HP Photosmart 2610xi All in one. Can't get it to scan.

I'm running my All in one 2610xi on Windows 7 Service pack 1 home version 64 bit.  I have downloaded the software and driver several time and still get the same error message when I try to install it.  I finally purchased the Software and Driver on CD, but I still get the same error as follows:
MICROSOFT VISUAL C ++RUNTIME LEBRARY
Runtime error! Program: C:\users\jerry\appdata\local\temp\7zs3do2\setup.exe.
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
The printer works fine, it just won't scan.  It does copy.
Can anyone help me?

Welcome to the HP Forums Zoney,
I read your post which indicates that you are getting a "MICROSOFT VISUAL C ++RUNTIME LIBRARY" error, when trying to install the printer software. I can help you with this.
Download and install this Patch> Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error.
Uninstall the printer software.
Before installing the printer software again, setup the Admin rights on the computer.
Run Command Prompt as Administrator. Go to the start menu, type “CMD” in the search bar. Now, you should see a shortcut for CMD above. Right click on it, and click “run as administrator”. If it asks you for administrative permission, please allow permission. In your Command Prompt window (as administrator), type the following and hit Enter: net user administrator /active:yes
You should see a message saying "the command completed successfully". After troubleshooting is done, you can disable this account by typing the following command into Command Prompt (as administrator): net user administrator /active:no.
Restart the computer, and utilize the new account that is available, which should be named "Administrator".
Here are some more steps you can try if you are still getting the Runtime error.
But it is looking more like a Operating System issue.
Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010, 2008 and 2005 Redistributable Packages.
You will find the download links to these packages below:
2005 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=26347

2010 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632
Try the installation again please.
Let me know how you make out.
Have a nice day!

  • HP Photosmart 2610xi all-in-one caught fire/started smoking

I have a HP Photosmart 2610xi all-in-one thats started smoking and appeared as if it had caught fire. I had recently moved it from on top of my counter to under it in a cabinent with my computer. I used the same cords, plugins, etc, i move it all the time and this wasn't anything major. When i plugged it back in as usual the screen flashed white and then turned off. I tried to press the on button but it wouldn't start. So I went to HP Support and found a troubleshooting video, which i followed. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01321436&tmp_task=solveCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc...
As i was finishing step three, i plugged in the power cord into the usual outlet and then plugged the cord into the printer. The lights and Screen flashed rapidly and smoke started rising from the back. I immediatly unplugged the power cord from the printer and power outlet. What could have caused this, and what are my options. Ive loved this printer since i got it, and would prefer it repaired, unfortunetly its not showing up on the warrenty check so im assuming its out of warrenty, its pretty old. Thanks

The Photosmart 2610 has been out of production for five years or so, I bought my last new one at closeout when I retired in 2005.  I do not have any information on repair costs.  The HP Partsurfer site says "Note: This product (Q5550A) is no longer supported by HP as of  Oct-10-2008, and service parts may not be available. The information below is for reference only."

  • I have a hp photosmart c7280 all in one and i get a message that says "pump motor stalled.

I have an HP photosmart C7280 All in One and I get a message that says pump motor stalled.  I have done everything from resetting and turning it off.  I have checked to make sure that there is not any paper jam.  It makes a clicking sound after it has been reset and then the message "pump motor stalled" pops up.  Any suggestions or should I just toss and buy new???  It is only three years old but it is out of warranty.

You might try the suggestions in this post.  There is also a post here that reports success.

  • Photosmart 3210 All in One - can't scan

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Photosmart 3210 All in One printer a few times in the last month and a half.  It hasn't solved not being able to scan.  I have to use Microsoft Paint to do that.  It keeps telling me the Digital Imaging monitor has been deleted or moved.  It also can't find HP Twain Scan.  I need help.  the process listed earlier did not work.  When I right clicked on HP Digital Imaging Monitor and Run as administrator, it said it was no longer in that location.

    Hi  ruthmarq,
I have done some research and I have located a document that deals with when Scanning Stops at the Preview Screen when the Printer is Connected to the Windows Computer with a US....  This document also has the link to the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • HP PSC 2510 All in One - can't get wireless feature to work with AE

I just got the Airport Extreme 802.11n access point. But I can't get my old HP printer to connect wirelessly. This is an 802.11b device and should be compatible. I can plug it in to the AE and it works, but can't get the wireless feature to work. Any suggestions?

Jimmy5, Welcome to the discussion area!
Personally, I would connect it to one of the LAN port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).
If you do succeed in connecting it wirelessly, it will drag down your wireless speeds.

  • Looking for Print Server for HP Photosmart C4483 All-in-One Printer

I am looking for Print Servers that I can use with 'HP Photosmart C4483 All-in-One Printer' for both 'Printing and Scanning'. I'm not sure if this Printer is Network Ready or Network Capable, kindly advice.

    Hello Merole
As I understand it you can print color everywhere but from MS Word 2013? If this is the case try the steps I have outlined below to see if they resolve your issue:
On the View tab, in the Color/Grayscale group, click Black and White.
On the Black and White tab, in the Change Selected Object group, click the settings that you want.
I hope this helps resolve your printing issue. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • My HP7280 all in one can't find my wireless router

My HP Photosmart C7280 all in one can't find my wireless router even after I enter my WEP key and ESSID. My other computer is wired into the printer and it works but not wireless. Can anyone help me?

Is the other computer wired with USB?  if so that is fine.  If it is wired with Ethernet, that is the source of the wireless problem.
What router?  Oh, and don't use WEP, it is not in the least secure.  I recommend changing your router settings to WPA, create your own password and then try to connect the printer.

