HP Photosmart 4283 Windows 7

When I print pictures, slight parallel lines appear on the print. I have replaced the cartridge- a 141Xl but to no avail. Any ideas?

Try the troublsehooting steps in this page.  In particular, make sure you are printing in "Best" quality and if printing on photo paper make sure you are selecting the proper paper type.

My Photosmart printer began giving me error codes...ink system failure, B83024C6, and many others....flashing and blinking lights constantly.  We tried all the resets, called HP and they said they did not have a fix for this so we were not going to pay the tech fee for nothing.  I unplugged the printer and now it says...connect and install software.
PLEASE HELP!  This is the most frustrating printer and everyone seems to have the same complaint.  This was an expensive printer and Hp should come up with a solution.
I would appreciate any help you could give me....
We connect with aUSB cable.  We also have a wireless N system but the printer is not used on that system.
Profeciency level of me is average
My husband and I have read the forum for some time regarding problems with the C8180 and many have given up hope of fixing the flashing led light problem.  Our C8180 now has other problems and we are so frustrated that we are making one last attempt to get this working.  We purchased this high end printer in 2009 and for a year it worked just fine...then the problems started.
We have made no changes to the printer or the computer.  All software upgrades to the printer came from H.P.
    HELP....

Well, as I expected.  Jumped through all the hoops to ask the right questions on EXPERT DAY, and none of your 300 EXPERTS  found it possible to answer the C8180 printer questions.  Why, because this piece of junk cannot be fixed!

Do a Hard Reset on the printer as described in the following link.  Click Here
Clear the print queue.  To do this, click on the Start button, select Devices and Printers, right click your printer and select See What’s Printing (for the printer that does not say “fax”), right click any documents listed and select Cancel Document.

  • Photosmart c3180 windows 8.1

I have a Photosmart C3180 all in one printer.  Worked fine with Windows 8.  I installed Windows 8.1 (64 bits) and I cannot install the proper driver.  A pop-up is telling me that the printer is not plugged.  I did few steps for trying to correct the problem (unplugged, and pluged again, change the USB port, try to reinstall the driver, installed a HP Printer Install Wizard...)  My C3180 still does not print (but I can scan with it...).  Can I try with the Windows 8.1 32 bits driver?  Or what esle can I do?  Thanks!

    Hi @cubitus123 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about needing drivers for Windows 8.1 64 bit and your HP Photosmart C3180. Here is link to the drivers and software.
Here is a link to the HP Print and Scan Doctor. The HP Print and Scan Doctor will run a check on your system and install the drivers and software that is needed.

  • Photosmart C6380 - Windows 8.1 installation failure

I have a new PC with Windows 8.1 and I've tried numerous times to install the drivers via the HP site. The driver downloads, starts the install process and then comes up with a message "the system cannot find the file specified" and shuts down. What can I do?

Hello Druyan and Tsal, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are running into installation issues.  I would like to try and help.
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration.  You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver.

  • PhotoSmart A646 & Windows 8 "Need to download the Driver"

I am attempting to install the drivers for my Photosmart A646 on my new laptop that has Windows 8.1 installed. When I try to install the software I get a pop-up that says I need to go get the driver and install it. I click on the Get Driver button and I get directed to HP.com. I select the Windows 8.1 64-bit driver and am able to download the driver. When I double click the file I just downloaded, I get the same pop-up stating that I need to go get the driver. I repeat the process and am directed to the same location. I get stuck in a loop and can't get the printer drivers loaded, so I can't use the printer.

