HP Photosmart 5510

I just purchased a photosmart 5510 eprint. I researched this on line before I decided.
connection and set up was easy except I had to use a USB connection from my PC.
In HP set up they tell you how to disconnect the USB once the printer is set up. thats easy. However, what they fail to tell you your router may have to be re-set before the printer can read it. Just turn off the router disconect from mains, wait a few then switch on the router, but do not vreconnect to mains, the printer will then or should find the router. Once set up the printer then requires an e mail address.
As far as I know its now working fine. The print quality is first class the 4 print cartridges are reasonably priced and economical.

Hi Greycaster,
I appreciate the thorough post, although I am unsure which step it is you are having trouble with.
To setup wireless, from the home screen of the printer:
Touch the right arrow.
Touch wireless.
Touch the wireless setup wizard option.
It will look for networks, select your network.
If your network has an encryption key, you will need to enter it.
After it is connected, if you go back to the wireless menu, an IP address will appear at the top of the screen.
If it is the ePrint aspect of your printer that you are having the issue with, please post again.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • Printing problem with HP Photosmart 5510

This is not really a Mavericks problem but I was hoping that someone out ther who owns a HP Photosmart 5510 all in one printer may know the answer. All was working fine up untill I (foolishly) changed the printing mode to economy black & white and now I can not get it back to printing in colour. Anyone know how to do this please?
Sorry that this is not a specivic Apple problem but I am desperate!
    Cheers.

    Hello wil46,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand you have recently changed the black ink cartridge on your HP Photosmart C8180. I would first like to make sure that the cartridges are properly vented, take a look at the picture below:
Please take out the cartridge and inspect it, clean the contacts with a lint free cloth (coffee filter works best) and some distilled water, also clean inside the printer where the cartridge sits. Depending on how long the printer was sitting for or an empty cartridge this can sometimes cause the nozzles to dry out which could cause the black ink not to print.
Now let's go ahead and clean the printhead, from the front panel of your C8180 follow the steps listed below:
Setup Menu > Tools > Clean Printhead
You may need to do this a few times, if you see the black ink quality getting better please continue with the cleanings.
Let me know if this was helpful, I will watch for your reply.
    Thanks,

  • Hp photosmart 5510 won't scan in colour on my mac

My HP Photosmart 5510 will not print in colour to my mac documentary page.

I assume you may try scanning from the printer front panel and the scanned page appear as Grayscale only?
If I assumed incorrectly, please clarify the exact problem and the OS details as listed above.
If my assumtion is correct, please try the following steps:
*If you are using Mac OS X 10.7, install the Critical Update below, otherwise skip that part (The OS version can be checked by clicking the Apple Icon > About This Mac):
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL41827/mp-101648-1/HP_Scan_for_Mac_OS_X_10.7_Update.dmg
Now change the device settings as following:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Mode and set as Color.
    7. Click OK and try scanning.
Please let me know of any change,

    Hi @JaneCat,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan photos from your HP Photosmart 5510 to a file on your Mac running Yosemite. I am sorry to hear this, but I am happy to help!
I would recommend downloading the full feature software and drivers from our website, HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers, as it is compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite.
If you are still having issues, I would also recommend this scanning guide, A 'No computer found' Message Displays during Scanning. Then follow the steps for the section that says it is for, Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, OS X v10.7 Lion, OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion, or OS X v10.9 Mavericks. As these steps will still work on Mac OS X Yosemite.
I would also see this how to scan guide, Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!

  • Print Quality HP Photosmart 5510

I have a HP Photosmart 5510 operating on Windows XP OS. The printing has started to print crooked on the page no matter if it's a print, copy or scan. I did a Print Quality Diagnostic Report and the Pen Alignment Status was a:Fail.
I then printed an alignment page but the scanner would not recognise it.
Any ideas what is causing this?

  • Does anyone know if I can print to hp photosmart 5510 from my 1st generation ipad if I can't download the drivers for the printer?

Am trying to set up an HP Photosmart printer and it is proving much more complicated than I'd expected. I don't seem to be able to download to my ipad from the HP website - does anyone know how I manage to print, or get my ipad to recognidse the printer, if I've no printer software downloaded?
Thanks, in anticipation, for your help

You can't download drivers, or any other software, via a browser on the iPad. If the printer isn't the HP Photosmart 5510 e-AiO B111a which supports AirPrint, and it also isn't supported by HP's ePrint app, then you can see if any of the third-party printer apps such as Print Central For iPad or Print n Share work with it.

  • Is eFax supported on a HP Photosmart 5510 series printer?

I don't see it as an option on my Apps menu.  It would be a nice feature to have, if available.
I'm working off a Toshiba Satellite P105S-6217 laptop that is on Windows 7, 32-bit, if that indeed matters.