  • After installing Snow Leopard I can no longer "save photos on computer" after inserting a memory stick to an HP Photosmart C5180 All in 1                                                                                           Photosmart C5180 All in one

    Hello,
When I insert a memory stick into my HP Photosmart C5180 All in one and I try to "save photos on computer" the printer reads: "You need to install device software". This all started happening after I installed Snow Leopard on my Mac 10.6.8. Can someone please advise on what I need to do?

Typically it's a good idea to uninstall any devices attached to the Mac before doing an upgrade.  This prevents problems that can be caused by the upgrade.  Below are the instructions for uinstalling and reinstalling the printer.  I'm also going to include a link to the full feature software and drivers for the printer.  Let me know what happens.

CANNOT PRINTING FROM WINDOWS 7 TO MY PHOTOSMART c7180 ALL-IN-ONE (I CAN SEE MESSAGES IN QUEUE)?

    Hi,
I think you need to remove the queue. Please try:
hold down the Windows key and press R.
from the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
if the machine asks for Admin you have to accept this,
look down to the print spooler service, right click it and select properties
        click on the Stop button,
        browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\printers
delete the job inside this folder
        reboot the machine
    Regards.

  • Setup can't detect network printer Photosmart C7250 all in one

I volunteer for our local historical society.  The person who did a lot of the computer maintenance work is not active at this time so I’ve begun to look at things.
There is a Gateway PC running Windows 7 64 bit home premium, a Sony Vio laptop running Vista 32 bit  home premium, an HP Laser printer and (of most importance here) an HP Photosmart C7250 All in one printer.
Internet connectivity is via a dsl line with a combination modem/router.  I think the modem/router is a Westell or an Actiontec through Frontier Communications (formerly Verizon in this area)  but I’m not sure and I’m not at the museum now.
A couple of weeks ago I was able to connect the laptop to the network via wifi.  My next step is to connect the laptop wirelessly to the printer so we can print wirelessly over the network.  The printer was originally set up through a usb connection so I changed it to a wired Ethernet connection.  The PC now successfully prints to the printer over the network.  I downloaded the software and drivers directly to the laptop from the HP site and began the installation.  When it got to the point of finding the network printer the software couldn’t detect it.  I then put in the ip address for the printer (from the network info printed out from the printer) and it still couldn’t find it.
This same situation occurred when I tried to set it up on my personal laptop (Win7 , 64 bit) as well.  Setup couldn’t detect the network printer, even after searching for the network ip address.
Since the printer is connected to the network (router) via an Ethernet cable, I don’t have the wifi radio turned on in the printer.  This shouldn’t make any difference.
I’ve searched the forums and haven’t seen anything that is like my issue.
I don’t what else to do.  Hopefully someone will give me some advice on what to do next.

Download and run this utility: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Nav?h_pagetype=s-926&h_lang=en&h_client=s-h-e17-1&h_keyword=dg-NDU&ju...
    What does it say?
If the network has Wireless Isolation turned on it will prevent wired devices from seeing wireless devices.  Do you have access to the router?

  • Are there any updates so i can use my HP Photosmart C4780 All in One Printer wirelessly?

just wondering..are there any updates for the iMac with OS X (10.8.2) so I can use my HP Photosmart C4780 All in One (Print,Scan,Copy)?

    Hi,
An HP Full Feature Software is not available for Mountain Lion, therefore the Wireless configuration is tricky and cannot be done through the software.
To connect the printer to your wireless network you will need to create a temporary wireless ad hoc connection, then the wireless connection to your router can be configured via the EWS page:
Step one: Restore the printer's network default settings
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to Wireless / Scan .
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to Wireless Menu .
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to Wireless Settings .
Use the up and down ATM buttons ( ) to select Restore Network Defaults , and then press OK .
Touch the ATM button ( ) next to  Yes to confirm your selection.
Step two: Networkly connect the Mac to the printer by creating a temporary ad-hoc connection
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon.
    Click Join other network.
    Click Show Networks.
Select the printer's SSID, it should be listed as HPSETUP or should contain HP or C4700 within its name.
    Click Connect
Allow two-three minutes to fully establish the network connection.
Step three: Connect the printer to your router via the EWS page
    Open Safari.
    Click the Bookmarks icon ()
    Click Bonjour.
Double click the printer name, the EWS page appears.
    Open the Networking tab.
From the left pane select Wireless.
Click the Start Wizard button and follow the steps to connect the printer to your router.
Step four: Reconnect the Mac to your router
From the Mac, click the Wi-Fi icon.
    Click Join other network.
    Click Show Networks.
    Select your router SSID.
    Click Connect
Allow two-three minutes to fully establish the network connection.
Now the printer should be connected to your network.
Open Print & Scan, click the Plus sign and add the printer listed as Bonjour.
btw John Galt - I this it should be spelled as OS X, please correct me if i'm wrong.. ;-)
    Hope that helps,
    Shlomi

  • HP Photosmart e-All-in-One - B110a : How can I deactivate wireless?

    Hi, everyone.
I just bought HP Photosmart e-All-in-One - B110 and after the installation (which went OK), while trying to get acquainted with the printer and the rest of the functions, I pushed the Wireless button out of curiosity.
Now, every time I switch on B110, the Wireless blue light keeps blinking. Does that mean that it's working?
I do NOT want to activate wireless printing (at least for the time being). I want it deactivated permanently. Is there a way to do this?
    Many thanks in advance.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The blinking blue light means it's looking for a network to connect to. It won't connect to a network if you haven't put any info in the wireless setup. I believe there's an option to turn off the wireless radio in the settings somewhere.
