Download and run CPU-z. Go to the Mainboard tab.
There is another identifier for your notebook. Look on the barcoded sticker on the bottom of your notebook. Please post number 2.
For part number GH839EAR the system board (motherboard) is HP p/n: 434660-001

  • TX1000 Touchscreen not working and driver possibly missing

The touchscreen on my HP Pavillion TX1000 has not been working for a quite a while and now I want to fix it.
I've read previously on this forum that other people have managed to solve this problem by updating/rolling back the driver called HX2LP.
I have looked in the Device Manager and the driver is not there so I cannot roll it back or update it. I do not know much about drivers etc so I do not know what I should do, can I download the driver? Im not sure how these things work or even if you can download a driver.
Below is the post i read about how a similar issue was solved.
"I was able to get them working again by rolling back the HX2LP driver in device manager. The device driver rolls back to a Microsoft driver, not Cypress. The optional Cypress windows update was published on 2/25/2009."
    Thank you in advance,
    Lawrence

I just got off the phone with a new case manager named Jamie 1-877-917-4380 ext 93 regarding new case number 7501359724, and of course just what I expected he would say, HP has no known issue with the tx series and no issue with the Nvidia 6150 chip.  He said that its just a coincidence that 1000's and 1000's of owners have experienced overheating motherboards.  That despite the same symptoms of other hp laptops and their recall proceding a huge lawsuit with Nvidia admitting they had sold hp defective chips, the tx/ 6150 nvidia was not one of the defective chips.  After reading the lawsuit details I found that Nvidia never released a list of the exact defective chips just that there were some, and then settled with hp.  Hp for some reason or another made a list of the so called defective ones and left many of the additional defective ones including the tx series/ Nvidia 6 series chips off the list.  Maybe there are not as many of us that own it, so as a business move they felt they could get away with this, or maybe because the failure typically hits a month or two after warranty expires.  I even looked up the chip by itself and found that the same Nvidia 6150 chip was used in certain Dell notebooks and had an issued recall relating to its defect.  Yet Jamie from Hp clearly stated that there is no known defect and that I would need to pay 400.00 USD and get the mother board replaced. I told him that I wasn't going to do that, why would I spend 400 dollars to have a new defective mother board intsalled to fail again.  He assured me that it wouldn't be an issue because the new mother boards have a different set of chips due to the issue with the old chip.  What is that about?  Does he think I am stupid, they say there is no defect in that chip, so they wont take responsability but they admit there is an issue with the chip, what is the difference?  They change the word defect with issue and that excuses them from any liability in providing a product capable of delivering expectations and quality of its class.  I personally wont settle for this. I wont settle for less than a refund or a new equall value notebook free from defect with an extended warranty.  To all of you others with this model of notebook i suggest you do the same, don't give up on your right to defend your hard earned money.  Look up Nvidia 6 series chips and you will find many companies that have disclosed its defect and taken responsability to their product owners.  Hp needs to do the same. Shame on HP  I had to edit this because they keep deleting my posts to cover up there secret, you can try and follow the trouble shooting tips, but it wont work, your monitor is not broken, the graphics card has burned up and is killing your mother board.  A company invested a lot of money only to realize they can either lose a lot more money or they can brush it under the rug at the expense of their customers, and so they try to sustain profitability, by hiding the truth.  I suggest you buy a msi netbook, it has no frills but I promiss it will last, msi knows how to make a strong motherboard and stand by their products, no use in buying a fancy computer when it will only tease you with 13mons of life.  I am sorry that myself and all of you put your hard money and trust into a product that was probably knowingly doomed before it was even sold to us. Just remember that in this economy even a large company that you think you can trust can't be trusted, MONEY trumps the consumer!!

  • Pavilion tx1000 Tablet PC (tablet buttons not functioning)

    Hello,
I recently changed my operating system from a Windows Vista to Windows 7 (64-bit), for my HP Pavilion tx1000. After that change, the stylus has been sort of off. More importantly, when I turn the lid/screen, the screen image does not auto rotate anymore. Also, the tablet buttons do not work.
I'm no expert. I tried to go the Control Panel and every time I try to change the Tablet settings for the buttons, it tells me there's no functioning driver..
I went online, and I tried to install the 'Quick Launch buttons' driver (among others), but the most recent ones online for my PC are  for Vista, and that doesn't work.
    What else can I try?