  • HP Photosmart 5510 will not print in black ink

Hello, I started having an issue with my photosmart 5510. It slowly stopped printing in black in. I started printing, it printed a few pages normally, but then phased out to not printing black at all. When searching for solutions, I found a forum where an expert mentioned different instructions that have to be messaged privately, may I also have these instructions?
I have tried all the suggested steps and still no black ink, only wasting colored ink while I try one fix or another and then do a test page after each try.
I have had this printer for more than a year, possibly more than 2 years even, so it is way out of warranty and I am willing to try anything at this point.
    Thank you.
PS I did try to private message the expert, but it wouldn't send due to "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and send the message when you are satisfied." and it still wouldn't send. So here I am making a whole new thread about it :/

    Hi MamaChickadee,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5510, you are unable to print in black ink.
You have completed the steps listed here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, with no success and would like to try the reset on the machine. I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge and do not feel a reset would help in this situation.
I would like to get this taken care of for you as soon as possible, can you please let me know which Country/Region you are in?
I hope to hear from you soon.

  • HP Photosmart 5510 will not print in black

My printer is 2 years old. I replaced my black ink cartridge and it won't print any solid black. Other colors print fine. When I pick shades of gray for text in Word, it prints those, just not solid black. I've run the diagnostics and cleaned print heads. Please advise.

    Hi @brc_in_austin
I see you are unable to print black from your Photosmart 5510, I'd like to help. Please complete all of the steps in the following document; Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.
Although I hope this resolves the issue, it might not. If the issue persists, please post back with your warranty status. Use the following link to check your warranty.
If your printer is still in warranty, please call HP and explain the issue you are experiencing. The number to call HP is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
If your printer is out of warranty, let me know and I will do my best to help. Thanks. I look forward to hearing from you.

  • HP Photosmart 5510 will not print Black Ink!! - Time to "break-up" with HP

I came upon this forum by doing a google search for the issue I'm having which is my HP Photosmart 5510 will not print black ink. The printer is a year and a half old and is used only for home office use (not a heck of a lot of printing being done)
It started right after I installed new ink cartridges (all four of them) I want to mention hear that I ONLY buy genuine HP ink cartridges from Staples and when I replace my cartriges I replace all four at the same time even if one ink level is not considered "replaceably" low. When the issue started I thought I must have gotten a bad black cartridge so I went out and bought another one but was still having the issue. So that's when I did my google search.
I tried all the suggestions (several times) on this post (which did not reslove the problem) : http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/HP-Photosmart-5510-will-not-print/m-p/1...
and I tried a "Hard Reset" as suggested here (again did not resolve the problem) :  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Toner-Cartridge-Printhead-Issues/Photosmart-5510-Will-not-print-in-...
After trying all of these my color ink is less than half full....remember....I started with 4 brand new ink cartridges...so now, I'm out roughly $85 in ink just trying to resolve a problem that should not have happened in the first place!! Shame on HP for makeing such poor quality products. I gave up on HP computers years ago and now I'm giving up on their printers!! This HP Photosmart 5510 All In One printer replaced an HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi printer (which cost approximately $400) that only lasted about 3 years. Sorry HP but that's it....I'm moving on! Consider this our "break-up" letter.

Hi TisKate, sorry to hear that you are having printing issues when it comes to printing in Black. I am also sorry to hear that you are breaking up with HP. I would like to offer a couple more troubleshooting steps before we say our fond farewells. Now this might sound silly but really it isn't. If you have the power cable connected to a Power bar/strip, please remove it and connect the power cable directly to a wall outlet. HP printers already have a built in surge protector and if you have it in a strip/bar, the printer will not get all the power needed to function properly. This can cause printing issues or false error messages on the printer display screen. Here is a document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
The other step I would like to take is on the printers display touch screen. Please use the right arrow key and go to the Wrench icon. Press the wrench and go to the Tools menu. Once in the Tools menu, please select Clean Printhead. Use the cleaning utility 2-3 times or until you see a change in the print status reports. It might take a few cycles but I am confident that it will make a difference.
I hope you and HP can still be friends( friendly humor).
    Thanks for your time.

  • Black Ink Cartridge not working HP Photosmart 5510 series

I replaced my black ink cartridge in my HP Photosmart 5510 series printer and it doesn't print.  I don't know how long I had the cartridge, so I went and bought a brand new cartridge and it still won't print.  I did everything the help menu said and it still doesn't print.  I cleaned print head and copper on both the cartridge and print head, I did an automatic cartridge clean and nothing is working.  The printer recognizes that the cartridge is full---there are no error messages---but it won't print.  I also replaced the  three color cartridges and they print fine, but the black doesn't.  Any help would be appreciated.  My printer is fairly new, I haven't done a lot of printing with it and it was printing untill the black ran out and I had to replace the cartridge.

Hi, please see links below on cartridge changes

  • Photosmart 5510 unable to find my MacBook pro.

