HP Photosmart 1315 (not the PSC)

Have not been able to get this printer working correctly since I purchased my Imac. I have a USB connect and a parallel to usb connection if need be. I have used the Gutenprint driver and the other one hpijs with updated ghostscript etc, etc,. The closest i have come to functionality is with the hpijs driver connected via usb, my docs would go into the print queue and then they would print if I restarted the IMAC. Any help would be appreciated. As a last question if this is a dead end with no good answer, what would be a good printer (brand, model , etc) for connecting to this Imac and potentially to a macbook (via network for this, or via network for both if possible). Thanks.

That printer has not had any updated drivers since 2005... which is before Leopard shipped. It is an older printer (it even supports OS 9/Classic!) and I suspect that like many other older printers it is simply no longer supported by HP and may not work in Leopard. If the previous suggestion to download the latest HP driver megapack didn't work, then this means that HP _NO LONGER SUPPORTS YOUR PRINTER_ and you will have to use 3rd-party drivers (if you can find any) or get another printer.
When HP stopped supporting my printers, I got replacements... from Brother.
The HP PS 1315 is on the list of supported printers at <http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php>, so that set of 3rd-party drivers should work. It is also listed as being supported at <http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs>, so those drivers should work, too. Please note that the HPIJS drivers are mostly written by HP personnel. Exactly why HP declines to use them is something you'd have to ask HP.
Personally I'd get a new printer. Which is what I did. I just made sure that it wasn't from HP.

    I see you are having issues scanning. I'd like to help!
    Are you able to make a copy as opposed to a scan?
    Do you have any errors come up when scanning?
    I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
    I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • My photosmart 8250 prints the headings & color blocks on the diagnostic pages, but not the text.

    My photosmart 8250 suddenly stopped printing ( I have Windows 7). The cartridges have ink & there are no error mssgs. The self-test disgnostic prints the headings, borders & color blocks, but not the text under each heading. I ran the diagnostic utility & it said there were too many print jobs (?) and I cancelled them as directed.I re-ran the test & It  said there were no problems found. But it still isn't printing. I went to the control panel and ran THAT diagnostic & it said it found some problem with the USB connection, but that it was resolved. But, it STILL won't print.  I tried everything the diagnostic utility suggested - uninstalled and reinstalled the updated  software & driver, restarted the computer, etc. and it still won't print.

    Hi - Try following the steps in this document.  It will walk you through cleaning the rollers, which in many cases is the cause of this type of problem.

  • Printing to a wireless networked Photosmart 1315

    I am trying to setup my macbook to print to my HP Photosmart 1315 which is a shared printer on my XP Pro desktop.
    The driver is not included with the OS X CD, and the driver from HP doesn't include any options for network printing.
    If I add the printer, it gets added as a generic print, and it simply prints blank pages or jargon. At least the printer responds at this point.
    If I install the driver from the HP website, it doesn't seem to help. You have the option of locating a file when you select the type of printer you have, but the HP driver file is just a disk image.
    Does anyone have any suggestions. I just started using a Mac 3 days ago, so I'm a little unfamiliar, but I'm loving it. If I can get my printer to work, I'll be smitten.

    Try the generic Photosmart driver HP Photosmart P1100, Gimp-Print, that is included with OS X.

  • IMac, Leopard, and an HP Photosmart 1315

    This is my first Mac and I can't believe I can't even get a printer installed.
    I have a HP Photosmart 1315 printer that I can not get to print. I have tried the native OSX drivers, the HP drivers, and 3rd party 'guten' drivers with no luck. It recognizes the printer, looks like it is starting to print, gets to 7% and then goes to "GenericClass: Waiting for device" and just sits there. Now, if I use the HP Utility that installed with the HP drivers I can print test pages, see how much ink is left, calibrate, everything. I just can't get it to print any documents.
    Does anyone have one of these printers working on their iMac?

