HP Photosmart 5520 printer not printing more than 4 pages at a time.

Hi,
I have just purchased this printer - stoked about the duplex printing to save of paper etc. . . .
However it prints maximum of 4 pages (word, pdf etc) at a time.  Kind of pointless having a wireless printer where you have to sit by the printer anyway & have to reprint a document about a million time.  And then sometimes it will print up to page 3 only,  so wasting paper.  Sometimes the printing stops mid page.
I wont even begin to talk about how I have tried to print a photo,  3/4 of a 6*4 is the maximum that will print.
Am kind of thinking its a waste of a $160.....NOT HAPPY.
I have tried installing and reinstalling to no avail. . . what else can I try?

Thanks for the advice,
I read through the document and NOT COMFORTABLE not having virus scanning software installed on my computer.
My two other printers work perfectly,  however,  lacking the wireless capability & duplexing and "printing from anywhere" I really want to move beyond them.
The only step I hadn't preformed was a system restore,  which I will attempt now.  However how do I ensure I have up to date firmware?  I only have recently installed the printer using the website as recommended by the printer. . .
I struggle to think of how the printer has capability to print from "anywhere"  it doesn't even tell you when connected that it fails at page x of x. . . . it just makes you think the whole thing is printed until you find on the printer it hasn't.
Sigh!

  • Photosmart 5520 - Black not printing on some things

My 5520 has been fitted with new cartridges and all work except the black.  Strangely, black (or at least grey) writing prints on the quality/print report and the cartridge shows as full when this is checked by the on screen request.  However, the print report has a completely blank rectangle under the 'black' heading.  I have followed all the usual steps but I am confused as to why I get black printing but no black on pictures.

HI , Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you're unable to print black on your HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer. I will certainly do my best to help you. I would try the steps within this guide, Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Photosmart 5520 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 5520 e-All-in-One Printer Series.  Solution one: Use genuine HP ink cartridges HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink cartridges or refilled HP ink cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP ink cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve print quality issues.Visit HP SureSupply to check ink cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement ink cartridges.Go to the HP SureSupply website.Scroll to the bottom of the page, and then make sure the country/region location is correct.Follow the on-screen instructions to order new ink cartridges or check ink cartridge compatibility with your printer.Genuine HP ink cartridges can also be purchased from other retailers. Solution two: Check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty ink cartridgesLow ink can contribute to poor print quality. Follow these steps to check the estimated ink levels, and then replace any low or empty ink cartridges. Step 1: Check the estimated ink levelsFollow these steps to check the estimated ink levels. From the home screen of the printer control panel, touch the Ink icon (). The current ink levels display.Figure : Example of estimated ink levels NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. Make sure that you replace any missing ink cartridges as soon as possible to avoid print quality issues and possible extra ink usage or damage to the ink system. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead, always turn the printer off with the Power button on the printer itself.Solution five: Service the printer Contacting HP for service in all countries/regions except Asia Pacific. If you completed all the preceding steps and your product still has an issue, service the product.First, go to Check your product warranty to check your printer warranty status, and then go to Contact HP Support to find an authorized service dealer or to schedule a repair.Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty printers. NOTE: Keep a print sample that shows the problem. If the ink cartridges, printhead, or printer is replaced under warranty, the support agent will request the print sample. If the printer is returned to HP, the print sample must be returned with the printer. Place the sample in the output tray when you package your printer for shipping. What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
    Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

  • WRT54G wireless - but not on more than one device at time- and now not at all

Since changing internet providers we have had major issues with our router and trying to get the wireless to work with more than one computer at a time. I am gathering it's an IP address conflict, we have had this message pop up sometimes-- but am not sure how to go about fixing it. I have a linksys WRT54G, 6 weeks out of warrenty ( I tried to call for support and was told they would *gladly* help me for $30-$40-- which really bugs me as this was the first time I EVER called. We should be allowed at least one free call no matter how long out of warrenty- end rant )
Anyway--  I have two laptops, Netflix via WII, and an I-touch. For awhile, one computer could access wireless, sometimes both would, sometimes none would- as has been the problem in the last couple of days. It seems one computer would be more consistent in "grabbing" access- don't know if this is important to know or not:)) I tried to look to see if his computer had a static ip address - but couldn't find any info to support that theory...
I doubt it is a router failure as it was working fine with the previous interent provider- but now it is not--  I have tried to reset the router and reconfigure via the webbased setup pages.  Nothing I am trying is working, not real surprising-- as I really don't know what I am doing--
I don't think it is the internet provider as internet access works fine hardwired trhough the modem via the router...
Can someone ** please** help walk me through this??
    thanks
    Tammy