I have been successful installing my HP photosmart A646 on my new Asus laptop with Windows 8.1 and an Intel i7 processor!
In order for my technique to work, you will have to locate your printer driver file folder on your previous machine’s hard drive and transfer the folder with the enclosed files to your new machine using a thumb drive or by mounting your old hard drive as an external drive.
There appear to be two issues to overcome when trying to load the new drivers. First, the website download is broken and it locks you in a loop. This is overcome by using the old drivers already installed on your previous windows vista or windows 7 machine. Second, the drivers from the previous machine fail the windows 8.1 driver signing process, so they need to be installed manually using an advanced startup mode trick. Lastly, once all is set up, whenever you plug in and turn on your machine, it appears to windows 8.1 initially as an external drive. If you eject the drive, your printer will act as a printer.
If you have already attempted to install the printer, it may be showing up on your Devices and printer screen as a device. REMOVE IT before you begin this process. Your printer should not be connected to your computer as you begin this process. Also, consider printing these instructions as your computer will restart during this procedure.
You will need to perform an advanced restart of your new Windows 8.1 machine in order to disable driver signature enforcement. This will allow you to use the windows Vista/7 drivers. This procedure is detailed in http://www.fotoclubinc.com/blog/how-to-disable-driver-signature-enforcement-to-allow-installation-of... . I take no credit for it; all I did was find it! This advanced restart is a one time only event, and makes no permanent change to your machine.
Begin the procedure by opening the charms bar (right hand bar that appears when you swipe a touch screen from the right or click on the right upper or lower corner.)
Select the spyglass search icon and type in ‘advanced startup’. Select the   ‘change advanced startup options’ icon that appears.
In the Update and recovery screen that appears, choose the ‘restart now’ option under the Advanced startup heading.
The next screen will say ‘Choose an option.’ Select the ‘Troubleshoot’ icon.
At the Troubleshoot screen, select the ‘Advanced options’ icon.
At the Advanced options screen, select the ‘Startup settings’ icon.
At the Startup settings screen, select the ‘Restart’ button.
Your machine will restart at this time. You should see the blue ‘Startup settings’ screen. Press either F7 or 7 to select the ‘Disable driver signature enforcement’ option. If you wait too long, the machine will shut off, and you will need to restart at #3 above.
Sign on as you normally would.
Use the charms bar search icon to search for ‘control panel.’ Choose the control panel icon to navigate to it.
Select ‘View devices and Printers’ under the Hardware and sound section heading if you use the category view for control panel. Alternatively, select the ‘Devices and Printers’ icon if you use the traditional icon view for the control panel.
Choose the ‘Add a printer’ option at the top of the Devices and Printers screen. It is directly below the address ribbon at the top of the window.
A pop up appears as the machine attempts to find your printer. Select ‘The printer that I want isn’t listed’ in the lower part of the pop up box.
In the Find a printer by other options box that appears, select ‘Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings’ radio button.
In the Choose a printer port box, select the ‘Use an existing port’ radio button and choose ‘USB001 (virtual printer port for USB)’; press ‘Next.’
The Install printer driver box now appears. Your thumb drive with your printer information folder needs to be plugged in before proceeding further. Once it is mounted and recognized, select ‘Have Disk’ at the bottom of the box, then press ‘Next.’
At the next box, select ‘Browse’ and navigate to the printer information folder on your thumb drive. The file locator should help you select ‘hpvq03.inf’ from your Hpvqc03.inf_amd64_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx folder. Then press the ‘Open button.’ You will be returned to the previous screen. Press the ‘OK’ button to continue. Now press ‘Next.’
At the ‘Which version of the driver do you want to use?’ screen, select the ‘Replace the current driver’ radio button, then press ‘Next.’
At the next screen, you can leave the printer name as listed, or change it, if you prefer.
At the Printer sharing screen, I chose the “Do not share this printer’ radio button.
The next screen should say ‘You’ve successfully added HP Photosmart A640 series 2.’ Plug your printer into USB port and to power and turn it on.
When you power up your printer, it will likely present itself to your computer as if it is an external drive. If it does, it is important that you use the file explorer (reach this by navigating to the PC desktop and choosing ‘This PC’ or by using the charm search function and typing ‘file explorer’) to right click on the external drives and eject them. Once you have ejected the thumb drive and the printer (that your machine recognized as an external drive), you should be able to use the printer in a normal fashion.
I can’t promise this will work for you, but it did for me. Best of luck.

  • Photosmart C4780 Windows 7 64bit connectivity problems

Is there any link where I can download the full set of drivers to make Photosmart C4780 work on Windows 7 64 bit?
Can I buy anywhere a CD contaning all required drivers to make this printer work with Windows 7 64bit.
I have installed all updates from HP but I still can not make it work. (Win 7 32bit does recognise the printer and jobs are printed without any issue).
In fact, I got so frustrated with the time I have lost over this issue that I bought a new Cannon printer. It worked instantly so it sloved the immediate problem for me.  But it would be still nice to get the HP printer working.

Perhaps the reason no one has answered your inquiry is because there is no Windows 8.1 Driver for your little printer.

I am certainly not a printer Expert.  These things have a habit of not working out:  You could try downloading the Windows 7 64bit driver and running it in compatibility mode.