Should be able to answer your own question by physically trying to rotate the blades with a thin tool or blowing into the blades & if bearings good it should rotate easily.
bearings fail, fan motor/boards fail, mainboard control & power can also fail !
Most modern equipment has almost no real effort in proper thermal control so some modifications may help but you will be limited in what is achievable on a finished product.
Here in Asia we have done a lot of notebook cooling mod combo's such as vent increases, thermal shims, quality thermal grease & secondary 25 to 30mm 5v case venting fans with internal porting & baffles to help good airflow/heat extraction with great results in reducing overheating & component failure ...
Should be done at the factory !

  • HP Pavilion TX1000 Tablet PC - Replacing the fan (Qs and my plan of attack)

Alright, so I finally got my HP Pavilion TX1000 tablet PC that I mentioned about when I asked a week or two ago about the 3G module. It works quite well, even if it does show it's age, I'm happy with it. One thing I noticed about it was that it heats up quite a lot when sitting idle.
The buyer noted in his listing that the fan might need replacing. It turns out that the system is cooking itself since it doesn't have any exhaust fan sucking the heat out of the vents as the fan is seized. This means when the laptop gets around 70*C, the BIOS safety temperature watchdog kicks in and kills the laptop until the laptop's internal thermal sensor has detected a safe temperature. Judging from Speedfan readings before the laptop shut down, this overheating issue popped it's head up around 70*C.
I got a friend to drop in his MacBook cooler that he uses, and I have it plugged into a USB socket. It is keeping the HP Tablet in a safe (but still warm) 60*C-ish temperature rage. I also got a portable AA-battery powered fan and aimed the fan at the vents, which meant I was "blasting" cool air into the vents. This kept the system down around 45 - 50*C.
I took the laptop apart partially (well, not a complete teardown but enough to see it's fan when it's switched on to see if it's spinning, and I can confirm the fan is not spinning at all, not even when the CPU is really hot, it's just stationary. I looked around and didn't see any wires stuck in the fan or anything, so I'm assuming the fan is seized up (or burnt out).
I've ordered this replacement fan off eBay for my tablet. Spare part number matches apparently: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/300749320112 .
Now, my question is, is it possible that laptop fans can be seize up in rare events? Don't shun me away and say "Oh no, it would never happen", because fans are moving parts and could seize up if subjected to a lot of heat. I know the TX1000 series are known for overheating woes, so I'm going to ask you this - In your experience, have you seen fans failing, and if so, could a seized motor be the cause?
I am going to follow this guide once the fan arrives (http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/hewlett-packard/8875-modding-tx1000-part-1-changing-thermal-compound...) because I heard that black paint on the heatsink assembly does nothing to help keep the CPU cool, and if I remove it, I can get a 5 - 10*C CPU temperature droppage. Which is good because I don't want it to be burning my hands if I'm using it to jot notes down!
Alright, so that's my plan of attack. Suggestions? Opinions? Encouragement?

Should be able to answer your own question by physically trying to rotate the blades with a thin tool or blowing into the blades & if bearings good it should rotate easily.

  • Memory Upgrade on my 790FX-GD70 (MS-7577) Board

Hi, I'm new on here and a sliver surfer, so please be gentle with me. I've been building computers for a few years now, I started back in 2001 when I had to retire from work because of medical problems (I am confined to a wheelchair) instead of letting it get me down I started to read books on building my own PC. I have built 6 in that time and all are still working well, however, my knowledge is still limited.
So I have a question I would like to ask you, I've been trying to upgrade the memory on my motherboard a 790FX-GD70 board. From Corsair Dominator DDR3 Part No TW3X4G16009D 4Gb, X2 2Gb Modules 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 1.8 volts ver1.1. To Corsair XMS3 DDR3 Part No: CMX16GX3M2A1333C9 16Gb, 2X8Gb Modules 1333MHz 9-9-9-24 1.50volts ver8.21. But I have had a problem, when I install 1 X 8Gb module into slot 1 the PC seems to run fine, but when I install the second 8Gb module into slot 2 my system is very unstable and I get the blue screen of death.
I have been advised that the maximum Gb per dimm slot is 4Gb is that correct? or is it my BIOS that needs updating? if so that is something that I will not try myself I will have to get an expert in to help with that.
    Please can anyone help me.
    Thanks in advance, Steve.
    My System:

    Hi Wooly,
I have gone through what you suggested but I had no luck running the 16GB (2X8GB Modules). So I went out today and I bought from my local PC Store a new kit of 16GB of DDR3 16GB (4X4GB Modules) 1600MHz and clocked them at 1333MHZ and set the voltage to 1.65, booted up my system and all's fine. The system has been running all afternoon and it is now stable.
Thank you all for your help in resolving this issue for me, it has saved me a lot of time messing around.

i try to disable a onboard graphic on BIOS,but i not find it.

