HP PhotoSmart 5520 - Airport Extreme - Airprint - "No AirPrint Printers Found"

Dear HP
I used to be unable to print from my iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPhone 5c or iPhone 5 to my PhotoSmart 5520 using AirPrint. Not anymore.
I can:
1. See and print from my Mac Pro and iMac
2. See and print from my brother's Android Nexus 4
3. See and configure the printer through the AiO Remote app from the iPad!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell?
I have:
1. Updated the firmware on the printer to the latest update found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&product=5157536
2. Gone through the "How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network" document found here
 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02623193#N1551
Still no luck!
What's the solution guys? How are you going to fix this?
Looking forward to your prompt reply.

  • Solution to connecting Photosmart to Airport Extreme via Ethernet

Occasionally Airport Extreme flips out and goes wrong. Then you discover that none of your computers on the network can connect to the Photosmart printer using the Ethernet from the Airport Extreme. I've tried everything to restore this. Here's the answer I've found works.
Turn your printer off. Rest to the factory defaults on the Airport Extreme using the Airport Utility software. Reset anything you need to (e.g. password) turn your printer back on.
On the printer menu, go to Settings and Network. Reset the Network Settings.
Now go back into your HP Utility and it should see your printer on IP and Bonjour.
Go to System Settings, Print and Fax, and simply add your printer.
Do let me know if this causes any issues but it's the only thing that's worked for me.

Thanks so much for posting this!
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Can't add second PC to Airport Extreme

I am trying to add a second PC to an existing network of one PC and an Airport Extreme. The new PC found the network and displays a solid signal. However, it then tells me I have "limited or no connectivity" and that the "network did not assign a network address to the computer." The Repair function says "unable to finish repair because renewing IP address cannot be completed." The firewall list allows an exception for the Airport. I've searched the forum and don't find anything specific to this problem. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you Duane. After a break for the holidays, here is what I found on the original computer: The box is checked at "Distribute IP addresses" and "Use 10.0.1.1/24 addressing" was selected. Under Access Control, the list is empty. "All clients are permitted on correctly entering the password." So, I found nothing to change.
I'm also now getting a message that I need a network key (I had not seen this earlier). Looking under Wireless Networks on the original computer, I see 8 bullets in the Network Key field. It is set for WEP in the data encryption field, so 8 bullets doesn't seem right (I would have expected 5 or 13), but it won't accept a change. In the Net Authorization field, "shared" is selected. No combination of probable 5 or 8 letter keys will let me get past this barrier. Any further ideas are appreciated.

  • Airport extreme printer connection

I have 2 macs and to pc's running XP connected with airport extreme. 2 hp printers also connected. the internet connection works fine for all. macs can print with no problem. the XP's are connected but the printers work sometimes and then do not work. I am able to get them re connected eventually but that is not a long term solution. Why do the printer connections keep fAILING???

    Check out http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8883084#8883084
It describes a Vista/AirPortExpress installation, but should be relevant to XP.

  • Problems with my External HD and my AirPort Extreme Station

I've just recently (July 26) picked up my new router the AirPort Extreme and I'm loving it. I can finally print off my laptop without having my desktop on to do it. I have HP Desktop and Gateway laptop for now, but am converting (when I get money for my MacBook).
    Enough about the background ...
The issue tha that I'm having is that when I try to get the HD to work on the network, I get an error saying "repair disk". I've got both of my printers and the external hd hooked up to a USB hub and then to the AirPort Extreme. The two printers work, but the HD doens't.
    Any idea's?

So I tried to format the HD into the format mentioned in this thread. Because I am using a PC to try and do it, I can't get it into that format. I've tried many things and nothing seems to work. So ... because I am selling my desktop PC anyways, I'm selling the external HD along side that and getting one that's already Mac compatible. This one I just bought a internal HD and slapped it into an external case. I have both my printers working properly right now and that's all that matters to me. I can live without my external HD for now.
Thank you to everyone that responded to this question and I hope to get more answers from you guys/gals the next time I have one.
    Thanks again everyone!

