Welcome to the community
I will certainly do my best to help you with your connection issues! However, I am going to ask that you please let me know some more helpful information to help me research the problem for you.
Please respond to me with the following. If there are any steps here that you have not tried, please try them before responding and include the result:
What printer(s) are installed on the computer?
What is the Operating System of the computer?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
What Firewalls and Anti-virus software are installed?
Have you tried disabling or uninstalling them?
If you're running Windows, run the Print and Scan Doctor and include the results.
Did you make any recent changes to your set up (physical move, upgrade, downgrade, new software installed, new router, etc)?
Is the printer plugged directly into the wall outlet (avoiding power bars and surge protectors)?
Have you completed all Windows/Mac OS Updates?
Have you tried using a different USB/Ethernet cable?
Thank you

Welcome to the HP Community @Sekhon ,
I read about the issue you're having with copying and scanning from your Photosmart 5525 unit, and wanted to reach out to you.
I would personally think that there could be a "Scanner failure" with your printer, and would like you to check out a post from my colleague @RnRMusicMan below and follow the guide he suggested to someone else with the same issue. If the copies still do not work when done troubleshooting, call technical support directly to discuss your printer replacement options with HP.

  • HP Photosmart 5525 scanner

Is there any way to scan a document to a MS Word Document?? Right now the only option I have is a PDF file and that doesn't convert very to a Word Doc.

  • Photosmart 5525 e printer

My printer is only about a month old.  After printing documents, it makes a terrible grinding noise.  It only started doing this a few days ago and doesn't happen all the time.  What's going on?  The noise also occured when starting a print job in the last few minutes.  My instincts lead me to believe that either the printer is having trouble feeding the paper (though no paper jam occurs) or the carriage for the ink cartridges is getting stuck.  I haven't used the printer very much and it's still relatively new, so I don't think this should be happening.
    This question was solved.

I would take a look at this document it outlines some things to look at and clean.   It is normal for the printer to make some noise I wouldn't be alarmed if the printer still functions.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Hp Deskjet 5525

It showed us to put paper in, so we did. Then it did some noise and wrote me to restart. Then when I restarted it, it did the same noise, like the small wheels got stuck. We inserted ink catridges and paper, once maybe 10 papers went trough it, but every second was rumpled.

    Hello,
Please check if the model is Photosmart 5525. If yes, you can try removing the input tray and put it back and ensure the tray is closed properly. Open the cartridge access door, remove the cleanout door and fit it back properly. The below document should help you guide that. Hope this works.

  • Deskjet 5525 Server Connection error 403 - scanning documents

I cannot scan and send documents/photos to email or computer. It is connected wirelessly to internet, but keeps coming up with Server Connection Error : 403. I have reset to factory settings on the printer, but no change.
What do I do, to be able to scan? My computer is a Mac using OS X Yosemite

    Hi @ FF9451,
Welcome to the HP forum. I see you have two separate yet similar issues with scanning.
I would like to help you with these issues.
I just want to doubble check, is it a Deskjet 5525 or Photosmart 5525?
The first issue i would like to address is the scan to email. This one is the same with either a deskjet or a photosmart.
Lets start off simple, so unplug the printer while it is turned on. Might as well turn off any computers, tablets and smart
TV's also. Then unplug your router for a minute.  After the minute, plug the router back in. Depending on the router it can take few minutes to rebuild the network. While your waiting plug the printer back in. you will notice the blue wireless light is blinking. When it stops blinking your printer is on the network again.  Try the scan to email, if it does not work, the printer might need a manual DNS.  This post: Efax 7510 still won't work, from happytohelp01, I have found really well done, so go ahead and check it out. I know every EWS (embedded web server) is laid out differently so if you need any help let me know.
The second issue is scanning to the computer. Here i have a few questions. are you using Apple scan or HP scan?
Is the Hp software installed? Have you removed the printer and then added it again?

  • HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 5525

Hi, Lately I changed my home modem router to a Cisco EPC3928 and cannot connect the printer to it. If I leave my wifi without a password, I am able to connect the HP printer wirelessly. When I set a password on the router, I cannot manage to connect the printer. Tried with the WPS button, tried by manually entering the SSID and password but still nothing. How can I solve this problem because I can't leave my router without a password. Thanks in advanced.Regards,Keith

    Hello rinah,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Sorry to hear about the carriage issue on the new Photosmart 5525 you bought a few weeks back. If you have gone through the advised troubleshooting: A 'Carriage Jam' Message Displays on the Control Panel, then your best option would be to call HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If the printer was just purchased, you would still be covered under the manufacturers warranty.

  • Printer won't go online

I bought an HP Envy computer 3 weeks ago,  I never could get my HP Photosmart  5525 printer to work.  I uninstalled drivers and reinstalled drivers many time and used scan doctor while visiting many forums.  It would also show it working, but it never would and would appear offline.  Today I bought an HP Envy 4500 printer and it will not stay connected to the network.  It goes off and on, and if you get it to print, the page stays inside the printer when it gets printed and you have to hit cancel to get it out.  It goes off and on by itself.  I am fed up with the hours I have spent trying to make things work since buying this Envy computer.

Which router are you using? What encryption are you using?
How far from router is the 4500?
Does the network status report show any errors?
Have you tried settings a staic IP on the 4500?
Are you runnning a anti-virus program? If yes which one?

  • HP5525 - Scan to email

Hi! My HP5525 is connected to my wifi network and I can print wirelessly no problem. I used to be able to scan to email also without any problems. However, off late, suddenly, my printer gives me the error message "Server connection error : 403. There was a problem connecting to the server. Touch retry to connect again or OK TO EXIT." I've tried reconfiguring the internet settings on my printer, powered off my router and then back on again, turned off my printer and back on again. Nothing seems to work. I need to get this resolved ASAP as my primary purpose of buying this machine was to be able to scan to email. Thanks.

    Hi nitingoud,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I see that the scan to email feature of your Photosmart 5525 printer is giving you a connection error message.
There are several steps I would like you to try please.
    Please turn off your printer.
Please turn off your router.  If your router doesn’t have an on/off switch, please unplug the power cord from the router.
After waiting a full 60 seconds please turn on your router (or plug it back in).
After the router has completed its startup routine please turn on your printer.
After the printer has completed its startup routine, please test the scan to email feature.  If it works there no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots on how to do this.   Don’t worry that the screen shots show a Photosmart 7510 printer, the steps are the same.
Please test the scan to email feature.  If it works there no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please call HP’s Cloud Services at 1-855-785-2777 if you live in the USA/Canada region. If you live outside the USA/Canada region please click here to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.

  • Shadow on scanned image

    HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One.
When scanning or copying, the output image has a soft-edged, grey shadow, about one inch wide and three inches long, running from the top edge of the page and centered about 2.5 inches from the right-hand edge of the page.  The printer has done 7,000 - 8,000 copies.

    Hello again!
There is not a full feature driver available for the Photosmart C6180 on Mavericks as it's a mixture of an older printer and newer OS X, which I am honestly unsure if this is causing the problem. However, you do still have other options for scanning that wouldn't hurt to try, to see if you can overcome the issue.
Here are some links to help out with that:
OS X v10.9 Mavericks: Installing and Using the Printer on a Mac
How to Scan: OS X v10.9
For the Officejet 8620 and Photosmart 5525, I have checked the drivers for those units and they both have supported and full drivers available on Mavericks. I have personally not heard of scanning problems with them on Mavericks.
I hope that gives you some insight and helps!
    Hope you enjoy your Thursday