You do not need to disable the onboard.
As for the plug-in card, there is nothing in the BIOS to make it work 8x or 16x.
Make sure your card is seated correctly, else it will work but at lower number of lanes.
What program is telling you it's 8x?

Is there a way of connecting the ipad to the smart board in the classroom, so that the smartboard is the control, and the ipad is displaying what is on the smartboard? This is to help a visually impaired child see what is on the smartboard.

    Absolutely!
Install Splashtop2 on the PC and enable it to be controlled or ran from iPad or Reflection to simply allow iPad to serve as PC unwired monitor. With Splashtop and an Apple TV connected, you use the smartboard as usual, yet the PC and iPad can see the same content. The impaired child can even interact with the Smart Board via the iPad as if he were writing directly on the big screen. Erasing functions can be done by touching the Smart Board manual controls. Several variables are in play that cause this lack of functionality:
Apple won't permit PC software that infringes its proprietary apps.
Smart Board companies refuse to develop iPad apps because they feel threatened and are being replaced by iPads
School districts think Apple TV is meant for copyright infringement and could expose them to safe harbor lawsuits
Network administrators make it impossible to login Apple TVs because they don't want the streaming occurring
Classrooms are not able to keep up with the technology of using the iPad
Clicker companies refuse to play with iPad because they see it as a potential threat to their core business clients
Apple is not working as hard as it could to exploit its capabilities in education, thus losing money in iPad sales
The bottom line is that we educators and technology developers are hurting our childern with petty conflicts.

  • MRS (Multi Resource Scheduling) - Show operation status in Planning Board

Because the current MRS thread is some long and complicated I chose to move this question into a seperate thread:
    Initial question:
Like many companies, it is not unusual at my customer for their Planners to create orders with multiple operations, particularly since many orders require different crafts to perform the work. When the Planning Board is launched and Planners lok at work scheduled for the past week they want to be able to see at a glance which operations have been completed and which operations, perhaps from the same order, have not and may need to be rescheduled. Their preference is to select "final confirmation" when using transaction IW41 and thereby set the operation system status to CNF when the work on an operation has been completed. They then want to somehow use this CNF operation status to drive something visual in the graphical Demand layout display and Resource layout display to enable the Planner to see at a glance that the operation has been completed. I've tried several approaches with configuration of abstract statuses and the user interface profile without success. My customer's interest in being able to see the completion status of an operation in the MRS Planning Board makes a lot of sense to me. I'm hoping someone can help me with a technique for modifying the Planning Board so that it displays the completion status of an operation in a visual way.
    Response from Varun Verma:
    Hi Mark,
The problem at your customers end is nothing new.
What you can do ( many other customers have done it in similar way ) is:
    1) you integrate the status CNF into MRS.
Check the customizing: Basic Settings -> Assign ERP Objects -> Status
    2) configure in MRS that for status CNF, the assignments and demands (only in item work list or Hotlist) is colored to GREEN (or any other color)
Check customizing: Set Up Scheduler Workplace -> Workplace Profiles -> Define User Interface Profiles
Thus the users will know visually, that the green colored assignments are already completed.
By the way, in your work list you can also filter the demands based on their status
    Regards
    Varun.
    Followup question:
    Varun,
Thanks for the response.  I thought I had tried this but perhaps it's because in the UI profile I had not entered something in both the status groups for assignments and the status groups for demands.  I have a bit more testing to do but it appears that the demand status now gets updated from the operation status of PCNF (linked to abstract status WORK_START) and CNF (linked to abstract status WORK_STOP).  I also get a red bar (C4) for PCNF and a green bar (C1) for CNF.  Do you have a better status group I should be using in place of C1 and C4?  Status groups C1 and C4 give me a bar but it doesn't look like the demand bar with a outline and alphanumeric description of the demand, it's just a colored bar.
I know the work list can be filtered based on their MRS "planning" status, however, it doesn't appear to permit filtering by the status of the operation unless I add the operation status as an additional field in the worklist.  Is there something I'm missing here?  And even if it did, my customer wants to be able to see the CNF status indication in the Demand layout and schedule using the work centers so the worklist is not being shown like it is in the Resource layout.