  • HP Photosmart 6510 not printing black after cartridge cchange

    I see the issue of not being able to print in black after a black cartridge change is not new.  This is not the first time I have change the black cartridge but it is the first time I had this issue arise.  I have followed the various peices of advice and troubleshooting suggested to no avail.  
    Troubleshooting done thus far:
    Remove and reseat black ink cartridge 
    Run Clean Printer head tool several times...first used printer menu and then a few times using HP tool on PC
    Run align print heads several times...first used printer menu and then a few times using HP tool on PC
    Black either does not print or is very light, almost illegible.  Any other troubleshooting techniques?

    For the Photosmart 6510 the troubleshooting steps in the document here may help.  Especially make sure the vents are cleared.  If that does not resolve the issue then resetting the printer as described in the post here may help.  If this does not resolve the issue then read the entire thread here and try requesting reset instructions.

  • When i send a page from a website to my printers email address, it only prints the url not the page

    I have a Photosmart D110 all in one and just bought a Asus Transformer tablet. I`ve downloaded the eprint app and every time I share a page from a website via email to my printers email address it only prints the URL not the actual webpage. Also when I click the share option it gives me the option to share with the eprint app, but when I do it say it can't read or support the file due to paper size not being selected.

    Printing Web pages through email is currently not supported. HP is in the process of developing solutions to support Web page printing for mobile devices.

  • HP Photosmart C3135 "Not Printing right with Gimp-print for p1000"

    Hi I am having trouble using my HP PhotoSmart C3135. First I will explain how it is set up.
    Wireless Setting's for Macbook - Mac 10.4.8
    HP Photosmart C3135 - Connection "bonjour"
    Print using "HP Photosmart P100 - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2
    Wireless Setting's for Hp Laptop - Windows Xp Home
    HP Photosmart C3135 - Connection "bonjour"
    Print using "HP Photosmart C3100 Series"
    Corded Setting's for Macbook - Mac 10.4.8
    HP Photosmart C3135 - Connection "USB"
    Print using "HP Photosmart C3100 Series"
    The Macbook wireless does not print with photo options, All pictures are dark and some Printed text is bigger than on USB or HP Laptop.
    The Hp Laptop Wireless Works Great With Printing. But the actual software that is installed does not pick up the printer. Though I have not tried everything Yet to get the software to pick it up.
    On the Macbook with Bonjour
    I go to add printer well it Auto-SeIect's the driver "HP All-in-One 4.0"
    So I click Add. Then Error:-9672 comes up. So I had to Click Hp in the list then I click HP PhotoSmart P1000 Gimp-Print.
    On Hp I went and plugged the printer in
    Went to "Control Panel"
    Printer's and Fax
    Went to the side panel Clicked "Add Pinter"
    Went through the setup and had to put the disc in.
    Software came up as "HP PhotoSmart C3100 Series"
    then downloaded "Bonjour for Windows"
    Plugged in the Printer into My Airport Extreme/with Built in Dial-up-Modem
    Then opened up Bonjour went through the setup
    Print using "HP PhotoSmart C3100 Series"
    Then Deleted the USB HP PhotoSmart C3135
    And kept the Bonjour HP PhotoSmart C3135
    Well I had to do it this way because the "Bonjour" printer list did not have the hp driver.
    Does Anyone know how to add the "HP PhotoSmart C3100 Series" Driver to the Mac list.
    Please Help

  • Photosmart D7200 not printing magenta

    My Photosmart D7260 is printing poor quality photos.
    It printed well the last time I used it, approximately 1 year ago. Today, with new cartidges, it is not printing magenta.
    I was able to successfully align the printer using the alignment utility, and all colors are present at the bottom of the alignment page other than one of the magentas (the  colors on the color bar on the test page are, from the left: black-dark blue-no color-yellow-light blue-magenta). 
    The printer will complete the first 2 printhead cleaning steps with no magenta on the test pages. I get a message each time I attempt to use the third cleaning step stating that it cannot be completed and I should contact HP technical support.
    Things I have tried to resolve this: I removed the magenta cartridges from the printer and cleaned the contacts on the cartridge and the printer with a cue tip and water; I unplugged the cord from the printer while it was turned on and waited 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the HP Forums.
    I see that you are having some printing issues even after installing replacement cartridges.
    I do have a few suggestions that we can try in that attempt to resolve this issue.
    First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
     I have also located a document that deals with Printed Colors Are Not the Colors Expected and a document on Faded or Dull Colors in Copies.
    Please be aware that even though the printers warranty may be expired, the ink cartridges (if not expired) will have a separate warranty status.
    If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

    Not printing black in.  Cartridge is installed correctly.  I went through the document that was post "black in not printing" (e.g. cartridge is not clogged, orange cap is off, etc.).  I've cleaned printer heads 4 times.  I've reinstalled drivers.  Nothing.