Thanks for the reply--  The issue has been solved.....
I found an online manual and was in the process of reinstalling the wrt54g cd - starting over from the beginning. I felt since it started only after we switched ISPs , that it must have been a config problem and turns out it was.... The manual said to ask ISP for settings. I tried to do that 3 weeks ago and the tech support for ATT was unhelpful.
So I tried calling ATT again today for the proper settings for the router. The tech was fantastic. She walked me through everything -- so now I have wireless PCs, netflix and Itouch again,  yea!! It was not the router, but trying to get the modem and the router to communicate with each other....
    Thanks for trying

  • Photosmart 5520 AIO not printing

The printer belongs to my daughter.  I just found out that she ran out of ink 3 or 4 months ago and put the printer in the closet.  I received it over the weekend, bought new HP cartridges and am trying to get it to print.
The black won't print at all.   The blue is very blurry, as is the yellow.  The red seems to be ok.  My guess is that whatever ink remained in the cartridges dried out and won't let the fresh ink through.  I have run the "Clean Printhead" a number of times and not solved the problem.  I have looked through many posts and do not find a similar one.
    Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

my new HP photosmart 5520 will not print photos. It keeps flashing "out of paper, reload" when the printer is already loaded with paper single and several sheets. Is this a faulty machine that I bought or can it be rectified. I never had this problem with my previous Kodak printer. Could you please advise what can be done to remedy this or should I purchase another make of printer. Thanks Michael

    Hello shuter1,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are having photo printing issues with the Photosmart 5520, it will not feed the paper. Will the printer print on regular 8.5x11 paper?
What is the paper type and size you are trying to print these photos on?
See if following the steps outlined in this guide will help: Printing Photos Saved on Your Computer or Memory Card.

  • HP Photosmart 5510 will not print Black Ink!! - Time to "break-up" with HP

I came upon this forum by doing a google search for the issue I'm having which is my HP Photosmart 5510 will not print black ink. The printer is a year and a half old and is used only for home office use (not a heck of a lot of printing being done)
It started right after I installed new ink cartridges (all four of them) I want to mention hear that I ONLY buy genuine HP ink cartridges from Staples and when I replace my cartriges I replace all four at the same time even if one ink level is not considered "replaceably" low. When the issue started I thought I must have gotten a bad black cartridge so I went out and bought another one but was still having the issue. So that's when I did my google search.
I tried all the suggestions (several times) on this post (which did not reslove the problem) : http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/HP-Photosmart-5510-will-not-print/m-p/1...
and I tried a "Hard Reset" as suggested here (again did not resolve the problem) :  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Ink-Toner-Cartridge-Printhead-Issues/Photosmart-5510-Will-not-print-in-...
After trying all of these my color ink is less than half full....remember....I started with 4 brand new ink cartridges...so now, I'm out roughly $85 in ink just trying to resolve a problem that should not have happened in the first place!! Shame on HP for makeing such poor quality products. I gave up on HP computers years ago and now I'm giving up on their printers!! This HP Photosmart 5510 All In One printer replaced an HP Color Laserjet CM1312nfi printer (which cost approximately $400) that only lasted about 3 years. Sorry HP but that's it....I'm moving on! Consider this our "break-up" letter.

Hi TisKate, sorry to hear that you are having printing issues when it comes to printing in Black. I am also sorry to hear that you are breaking up with HP. I would like to offer a couple more troubleshooting steps before we say our fond farewells. Now this might sound silly but really it isn't. If you have the power cable connected to a Power bar/strip, please remove it and connect the power cable directly to a wall outlet. HP printers already have a built in surge protector and if you have it in a strip/bar, the printer will not get all the power needed to function properly. This can cause printing issues or false error messages on the printer display screen. Here is a document that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
The other step I would like to take is on the printers display touch screen. Please use the right arrow key and go to the Wrench icon. Press the wrench and go to the Tools menu. Once in the Tools menu, please select Clean Printhead. Use the cleaning utility 2-3 times or until you see a change in the print status reports. It might take a few cycles but I am confident that it will make a difference.
I hope you and HP can still be friends( friendly humor).

You need to get rid of MacKeeper (Zeobit).  Do not use their uninstaller, follow the instructions here ...

When that is done there does not appear to be a lot wrong if you correct the red ink entries.

Hi. I am having problems with my HP photosmart 109a printer. It is printing in the other 3 colours but is not printing from the black cartridge. Hi,
If you wish to keep print both sides as default, pleae try:
    (a) Double click (or touch) "HP Photosmart 5520" icon (should be one on desktop,
    (b) Click Set Preferences
    (c) In "Lay out" tab, there are 3 options in print Both sides, select "Flip on Long Edge" (normally for Portrait printing)
    (d) Click "Apply"
You can overwrite this default when printing from applications using Printer properties.

Hi there @Ashley31 , welcome to the forums
I read about how you cannot print or copy in color. Not copying in color is concerning, as the copy is a stand alone function that does not involve the computer in any way.
I'd suggest power resetting the printer:
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
You can also remove the ink cartridges and reinsert them and try a color copy again to see if that helps.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in.