  • Ethernet printer to AirPort Extreme wont work

    Please help!
I have recently purchased the apple AirPort Extreme (2nd generation) which advertises that I can wirelessly extend my wifi range and plug in a Ethernet printer to one of its 3 Ethernet ports.
Now I have it in my possession I can connect to my wifi network fine with no problems however I am unable to get the Ethernet printer to work.
I have the apple AirPort Extreme IP address as 10.1.1.3 set as a static IP address. Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and router address as 10.1.1.1 Apple airport express version 7.6.3
The printer is a star100LAN future print Ethernet printer. This IP address is set to static IP as 10.1.1.17 (as the airport extreme doesn't appear to have a dhcp feature to assign an ip address to the printer. the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and gateway is set to 10.1.1.1
I recently read articles that Ethernet printers are -unable to- be connected to an AirPort Extreme router, only USB printers. Please advise if this is the case. If so, will a Ethernet to USB converter work ???
Please can someone help me with this issue.
    Daniel

It seems as though you have configured your AirPort Extreme to be a client on your wireless network, since an Apple AirPort Base Station can only "wirelessly extend" a wireless network created by another Apple AirPort Base Station. Is that possible? If yours is configured to "join" your wireless network, its Ethernet ports will be disabled.
I recently read articles that Ethernet printers are -unable to- be connected to an AirPort Extreme router, only USB printers.
No, that's not true. There is no problem connecting an Ethernet printer to an Extreme, provided that the Extreme is configured to be your router or is "extending" a network created by another AirPort. You can also connect the Extreme to your existing (apparently non-Apple) router with an Ethernet cable, and its LAN ports will also be available for your printer. Connect its WAN port to your router.
The IP addresses you supplied are not consistent with the AirPort's usual naming convention. Those begin with 10.0.x.x while you mentioned 10.1.x.x. If that's the case perhaps you simply erred in assigning the printer's (or AirPort's) static IP addresses. Double-check that.

  • Computer cannot read AirPort Extreme CD

I just bought an AirPort Extreme 802.11n router. I set it up just fine with the included CD on my main PC, which the router is connected to.
Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro will not read the included CD (not a cleanliness/scratch issue since the PC reads it perfectly). What is problematic is that the software to upgrade my AirPort wireless card to use the 802.11n standard is supposed to be on that disk--so I'm stuck with 802.11g (which my Network Utility confirms).
    So, 2 part question:
    1) How can I get my wireless card to upgrade to 802.11n?
    2) Is there any other software on the disk that would be helpful, aside from the aforementioned (n) upgrader, that I should get access to?

Not sure if you got this resolved or not, I had a similar problem. I would get an error message when I would try to install the Software that came with the Airport Extreme. The problem I found was that my computer already had Bonjour installed. So my guess is that your Mac computer already has this software installed. When you initially start setup you can diable installation of Bonjour. You did mention it won't read your disk, so this may not be your problem but wanted to mention it.

  • Airport Extreme IPv6 firewall bug

I've been experimenting with IPv6 support in the Airport Extreme, and I think I found a bug.
If a host on the WAN side has a smaller MTU, as might be the case if it is being tunneled, then attempting to run a bunch of data through a TCP connection will naturally result in the remote host returning an ICMPv6 packet too big notification. Those don't seem to be making it through the IPv6 firewall in the AEBS back to the originating host. This locks up the TCP connection. Reducing the MTU of the local host's interface is a workaround, but it's annoying.

This magically fixed itself some time ago.

  • Airport Extreme losing USB-printers

I have the latest airport extreme conected to two printers (a HP 1020 and a Canon 3000) through a hub. I purchased this to solve my problems and not to create new ones... Anyway, my problem is that the printers do not show up in airport utilities. Or, in fact, they DO show up occasionally and I have been able to print to them but if I disconnect the cable or restart the AE they disappear. Sometimes they show up after about 4-12 hours and sometimes (like now) they don´t.
It´s totally annoying, impossible to trace and very, very unlike apple to have a product that doesn´t just work.
    Help anyone?