I have read many posts with regards to scanner and printing issues with printer compatible AirPrint. I have tried all solutions by the experts but my printer cannot scan from computer, error message is "unable to find computer make sure printer is connected to a network and turned on". I find that not all the setting are available in order to turn on Scan to Computer. I have tried two HP printers Photosmart 5510 and 3050 both with same results, I have eventually established a more permanent connection by selecting the Bonjour name for the printer when adding a printer to Print & Scan, not the HP name. The HP software did not appear to work for me as it was unable to find the wireless printer on the network. So I used the option to obtain  wireless connection to my router using the printer panel, then adding the printer from Print & Scan and ensure that AirPrint is selected not Printer Software.
I still have issues when printing from a web page but I can work around that as I also have IOS devices where I use HP Apps, even though Airprint should work on these devices without needing apps.
    My OSX is Mountain Lion
    Macbook is mid 2010
    Printer is Photosmart5510 B111a

It sounds like the issue is with the printing system since Airprint works (which is a very different system all together).  The scan function will not work with Airprint and the full featured drivers is required to have that functionality from HP.  However, there are alternative ways to scan if you want some scanning functionality until the software issue is corrected.
Try resetting the printing system before continuing.  Resetting the printing system will remove any printers from the system.
Have you tried installing the newest 10.8 full featured drivers from HP?

  • HP Photosmart 5510 reboots continually

    Hi
My HP Photosmart 5510 started rebooting all of a sudden.
Imediatelt its connected to the power source, it powers itself on without pressing the power button but continues rebooting continually.
This happens whether its connected to the printer or not.
When I try switching on its Wireless network, it stops rebooting but the blue wireless indicator blinks continually.
Indicating that its on but not sensing any signal (Even when wireless server is on).
I have downloaded the firmware to do an update.
Can a Hard reset solve this problem OR is there another solution for this.
I have checked and veryfied that the units power system is healthy and working fine.
So if am scaling the wrong tree, pliz redirect me, OTHERWISE, Let me know if the hard reset would serve the purporse and send me the Reset Instructionz.
    Will be greatful.
    Thanx

    Hi EddyVic,
I would like to help you with the issue you are experiencing. I understand the Photosmart continuously reboots itself and you have already tested the power and checked the for firmware updates. A hard reset could fix it, to do a hard reset you can leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. If the issue persists after you plug it back in you can do a different type of reset.
I will send you a PM (Private Message) with instructions to perform a reset, but before we begin, please review the HP Privacy Statement.
This Privacy Statement informs you of our privacy practices and of the choices you can make about the way information about you and your online activity is collected and how that information is used. This statement is readily available on our HP.com home page and at the bottom of every HP web page.
There are an increasing number of posts in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a resets on different printers.  The reset itself will sometimes fix problems, so the reset is not the issue.
Some resets require you to enter button combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were never meant to access.  These special menus are used by the developers and support personnel for debugging issues, but they are not meant for untrained users and can have unintended results.  One wrong button push and you no could no longer have a printer, but instead a pricey paper weight.  To top it off, if you do happen to "brick" the printer this way, it is considered customer induced damage, and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only meant to be given out and used as a last resort, and under direct instruction of a HP tech support representative. They should not be done lightly!

  • How do I add an HP Photosmart 5510 wi fi printer to my i Mac

How do I add an HP Photosmart 5510 wi fi printer to my i Mac

    Hi, davidfromickenham.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are wanting to connect your Wi-Fi printer to your iMac.  Here is an article that will help you with that process.
Add a Wi-Fi or network printer
Update your software: Choose Apple menu > App Store, click Updates, then install any software updates listed. Even if no updates appear, this ensures that OS X has the latest information about printer software it can download from Apple. If you don’t do this, you may see a message that software isn’t available when you connect your printer. If you have an AirPrint printer, no software is installed so you don’t need to check for software updates.
Prepare your printer: Use the instructions that came with your printer to unpack the printer, install ink or toner, and add paper. Turn on the printer and make sure it’s not displaying any errors.
Connect your printer: Follow the instructions that came with the printer to connect it to the network. For more information, see the Apple Support article Connecting a Wi-Fi printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Add the printer to your list of available printers: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. If you don’t see your printer listed on the left, click Add at the bottom of the list. A dialog appears listing printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear. Select your printer when it appears in the list, then click Add. If you see a message prompting you to download new software, make sure to download and install it. If your printer still doesn’t appear in the list, try adding the printer by its IP address (see below).
When you add a printer, OS X can usually detect whether the printer has special accessories installed, such as additional paper trays, extra memory, or a duplex unit. If it can’t, a dialog appears that lets you specify them. Make sure the settings in that dialog accurately reflect your printer’s installed accessories so you can take full advantage of them.
OS X Yosemite: Add or remove a printer

Why MacBook Air, iPad2 and iPhone 4S doesn't find / recognize anymore HP photosmart 5510 printer ?

I would suggest starting with your MacBook Air.
The Photosmart 5510 is listed as supported by Apple.  So I suggest setting it up under your MacBook Air as described in this Mac Print 101 article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
Then hopefully your iOS devices will see it on AirPrint.
