HP Photosmart 6510 B211a Not Functioning Correctly After Power Outage

Hi Guys,
I'm new to this forum but I'm hoping someone can help me.
I have an all-in-one HP Photosmart 6510 B211a that has been working like a dream since I got it last Winter. We had an unforeseen power outage yesterday however and once the power came back, the printer insists that there is no ink in the system. I fear the worst and think its brain may be somewhat scrambled.
I replaced two of the ink cartridges just last week with genuine HP ones and everything was fine. My ink levels are nearly low on the other two but I have not replaced these yet as there is no need.
Once the power came back, the printer informed me that the magenta ink was 'missing or damaged'. I removed the cartridge, cleaned it with distilled water and dried it. Once replaced, the printer changed its mind and told me all ink cartridges are now 'missing or damaged'. When I opended the printer again, the ink carriage did not automatically move as normal to allow me to change or remove the cartridges. 
Furthermore the touchscreen on the printer will not allow me to exit this error message or perform any other function such as head cleaning. I have tried a soft reset and a hard reset but this has proved fruitless.
Is it knackered? Should I toss it and head to the shops again?

Hi Rich,
I replaced the magenta cartridge yesterday and my printer is working successfully again! Woohoo!
My dad's an electrician so between us we've come to the conclusion that when the power came back on after the outage there was either an electrical spike or insufficient voltage than normal and this damaged the nearest ink chip to the power supply  - the magenta cartridge.
All is well again anyhow.

  • Imac will not start up after power outage

    My iMac G5 will not turn on after the power went out. I can hear a clicking noise which seems to be coming from the fan/power supply area when it is plugged in. Nothing happens when the power button is pressed. Tried resetting PMU and still nothing. What do you think the problem could be? Bad power supply?

    I just went through the steps of troubleshooting with an iMac that won't turn on using the led indicators with the back taken off, the first led light lights but it seems to blink very quickly (in unison with the clicking noise), does not stay solid. After pressing the SMU and then the internal power button, nothing happens again, and the 2nd led light does not light even momentarily. So it tells me that I need a new logic board...what kind of costs are we talking about here, anybody have a ballpark idea? Thanks for the help.

  • Desktop will not come on after power outage

    We had a power outage for about 5 seconds. Everything came back on. When I hit power button on PC, it came on and booted back up. About 3 minutes later, it cut off. I restarted it again and it did same thing again. When I tried to turn it on again, nothing happened. It has a green light above power cord lit up but when I hit power button, light goes out. PC was on surge protector when power went off.

    Here is the standard HP diagnostic for the power supply.  Likely it has been damaged by the spike. The slimline's use a specialty PSU, called a TFX is most cases.  It would help if you'd mention the exact model #.   Examples,  more.

  • Sleep Mode not functioning correctly after Mac OSX 10.6.5 update

    I have a Macbook Model Identifier 5,1. (1st gen Alum Macbook). I notice that after I updated to 10.6.5, I have a problem going to sleep mode. When I click on sleep, it will blacken the screen but the LED screen still glows. Usually, it glows for a few second and then the LED powers down so it will be completely dark. Now it just hangs there. I have to use the power down fucntion by pressing it for 4 seconds.
    I tried disk utility repair permissions. ANy suggestions?

    I have similar problem with MacBook White Identifier 6.1. I have update 10.6.5 and I have a lot of problems with my MacBook. This problem is one of them. My MacBook also often show message Kernel Panic and I can use only power button. It is not good when arrange photos or do other things.
    Update 10.6.4 was very good. I didn't have any problem. If I have version 10.6.5, can I return to version 10.6.4?
    I don't know, what I can do. Any suggestions?

    I hope this hasn't being answered yet but i couldn't find any previous post on this, let me describe the environment.
    Im working in WLP 10.3.2 Struts Portlet, i had enable:
    Enable Tree Optimization:     True
    Enable ScrollToWindow:     True
    Asynchronous Update Mode:     Desktop
    Enable DISC:     True
    Enable DVT:     True
    During the first request when i entered the (portal url in the browser) all the html:link get replaced with their corresponding: href="javascript:bea.wlp.disc.xie._Service.update('myTargetURL','','')"
    Which is Fine, if you click on it the request will go thru an AJAX submit, however the incoming page also have links on it (navigation link to going back or to apply something else) and those get render as regular link making the whole portal to refresh.
    ps:
    Im using the corresponding BEA Stuts-html instead of struts default

    The new iMac arrived and I register at the beginning screen, etc. I'm at the end of the registering when I accidentally pulled the cord out of the iMac. Now when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. At all. I've tried taking out all devices, etc. Nothing will work.

  • Touchpad not functioning correctly

    I have an Envy 17,(Windows 7) and the touch pad is not functioning correctly.  I have had it do similar things in the past but they seemed to fix themselves after a few minutes, but this time it just keeps messing up. I CAN click on programs to open them but once in a program, I cannot click on anything. I CAN click on links when online, but they always open in a new tab and when I attempt to click on a new tab, the tab completely closes out. Once a program is opened, I cannot close/minimize/maximize it using the touchpad, nor can I access File/Edit/other menu options.  I also cannot click in a typing field. (I'm using a different computer to do this post)I can barely move the curser around.  It jumps or freezes up.  I move it up about an inch and as soon as I take my finger off the touchpad the curser goes back to where it originally was.  I've tried restarting the computer but that hasn't worked.  I've attempted tried some other things as well, but since I cannot click on anything with the touchpad and can barely move the curser, I am at a loss for what to even try.  Everything was working fine this morning.  I literally got up from the computer, made breakfast and sat back down and it was all glitched up.  No one had touched it...  I had not recently downloaded anything nor have I made any updates to the computer.  Thank you, Neyephe

    Hello there, It sounds like there is a hardware issue with your touchpad, which you need to replace. As stated in the warranty, the touchpad may only be replaced by an Authorized Service Provider. If you cannot find any places that are authorized, you may contact the HP Support Center via phone and arrange a date for your touchpad to be replaced.   • I believe my firefox is viewing some websites on my laptop in formats that are used for cellular devices. Sites like facebook, sports illustrated, yahoo are not functioning correctly but certain sites work fine.