    Please make sure you have not missed anything here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
    Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
    If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker

  • Photosmart 5520 not printing black

    As with many others here, my HP Photosmart 5520 is not printing in black.  Have gone through all the HP troubleshooting, as well as the steps on the forums, short of disassembling and removing the print head.
    Replaced the print cartridge twice with genuine HP 564 and HP 564XL, checked the cartridge vents, and have run the clean printer head clean utilities 10x, including turning off, waiting several hours, and going through the process again.    It still won't print black, and the print quality diagnostic "black" box is completely blank, or has a few faint gray lines.
    Printer warranty expired 1/2014.  Was a HP customer for life, but now am very frustrated.  This is the second HP printer in a row that has failed soon after the warranty expired, and with the exact same problem.  My printer's info is below.  I am in Beaverton, Oregon, USA

    I see you are having troubles with your black ink.
    Please ensure you have completed all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages. Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. As you have a 6520, If the issue persists, I would suggest calling HP Phone Support even though the printer may be out of warranty as you may require a replacement printer. The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide. 
    Please let me know if the document resolves the issue, or if you called HP and the outcome of the call. Thanks.

  • Photosmart D6160 not printing

    I noticed your post about your Photosmart D6160 showing you an "Out of Ink" message, after you have replaced the ink cartridges. I have done some research and found a troubleshooting guide containing some steps I suggest trying. Please disregard the title name, as this issue/error is dealt with the same way.
    If you have followed all of the steps and the ink is Genuine HP Ink and still under warranty, call HP's Technical Support to inquire about an exchange.

  • Photosmart 7520 not printing

    My Photosmart 7520 is printing blanks after just getting its ink changed and also printed its ink report right after perfectly fine. What is going on? I need help ASAP. I have a final due in two days!

    Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
    I would like to assist you today with resolving the blank pages printing issue that you're experiencing on your HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer since replacing the ink cartridges. At this point this issue may be due to defective cartridges or a Printhead issue within your Photosmart printer. The Printhead is the mechanism that the cartridges fit into. It controls 'reading' the cartridges and putting ink on the page. If the Printhead is defective than the print system within your product is a defective and a replacement Printhead may be needed. With that being said, I am going to run you through some troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this printer functioning properly again for you. I am going to have you start troubleshooting by printing a Print Quality Report from your printer to verify if all cartridges are experiencing this printing issue or if the issue is being caused by one specific cartridge.
    How to print a Quality Report:
    Load plain white U.S. letter or A4 size paper in the input tray.
    On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon ().
    Touch Tools, and then touch Print Quality Report. The printer prints the test page.
    If this report prints perfectly: than the printing issue that you're experiencing is not being caused by your printer. Rather, it would appear that something on your computer is causing the blank pages to print. If you're using a Windows computer can I please have you click here to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix printing' issues for you. Should any driver, software, or connection conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you.
    If this report prints with quality issues, or missing colours/black: than the printing issue that you're experiencing is being caused by your printer. To resolve this issue can I please have you click here. Once the support document opens please run through Solution one, Solution three, and Solution six. This includes any sub-steps under the listed Solutions. 
    If your printer is failing to print one colour or black, please replace that cartridge. If the issue persists after replacing the cartridge than this it is most likely the Printhead causing the issue. If your printer is Out of Warranty you may want to check out the helpful post by @Bob_Headrick  Black Ink Not Working. The steps will walk you through manually soaking and cleaning the Printhead mechanism. Only run these steps if your printer is Out of Warranty as the troubleshooting steps will void your Printhead warranty.
    Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Best of luck!
