  • (2) Lenovo B575 Windows wont start

bought lenovo b575 last week in Bestbuy as a gift for my father-in-law. Since it was on sale, I decided to get one for my self too. Both laptops were working the way they suppose to work until yesterday, mine turns on but  windows wont open, and then i recieved a call from my father-in-law saying the same thing happen to his laptop..
Any idea? Is this a common problem w/ lenovo?  Not even a week old from the date  purchased...Should I call Lenovo or Bestbuy w/ this kind of issue?
    Thanks

  • I Tunes for WIndows wont start after upgrade to 8.0.1

I recently upgraded to iTunes 8.0.1.11. After upgrade, if for some reason I need to reboot my computer iTunes will not start. It took forever to finally figure out what it was. I couldn't sync my iPod, could not get on to iTunes , etc. I finally had to try to uninstall Bonjour to make it come up. The problem is that I can never fully uninstall Bonjour. It says I do not have sufficient privileges. It will be ok until I have to reboot again or turn off my computer. I then have to try to uninstall bonjour to make it come up again. Is there a fix for this bug so I don't have to go through the same procedure every time I reboot?

As far as the sufficient privileges go.
You may wish to temporarily disable User Access Control (UAC)
This should then give you permission to complete the uninstall process like you have been doing. Also ensure you are an Administrator user on the account. That right away will cause the message to appear if you are not.
You want to ensure this gets turned back on if you do not have adequate security protection such as
    -Firewall Software
    -Anti Virus Software
    -Spyware/Adaware Software
To Turn UAC off in the easiest way possible
    -Launch Control Panel
    -Launch User Accounts
In this Window you will see an option called "Turn User Access Control ON/OFF" Click on this. A simple pop up window will appear. If it has a check mark in the box. Un-check it. Reboot. UAC is now off.
Windows security will notify you of this. Feel free to ignore it while you try to uninstall again. Repeat the steps above to turn it back on when you are ready.
By any chance have you tried a Basic Uninstall of Apple Software? and then Run the iTunes Setup file in Administrator Mode?

  • Windows wont start?

Hello i was wonderin if anyone can help me, when Windows XP tries to load, I get the following message: "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." My options are:
    Start in safe mode.
    Safe mode with networking.
    Safe mode with command prompt.
Last known good configuration setting (most recent setting that worked).
    Start Windows normally.
I cant use my laptop. I have no idea what happened, i was just working on microsoft excel and the laptop just knocked itself off. Sometimes when i try to restart it again windows loads to a certain point but then knocks itself back off again. I have an up to date norton 07 and spyware detector.
    Can anyone help?

When i select any of the options it loads for a few seconds and then knocks off again so i cant access windows at all. The prblem is that there is stuff on the hard drive that i need. I was given a disc 'knoppix' a linux os that runs directly from the disc and was told i might be able to run this dvd on my own laptop and connect it to another laptop to save the files i need onto that one before reinstalling windows.
Do you know how to do this?

  • Windows wont start up

    Hi,
Just bought a new Imac in the last week and am already having trouble getting Windows 7 (which installed perfectly on my '08 Macbook) to get going.
I install everything without any problem at all, during the install the Mac restarts a few times - no problem. The issue is, once the install is finished (when i have just set the time and date ready to begin) Windows says 'Welcome' and then 'Shutting Down'... I assume ready for one final restart. When it loads back up it says "press any key to boot from disc" which i leave for it to boot straight into Windows. But it doesn't. It does nothing. Even if i try to press a key to go back in to the disc it does nothing. If i manually reboot using the option key and try loading windows it will just sit there with a flashing underscore on the same black screen. (I seem to remember it doing this for a while the first time i booted windows on my macbook, with the exception, this one never loads)
I though my problem was to do with my bluetooth keyboard/ mouse not doing anything due to the lack of drivers but i've tried with a USB keyboard and mouse to no avail.
On my 3rd install now and it's getting a little frustrating. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Martyn

Hooray! For anyone that has this problem too, here's the solution that worked for me:
    Solution 3:
If you applied solution 2 and you still have problems, try the steps below.
Solution 2 will make the Windows 7 DVD have the option "Repair your computer" for those who can't see it.
    Repair startup issues
    1. Put the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start your computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then 4. click Next.
    5. Click Repair your computer.
    6. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
7.In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
Type (these commands are safe - more information)
    Code: Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
    Code: Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
    Code: Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
    Press ENTER after each command.
    Restart your computer.
That should do the trick! However if you still can't start Windows, then follow step 1 to 6 again and type these commands.

Windows will not start, Runs Startup Repair, but says that it cannot automatically fix the problem.

Does that mean you have access to the Windows Recovery Environment?
If so, open a command prompt, run this, and let us know what message you get.