I believes its somehow set itself into the same format used for cellular devices... My JSU.edu page says somethin about it being in (portal mode). It is also a different format now that normal.

    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY TouchSmart 17 Notebook PC and a keys not functioning correctly. Here is a document on cleaning the keyboard.
    I would start with air on the keys as sometimes debris can cause this issue.
    Here is a link to uninstall the keyboard. In the device manager have you uninstall all that is listed in keyboards, restart the computer after uninstalling, it should reinstall automatically and resolve any issues with the keyboard.

    Here is a fix from Microsoft that might help.

  • N96 Telephone Service Not Functioning Correctly

    Good evening folks,
    Now, I've had this problem for as long as I've had an N96. TWO N96's in fact, as my first was replaced by Nokia due to the screen-slide connection malfunctioning. Both have been fully firmware updated and restored on multiple occasions in an attempt to fix the problem.
    The telephone service on the handset has the habit of not functioning correctly, like the service has hanged or just doesn't respond.
    For example, I find a contacts name in contacts, press the green key to show their contact numbers, and green again on the number I wish to call- nothing happens, other than the available numbers disappear and you return to the regular contacts view. This is what would normally happen anyway, only you'd have an outgoing call happening over it and showing the "telephone" screen.
    Or, example two, in a text message I chose Options > Call > Voice Call and press the select or middle button to initiate the call- No call, instead the options dialogue disappears and I return to the standard message view. Again, I should be in an outgoing call, not viewing my text message.
    Example three, to really show the telephone service isn't working;
    I'm in full signal, text messages are functioning correctly and the mobile web is working flawlessly. A friend sat next to me rings me and is immediately directed to my voicemail, not a single indication from the handset that I may have been receiving a call.
    Seconds later I receive a text message from my operator to let me know about a new voicemail my friend just left me.
    So, the telephone service isn't functioning as it should be.
    A quick restart fixes the problem in 4 out of 5 cases, however usually within 24 hours the problem is persisting again.
    Not being able to make outgoing calls isn't a problem, because at least then I know the telephone service has failed on me and I can restart.
    A potentially important incoming call about anything being directed immediately to my voicemail? Problematic, especially if they don't leave a message and instead just keep trying me, as I receive no notification from my operator about missed calls and there is no way other than to try and make an outgoing call as to determine whether the service is still functioning.
    It isn't shown as a regular application whilst not in a call and I don't believe I should even have to check if it's still running as this function is the main function implied in the device category 'smartphone'.
    Rant over, so if there's anyone out there who could shed some light onto this situation, please do.
    Also, kind of off topic- but in the case that this is a universal problem (which I'm assuming it is, having had two completely different handsets with the same symptoms), do I go after Nokia to provide me with a different model of handset, or the supplier (The Carphone Warehouse) since my handset isn't properly providing a function that is advertised?
    Somehow I presume I'm rightfully entitled to a reimbursement or different model. Hopefully.

    You're so right....   I managed to get over the problems, never upgraded the firmware...  Once I got all the apps I use and needed, never touched it....  Still the phone is a mess, worst ever...   I came from an Iphone, fleeing from lock OS and stuff, and found myself in a Symbian hell.....    Definitely Windows Mobile...  I'm so down on this phone, I spent 650 dollars, one year ago....  The worst investment ever...  Never again a Nokia or a Symbian smartphone, for cheap ones apparently are the best.  I'll wait another year, to feel less pain when buying a new one for 600-1000 dollars.
    Solution: Buy another phone...  Better if it is a Windows Mobile.... As HTC for example.

    Saw a few posts and documents relating to this issue but they don't match up perfectly with my particular scenario.  Basically, the customer could no longer log into the Unity Pub so we had to do a rebuild as nothing was working.  The sub took over as it should, a co-worker rebuilt their Pub and the split-brained effect never went away.  In, fact they arn't communicating at all almost a week later.  Here are the things I've checked so far:

    Overall, they are in that split-brained mode and working with CUCM but I'm not sure why it hasn't corrected itself.  Both the pub and sub have been restarted to no effect....  Any ideas on why this is still happening?  I am in the process of pulling logs.
    Error shown by CUC at the Admin page after login:
      Communication is not functioning correctly between the servers in the Cisco Unity Connection cluster. To review server status for the cluster, go to the Tools > Cluster Management page of Cisco Unity Connection Serviceability.

    Check NTP. Ensure Unity is synced to a stable good stratum source - preferably stratum 1,2 or 3.
    On your version, time slips can cause memory leaks on servm. This in turn affects cluster communication.
    You said you couldn't access Pub. Pub would have been on high CPU. Another symptom of this issue.
    You can confirm by looking at the core dumps - 'utils core active list'
    See if there are any servm core dumps. Most likely the server is affected by CSCug53756 / CSCud58000
