anoying = unusable!
SO hwat i need is...
(-THE SHORTER) :
A computer setup that will EASILY! could handle stuff like that (avchd, multilayer, 2 hours project) -and simmilar. A total power machine! But Im tired of windows! And ugly cheap looking design! The times have changed and i change with them!
NOW I WANT APPLE!!
But but but... Hwat should i get????
1. Im NOT a billionare!
2. I repeat: NOT a billionare!
3. I also need portability for every day use beyond the hardcore creative editing and use

If no, what would all of you then suggest that is perfect in relation to everything?

Unless you know for sure that you are not going to use temporal effects or render to a codec that works with MP rendering turned on (Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously) then turn it off. It's better than it was in previous versions but still can cause tremendous delays and even system hangups if you throw in an incompatible effect or render to an incompatible codec.
Set your ram used by other applications to an even number in the top field -- always, and if you do decide to use MP rendering I have a question about your choice for ram allocation there. How many processors are "Actually Used?" I'm getting zero for Other Applications and Zero for AE. You need to change things here. If you cannot allocate an even number of CPU's to AE then don't bother. If you are going to use MP rendering - run a bunch of tests when you have processors assigned to the process and you are leaving at least 2 to other apps and the minimum RAM assigned in MP is an even number. Otherwise, throw 2 or 4 GB of your available ram to other apps at the top and turn off MP.
The location of your disk cache can be anywhere you like. I always pick a big fast drive with lots of space that is not the same as my system drive or the source footage drive unless I have no other options.

I know i haven't set either of them but i can't get passed this screen or even into the BIOS.
After 3 fails I get system disable

DVD/CD drive not working no matter what - pavillion dv6812nr entertainment

Hi! I'm posting this in a new thread because I can't seem to find anyone else with my specific problem.
So I got my brother's hand-me-down HP pavillion entertainment notebook, and the disc drive will not open (except for a 10-second window while the laptop is starting up). Even when I manage to get a disc in there, my computer isn't reading it or even acknowledging that the disc drive exists. I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling, but the problem is that I can not even find the DVD/CD device in the Device Manager--it's just not there. I also tried this solution: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461 , however when i am in the correct registry subkey, there are no UpperFilters or LowerFilters.
Please help, I just bought a music recording box and software and really need this fixed!

I grasp that your optical drive is not being recognized in your computer. Here is a link to CD/DVD Drive Is Not Detected (Windows Vista). As the link in your post was to a microsoft document for Vista, I assume that is what you were running.

Replacing Power Supply 200w ATX-1956D with 1956F

HP Pavillion 873n, replacing power supply have extra adapter. Looks like newer replacement has been slightly modified. Where do I plug this 3 pin femare adapter ?or do I leave it unplugged?

I would venture to say that your 3pin female adapter should be plugged into a 3pin male adapter on your motherboard. This allows your system to control fan speed on the power supply. I hope this helps you.

No,
the MacPro is the muscle machine and not constrained by power or cooling limitations like the MacBoo Pro is.
OR AT LEAST BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR REALLY HEAVY STUFF?
If you press the MacBook Pro like a desktop machine, it will blow fans like a hurricane but will do the job eventually.
The longer you blow fans on a laptop, the sooner it clogs up with crippling dust and shortens the life of the machine.
You'll need the top end 15" or better, not the 13" as it has no dedicated graphics, only CPU graphics.
Preferably if you just now getting into video, you should be considering Avid on a Windows 7 tower, it's because Apple has been ignoring the MacPro for hardware updates to improve it and it seems like they don't want to carry it anymore. Also the last Final Cut Pro version had Hollywood up in arms as Apple removed a lot of required abilities to make it more "consumer friendly" which upset the Pro market who likes control.
Apple is focusing on the consumer computing market and getting away from the "Pro" market which needs the heavier hardware to handle video needs. They stopped selling the X-RAID and the X-Server, so Apple really isn't a "computer" company any longer.
Sure you can use a MacBook Pro and a external monitor for doing home movies and such occasionally, but if your into serious production you need to consdier other options now.
There is nothing wrong in getting a MacBook Air and a Windows 7 professional video tower too.