  • Windows wont start, Recovery Disk asking for another disk, only can with 2

My son was surfing the web when IE stopped responding.  Window would not close so he held the power button until the laptop shut off.  When he tried to start laptop again, could only get as far as the windows loading bar, but it would not load.  After unsuccessfully trying a StartUp Repair we used the Recovery & Application Disk, holding down the C. After it appeared to run succesfully we got a boot manager missing error.  So we tried the Recovery Disk again.  Now it just continues to ask for additional disk but the Recovery Disk set is only two disk set.  This is a L305-s5875 Satellite that we have had for about 11 months.  If anyone has any suggestions we would greatly appreciate it.

Try cleaning disk with alcohol, with soft tissue paper. That is what i did to get disk to work.
Also try and hit start and F12 and then change boot menue to Cd/Dvd insted of hardrive
and then hold down c or try without holding down ckey.As a last try start cimputer and hold
gown the statr buton and 0 (ie zero)  together for 1 min and see what happens.
           Yours trily ,

  • Equium L40 - Windows wont start, message on screen

    Hi
    I have a Toshiba Equium L40 - 17M.
Recently when updating my virus protection my computer tried to restart but now wont load properly.
Now everytime i try to switch the computer on, after the initial Toshiba setup screen I am greeted with the following message in the top left corner of the screen.
    A disk read error occured
Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart.
However, this message just appears again!
    Any suggestions please!?

It could be a file system corruption problem, in which case you can connect the HDD to another PC and run CHKDSK on the drive.
If that's no help, then check the HDD for bad sectors using the Advanced Test in Hitachi DFT (Google is your friend)
Or you can try running Recovery from your Recovery Discs. This will format the HDD, so you will need to backup your data first if its still there (you can use a USB 2.5" HDD Adapter).
If you really need your data back, there are Data Recovery programs you can download to search the HDD for the lost files.

Is the message that the printer is offline?
Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.
If not then check the USB cable between the computer and printer and reseat it if necessary.

  • Windows 8 wont start after format

    Hello,
So i decided to format my pc for the first time since i build it, i did everything as usual but it wont start, tried the way xmad posted but its the same, im using the same iso i used the first time, after the installer says its going to restart to complete the instalation, the pc reboots and then nothing happens, i can move the mouse pointer but the screen is black, this happens when i boot from the hard drive with the prefix "UEFI".
if i boot from the hard drive without the prefix "UEFI" i can see the windows 8 logo loading but then its the same black screen.
    PC specs:
    i7 4770k
    Msi z87 mpower max
    120gb ssd
    16gb ram
    850w psu
    radeon hd7970
    Any ideas?

No i didnt update the bios.
Update: I got a copy of windwos 8.1 and tried installing it the same way and it worked(still havent updated the bios).
i dont know what was the problem with win8, i dont know if the iso file got corrupted which is very rare since i used it like 2 weeks ago in another pc, it cannot be the usb stick (i used the same usb stick to install win 7 and 8.1) and also tried installing it from a dvd.
I think im going to stay with this windows, thanks for replying.

  • LenovoS10-3t Ideapad; Want to clean install Windows XP,current version:Windows7starter wont start

Hello!  This is my first time visiting this forum, nice to meet you all.  I have a LenovoS10-3t laptop that I purchased maybe 2 years or so ago, and have since bought myself a newer/faster laptop.  I now let my son use the Lenovo for playing games, mostly World of warcraft and facebook things.  The laptop is ridiculously slow, and has gotten even more so lately.  It's been years since I've tinkered with anything technical, so I absent-mindedly decided to do a spur of the moment 'One-click-recovery' thinking it would restore the laptop to the condition it was in when I purchased it.... well several minutes into this recovery there was an error (I didn't save the code, not sure what happened...) and upon restarting the laptop, windows cannot start any longer!  I receieve an error:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  (pic1)
They want me to insert the windows installation disk, which obviously didn't come with the laptop (remember, windows 7 starter edition)  So my motherinlaw says she has a WindowsXP SP2 CD brand new at her house that I can have! Great!  So I pop it in, boot up the laptop, change the BIOS to boot from USB drive CD (this particular laptop doesn't have a disk drive, so I have a USB external disk drive);  Press F12 for boot menu; Press any key to boot from CD;  Then a blue screen appears: Windows Setup. Setup is loading files (random files appearing in parenthesis)..... Then after 2-3 minutes: Setup is starting windows.... then a blue screen appears: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.  If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.  If this screen appears again follow these steps: Check for viruses on your computer.  Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.  Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.  Technical Information:  *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7A8B524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
If anyone has any information or ideas to help me, basically I don't want to save/restore anything on the harddrive, I just want to wipe it clean and start fresh, hopefully with this windows XP since it's a 'full version' of windows compared to the old windows 7 starter.... so that way it's a faster more efficient laptop for my son to play his games on... Thanks in advance for any help/info/points in the right direction.  Hopefully I gave enough information, I'm not great with computers these days so I tried not to leave anything out! =)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    kellyabobbyc, welcome to the forum,
the 7B error message you are receiving is due to the fact that XP doesn't have the SATA driver necessary for it to recognise the hard disc properly and continue with the installation.
One of the methods of getting around this problem would be to set the SATA mode to compatability in BIOS, the XP disc will then recognise the hard drive properly.
    Hope this helps