  • Photosmart 2575 & Windows 7 Printing Problem

I bought a new pc and it came with windows 7.  Since then I have had problems with my hp photosmart 2575 printer.  It intermittently prints then starts just printing the first few lines of a page - very slow too.
I have downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it says there is no problem with the printer.
The green light flashes to show that data has been downloaded from the PC to the printer but it just hangs and then a while later will print off the page but just a few lines or gobblygook!
If I turn the pc off and the printer off it seems to reset itself and then a while later it starts doing it again.
I have downloaded the new drivers for Windows 7 - and am at a loss as to why this keeps happening......does anyone have any ideas or suggestions or is it time for a new printer - when it works it is fine!  Frustrating eh!

This is a classic error when the fonts used in the document and your systems fonts aren't compatible or aren't the same.  What you could do is to NOT TO RELY on systems fonts as defaults and everything should work normally.  To do this try this:
    1) Go to Start/Windows Orb
    2) Click on Devices and Printers
    3) Right-click on Adobe PDF
    4) Click on Printing Preferences
    5) Uncheck "Rely on systems fonts only; Do not use document fonts"
    6) Click OK
You are now done and your documents should look normal on the screen.

  • Photosmart 7525 Windows 7 How can I choose to print in black only?

HP Photosmart 7525 All-in-one printer. Windows 7 software.
Is there a way to choose to print text in black only, even though there may be color on the page? When I choose to print from Microsoft Word, it does not give me an option, and I can't find reference anywhere in instruction manuals. Can someone help me please?

    Hi,
The are 3 options for Grayscale/Greyscale:
None (or Off): print in colors (including black )
High Quality grayscale: mixing all colors to make black & white
Black Ink Only: Use black in only to print.
You can set one option as default and change each print job to meet your need. Please use the following steps to set default:
Double click printer icon on desktop,
    Click Advanced in Paper/Quality tab
Select the one you want (above list)
    Click Apply/Ok to get out.

  • 2600 Photosmart on Windows 7- Update or fix for XP disc?

Hi, I want to install the 2600 Photosmart software  that stops compatibility with XP on a Windows 7 laptop. Can I?  Is there an update of the software?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi @woolysmissus,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you want to install the HP Photosmart 2600 software that stops compatibility with XP on a Windows 7 laptop.
If you had XP and you upgraded to Windows 7. Before installing the new software, I would uninstall the old software first. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
After uninstalling you can download the Windows 7 software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Also you can always find any of your printer's drivers that is currently available at this website. HP Photosmart 2610 All-in-One Printer Drivers.
Hope this is what you are looking for, and have a nice day!

  • Extremely Slow Network Wired Photosmart with Windows XP

There have been a number of posts that are very similar, but I thought I'd try this, anyway.
    Have:
    1.  Photosmart 8450 ethernet'd to DLink 655.
    2.  Officejet 6500 wireless to DLink 655.
    3.  Windows XP desktop ethernet'd to DLink 655.
    4.  Windows Vista laptop wireless to DLink 655.
Both XP and Vista print to Officejet in less than 30 seconds.
Vista prints to Photosmart in less than 30 seconds.
Problem (from my perspective) is the XP to Photosmart print takes 8+ MINUTES to print.  All printing successfully completes, eventually.
Since the Vista can print wirelessly to the Photosmart in seconds and the XP can print to the Officejet in seconds, I believe waiting over 8 minutes for the XP/Photosmart is not acceptable performance.
Have tried a number of solutions posted here and on other forums, with no improvement in XP-to-Photosmart print times.  These include:
    1.  Directly connecting Photosmart to XP desktop.
    2. Uninstalling/reinstalling both printers on XP.
    3. Changing XP LPT_Timeout to 3 sec.
    4. Disabling HP Cue Discovery at XP startup.
    5. Turning off XP firewall.
    6. Changing Photosmart IP addressing to manual, with no default gwy, on XP. (Officejet is set to automatic)
    7. Ran HP Network Diagnostic Utility.  Everything looked good.
    8. Ran HP Printer Diagnostic Utility.  May be a hint, but HPPDU listed both printers, but it would NOT diagnose nor list any technical info on the Photosmart.  There must be a clue here, somewhere, but I'm not sure where to go with it.
Would appreciate any suggestions, will try just about anything.

Yeah, I think you are right.  Something in the XP machine is an issue.  Have you disabled its security system's firewall?
