HP Photosmart 309a

My HP Photosmart 309a will not copy in black, I printed in black but it was very light. I checked the vents, restarted the printer, changed my black cartridge even though it was new in case I got a bad one. Tried the cleaning, nothing printed. I copied in color a business card, the red showed up but the black was very faint. Every time I select copy/black I get a blank page from the flat bed and the document feeder.

I see you are experiencing ink out issues. I would like to try and help.
I would recommend removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset on the printer.
I would then suggest following the steps laid out in this document on The Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.

The Default priting code is 0000.
If you changed the code, you may locate the current on by clicking the Setup Menu,
Scroll to the Bluetooth Menu and then click Passkey.

HP Photosmart 309a - the fix for not printing black, resulted in wireless radio not functioning.

My HP Photosmart 309a printer was not printing black, trying various ideas from this forum, I used the #6 reset (after replacing cartridges etc etc). This was successful and the black printed out on a test page, but then I couldn't reconnect wirelessly to the PC.
The Wireless Network Test Report says the Wireless is on, but that the Wireless radio is not functioning. (It seems that the #6 did something to the Wireless on the printer.)
The #6 reset turned the wireless radio off. After I turned it on again its search still did not find any wireless routers.
I have tried various printer resets, #3, #6 to no avail. Would appreciate any further ideas.
This is my second HP printer. I got rid of my last one recently, when I couldn't get it to print black, even though it was stilll quite new. This one is certainly not a year old, but because we are selling our house and have put almost everything in storage I don't have access to the receipts, so cannot get the printer replaced.

Alignment failed photosmart 309a

Hi All,
Suddenly my HP printer (Photosmart 309a) has reverted to the date of January 00 and will not print in alignment.
I get the following message: 'Alignment Failed' evreytime I try to use it. I have changed ink, it has the correct paper and I have just updated the drivers.
Any helpful advice would really be appreciated before I throw it out of the window!!

AirPrint on New HP Photosmart 309a - Will HP PLEASE support this? Still selling them in stores!!!!

OK, so does anybody know if HP will provide a firmware update for the HP Photosmart 309a to support AirPrint? They are still selling them in stores, and pushing sales of them on their Black Friday promotion over the weekend. Completely absurd that there is nothing available for this on a printer that has such an array of features.

Only the new 'e-Print' enabled HP printers are AirPrint compatible and there will not be any firmware updates for any previous models.
There is an app on the iTunes store, HP iPrint Photo v3.0, that provides printing with the Photosmart C309 series

Photosmart 309A - Printer Driver Reinstall Looking for C Drive

Hi Forum,
I have a 4 year old Photosmart Premium all-in-one printer, which I think is an excellent machine. The issue I have today is that on a new build computer with Windows 7-64 Ultimate I am having problems loading all the drivers as my windows installation is on a drive partition with letter G. I think HP drivers like to load on C.
While the drivers are loading I get an option to choose where the drivers will load and they are loading correctly into the G drive but during installation I get a Fatal Error message saying C drive missing or something to that effect. I have looked on the support section and used the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which is picking up the fact that the imaging function drivers are not correctly loaded. The Fatal Error message popped up in a separate window and I could see the installation continuing in the background. The installation completed and I can wirelessly print to the printer but Solution Centre will not operate, which means scanning will not be possible.
What if any solution is there other than changing drive letter on my bootable partition which will totally ruin my new Windows 7 installation. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I read over your post about the issues you are having with the installation of your printer. My best idea would be to try extracting the installation by using WinRaR.

Wireless radio not working contact HP support?? call whom? for Photosmart 309a

I have reinstalled the software and verified the network is working and all other functions work on printer including USB hookup. Message sent after testing.. "The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support. THis is my last try before trashing this new printer prod #cc336a out of warranty

Wireless radio is not functioning fails diagnostics HP Photosmart 309a All In One

Can't find printer on network.
was set up and working fine previously. Have run diagnostics and rebooted systems following HP manual.
Diagnostic test shows wireless radio fail and show critical : Action required. Contact HP support.
Warrantee is expired on printer

I have exactly the same problem. I just spoke with HP Tech Support. It sounds like we are out of luck.
Our machines have evidently conked out as far as the wireless radio is concerned. She offered me
a trade in swap for a 410 for about $179.00 with a free set of ink worth $53. I am still thinking about it.
It may be worth buying a new one and keep this one for a back up. Everything else still works including the Fax
features.

I'm having trouble printing wirelessly through Mac Airport Extreme with my MacBook Pro. Printer recognizes airport address, but won't accept WEP key. I've done all the troubleshooting steps. Is there a trick to this? Thanks.

It's the code I use for visitors to connect their computers, so I think it's the correct WEP key. It's printed on the bottom of the Airport Extreme.
Now I've gotten a "Wireless Network Test Report" that says: "Cannot find access point. Check that access point is powered on. (Yes) Check that printer network name (SSID) matches access point network name (SSID) exactly. The printer is finding the wireless network name, and I've accepted it and also input it during the Setup process.

Cannot clear Fax log on computer for HP Photosmart 309a,

I cannot delete any of the fax log entires using the HP Solution Center. The delete button cannot be highlighted. I have deleted the entries on the fax/printer. As a result I cannot get any new updates on faxes sent. Any ideas? Thank you.

Mike - thanks for this :-) I've downloaded the patch (the only thing that's available for download), reset the printer (again!), and installed the patch. So far [fingers VERY tightly crossed] it seems to be working. :-)
I have wondered actually if rather than being a problem with Mail, it's more to do with software updates - I did an update (via App Store updates) on 11th April for a new version of Textwrangler. I think the problem may be happening because any App Store update is wiping the HP driver patch (which actually I've installed previously, but forgot about - so particular thanks to Mike for unintentionally reminding me about it), and so it needs re-installing again after each App Store update. Would this be likely I wonder?

Photosmart 309a stopped working after unplugged for several hours

The printer is about 6 months old and my PC detected it wirelessly immediely, out of the box. But for some reason now the radio on the printer cannot find my wireless network. I have used this printer, wirelessly, from day 1 as part of my home office (I work from home a lot). I unplugged the printer today--to move the furniture so I could paint my office. When I was done I plugged the printer back in but printing failed immediately thereafter. The only thing I did was unplug the printer. My wireless router remained plugged in and my work laptop, with uses the wireless network, continues to show a strong signal.
I contacted HP online chat earlier this evening and they had me do a reinitialization (#,6 after unplugging for 20 seconds). That did nothing to help the problem.
I have also uninstalled the printer and reinstalled the printer drivers -- still nothing! I am running Vista 64 home premium.
Both the radio and bluetooth lights are lit on the front of the printer.
The printer does work if I connect it to my pc via a usb cable.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

It sounds like it never even really starts the process by finding a list of wireless networks to choose from. Is the wireless radio on (usually a blue light)? If so, run a Wireless Network Test from the front panel of the printer to find out the radio's status. It may have failed. Let me know what it says.
While you are messing with this stuff I would highly recommend not using WEP. It is no longer secure (freeware from the web can break it in about 10 minutes). I recommend WPA or WPA2 encryption. You can even set your own passphrase that you can remember (but make it strong - 13 characters or more, numbers and letters, upper and lower case).

[SOLVED] xsane can not find HP Photosmart 309a

at least it worked for me, had to add user to the sys group, then xsane found the scanner.
Afterwards removed the user from the very same group and scanner ist still recognized.
The hint to solve the problem was found at the output of the hp-setup tool

If I switch on the scanner after boot it still works for root.
As an ordinary user:
sane-find-scanner