Just a note: sorry about the double-posting of this. I waited for two minutes and nothing happened, then I pressed "post message" once more and BAM! A duplicate post!
I also would like to point out that there´s the same problem wheter I use firmware 7.3.1 or 7.2.1.

  • I have a Airport Extreme. USB from printer to the router.  How do I turn on AirPrint so I can print from my iPad too?

I have a brand new iMac.  I also have a brand new Airport Extreme.  I have a cannon MG6320.  I have the printer contected to the Airport Extreme.  It works fine from my iMac.  But I do not know how to setup Airprint, so I can also print from my iPad 2 (original iPad 2, not the new iPad 2). Should I call cannon for assistance?

Setup AirPrint Printer (you do not connect to router)
    1. Buy an AirPrint enabled printer; see list below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
    2. Run the CD provided and set printer and iPad on the same network
    3. Start printing from your iPad using AirPrint
Note: Make sure you have the latest firmware on printer

  • Will the AirPort or AirPort Extreme turn any printer into an AirPrint printer?

I have a printer (HP CP1518ni) and I want to know if I get the AirPort/AirPort Extreme will it allow me to use my current printer with my iphone and ipad?

I want to know if I get the AirPort/AirPort Extreme will it allow me to use my current printer with my iphone and ipad?
Plugging your printer into the AirPort Express or AirPort Exteme will not make it AirPrint compatible.
If your printer is not already AirPrint compatible, an App like Print Central installed on the iPad and iPhone might allow you to print.

  • Can I use the AirPort Extreme to print with my iPhone on a non AirPrint compatible printer

Can I used this as my new network router and make my printer work with my iPad and iPhone

In order to print from an iPhone or iPad, your printer needs to be AirPrint compatible.  Check to see if your printer is compatible using this Apple support document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Simply connecting the printer to the AirPort Extreme will not make it AirPrint compatible.

  • I have an airport extreme with a USB printer attached (non-airprint).  Can i print from my ipad?

I have an airport extreme with a USB printer attached, it is a non airprint printer.
I can print via my network from my desktop but I want to know if i can print from my ipad 2 and ipad 1

Printing from an iPad or iPhone
To print directly from an iPad you need an AirPrint - enabled printer on the same wireless network as the iPad. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are AirPrint-enabled.
If you do not have an AirPrint printer, a number of workarounds exist that enable the use of any printer you normally use, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades. Search for the following products:
    handyPrint (Mac only, donation-supported)
Printopia (Mac only, $19.95 with free trial)
These are utilities you install on the Mac you normally use for printing, enabling it to act as an AirPrint print server. The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. The iPad needs nothing else, no iOS apps need to be installed and no configuration is necessary. If your computer can print, so can the iPad, using one of these utilities on your Mac.
Equivalent utilities may exist for PCs but I have no experience with them - I suggest https://www.collobos.com
You can also buy this standalone hardware print server, bypassing the need for a computer altogether:
    http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html
Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device.

  • Is there a difference between AirPrint and printing via usb printer plugged into an airport extreme?

My printer does not show up in the add a printer option on my iMac when plugged into the extreme. I have a HP officejet 5610 All-in-One. I want to be able to print wirelessly using my Airport Extreme.  Thank you

Is there a difference between AirPrint and printing via usb printer plugged into an AirPort Exreme?
    Big difference.
AirPrint for one will not work via USB, so you will not be able to print from an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad using this type of connection unless you look at additional software....that may or may not allow this option.
Assuming that you get the All-in-One setup using the USB port on the AirPort.......only printing is supported.
You will not be able to use any other advanced features like maintenance, scan, copy, fax, etc when the device is connected to the USB port on an AirPort.
If you plan to use the HP for other things, I would strongly recommend that you connect it to your computer.
My printer does not show up in the add a printer option on my iMac when plugged into the extreme.
This usually indicates that your printer model is not supported. Check with HP Support to see if they have any updated Macintosh drivers for the 5610 that you could download and install that might allow this.