Edited by: Mark Scott on Aug 10, 2009 3:35 PM

    Hi Mark,
Well I assumed that you have confirmations integration active !! But I guess not because you say that the status is not integrated always.
    What you need to do:
    1) I assume you have SP05 or later.
    2) Implement the user exit: CONFPM05. In the implementation of this exit you need to call FM: /MRSS/RSG_PM_ORDER_CONFIRM
    3) Go to customizing: Basic Settings --> Assign ERP Objects --> Status
-- Here, define an abstract status (MRS Status) for confirmed and partially confirmed
-- map it to R3 status CNF and PCNF.
After this, whenever you enter confirmation for PM order from transaction IW41, the status will be integrated.
Now you can use the MRS statuses defined in step 3 to configure the colors.
Implementing the user exit CONFPM05 might require some technical input. But it is easy. Just a few double clicks and copy paste.
Contact an ABAP developer for the same.
    This should solve your issue.
    Regards

  • New MBP logic board and wireless internet does not work anymore

    hi there
i had to change the logic board in my only 2 years old MBP15". i purchased a new one and put it in by myself (relatively easy task). i still use the same internal HD as this one still works fine, so all data are the same.
however, the new logic board has obviously a different "identity" from my old one, it came with a sticker which says "ethernet ID 001FF3513E7A" which is different from before. this may be the reason i can still access my wireless network at home, but the self assigned IP address prevents me from connecting to the internet. all settings are as before and it worked always without a problem.
all settings were "automatic" before (using DHCP), and i use exactly the same settings again, but no success. i have to add that i use a new mac mini in the same network with absolutely identical settings (automatic) and this one receives a free IP address from the router (which is only in the last number different from the router's), but the MBP shows a totally different IP address.
i could finally fix it switching to "manual" and adding the same IP address the mini is using and just changed the last number, which has to be different from the time capsule i use as wireless device and the mini. like this everything works just fine.
but why does the mac mini perform everything automatic and the MBP (even with the new ethernet ID - and especially since i connect wireless and not using ethernet) is not able to do so?
i worry if i want to use the internet in any wifi hot spot i may run into troubles...
any idea what the difference between these two machines (with identical settings) is?
    thanks and cheers

Thank you. It didn't work unfortunately :((

  • Exporting all art boards from a document with only one art board adds -01 to filename in cs4!!! GRRR

    Hi all,
I love the new multiple art boards feature but where is the logic when you only have one art board? It gets re-named with an -01.
    picture.png becomes picture-01.png
This is really frustrating because the old crop marks system is gone and oh well it is just frustrating.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    He cheryl,
Thanks for your reply, but then i can't use the art board to crop the image... there is always transparent space around the artwork.

  • How to view individual art board in Bridge CS4?

    Hi.
Can somebody tell me how to configure the Adobe Bridge CS4 so that it shows/views/displays individual art boards (that I can scroll thru) and NOT the whole *.ai file (which contains ALL the art boards)?
I want to preview the individual art boards as a larger image, and when they all appear together in the *.ai file, they appear smaller.
At the bottom of this page:
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/illustrator/articles/lrvid4016_ai.html
    it says;
"To view documents, open Adobe Bridge and select an Illustrator document from the Content panel. A larger view of the document appears in the Preview panel located to the right of the Content panel. When viewing an Illustrator file with multiple artboards, click the right-facing arrow below the preview to display each of the artboards."
I do not have this arrow, so therefore no option. On my bridge, all artboards appear together. How do I separate them and get the arrow he is talking about?
    TIA.

Interesting, looks like you also need to save the file with Create PDF Compatible File checked in the Illustrator options dialog when saving - the sample files were saved without PDF compatibility, so no individual artboard preview.
I resaved the sample file In the Cradle of the Deep with Create PDF Compatible File checked, and it shows the artboard previews individually.
